Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

:( Solo it's horrible feeling ill and not knowing why...hopefully your referral will help. Went out for a walk with dh and dd this morning which did help to clear the cobwebs a little, and then we went for a pub lunch at which I made the mistake of having a starter - WHY do I do this when I know the knock on effect is that I am too full for a main and then end up eating unnecessarily as I feel it's a waste of money if I barely touch it. Probably ate about half the main in the end, as dh decided he liked mine (fish pie) and had a couple of big mouthfuls!! and also dd ate one of the 2 pieces of my garlic bread - they all decided they liked my meal better than theirs! no pudding as I did feel uncomfortably full. I will try and remember this lesson for next time! I haven't had anything else yet but I am about to have a cup of tea (teabag is brewing in the cup - I only like proper strong tea! Brew
Also, to alleviate my guilt about not having run since Tuesday I did 2 sections of Davina's Fit in 15 that I bought a couple of weeks back - it really makes you sweat (well it does me anyway Blush) and the stomach exercises that I found on the NHS along with a couple of gym ones I remember. I am off on a big holiday in 3 weeks (Florida!) which I am looking forward to Grin but am aware I am actually bigger than when I went away last year - boo!- and so trying to do some last minute damage control...
I am planning on reading a bit of the FFEE book later and alternating between the cd for this and ICMYT and might throw in the VGB one just to mix it up as well! kazza I struggled with the havening as well - it does help but I find it very repetitive and not sure I can face doing it 5 nights in a row!
Toobignow amazing weight loss so far - you're doing brilliantly :)

TooBigNow · 29/06/2014 16:58

We went out for a meal on Friday evening. I chose two starters instead of a starter and a main course. Had smoked salmon with rocket to start followed by mussels in white wine and cream sauce. For dessert, I had one ball of chocolate ice cream and one ball of rum and raisin ice cream. Didn't feel stuffed at all, but pleasantly satisfied.

Last night we went out to a friend's for supper. He is a fantastic cook and we had a lovely meal. Again, didn't overeat.

Today I had mushrooms with my scrambled egg and toast for brunch. Having roast chicken for supper.

Weighed myself yesterday and have lost another pound, which takes me to 25 lb lost so far with PMcK. Grin

yippeekiyay2 · 29/06/2014 17:35

toobignow you are doing so well! Is a good idea ordering 2 starters instead, must remember that! I must weigh myself tomorrow morning to get a proper starting point - I was 14st 6lb when I weighed myself last with ww online but that was a couple of weeks ago and have been binging a lot since then Blush so think will be a couple of lbs more. I am 5 ft 5 so want to be between 10 and 10 and half to be healthy really...

ALittleFaith · 29/06/2014 20:51

KINKY!!!!!!! How wonderful to see you back! How are you? How are your family? Welcome back to the Pauling way old friend :)

Not been gone quite so long but welcome back to yippee. Glad you've realised diets suck and Paul rocks.

toobig you're doing brilliantly Grin cunning plan to have two starters. Sometimes I have one of those 'share' starters like nachos as my main.

I got MFP and it tracks your steps. 12 hour shift and I've only done 7300! I rarely sit down Confused

KinkyDorito · 30/06/2014 06:32

Thanks Thanks Thanks ALittleFaith. I am mostly fat. Grin Family okay; DD finished chemo in April 2013 and is gradually getting back to normal. Hope you are well too.

Iamnotanugget · 30/06/2014 14:14

Hello, can I join you all? I've had my 'band fitted' for about 2 weeks now and I've lost 8lb. I haven't set myself a target weight loss as it feels overwhelming. I still find I'm thinking about food a lot but because I'm amazed by how little I'm eating. I'm listening to the dvd every few days as I think it helps me stay focused. I struggle in the evening as I like to have a meal with my dc but that makes giving my meal my undivided attention difficult. Can anyone tell me what they do? Thanks.

Solo · 30/06/2014 23:58

Hello Iam and welcome. 8lbs is a great start so well done you!!

Do you absolutely have to eat with your children? could you sit with a drink instead of food and eat later when you can concentrate more on yourself? that's what I would do in your place I think.
Also, I think that you are thinking about food a lot as this way of eating is not yet your 'way of life' iyswim? I think this is perfectly natural as it would take a considerable time to change any massive thing in our lives wouldn't it? Not that I've ever smoked, but if a smoker suddenly stopped smoking - cold turkey, I'm sure that they would think about it often each day until they are used to being a non smoker. Does that make any kind of sense at all...

I think that each lb is a great target personally. And isn't every lb off a great achievement too? :) keep up the great work!! you are doing really really well!!!

Hello, I'm on day 9, sceptical but having to admit something has changed. I don't appear to be as obsessed with food, I'm struggling to do a weekly shop even.

There's far too much to catch up on at the moment, I'll try and have a read through later but wondered if anyone can answer a question on the night time hypnosis please? I fall asleep by the time I get to 285. Does that matter?

TIA

Solo · 02/07/2014 02:07

Ohfor falling asleep is fine as it all still goes in! perhaps though, you could find some time to listen during the day whilst up and about as you may feel like it's doing 'something' :) it is good though, isn't it?!

