Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

4lbs loss is great Milly!! Grin

mrsmilesmatheson · 14/08/2014 16:39

NEWSFLASH! Mrsmilesmatheson ate half ... Only half ... A chocolate mousse! Pity, as I was looking forward to it. But after half, it didn't taste so amazing so I stopped.

I'm loving this way of eating Grin , fingers crossed I'm going to love what the scales say On Monday as that'll be me 2 weeks in.

Have also done my 5th day of havening today.

Solo, that's a really good plan. To have food in the house you know you'll always like. I've thrown fruit away today as it simply wasn't going to get eaten. I've realised that every diet I've ever done has had lists of "free foods" ie foods you can eat as much as you want of - how bloody ridiculous! How can I only now at age 35 be realising what a rubbish idea that is for weight loss?

All the food in my house is now "free" as in I'm free to eat it consciously when I'm actually hungry if it's what I want.

And funnily enough, today was the first time I've had one (or half) of my beloved chocolate mousses.

mrsmilesmatheson · 14/08/2014 16:40

Meant to say, well done Milly Grin

Solo · 14/08/2014 16:56

That's brilliant Mrs!!! well done. So are you saving the other half for when you want to eat it and when you are hungry? or did you bin it? :)

neverputasockinatoaster · 14/08/2014 23:19

I left food on my plate!

I served myself a lot less than l normally would and left some!

I was wondering about drinks actually. I generally drink water or tea but sometimes I fancy a glass of something unalcoholic but tasty! I'm assuming the same rules apply? Drink it because I want to, enjoy it slowly not gulp it down and stop drinking it when it stops 'hitting the spot'?
I'm trying to avoid sweetners because they and my stomach tend not to agree with each other!

neverputasockinatoaster · 14/08/2014 23:20

Forgot to say..

We'll done mrsmiles

MillyDots · 15/08/2014 00:16

Solo I think I have lost what you said in mistranslation somewhere. Apologies. I think I wrote too much and confused myself, which is when I decided to stop yabbering on . Sorry if I got it wrong.

Poirot I think it took me a year of getting used to eating like this but I think it is easier if you have support (like this thread). Its easy to go back to dieting in the belief that this time you will lose the weight, but then you find yourself back in the same position if not heavier. With this way you tend to maybe lose and then maintain for long periods and then lose and maintain etc. This is a good thing. Once you can give up the diet mentality and accept that this way really is the easiest for life then it becomes second nature to not stuff yourself. Why would you when you can have whatever you want every single day. Solo is maintaining after losing and she will probably start losing again soon. Your body has to catch up with itself physically and mentally when you change something.

Thank you for the "thankyous" on my 4lb loss and well done to all of you for your own achievements.

mrsmilesmatheson · 15/08/2014 08:08

Well done sock - it feels great to not want to eat it all doesn't it! I am finding myself quite shocked with amounts I used to eat Blush

Solo, no I didn't keep the mousse, just chucked it. It was the type that probably wouldn't be nice once opened for a while unfortunately plus I was going out to see a friend last night so I knew I wouldn't end up going back to it.

Went charity shopping yesterday while MILO had dd and I got a size 14 top - which fits Grin very please.

PoirotsMoustache · 15/08/2014 08:50

Well done mrsmiles and sock!

Milly, thank you for replying to me. I'm sorry I missed your 4lb loss - well done. What you have said makes total sense. If I look at what my slimmer family members/friends eat, they have what they want when they want but don't overindulge too often. And they rarely put on more than a couple of pounds, and find that it naturally comes back off again if they do, simply because they're not bingeing and dieting, bingeing and dieting. I'm done with dieting, I've been doing it for over 20 years and am bigger than ever before.

I left a mouthful of my bacon sandwich this morning! I forgot to eat mindfully, but I honestly did enjoy each bite, and I really didn't want to leave any of it, but I did. Sad as it may seem, I'm going to put a reminder on my phone to eat my lunch mindfully and chew lots.

You guys are great, thank you for posting on here. Flowers

hamptoncourt · 15/08/2014 15:10

Did second weigh in and I have lost another three pounds so that is now eight pounds in a month.

I am very happy with this as I have had quite a few lunches out etc and a few days away with family.

I am going abroad for 5 days on holiday in the middle of the next fortnight and am trying not to worry about it too much.

Solo · 15/08/2014 16:13

Good work hampton! that's great news!!!Grin

Hello, been AWOL again, just really busy but have been following the rules. I'm 4lbs down since I started which isn't great but ok. Better than 4lbs on!

neverputasockinatoaster · 15/08/2014 23:20

I shall be absent for about a week.
We're off on holiday in a WiFi free zone.
I shall take my book, MP3 player and hopefully stick to the rules while we are away.
Hope everyone has a good week.

MillyDots · 15/08/2014 23:36

Have a lovely holiday never. You will be fine, just keep reading and listening and enjoy your food, whatever you want to eat. Just remember to check in with yourself with every mouth full to see if you are still hungry.
Paul says that it is usually after a few mouthfuls that we feel the "satisfied" signal and when the present mouthful doesn't quiet taste as good as the first, then you could stop.

Solo · 16/08/2014 02:53

Welcome back guns :), yes, 4lbs off is great!

Happy holiday sock :) as Milly says, keep listening!!!

It occurred to me that I'm actually a stone down from when I restarted some time ago. One more to go to get to where I was when I lost it before. Two more to go to where I think I'll be happier. Three more and I'll be very happy though I'm not sure if I really want to be that small at my age...I'll aim for two I think right now...but one lb at a time! :)

OP posts:
hamptoncourt · 16/08/2014 09:48

Have a great holiday never. I will also be off from Weds - Sun trying not to eat my way through Italy.

I hope all goes well for all of you next week and thanks so much for all the support.

I will check back in after holiday. I am a bit anxious about it as I can easily put on 5lbs on a weeks holiday usually. Just have to keep telling myself it will be easy and that it's just a few days.

MillyDots · 16/08/2014 10:12

Hampton...just eat whatever you really fancy. Then enjoy each mouthful mindfully and when you begin to feel satisfied, usually after a few mouthfuls, stop and pause and check in with yourself if you need to eat any more.
Thus way if eating is body led calorie control. You are listening to your body and its needs and fuelling it only when it is telling you it needs it. Feeling true hunger is a good thing cause then you know you are not eating for other reasons.

MillyDots · 16/08/2014 10:14

Solo, well done you on the stone loss. Really well done. Keep being mindful and you will get to your next target. Grin Grin Grin

MissBattleaxe · 17/08/2014 11:15

I do find that on this diet I kind of stop and start so it's really encouraging to read on this thread that I'm not the only one. I'll lose weight one week, then stay the same for a few weeks, then lose weight again...

On the plus side, this is the longest weight loss regime I have ever been on because it's so easy and flexible.

MillyDots · 17/08/2014 14:27

That's a very good way to lose weight Miss as the body has time to get used to the weight loss. It has always been that way for me too. I have to say though that this is not a diet at all. Its just eating when your body wants fuel and stopping as soon as you recognise the satisfied feeling which may be only a few mouthfuls.
Glad your doing well.

MissBattleaxe · 17/08/2014 17:09

Yes I didn't mean to use the word diet. It's a permanent change to my approach to food. And it means my jeans fit again!

MillyDots · 17/08/2014 17:20

Yay!!

Solo · 18/08/2014 01:45

Thanks Milly :)

Thumbs up from me MissB [grn]
