Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

Do you do the gastric band then Solo? Can I ask why it doesn't work for you Im finding it is working for me so far, hope it continues. I really want this way of eating to work for me.

hamptoncourt · 30/08/2014 07:59

Well done everyone. It's great to hear how the system is working for different people in various scenarios.

I got the EE book but the cd is broken and only goes 2 minutes in. CBA to send it back to amazon so will just keep using the ICMYT cd.

I did find some of the stuff about unravelling the purpose of your emotions very interesting though. I had never really thought of it like that.

I ran into a little problem last night that I didn't see coming.

I went out to dinner with a good friend who was insisting on paying as it was my birthday treat - not my bday til next month but she is going away.

I was really very hungry and ordered exactly what I wanted, despite it being in a rich cream sauce, all according to the rules etc. However, I got really full and only managed to get through half of it and that was a struggle.

She was a bit concerned that I didn't like it and I felt really guilty because she was paying. I had explained to her about the Paul Mc Kenna stuff but am not sure she really gets it. The waiter also raised his eyebrows and asked if there was anything wrong.

The food was delicious and the old me would have wolfed it all down and then sat there looking forlornly at my empty plate hoping more would magically appear. I am amazed that the system is still working so well but am just a bit Blush that my friend may think she wasted her money iyswim?

MillyDots · 30/08/2014 08:08

Morning Hampton. Smile

That is my experience with food now too so when I go out I only order a main course as I know I wont even finish that. If I have a starter then I will be full and will not want my main. I always have to explain to waiters that the food was lovely but that I am full. ha ha. I think the thing is that when you order whatever you want then you get all the taste you desire so you are satisfied much quicker and don't need to keep eating. Does that make sense.

gunsandbanjos · 30/08/2014 08:23

I know the feeling Hampton, I went out with my mum and dad a few days ago, managed literally 1/4 of my food and even that was a struggle!

I think either ordering a starter as a main, or asking the restaurant for a half portion if it's feasible is the answer?

Weighed myself this morning. My start weight a few weeks ago was 12st 3 which is a lot for my 5ft 1 frame!! I'm now 11st 9.2 so slow and steady. Though the first few weeks I was just eating mindfully, fitted the HGB a few days ago.

It's 16 weeks to Christmas, even if I lose a lb a week that'll take me to 10st 7 by then. Hoping for a little more but I'd be happy with that. We'll see.

MillyDots · 30/08/2014 08:27

Yay!!!! Well Done guns that is brilliant. Really brilliant. Grin

mrsmilesmatheson · 30/08/2014 08:30

Wow guns, that is fabulous well done Grin

hamptoncourt · 30/08/2014 08:31

Thanks everyone.

When I was in Italy I did that, ordering a starter or side as a main, but to be honest there was nothing I really fancied on those lists. I was really hungry, probably hungrier than I should have been now I reflect on it, as we were delayed meeting due to public transport cock ups and then did another detour so maybe I had got too hungry ? Something for me to think about.

I was very happy with the one course I ordered and really enjoyed it. I guess it is proof that the system works, but it just left me a bit embarrassed because I wasn't paying. I think if that scenario crops up again I will either insist on payingand explain why or order a smaller meal even if it isn't what I really want.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Solo · 30/08/2014 12:06

Jeni the first time I lost 2st, I was doing the original ICMYT. A few months ago, I installed the HGB to see if it would make it 'easier' and it really was easier as you fill up so quickly. I felt I needed to reboot it and after I listened again, it seemed to undo itself and I can't seem to get it to work again; no idea why not though! I do try again every now and then in the hope that it will work. My 1st loss so far this time is all down to the original ICMYT.

All this weight loss is great! keep up the good work everyone!! Grin

Solo one of the reviews I have seen about the gastric band says that if you don't read the book you could jeopardize the band working. Not sure what you make of that but thought it might be worth mentioning, just in case.

MillyDots · 30/08/2014 12:25

I have just read some more and there are quite a few that say you need to read the book first for it to work, I think I will read it myself as I just listen to the CD but anything that will enhance it for me must be worth a shot. Smile

Solo · 30/08/2014 12:27

Thanks Milly that is interesting. I haven't seen any reviews on the HGB and I haven't read the book either yet. I should do and perhaps I will have to abandon MN for a while and read it. Trouble is, unless I'm in the right frame of mind, I find it difficult to take what I'm reading in due to my ME. It just doesn't go in. Last year whilst on holiday (no internet!), I read a book and reviewed it for MN and I was able to, but it was hard. Sad for me really as I was an avid book reader :(

OP posts:
Solo · 30/08/2014 12:28

Ok. I will make a point of trying reading it too!

OP posts:
MillyDots · 30/08/2014 12:46

O that is sad Solo. I love reading and would be lost without it. I really feel for you on that. What brought your ME on if its not too personal.

Solo · 30/08/2014 13:36

Working too hard and not resting enough. My being a lone parent and ft working with a newborn Ds and 4 1/2 hours sleep a night whilst doing a very physical and stressful job .

MillyDots · 30/08/2014 20:11

Are you still taking time out from work "Solo* and has it helped? Do you miss your career? Must be hard being a lone parent. Thanks

Solo · 31/08/2014 03:19

I am still unemployed Milly It does help not being at that job but yes! I do occasionally miss it...well, the good old days anyway!

Yes, very hard. :(

MillyDots · 31/08/2014 12:40

Well I have started reading the Gastric Band book. He talks about the "magic". I like that. He also mentions that his aim is for everyone who uses his sytem to lose weight permanently so the whole crazy diet industry collapses.

That's what I like to hear because the diet industry is big business and people hand over their money just to eat less, in one form or another.

He also says that when you do the hypnotic Gastric band and read the book you can be as sceptical as you like but suddenly your eating habits change. You eat less, you leave food on lyour plate and don't feel like you are missing out. If you try to eat more your body wont let you. It makes you feel full or even nauseous if you try to override it.

The weight drops off.

Sorry to go on but just that first page has made me want to read the book and then do the CD to really give it the best chance. Although I find the band works for me and I can stop as soon as I have had enough I want to see what will happen by doing it properly this time.

Solo · 31/08/2014 13:22

That sounds inspiring Milly :) I think I will take the book with me to Mums today and try to read it.

Solo Smile

gunsandbanjos · 31/08/2014 19:45

Sorry to read about your troubles solo.

Feeling hungry today, made a delicious beef in red wine casserole with mashed potato and carrots. Was amazing! So easy and filling. Got 2 extra portions for lunch this week.

MillyDots · 01/09/2014 00:42

that sounds yum guns. I had roast chicken and roasted potatoes in chicken fat, gravy made from chicken juices and veg. Haag daaz icecream for desert.

gunsandbanjos · 01/09/2014 18:59

Had leftover casserole for lunch, was delicious and kept me going until dinner even though I only ate just over half of it! Got more for tomorrow, I love batch cooking.

hamptoncourt · 01/09/2014 19:23

I have had roast chicken two days running - always make more than I need Smile

Good news, I have lost the 2lbs I gained in Italy so I am back on course.

More good news, EA ex will not be at the meeting on Friday.

gunsandbanjos · 01/09/2014 19:53

Yummy, I love roast chicken!

Well done on the 2 lb loss and yay that ex won't be there, you can relax now hopefully.
