I am going to lose this 2 stone, for good!!

FlossyMcgrew · 03/03/2014 12:19

I will be taking "after" pictures on July 1st.

I took before pictures yesterday and they are awful. I have at least 2 stone to lose. I have joined other threads here before, with some success. Then quit after getting halfway to my goal and gaining everything back in half the time it took me to lose it.

I am 5 foot 6, have been wavering around the 12 stone mark since having my 2 dc within 13 months. Youngest is now 2.

In my "before" pictures (which I won't post until I get to post them with my afters!). It is painfully obvious that nearly all of my weight is around my middle. This is particularly worrying as my family history is full of diabetes, heart problems, cancer, strokes- you name it.

My plan is this:

MFP to track my calories

30 day shred or alternate 30 min workout 5 times a week

More conscious eating. Re-reading Paul McKenna, "I Can Make You Thin."

Easy on the carbs. My current 2 slices of toast breakfast, 2 slice of bread sandwich and crisps lunch, and insert random carb heavy dinner here, is doing me and my middle no favours.

Drink more water. At least 4 pint glasses per day.

Chew gum instead of mindless snacking.

No baking. I can think up any excuse to bake, and then of course I have to test my product--no more!

And that is basically it.....

I am hoping that I can make all of these things my new way of life, rather than a diet.

I am tired of hating myself in every picture.

I am tired of refusing to buy new clothes in this size, and looking like a slob as all of my clothes are old and don't fit properly.

I want to be healthy and I want to be here for my kids for as long as possible.

I want to be a good example for my kids.

I would like to feel attractive again.

I am going to check in here at least once a week. Monday morning weigh in to keep me honest over the weekends. Please feel free to join me, or cheer me on.

I don't want to be a diet bore in real life so I am going to use this thread for my rambling instead.

So here goes......

Week 1

Yes RunningKatie, so much for a heatwave for a fortnight!

Lamby80 · 08/05/2014 17:39

Magenta, thats amazing, well done you! I should have lost about 8lb so far but only done 3lb, i can feel myself slipping! Going for a run tonight, i like running in the rain!
My dress for the wedding is still tight below my boobs and wondering whether to cave and buy a bigger size or try to lose an inch in 3 weeks. I feel if i buy a bigger size, i am giving in. X

RunningKatie · 08/05/2014 20:44

I did yoga tonight instead of shredding, I am aching already!

Running the rain sounds almost appealing Lamby, if it was a light shower I'd go for it :)

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 08/05/2014 23:16

RunningKatie does yoga help with flexibility? I make a bit of wood look bendy :)

RunningKatie · 09/05/2014 20:19

I think it does Amelia, I've done it again today and I know it's stretching me which is good as I get quite stiff and injury prone if I run too much.

I'll be on my feet for hours tomorrow, helping at a nearly new sale for hours.

Happy weekend everyone Smile

howiwonder · 09/05/2014 20:46

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I am definitely going to have put on some weight this week, have been eating everything in sight!

I'm definitely starting some form of exercise tomorrow - have the option of starting the couch to 5 k as have downloaded the app, of go swimming, which I've been threatening to do for weeks.

Also starting a new yoga class on Monday as I love yoga but have practised very little recently , so looking forward to getting back into it.

Enjoy your weekend all Smile

howiwonder · 10/05/2014 11:10

Day 1, couch to 5k done! Harder than I thought it would be...

ThatsNotAKnifeThatsASpoon · 10/05/2014 11:53

Howiwonder, stick with the c25k, it's tough but so worth it. I started around 2 months ago and by week 4 or so thought I'd never finish it. Fast forward to this morning, I just did my first 5k park run in 31 minutes -I am so chuffed Smile

And frankly amazed at what our bodies can do with some training and perseverance. Stick with it, you'll be so glad you did once you do your 5k. I'm going to keep this up now as I think it's a lot easier to maintain a level of fitness like this with regular exercise rather than starting from scratch. Next job: strength training/core work to tone the wobbly belly...

Happy weekend everyone!

howiwonder · 10/05/2014 23:10

Thanks thatsnotaknife, that's really reassuring to hear- well done you!
I have ran in and off over the years, and even got okayish at it pre children, so I suppose when I looked at c25k I thought it would be pretty easy. How wrong was I?! Underestimated how bad my fitness was. I think you're right to keep going with the running because it's amazing how you can go all the way back to square one if you don't keep it up.
I should be having a rest day tomorrow but if I'm not too sore, I might try and do my second run then as it really doesn't suit Monday.

