I am going to lose this 2 stone, for good!!

FlossyMcgrew · 03/03/2014 12:19

I will be taking "after" pictures on July 1st.

I took before pictures yesterday and they are awful. I have at least 2 stone to lose. I have joined other threads here before, with some success. Then quit after getting halfway to my goal and gaining everything back in half the time it took me to lose it.

I am 5 foot 6, have been wavering around the 12 stone mark since having my 2 dc within 13 months. Youngest is now 2.

In my "before" pictures (which I won't post until I get to post them with my afters!). It is painfully obvious that nearly all of my weight is around my middle. This is particularly worrying as my family history is full of diabetes, heart problems, cancer, strokes- you name it.

My plan is this:

MFP to track my calories

30 day shred or alternate 30 min workout 5 times a week

More conscious eating. Re-reading Paul McKenna, "I Can Make You Thin."

Easy on the carbs. My current 2 slices of toast breakfast, 2 slice of bread sandwich and crisps lunch, and insert random carb heavy dinner here, is doing me and my middle no favours.

Drink more water. At least 4 pint glasses per day.

Chew gum instead of mindless snacking.

No baking. I can think up any excuse to bake, and then of course I have to test my product--no more!

And that is basically it.....

I am hoping that I can make all of these things my new way of life, rather than a diet.

I am tired of hating myself in every picture.

I am tired of refusing to buy new clothes in this size, and looking like a slob as all of my clothes are old and don't fit properly.

I want to be healthy and I want to be here for my kids for as long as possible.

I want to be a good example for my kids.

I would like to feel attractive again.

I am going to check in here at least once a week. Monday morning weigh in to keep me honest over the weekends. Please feel free to join me, or cheer me on.

I don't want to be a diet bore in real life so I am going to use this thread for my rambling instead.

So here goes......

Week 1
12 Stone 7 Blush

Ooh never heard of Balletfit-think I am too big to be graceful!

Just signed up to a half Marathon charity walk in September with work to make sure that I keep up my walking and excercising after I get bck from my holidays! Gives me another target!

RunningKatie · 16/05/2014 08:56

i have cycled this morning, may try for a walk this afternoon.

I am going to book onto spin next week, stop wibbling and get on with it.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun Smile

RunningKatie · 19/05/2014 12:37

Weigh in today: 12.5, so 7lbs down from 1st march.

Need to stay focussed, my initial goal is sub-12 for the end of June. Not currently being helped by a summer cold and dh working all hours.

Hope everyone's ok Smile

FlossyMcgrew · 19/05/2014 13:25

Quick check in from me to say I need to refocus, but I am still here!!
Another week with no loss, luckily no gain this week, but I'm in serious danger zone of going back to yo yo ing, I am not going to let that happen!
We got the invitation for the wedding that was one of my original motivators.

I fell down and seriously screwed up my leg last week and have been using it as a excuse to fall off the wagon.
DH is out of town this week so I am going to seriously buckle down!
Good luck everyone!
Hi RunningKatie you are doing awesome, hang in there!

1lb off here, but I gained all last week so that's just me back to where I was a couple of weeks ago. Need to knuckle down and make some progress now.

Sorry to hear about your leg flossy

RunningKatie · 19/05/2014 19:21

Oh flossy, hope your leg is improving. How long till the wedding?

Howi - I did a lot of that back and forth with the same lb which was frustrating. Now I need to knuckle down again too.

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 20/05/2014 09:26

Flossy hope your leg is better soon.

I have lost 1lb this week.
Total loss is now 1st 2lbs

had too much cake this week so need to get back on it properly!

FlossyMcgrew · 20/05/2014 10:42

Well done on the losses howi and Amelia!!

The wedding we are going to is July 17th, so there is time to get that second stone off yet, just can't afford any more slip ups.

Thanks everyone about my leg, silly mistake, wasn't paying attention and fell down the stairs. Worst of all I was holding my daughter, it was really scary. We are both ok, but she had quite a few bruises and I bent back my foot and leg so hard that my entire foot is bruised and I strained my calf muscle--never knew how painful that could be!
seems to be improving so I may try a seriously modified version of the shred tonight. When I'm exercising I seem much more motivated to eat healthily as well.

Good luck everyone

Hope you are ok Flossy! Ok ladies we need to dig deep and stay in the zone and keep at it.
I too feel that if I'm not careful I could start to slip up -had a takeaway on Fri night (although it was the first for a long time) and nibbled a lot. Had put on 1.5lbs by Sunday but that is back off again after an extremely tough Insanity class last night and lots of healthy eating and water since Sat.
I did enjoy my takeaway and a couple of coke's too.But I eat way too much -felt so bloated and awful on Sat morning so it really wasn't worth it. I could have eaten half the size of portion!
Anyway back on form this week-we have put a lot of hard work in we deserve to see it through and reap the rewards! We will look fab for summer Smile
I don't want to go back to yoyoing and feeling rubbish all the time.

RunningKatie · 20/05/2014 14:42

Our nearest sports place does an Insane workout I've noticed magenta, how fit do you need to be to do it?

