Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

Have a lovely time toobig!

colleysmill · 14/07/2014 10:27

Well after a week where rl intervened and made me fall off the wagon I'm back on it.

I've noticed I'm getting better at recognizing when I'm full and have eaten too much but need to work on actually stopping at the right time. I'm going to have to put the CD on my phone as dh' s snoring puts me right off my stride when I listen to it at night.

Interestingly the eating when hungry has completely altered my meal times touch later than I have eaten them in the past - has anyone else noticed this?

Solo · 14/07/2014 12:55

Hi all :)

Seems like we need to busy up the thread again!!

I weighed myself on Saturday and have lost half a stone which is encouraging. Still not listened to the CD's, but really must find my personal player and do so.

Keep up the good work :)

Come on ladies! are you all on holiday? lovely weather and too hot to eat really.

How's everyone doing?

ALittleFaith · 17/07/2014 18:42

No but we did go to the seaside today! DH took a day off work so we went to the coast. Faithlet had a whale of a time! :) very pleased to say despite all the sugary treats around I had a jacket for lunch and no sugary snacks. I refitted the gastric band last night which I think has helped.

j200 · 17/07/2014 18:46

I have gone off track last two days so very annoyed at myself! Always evening bingeing on ice cream and chocolate!
New start tmw and will listen to cd tonight

gunsandbanjos · 17/07/2014 19:02

Evening, sorry for disappearing but I was on holiday :-)

Tried not to eat too much while on holiday but there was so much delicious food!

Been good so far this week, trying to be more mindful. It's interesting, things that I've enjoyed eating in the past aren't holding so much appeal for me.

Imliketotallyummm · 17/07/2014 19:20

I'm struggling with the book. In the meantime still eating too much sweet stuff and feel fat Sad Sad

Passthewineandchocolate · 17/07/2014 21:37

After a really good June it's all gone out the window. I started my new job on 1st July and I haven't had time to listen to the trance or do the havening and it's just all gone to shit. My eating habits feel out of control again. I'm going on holiday in a week and I'm going to feel fat. I really need to get a grip.

Passthewineandchocolate · 17/07/2014 21:38

Oh btw I used to be on this thread but have name changed.

Imliketotallyummm · 17/07/2014 22:13

Sorry, I too used to be on the thread and have name changed.

Solo · 17/07/2014 23:59

Right!! it certainly has not 'gone out of the window' :) it was a slight blip and now you are back on track!
Imlike start by closing your eyes whilst chewing the sweet stuff and keep on chewing!! it'll just taste nasty in the end as you chew it mindfully. I found chocolate revolting when I tried this.
Passthe you have a week to get back on track.

Don't forget ladies; you can eat what you WANT but just eat when you are truly hungry, STOP when you are satisfied, fridge the remainder and have it when you next feel hungry or throw it away (I dare you!). Dish up smaller portions if you can't do those things and on smaller plates. Don't forget the 20 chews per mouthful minimum, knife and fork down and concentrate on what's in your mouth. Same for you j200

Faith how nice!! to go to the beach Envy Grin

And come on! whisper who you were before!! :)

Thanks for the motivational tips Solo, much needed Smile

Imliketotallyummm · 18/07/2014 18:29

Solo, I'll try Smile

Imliketotallyummm · 18/07/2014 22:02

I just wrote a long post and lost it Sad

Anyway basically I want to eat normally, have bread for breakfast if I fancy. I've tried low carbing but I can't bear to eat any more eggs!

I've lost control of my eating. I've been really stressed and going through so much chocolate and popcorn Sad

I don't exercise at all. I'm working full time and don't even get time to walk the dog as when I get in from work I prepare food, then everyonetells me about their day, then it's bedtime!

Imliketotallyummm · 18/07/2014 22:53

I won't always be working full time. In 2 weeks I reduce my hours to 3 days. It means I'll have more time to walk the dog instead of leaving it to dh or ds. I can't afford any other exercise and never have the house to myself for a dvd. I don't run (get too dizzy).

Solo · 19/07/2014 01:27

Good good!!! :)

I don't exercise either. I have ME and just can't. I miss being able to. You don't have to, but moving a bit more is almost always good for us. I'd like to try more of it, but I do fear the 'punishment' I'll get from my body. Dd breaks up on Weds next week and I'm going to try to do a bit more with her in order to move more.
Will post more later.

Keep on keeping on ladies :)

I would like to go swimming as exercise, but our local swimming pool burnt down two years ago and the new one is being built but won't open til spring 2015. No others near enough and anyway it would be too expensive

j200 · 19/07/2014 11:12

You don't need the house to yourself for a DVD, just shut the door or get others to join in too - i do! I think if you want to make the time you can, I get up at 5:30 so I can fit in a power walk before work as I don't get home till 7:30-8pm. You can do it Grin

Iamnotanugget · 19/07/2014 22:47

I thought all was going well but I weighed myself this morning and I haven't lost an ounce! I feel a bit disheartened. I don't have a particular target weight but I was hoping my weight would stabilise at a couple of stone less than it is. I think I'll weigh myself again tomorrow and listen to the cd again. I like eating like this. I don't feel deprived and I know I'm making better choices so I need to see results! Will update tomorrow.

Solo · 19/07/2014 23:41

Don't be disheartened Iam :) out of interest, do any of you do the admiration in the mirror exercise? I found that it helped me enormously even though actually doing it was difficult to begin with. Find a good mirror. Ensure you are alone. Get naked. Look at yourself with new attitude and find one thing (or more!!) that you really like about your body. Do this often and notice just how many great things you have going for you.
My first time was tough. I recall looking in the mirror and mumbling "nice tits" Blush. I don't even use the word, but it made it humourous, not to mention I could kind of separate the person in the mirror from the person saying the words IYSWIM? anyway, it got easier and easier, not only to say nice things about my body, but to mean them AND I found I lost more weight too!!
Give it a go.

J200 is right too. You don't need an empty house to exercise :)

Iamnotanugget · 20/07/2014 09:56

Well I've weighed myself again today and according to the scales I've lost 4lb since yesterday! I have no idea what was going on. I suspect today's result is my true weight. Anyway that takes me to a total of 1stone lost. Will start losing the next one today!

solo I am so big that no one has even noticed that I've lost weight but I'm actually ok with my body. I don't mind people seeing me naked even with the saggy boobs, mother's apron and cellulite! I just know I would look better slimmer and I would set a better example to my dc. I also, if I'm really honest, think dh would fancy me more. I'm alright with my body but I'm not sure he is.

Solo · 21/07/2014 00:02

I find that the time of day for weigh ins makes all the difference. I get up, have a wee and weigh in.

OP posts:
gunsandbanjos · 21/07/2014 07:20

I ate too much last night and felt awful, really painful and ill :-( I made a lovely meal for my parents ( slow roasted pork, cauliflower cheese and roasted new potatoes, then homemade shortbread with berries and cream). Delicious, but I got distracted with conversation and didn't eat mindfully.

Solo · 22/07/2014 13:12

It's a new day guns so don't beat yourself up, just start over ~ lesson learned!!