TooBigNow · 02/07/2014 08:06

Hi Iam and Ohfor welcome! Good luck with the weight loss.

ohforfoxsake · 02/07/2014 10:06

Thank you :)

It has surprised me. I don't think about food as much. Weird. It just seems to be less of a priority. I have done a weekly shop without fail forever. My freezer was stuffed, and there was a lot of waste. I just haven't got round to doing a weekly shop for three weeks now. No one has gone hungry (though there was a previously unheard of early morning dash to get packed lunch provisions).

I've not lost weight but I am feeling motivated and been going to the gym 5/6 times a week. I am still over eating at the times I eat.

ALittleFaith · 02/07/2014 20:21

ohfor I agree, sleeping is fine. I go really deeply under with the FFEE cd! Have you looked at that? The listen while you eat on that may be particularly good for you. Welcome to the group :)

Everyone say well done to colleysmill, I just dragged her out on a run with me!

colleysmill · 02/07/2014 21:52

I may not be able to move tomorrow (although I've been doing the Shred too)

I'm definitely eating smaller portions do fingers crossed for weigh on Friday!

Solo · 03/07/2014 01:11

Excellent work! :) Envy as I can't run now! :(

Fubsy · 03/07/2014 08:40

Hello - can I join in? I'm an old lurker (hur hur) used to come on here a lot but haven't for years. I've just hit 15 stone and I'm sick of looking like a small potato.

I had the ICMYT CDs and book, but DD kindly lent my CD player to her friend, so I gave up for ages. Then I found out about the app (on here) and I've been using it for 10 days.

I thought I was doing OK, but my clothes don't feel any different, and I ate a whole tube of Pringles yesterday. Blush I'm finding the concentrate on food and chew 20 times really hard, especially at work as we have to eat at our desks and usually chatting (if I have time to stop, otherwise I'm at the computer). There is nowhere else to go.

I'm trying to exercise more, but I have painful knees and elbows which aren't helping (no doubt the knees would improve if I could lose weight!)

I suppose I'm just wondering if things will get better. I was really enthusiastic at the start, not so sure now.

Solo · 03/07/2014 18:16

welcome Fubsy you know we will support you so...get stuck in and be confident! you can do this :)

Hi all and how are we doing?

I'm just back from a weekend away. I'm exhausted and have eaten lots I suppose. Back to thinking about Paul tomorrow.

kazzawazzawoo · 06/07/2014 23:38

Hi solo Smile

I'm not doing well at all Sad Can't shake the emotional eating. But also don't have a moment to myself, so not listening to the CD or reading the book often enough.

I have put on so much weight in the past weeks, I need to get a grip!

Iamnotanugget · 07/07/2014 22:42

Thanks for the welcome solo. I did post on here on Friday but then I lost my post. I was reporting that I'd been into Costa and bought......a coffee, nothing more. This is unheard of. I did look at the cakes but wondered if I was actually hungry and if I really wanted one. I didn't so stuck with just the drink.

It all went a bit wrong over the weekend though. Had to eat lunch on the go on Saturday so couldn't really 'think' while eating. Then my dd presented me with a cake she'd decorated for me and I felt obliged to eat it. Yester I watched a film with dh while mindlessly shovelling chocolate in my mouth. Will weigh myself tomorrow and listen to cd again.

Solo · 08/07/2014 00:34

Don't worry! This WOE means you can start over the very moment after you forget yourself iyswim. Don't get mad, get mindful :)

Hurrah! I've lost another 2lb. I will 'fess up now in that I'm cheating a little bit as I'm currently breastfeeding which must be helping. I chose this 'diet' as I really don't have time or the inclination to faff with points or whatever. I also want to eat well due to the breastfeeding. So far so good. I don't feel like I'm dieting. I'm just proud of myself for making sensible choices. Right now I feel if I include the cd regularly in my life then this could be my woe forever. I really hope so. I don't last long on diets. I have quite a lot to loose. I don't even want to be tiny, I just want to be a good example to my dc.

j200 · 09/07/2014 05:43

Hi ladies, have decided enough is enough after my last comfort eating food binge last night! I am so fed up of obsessing about food
/starting a diet and then the next day eating so much I feel ill Hmm I eat when I'm bored and tired and stressed and the last few weeks feel so out of control. Have ordered the book and just downloaded the app.

Any tips for newbies appreciated, I want to change for life! X

kazzawazzawoo · 09/07/2014 08:54

j200 I'm the same and fed up of being controlled by food Sad Starting afresh this morning I got rid of all the chocolate and crisps yesterday. Good luck Smile

Solo · 11/07/2014 00:30

Hi ladies! Iam well done you!! :)

New ladies. I would say to you both, don't deprive yourselves. Ask yourselves if you are really hungry or just craving something to swallow. If you are truly hungry, chew each mouthful a minimum of 20 times, putting your cutlery down whist you chew. Listen to your body/stomach and finish when you are satisfied; try to avoid eating just to clear your plate. You can always go back to your food later on if and when you are hungry again.
Biggest tip is to keep posting and sharing here :)

I haven't lost any more recently, but am continuing with eating mindfully.
We're off on holiday today, so will see how we go with eating while abroad.
Feeling much better than I was before I started PMcK.

Back in a couple of weeks!