I've lost another lb, so 12.4 now, baffled how but a lb is a lb! Smile

I am going to do a parkrun on Saturday. It's going to blinking rain isn't it? Sad

magentastardust · 20/05/2014 18:38

I think other classes are starting emerge but obviously can't call themselves Insanity so are Insane work outs or 1000kcal work out or HIIT workouts I would imagine they are all much and such.

It is hard but you will definitely manage-in my class there are a range of people from semi pro footballers to overweight woman (me!) and young teenage girls. Everyone finds it hard and everyone is full on sweating!

There is a lot of jumping, abs work , planks, burpees that sort of thing and you will ache in the following days but you will also feel brilliant.

I am a couple of stone heavier than you and I can manage it you will def be able to do it. Go on try it!

Have a google on youtube and watch a couple to get the idea. Its a bit scary the first time but I dragged along a friend. There are also slight modifications for some of the excercises if you tire or can't manage the full on one's they do. It is in sections too so keeps changing so feels a quick class.

magentastardust · 20/05/2014 18:39

PS well done on the pound.

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 20/05/2014 20:42

Flossy that does sound scary. Hope you are both feeling better soon.

FlossyMcgrew · 20/05/2014 23:33

Thanks for the post magenta you are absolutely right, time to dig deep and remember how far we've already come.

And it is so true, in the last few weeks, where I've been slipping back into bad habits, snacking, having wine, bigger portions, etc, I have actually felt really crap! Disappointed in myself and generally irritable and down.

I did a very modified version of shred tonight, and feel more motivated already.

Thanks Amelia we are both much better now, it was just one of those careless moments, where you can't help but think it could've been much worse. My little dd was much more brave than me, I was a mess!

Good luck everyone

RunningKatie · 21/05/2014 21:20

How is your dd today Flossy and your leg?

I have an absolute horror of doing things with ds & dd, I would wrap them up in cotton wool all the time if I could.

Today I have walked loads, and I also bought what I thought was a healthy M&S meal, then I calculated the calories and I've gone over Hmm - it probably was healthy until I added the wine.

FlossyMcgrew · 21/05/2014 23:29

Much better today thanks, not quite up for running or jumping just yet, but getting there!
We are all a bit more careful on the stairs now, so that's good.
I was also over on calories today, but only about 50 so not terrible. I skipped the shred tonight so I could get to bed early, and here I am unable to sleep.
I saw on MFP that you walked a ton today, well done! Must increase my activity levels, going to try and take dd for a swim in the morning. She likes to kick around with her armbands and I can do some makeshift water aerobics/leg exercises without the impact.

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 22/05/2014 08:06

Glad to hear your DD is on the mend Flossy.

For some reason I am finding it very difficult to resist cake! I was doing really well until I went to the school last night for DD3s new parents evening for when they start school. I could have had savoury or a biscuit or even been really sensible and had nothing! What I actually did was have a square of Victoria sponge cake!

On Sunday I had 2 slices of cake and an ice cream! This is not good!

As of today I need to refocus! I have shredded again this morning so now need to focus on what I am eating!

Hope everyone else has a good day Smile

FlossyMcgrew · 23/05/2014 07:39

Morning everyone, feeling motivated and better prepared now. Have got lots of healthy food choices in the house now. Need to get my activity levels up.

Hope you managed to stay away from cake Amelia! My DS 's preschool had a charity event last week and there were so many cakes! I was the same and instead of saying no or choosing something small and light, I had 3 different cupcakes?! Not exactly the way to eat when trying to lose at least another stone.

That was last week though, back to making better choices again now!

Good luck everyone :)

I am still here, can't get on via the app which is frustrating.

Trying to stay focussed, supposed to be parkrunning tomorrow but we are forecast torrential rain. I'm a fair weather exerciser!

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 23/05/2014 18:12

I have managed not to eat any cake yesterday but I did have TWO slices yesterday Blush they were my lunch but I really didn't need both! One was lemon drizzle cake and the other was Victoria sponge.

I have done much better today but think an early night might be on the cards so I don't raid the kitchen.

RunningKatie exercise in the rain does not sound like fun!

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 23/05/2014 19:11

I have managed to not eat any cake today that should say!

FlossyMcgrew · 25/05/2014 08:52

A motivational quote/pic for this bank holiday weekend. Today will be filled with BBQ, nibbles, drinks and puddings. I will choose wisely!
Hope everyone is doing well :)

I am going to lose this 2 stone, for good!!

Chicken tikka naan sandwich - so unhealthy but yummy. I have carried ds in the sling all round Meadowhell today, he only woke up when i had to go for a wee! I count it as strength training Smile

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 25/05/2014 17:51

Chicken Tikka naan sandwich sound delicious!

Flossy I do like a good old BBQ, enjoy yourself.

I have been a lot better the last 2 days. I managed to stay away from the cake at church this morning and just had a plain digestive biscuit. I have lots of meals and nights out booked in the next few weeks as well as a weekend away so will need to be super careful! Getting into clothes I couldn't fit into a month ago is definitely helping with the motivation.

howiwonder · 26/05/2014 14:35

Quickie check in from me, weigh day today. 2lbs off, so 12lb in total. Wedding anniversary today and we are out for meal tonight, such a rare occurrance for us that I have no intention of holding back so there will be many many calories happening tonight!!