FlossyMcgrew · 11/05/2014 23:34

I'm back from our caravan adventure! I wasn't too terrible away, although I did drink quite a bit, but don't mind as had lots of fun with DH, we needed that! I've actually been worse with food since we got back home. Going to get back to it with a weigh in tomorrow, little bit worried, but it has to be done. It's ridiculously easy to slip back into bad habits and mindless eating. Need to nip it in the bud.

Amelia well done on your loss so far, making wood look bendy made me chuckle. I am the same!

Welcome ditsygal are you on MFP?

Happy belated birthday howiwonder and well done on couch to 5k!

magenta that is fantastic!! Really inspiring, well done.

Glad to hear it's going well RunningKatie. I've always thought about doing yoga, but that's as far as I've gotten! Over the years I've seen quite a few friends get really into it, and they all look fantastic.

Lamby good luck with the running and your dress!

ThatsNotAKnife you are so right about maintaining fitness rather than starting from scratch again. Can be a slow process to build it up, but it's amazing how quickly it can be lost. Just like weight loss and healthy diet, it seems. Makes me a bit nervous about my week that I just took "off".....

The scales will tell in the am, gulp! I will be weighing after peeing, maybe even naked if it helps!

Good night and good luck all!

Flossy How has the weigh in gone?

I have done D7 L2 of the shred, it is not getting any easier!

I was going to walk into town on Thursday but just remembered I am getting my hair cut first thing and I won't get there in time unless I drive. Will walk in next week.

We have a new Gary Rhodes restaurant here and I am taking my parents and brother as a thank you for all the help they give me. I think it might include a few too many calories :) we aren't going until the beginning of June so hopefully a few more pounds will be off by then. Our usual places to eat are Table Table or Morrison's so I'm so excited! Grin

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Oops sorry about the double post!

RunningKatie · 12/05/2014 13:49

Weigh in day for me, the scales tantalisingly said 12.5 but decided to switch to 12.6 so another week with no loss.

I know what to do, i start with great intentions and then my focus wavers. Grrrr.

howiwonder · 12/05/2014 17:46

1lb on hereSad oh well, I had fun, time to get back on it now...

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 12/05/2014 19:59

Howi supposedly the quicker goes on the quicker it comes off. I put on a pound and a half one week last month but it came off the following week so hopefully it will be the same for you.

Weigh in tomorrow but don't feel like I have done very well. I'm resisting urge to do it now, but only just.

FlossyMcgrew · 12/05/2014 23:00

Well, crap, that's me up a pound too.

So now....

Week 10?
1 lb gain
11 stone 7 lbs
14 lbs total loss

Back to it! Could've been much worse.

Hoping the difference to me this time will be, ok, I had a little break, and relaxed a bit, but instead of just losing the plot now, I get back to business.

Hopefully that can be my new way of life eventually, just need to get closer to my goals first!

Good luck everyone :)

Put half a pound on this week but I am due on and last time I put on a pound and a half so not too worried.

Flossy we have lost the same amount now :)

magentastardust · 13/05/2014 12:07

Keep going everyone we will get there!
Survived another insanity class it doesn't get any easier but you do feel good afterwards!
Its just keeping going and keeping up the excercise I sometimes find tricky. 8 weeks to go and really need to get my Arms and Legs more toned.
Also determined that my holiday isn't my ultimate goal this time. I need to enjoy it then come back and get back to it instead of spending the next couple of months piling everything back on !!

howiwonder · 13/05/2014 20:10

Magenta, what is insanity?! I keep hearing it mentioned....

RunningKatie · 14/05/2014 12:34

Cartwheeling in, at last i have lost a pound. Grin I know i weigh on a monday but it's now time of the month so i need to keep focussed.

Really chuffed as it means i've lost 1/2 stone in total now. Next goal is to be under 12 stone for my hols, so 6.5 weeks to lose 6lbs. Focus needed!

I've been faffing about on mfp but now back logging again. Also been on a long walk with ds, he's snoring away now.

magentastardust · 14/05/2014 22:24

www.beachbody.co.uk/product/fitness-training/insanity-workout.do

It is classes though not the dvd (I would just sit and watch the DVD with a cuppa and a biscuit)
It is hard but it makes you feel fab afterwards. There are modifications for some of the excercises for those of us who need them!

magentastardust · 14/05/2014 22:25

Well done RunningKatie ! You will do it!

howiwonder · 14/05/2014 22:57

Oooh, sounds scary!

Just looked and no classes near me (just someone selling the DVD set on gumtree) lots of other classes I want to try though, find it so difficult to haul my ass out of the house of an evening though. Once I get home, I never want to go out again

RunningKatie · 15/05/2014 13:40

I am contemplating Balletfit, but i have loads of options, i just need to book myself into something!

I used to love spin but i'm scared i couldn't last an hour.
