Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

Holy moly, 16lbs in two weeks? That's fantastic well done!

PoirotsMoustache · 20/08/2014 08:53

Solo In that case, I think I've definitely found my home here with you lovely lot Smile

Solo · 21/08/2014 00:49

How are we doing?

OP posts:
PoirotsMoustache · 21/08/2014 09:10

I went out for dinner last night (it was a birthday treat) and for the first time in a long time, I didn't overeat. I enjoyed every mouthful, and although I didn't stop exactly when I started feeling full, I still left lots on my plate and didn't get to the usual 'I'm stuffed' feeling. I was pleasantly full. And I stopped drinking cocktails when I'd had enough. I suddenly realised that another one would be just for the sake of having one more than because I wanted it, so I just didn't bother.

I still haven't had a chance to read the book and listen to the CD - best laid plans and all that - but I will make sure I do it tonight. I left a couple of mouthfuls of breakfast on my plate this morning, and I'll ensure I stop eating lunch when I'm full.

Hopefully the EE book & CD will come through soon - I definitely need help with that!

How is everyone else doing?

Fubsy · 21/08/2014 11:48

Just fitted my gastric band - the house is dead silent as Dd has a friend staying (they are 13 so I could be reasonably sure no one would surface before 12!)

Will report back!

TooBigNow · 22/08/2014 17:05

I gained a few pounds while on holiday as I wasn't being as mindful as I should have been. I'm now back to my pre holiday weight again. Two more pounds to go for two stones with PMcK.Smile

I see lots of new people here...hello!!

gunsandbanjos · 22/08/2014 18:33

I'm doing ok, need to be a bit more mindful but I'm drinking lots of water and only eating when hungry.
Work is my downfall though, I don't really snack but I often end up working through lunch so that's not ideal.

Solo · 23/08/2014 03:19

Oooh! good vibes :) well done all of you :)

Guns water drinking is key!
Could you take 20 minutes and disappear to have your lunch? you are entitled to it I assume and it's something you need to do even more than you want to do...I'm sure? it's important to try anyway, but the mindful chewing is paramount I think.

OP posts:
gunsandbanjos · 23/08/2014 07:35

I'm definitely entitled to it solo I work 9-5 it's just we are really busy and understaffed. Plus the rest of the team is really new so they constantly ask me questions and when ad hoc work comes in most of the time I'm the only one that can do it, and usually it's urgent.

I work in fraud for a large bank and things can move very quickly!

mrspana · 23/08/2014 14:10

Hi. Can I join you all?

I've followed every diet under the sun for the past ten years! I'm going to give this a try. I've downloaded icmyt and also the gastric band. I'm also planning to buy the emotional eating one as this is a big thing for me.

My plan is to read all the books and start working on the 4 rules ready to do the hypnosis bits when the boys (5yo twins) are back at school in September.

Have many of you done the gastric band one or the others? Or more than one? How have you found it. September is kind of the start point I have in my mind, clear out all the junk and back to a routine..

Solo · 23/08/2014 17:17

I don't know the answer then guns :( try when you can maybe?

Mrspana welcome! sounds like you have a lot of reading ahead of you!

I've done the ICMYT one and lost 2 stones on that. I had a 'stupid' time of comfort eating and gained it all again.
The HGB worked when I first installed it, but I listened for a second time and it stopped working for me. I have though lost over a stone by listening to my body and cutting out cakes in excess which I was definitely doing absentmindedly. Seems to be working for me. I also check myself out and admire my curves.

So, get stuck in. Post as often as you can even if it's not quite going to plan, get support and give support! that's what we do here!!!

Hmm. I haven't had so much of an appetite, but I can't say I've wanted to stop eating after a few mouthfuls. I certainly haven't had a feeling if fullness.

Im a bit confused (and sorry about this, Im using the Audible download so haven't got all the info) - am I supposed to listen every day with the GB? And does it matter if its in stereo or not? I can hear the mixed up parts but they're not in stereo. Its no use getting the CD as I haven't got anything to play it on at the moment.

Solo · 24/08/2014 02:06

Have you not got earphones Fubsy ? it's better in stereo, but not essential I don't think. Do the GB one as often as you feel you need to. Perhaps listen every day for 10-14 days, then gradually trim it down. You can always increase it if you feel you need to.

IME, it's a much smaller amount of food being eaten, but it isn't just a few mouthfuls. Just be guided by your own full signal. I'm eating much less now and am really noticing the lbs going off. I'm 15lbs down now. Might be repeating myself there ~ sorry if I am!

OP posts:
Fubsy · 24/08/2014 11:49

Thanks Solo. I am using earphones, so I'm assuming its something to do with the download. Its early days so I'll keep trying and see what happens. Sounds like you're doing well!

TooBigNow · 24/08/2014 18:23

Fubsy, it might be the setting in whatever you are using to listen to it. I borrowed my DD's iPod while on holiday to discover that it was set to mono instead of stereo. That could be worth checking out.

It took me a while to recognise the full signal as I was so used to eating when I wasn't actually hungry. If you aren't hungry when you eat your meal it is much harder to recognise the full signal. I also find it much easier to recognise the full signal when I listen to the Listen While You Eat track on the Emotional Eating CD.

Fubsy · 24/08/2014 19:51

I'm using a nexus tablet. I've checked the device settings and Audibles, and can't find a way to get it to stereo. I've tried two different sets of earphones! I could try linking the tablet to dd's mini stereo. I haven't got access to a laptop at the moment.

Sorry to be so negative!

Solo · 25/08/2014 02:21

That's not negative Fubsy :) don't panic about the stereo thing. It's probably better in stereo, but work with what you have until you can change it.

My full signal is an involuntary sigh...

OP posts:
hamptoncourt · 25/08/2014 16:36

Back from Italy.

Put on 2lbs Sad

However, to put that in perspective, I would normally put on up to half a stone on holiday so it is a sort of progress.

I am surprised to be honest, as I did so much walking that I thought I would come home the same weight. I did super amounts of exercise, drank loads of water, ate what I wanted, but I probably wasn't stopping when full, even though I was ordering small portions/sides rather than mains.

Back into it though. As it happens, it turns out I have to see "Lost 10lbs in a week guy" in 2 weeks at a work conference. Although I would never get back with him, obviously I want to look my best and rub his nose in it when I see him so hopefully that will be an incentive to be more focussed.

Solo · 25/08/2014 17:02

Now that is an incentive hampton Grin. Go girl!
Hope your holiday was lovely too.

gunsandbanjos · 26/08/2014 07:13

Fitted the hypnotic gastric band last night! Kinda nervous of the impact.

mrsmilesmatheson · 26/08/2014 13:58

gunsamdbanjos hope the band is going ok for you.

Have just been reading through and catching up as I've been really busy the last few days.

Still feeling positive although I'm expecting a much more modest loss or to stay the same this fortnight. My clothes fit a bit better and dh has made several nice comments, think he's tempted to try it himself.

I had a couple of slip ups where I wasn't eating consciously but even so, I've not really binged the way I was up until quite recently. All in all, determined to keep it up and I do feel better for it.

I passed an exam on Friday which I'd been putting off booking and feeling really in confident about. I actually did pretty well and have booked my next one for next week.

Solo · 26/08/2014 14:02

Hope it works for you guns :)

Mrs don't worry and don't panic; you know where you went wrong, so no real harm done.

Well done on the exam too!
