So a new thread, a new more motivated state of mind.

We will be skinny. No more excuses.

Thanks Beyond.

Do you think your shape is changing because of your daily exercise? How are you feeling about your STS? Your DH sounds sweet.

It's been a pretty good week this week, DS1 is exhausted from school and DS2 is teething like crazy but it's been ok. I had a takeaway tonight but only ate about 1/3 of the amount I normally would. DH is away with work and I couldn't have been bothered to cook, I know it probably won't help the weight problem but I'm so tired.

MrsJoeDolan · 06/09/2014 12:25

Sol have you ever tried the recipes from the Operation Transformation website? I cook quite a few of them and they are pretty good

here are some! but there are more if you google

SolitudeSometimesIs · 08/09/2014 11:45

Hi Mrs, I haven't tried the website, thanks for the link though. Some of them look pretty nice.

Had a rubbish weekend. Ate 2 takeaways, I was so so busy with the kids that cooking was so far down my list of priorities. I know that's such a crap excuse but it's really true. I am back on the low carb - low points band wagon.

How is everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
MrsJoeDolan · 08/09/2014 13:14

Don't beat yourself up. You sound shattered.

BeyondTheSea · 08/09/2014 18:28

Well my scales are conveniently broken, but I think I STS anyway - just can't seem to stay motivated.

Sol - The tiredness makes everything so hard. We will just try and be as good as we can be x

I will be on this thread at the same weight for years

BeyondTheSea · 08/09/2014 18:29

Hello to MrsJoe!

Greenrabbit · 08/09/2014 19:29

Hi everyone. Last week seemed really busy and I forgot to post. Couldn't resist the scales today and I've STS. Going on holiday in less than 3 weeks. Help! I need to lose something 4stone? before so I can justify drinking on the balcony every night! But we're going away for a long weekend on Thursday which will involve meals out as I can't be bothered with cooking!

I'm having trouble staying motivated too. Are you both still on WW? At least we are trying our best. I find it so time consuming (and at times boring) thinking of healthy meals everyone would like. Shopping, cooking (with baby rabbit the clingon stuck to my leg). It makes it more difficult than if I could just please myself.

Hello mrsjoe, I will look at the website later. Thanks.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 08/09/2014 20:39

Did you kick the scales and break it Beyond? I may have lost several scales that way. I think I will be on this thread in years to come and we can reminisce about how much thinner we were.

Where are you off to on holidays Green, is it somewhere hot? A long weekend without cooking sounds lovely. I think you will lose weight in 3 weeks, you did so well losing the 6 lbs over the last few weeks.

Motivation does seem to be low. Do you think it's because the weather is cooling and the days are getting shorter? I made huge big containers of soup and froze them so I have some "ready meals" good to go. I love soup, it's just not a meal. I need to chew stuff to feel like I've eaten.

I know what you mean about having to cook healthy meals for everyone, it's such a pain. I find I also have to taste meals if I'm cooking something different for the kids, God knows that probably really adds up.

I feel like I've hit a tiredness wall, everything becomes a chore and I'm not really finding much enjoyment in ways that I would have previously. I am quite short tempered and the thoughts of hauling my sorry arse around doing the grocery shopping just makes my stomach ache. But, it has to be done. There is no one to come and dig me out of my tiredness so I have to pull myself up by the bra straps and get on with things.

(I know it's meant to be pulling myself up by my bootstraps but I don't have any boots with straps, I have a ridiculous amount of bras though Grin)

OP posts:
BeyondTheSea · 08/09/2014 20:55

I wish I could find my motivation - I think once I gained a couple of lbs I gave up a bit. I can definitely feel a difference, we were out at the weekend and I loo really chubby in the photos. So I need to get back on track.

I have got a baby clingon too, it does make cooking etc difficult. If I leave the room you stands at the stair gate shaking it and screaming! Poor tiny beyond.

I think you could definitely lose weight Green. Even 3-4 lbs would make a difference which could be achievable even with the weekend away?
I think the scales could just need a battery change but I really just can't be bothered.
Although gong to try harder!
Talking of bra's - my maternity ones are on their last legs, I am resistting buying more, surely the baby will give up breast feeding soon????

Greenrabbit · 08/09/2014 21:35

Going to Ibiza. It better be hot. It's our first family holiday abroad. I'm missing the days when I would sling my stuff in a case and have a trip to Boots for toiletries. I have made many lists this weekend.

Sol I'm just lazy to be honest. I need to be be more organised and stop making excuses. We seem to have lost all routine over the summer. I used to batch cook, but haven't even organised myself to do that recently.
Can you do online shopping? I rarely go to the supermarket now, unless I'm doing a top up shop. I find it easier to avoid the rubbish food too. Although I sometimes feel sad that I didn't buy any wine.
I feel the same way about soup.
Is your baby causing the tiredness? Sleep deprivation is vile, hope it improves for you soon.
DD1 starts nursery next week and all the other baby groups are restarting. I'm hoping it will tire them out so they'll sleep more and because we'll be out the house more it will stay tidy. Then I can spend time cooking instead of picking up toys.

