Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

Can I join you guys? I've followed the PM woe before and had really good results. Tried every other diet going in the last few years and as a result I'm the heaviest I've ever been :-( just short of 12 stone which makes me very sad!

Solo · 24/06/2014 02:05

Welcome guns come on in. I'm a bit off my game atm with illness, but there are great people on here and you will find great support :)

Thanks solo, it's so nice to find an active PM thread somewhere! All the others I found on the net were like 2/3 years old. Hope you feel better soon, I've been floored by a combination of a cold and terrible hayfever:-(

Should probably share a little background, I'm 32 and a single parent to an amazing little girl, I work for a bank. Currently weigh about 11st 12 give or take...

Looking forward to joining you all Smile

ALittleFaith · 24/06/2014 18:12

Hello guns! Welcome :) We are a friendly bunch and committed to the WOE. I'm Faith, 32, 5ft 4 and 13st 10lb (weighed myself today). I've been Pauling for 2 and a hack years. I did have a baby in the middle though (she's 14 months now) so not quite as slim as I could have been.

I'm up and down still but running 3 times a week. Need to read more of the FFEE book.

I will also help with the crumble Wink

colleysmill · 24/06/2014 21:19

Hello is there room for another newbie to the thread?

I used icmyt about 2 & 1/2 years ago successfully combined with starting to run and lost my post pregnancy weight after struggling for 2 years.

I recently had ds(2) after which I had a few digestive complications which meant I could only eat small meals, only ate when I was hungry and little bits of what i really fancied really slowly. Oh and I actively couldn't overeat and consciously stopped when I was full. Sounds familiar doesn't it!?

Unsurprisingly the baby weight (&half a stone more so 21 pounds in total) fell off in 3 weeks and I felt fantastic. Sadly I've slipped back into old habits and half a stone has crept back on and I feel distinctly less fab.

So I know it works, I know I can do it, I just need to actually do it. For my health I'd like to lose 3 and a half stone and be in a normal bmi, but I'm focusing on getting that fab feeling back and not having to worry about every outfit I ever put on.

ALittleFaith · 24/06/2014 21:53

I can vouch for this one I know her pretty well

colleysmill have you fitted the gastric band?

colleysmill · 24/06/2014 22:01

Not yet, I'm just reading the book at mo :) Its interesting reading

TooBigNow · 24/06/2014 22:24

Hi Gunsandbanjos and Colleysmill welcome to the group. Smile

gunsandbanjos · 25/06/2014 21:19

Thanks for the welcome Smile

ALittleFaith · 26/06/2014 08:53

Morning all! How we doing?

solo meant to say sorry you're still ill :( I really hope they get it sorted soon.

BBB are you still around?

Well I'm still running, 3 times a week. Gradually improving my speed and stamina. 5.2 miles so far this week, 9 last week! Also refitted the gastric band last night and used the CD this morning, I forget how quickly I feel full when I listen to it!

TooBigNow · 26/06/2014 13:37

Well done with the running Faith you're doing great with it!

I've found that the gastric band is more effective for me a couple of days after it is fitted rather than the same/following day.

Lost another pound, so now up to 24 lost with PMcK. Grin
Going out to dinner tomorrow. Will have to concentrate on eating slowly!

gunsandbanjos · 26/06/2014 18:44

That's a great loss altogether toobignow! How much have you got to lose if you don't mind me asking?

TooBigNow · 26/06/2014 22:25

I've still got a long, long way to go yet gunsandbanjos. I had lost just over two stones over a period of 14 months prior to PMcK, so nearly four stones altogether. Target is about another 8 stones!!Shock

ALittleFaith · 26/06/2014 22:37

That's a fantastic start toobig! In the words of Bon Jovi Woah you're halfway there!

gunsandbanjos · 26/06/2014 22:39

Got to love some Bon Jovi! Going to see Richie Sambora in concert next Thursday.

colleysmill · 27/06/2014 08:12

Morning! Well it's been a good week so far and I've slipped back into it quite well although I find it harder follow the rules when I'm not at home - when I went out for a coffee with friends I munched through 4 biscuits without even registering them. Still it's something to work on.

I've also done the old mn favourite 30 day shred (up to day 9 & level 2 - I'd forgotten how tough l2 is though) every day and I'm feeling v positive. Bit of a challenge this weekend as we are going away camping & much beer may be involved :)

TooBigNow · 27/06/2014 13:05

Only a third of the way there unfortunately, Faith.Sad
But, much more confident that I will get there this time!!!!Grin

ALittleFaith · 27/06/2014 17:08

Get in, I weighed myself and I've lost 5lb! Grin not weighed myself in a while so I'd say that's over 3 weeks since I started running.

JDD · 28/06/2014 08:37

Well done alittlefaith, that's excellent.

I'm still following PM and this thread. I've been doing it since the end of April and I do feel I've changed my eating habits. I'm generally eating more slowly, stopping sooner and snacking less. I haven't had any out of control binges at all but I have overeaten from time to time.

I don't think my weight has gone down but I'm doing weight training so that might be why. I'll have my body fat percentage measured on Monday so hopefully I'll see that I'm getting leaner.

yippeekiyay2 · 29/06/2014 09:11

Hi all, can I (re) join? Last time when I joined this and tried to start PM properly I had many false starts and in the end I got so desperate I went back to ww. I have managed to lost around 9lb with them but keep putting a few lbs on, taking them off and so on and it really isn't working for me. So I started listening to the CDs again but I don't seem to be able to put it into practise. I am in major self sabotage mode due to feeling generally run down, hay fever/cold maybe both, been told that I am not allowed to use contact lenses due to problems with my eye which has really depressed me as I have to wear glasses all the time and I hate them, don't feel like me with them on etc.
I have been running regularly, only saving grace, but I have lost the motivation to even do that at the moment! Really frustrated with myself can't seem to get out of this rut. But I really want to do this. Any suggestions on best way to move forward? Thanks x

KinkyDorito · 29/06/2014 10:48

After a couple of years of buggering about on various diets and getting nowhere fast, I am back and ready to be mindful.

Mr McKenna will once again be sharing my bed each evening...

I just can't not eat what I like, so I have to train myself to eat those things sensibly.

Ready for a long haul. Smile

kazzawazzawoo · 29/06/2014 11:25

yippee I'm in a similar situation. Had a tough year, suffering with health issues and depression, using unhealthy food as comfort. I don't exercise, no time due to work. I'm listening to PM when I get a chance but am struggling to read the book and don't get on with the havening.

Solo · 29/06/2014 12:51

Well done Faith :)
Welcome back Yippee and KD long time no see!

Well, for those wondering about my results. The scan revealed nothing, so I'm being 'referred' Hmm.
I have a Vit D deficiency, so they've put me on a high dose of Vit D tabs. Still feeling crappy, but am at a loss as to why or what I can do.

I have lost 5lbs, but it's the same 5lbs that goes on and comes off, so no real progress, but then again, I've not been Pauling properly. I will try to do better :)