Beyond my DD is still BF too. I don't quite know how to stop. She's very clingy because of it. I'm hoping she'll start sleeping through so I can try to give up. I also want some nice new bras.
I went outside to get the washing in tonight and left her with DH. She was banging on the door covered in snot and tears wailing. Are all 2013 babies high maintance?

I'm going to make an effort to lose afew pounds before we go. As you said if I really try I might manage 3-4. I'm planning on walking to nursery and back once a day too, it's at least a mile away so it should help.

We all need private chefs, nannies and personal trainers. We'll be thin in no time. Just need to win the lottery first.

BeyondTheSea · 08/09/2014 21:44

Apologies for all my typos - tiredness....

BeyondTheSea · 08/09/2014 21:45

How lovely Green - Am sure you'll have a fab time.

I think I only need a nanny - that would free up my time to cook, shop and exercise.

Maybe I should try couch to 5k (which I mentioned months ago!)

Greenrabbit · 08/09/2014 22:04

When would you fit that in Beyond? I started it the other year (never finished) and quite enjoyed it. DH used to finish work earlier then so I would fit it in on an evening. Would you run outside or on a treadmill?

I think I'll swap the chef for a cleaner. I used to enjoy cooking.

BeyondTheSea · 08/09/2014 22:22

Oh can I have a nanny and a cleaner?

I think I could probably fit a run in about 0330 Hmm

MrsJoeDolan · 08/09/2014 22:27

sorry, I should have said hi before barging onto your thread. I'm 2 stone away from pre-preg weight. I'm struggling much more than after my first. :(

I followed the operation transformation programme for a while last year. Lost 1/2 stone put back on again but it worked with the exercises and recipes laid out for me.

BeyondTheSea · 09/09/2014 07:01

Do stay MrsJoe - I will try and take a look at the website later. I've also got 2 stone to lose. How old are your DC?

JuniorMumber · 09/09/2014 17:29

Hope you don't mind me joining. I'm 7 weeks pp and I'm feeling very despondent about my bod. I've eaten pretty well since the birth and have been breastfeeding - and even started jogging in the evenings two weeks ago. Haven't shifted a single pound (obviously excluding the bulk you lose straight after the birth - placenta, water etc...) how long does it take to firm up again and how hard do you have to work? Also - the shape of my body has changed, I've lost my arse, my ribs are wider and my thighs are much chunkier. Do your pre preg proportions come back?

JuniorMumber · 09/09/2014 17:31

I forgot to mention back fat. Honestly I could cry looking at it. Urgh.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 10/09/2014 12:07

Hi MrsJoe and JuniorMumber.

I'm liking the talk of cleaners and nannies. I've always imagined that my life would be great if I had staff (can I add a chef and gardener to the list too...and possibly a plastic surgeon while we're at it).

I've lost 2 lbs this week, who knew that never sitting down would be beneficial to weight loss, even if I'm not working out I must be burning calories. DH lost under half a pound and was quite annoyed, but he didn't stick to the plan and he drank tons of beer, I'm not quite sure what he expected.

Junior I have no idea how long it takes to firm up. Tbh I'm pretty sure my stomach is ruined due to polhydramnios during pregnancy. I think you're putting yourself under a huge amount of pressure, it's only been 7 weeks. Having said that, I was on ww at 2 weeks post partum and I'm still plodding along on it. I have "structural" changes since giving birth, my ribs are wider and my hips are definitely wider, I really don't think they'll move back to their previous shape.

I have back fat too. But also a second arse that seems to be creeping up my back to hug my shoulders. I have no words of immense comfort but be sure that you're not alone. There is no greater shock than the sight of my post-pregnancy body, I looked like I'd melted. I'm in awe that you are jogging. If I'd attempted to jog so soon after giving birth my innards would have fallen out of my fanny.

MrsJoe did you find the operation transformation system any good? I used to watch the show (while eating crisps) and I liked the results.

Just back from my weigh in group/coffee meet up. It was ok. GBL has lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks even though she laughingly confessed that she ate non-stop. She brought home made fat free eclairs with her, that were neither home made nor fat free. She claimed they were made from whipped fromage frais and sweetener and the pastry was a recipe from the internet, that she conveniently couldn't remember the website for. I am convinced they were just Tesco ones.

Everyone tried them, I don't eat buns or cakes so I declined. Apparently they tasted just like the real thing. I had to stop myself from shouting "Of course they taste like the real thing, they ARE the real thing". She's off on holiday soon so I won't have to put up with her for much longer.

And you're right Green, she looks very old and grey. Her skin is so loose she has jowels on her face which she never had before. It's like she's lost too much weight too quickly. Finding it quite hard to put up with her "weightloss is easy if you're focused" mantra. It's hard enough being overweight without someone else making you feel bad.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 11/09/2014 21:37

Hi JuniorMumber congrats on your new baby. I have no real idea about the firming up etc as I was hopelessly unfit before I got pregnant. I lost weight after DD1 only when I stopped breast feeding (she was one). TBH I just couldn't find the motivation before that. I didn't exercise much, I did the Davina post natal DVD which helped a bit. As Sol says take it easy, especially with the jogging. I do know people who looked fab after a few weeks. Others went to bootcamps when the baby was 12 weeks and lost weight and toned up. I suppose it depends on how determined you are and if you have someone to look after the baby for you. At the moment I would just eat well, drink lots of water, walk every day and sleep lots.
I wouldn't worry about not losing anything straight away, I think it takes time to adjust.

Sol Well done on the 2lbs. Yay! Are you feeling/seeing much difference yet? Thanks for the GBL update, she is a right bitch. I do not believe the eclairs were fat free or homemade. Who on earth would bother making those for a start? And I googled and couldn't find a recipe for anything of the sort. I've never heard of whipping fromage frais either either. Low fat things tend not to whip very well and go all gloppy. She is a diet saboteur that one. I also have a hatred of low fat cakes. I think they are pointless. I'm not a massive fan of cake (I'm just massive), but if I'm going to eat some it had better be the real thing. Grrr
Anyway, it sounds like she has a terrible diet, she'll get scurvy and her teeth will fall out. Don't worry, you'll get the last laugh.

In other news I saw some pics that DH took last weekend. I thought I looked nice at the time, but I just look like a swollen elephant dressed in black. In one picture I thought 'ooh my legs are slim' then I realised they belonged to my 8 year old niece. So I ate some crisps to feel better.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 12/09/2014 11:18

Oh Green, don't be so hard on yourself. Is there any chance that your clothes are swimming on you because you've lost weight and they are making you look bigger? I need to wear slightly more fitted clothes now or I look like a dropped cake. Maybe try wearing darker trousers with a lighter coloured top. Block colours are often very overwhelming to the eye because you can't see where one body part ends and another begins. And if your clothes are baggy they aren't going to show off your figure properly.

I completely agree with you about low fat food, it generally tastes so chemically and fake. I've never tried cooking with fromage frais, it sounded so bullshit to have eclairs that are healthy, the whole idea of them is to be delicious and fatty. Loving the thought of GBL being skinny and toothless.

I have noticed changes. I have lost 2 inches off my waist and my size 16 trousers are now loose around my thighs, though sadly not around my stomach though my muffin top is gradually receding. It's not a huge change but I am embracing the small ones. Every little achievement should be acknowledged.

Have to go back to the hospital for a check up and I'm going to be weighed again. I'm actually panicking. SO it's zero points soup until Thursday. Very little solid food shall pass these lips. Has anyone any ideas how I can ditch a ton of weight in 3 days???

I could pledge to eat dust only and have a serious workout schedule in order. But it would be huge lie. I'm probably not going to workout once so I'm looking for quick tricks.

I'm also going to be measured around my waist so I can't even wear hold-me-in underwear. Ugh!!

How's everyone else getting on after the weekend?

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 15/09/2014 21:52

Been away for the weekend, so I don't feel the diet went so well! Back on the straight and narrow now.
Don't worry about your check up, you've lost weight so you should be proud of yourself. I hardly think they have patients dropping stones between appointments. But I think the soup diet might do the trick. Maybe avoid salt and carbs? Good luck with it anyway. I would hate to do that so I think you are very brave.
Good news about the loose trousers too, what size would you like to be? I think a 14 would be fine for me.

Thank you for the kind word about the pictures. I was wearing an old maternity shirt, so not exactly well fitting. It's so difficult figuring out what to wear. I used to be an hourglass so would wear more fitted things otherwise I could look bigger than I was. Now I have a massive stomach, the muscles at the top are split and bulge out and I have loads of flab at the bottom (it's like a B shape which I sort of tuck into trousers)So I wear tops to disguise the stomach, but it doesn't show that I actually still have a waist. Anyway I've bought a few new tops from H&M and feel slightly better, but I'm going to start my exercise programme to strengthen my core muscles after my holiday. (she says again!)
DD1 started school nursery today so I feel I must make more of an effort with my appearance!

SolitudeSometimesIs · 17/09/2014 15:30

Soup diet was a disaster, I bloody well gained weight. My body is taking the piss.

Wearing maternity clothes when you're not pregnant is a disaster. They drape in such a way to highlight a bump, so any sort of tubbiness looks a million times worse. I have worn my old tops when cleaning or painting and they really do look crap. Can you remove all maternity stuff from your wardrobe for the time being, to stop yourself relying on them?

I've started holding my stomach in while driving, it's not exercise but it engages my core. I have my seat really upright to encourage me to sit up properly. I hope you feel good in your new tops, new clothes can be very confidence boosting.

How is your DD getting on with nursery? I look like a slummy Mummy at school drop off. I physically can't get up any earlier to make a big effort and every time I have put on a nice outfit DS2 has vommed all over it.
