Paul McKenna Can Make Us Thin! Thread Number 14 ~ A Simple Title, for Simple Weight Loss and All amongst Friends!!

Welcome to thread 14 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

I just hate rice cakes as they remind me of having to eat light or being on a diet.

I work from home now too. My breakfasts tend to be half a bacon sandwich with ketchup. So yummy. I then had 6 squares of Cadbury fruit and nut a bit later.

Not feeling hungry yet so not sure about dinner.

BlodynRose · 28/01/2014 19:11

Doc you seem to be doing well with listening to the app. What about the 4 Golden Rules themselves?

BlodynRose · 28/01/2014 19:11

Jellyhows things going with you?

ALittleFaith · 28/01/2014 19:18

Hello all. I fell off the thread Hmm I need to kick start things. I have lost a couple of lbs being back at work (yay) but not really focused. I'm thinking of buying the gastric band or FFEE - or do you recommend both?

BlodynRose · 28/01/2014 19:39

Hi Faith....for me the band cd worked brilliantly at helping to control the amount I ate. My tummy gave stronger signals when I had eaten enough.
But since new year when I re started with a different mind set I tend to stick to the basic 4 rules and being extremely mindful of what I eat and how hungry I am. I have lost 8 or 9 pounds since new year and am of a different mindset this year.
Since being on this thread for over a year now my approach to food is so different and I am much more at peace with what I eat.
I think for me the most important thing is having all the foods I love in the house, that and only eating when im really hungry.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 28/01/2014 19:54

Hi faith, how is baby?

Blodyn, am getting better at eating when I'm hungry and stopping when full but not too good at eating slowly and consciously.

ALittleFaith · 28/01/2014 20:07

Baby is fine. Cheeky monkey, busy exploring everywhere -crawling, pulling to stand and furniture walking! :)

Thanks Blodyn.

BlodynRose · 28/01/2014 20:34

In Doc you are doing really well as the hunger and satisfied bits are the hardest in my experience.

Faith little Faith sounds so lovely. How are you now in yourself since being back at work? I know you were a bit low before Christmas. Hope you feel in a much better place now.

8lb is amazing well done Blodyn!

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 29/01/2014 06:27

I was all set to get up for an early morning jog, but instead cosying up in my bed listening to a storm rage outside. Not looking forward to venturing out today!

BrandNewIggi · 29/01/2014 07:10

Morning :) have managed to wait till I finished breakfast before checking my phone, so that's a step toward conscious eating - might make me late for work though! I have had the fee book for about two weeks now, and am still only half way through. I am a fast reader with a reasonable amount of time in the evening, so wtf is going on? I think part of me doesn't want to finish/is scared of the changes!!

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 29/01/2014 08:07

Iggi, is Ffee resonating with you so far? Mine is being delivered today.

ALittleFaith · 29/01/2014 09:05

She's a treasure Blodyn! Helping me lose weight by demanding a try of anything I'm eating. Thanks for asking Blodyn, I'm a lot better. I think a lot of it was sleep deprivation and Faithlet is now night weaned and generally sleeping through (whoop!) so it's a massive improvement. Work is challenging and I miss her a lot but I value my time with her more now. I've started counselling but I'm not sure I want to continue. It feels like going over old ground and dredging up stuff I don't want to dwell on really.

Last night I finally started reading ICMYT again. I'd forgotten how much sense it makes! I feel more motivated today :)

8lb is awesome by the way Blodyn!

Solo · 29/01/2014 10:11

Feeling like there is a positive atmosphere about the place!!

I've not had breakfast yet; not hungry enough.

ALF I don't know why you are having counselling, but I know what you mean about dredging old stuff up that you want to forget. IME though, you often need to do this in order to cleanse the crap away. That's how it worked for me anyway. Hope you are ok.x

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 29/01/2014 10:47

Yep, I had breakfast around 10 today - much better to know I'm not really hungry earlier, generally!

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 29/01/2014 11:03

Iggi I'm exactly the same with FFEE. I'm taking a break from it for now (still following 4 golden rules though) as whenever I attempted it, it just triggered major self-sabotage and bingeing. I know I'm going to have to confront this head on at some point, just not sure when the right time will be. Although I suppose there's never a right time, just need to man up and confront this once and for all, but when food has been a security blanket for so long this is bound to be scary.

BlodynRose · 29/01/2014 11:37

NoGood ....I have name changed....but its me....Milly.
I havnt read or even got a copy of FFEE. Can I ask why you are finding it hard going and Iggi too??? What is in it that makes you feel like bingeing?

MillyBlodyn · 29/01/2014 11:51

Maybe this is a better name.....

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 29/01/2014 12:29

I don't know what exactly it is, but I found the book really unsettling. Maybe it's the fact that it forces you to examine why you emotionally eat? All I know is that I can manage emotional eating on a day to day basis through tapping and distracting myself, but for some reason the thought of following all PMs processes to stop emotional eating forever causes self-destructive behaviour. Silly really, as this is something I really want, or at least I think it is.

PS I preferred BlodynRose Wink

BlodynRose · 29/01/2014 13:01

Well there you go then Blodyn it is.

I couldn't decide between MillyFlower (which is MillyBlodyn in English in case anyone doesn't know) or BoldynRose ( which is RoseFlower)

Anyway I digress.....NoGood maybe I should get the book. It does sound rather unsettling though. The point of hypnosis is to bypass the drama of "why" you do something and just fix it in the present. As Faith has pointed out, delving into the past is sometimes counter productive and causes more problems than if you left it buried and just moved on. The hypnosis for weight loss is to reprogramme the subconscious mind and bypass the conscious mind so its not hard work but simple. Then you start changing things without having to think about it.

For me the Gastric Band cd is one of the better ones but of course the 4 rules are the way to go .

Solo · 29/01/2014 14:14

Well, my afternoon cuppa was my sabotage moment today. I can't seem to get around the 'I can eat it later or any time I'm hungry' for some reason.
I have the remainder of a tin of Belgian choc biscuits (mentioned before), and I don't seem to be able to ignore them and once I have a couple, I have to eat more. I don't know if it's something to do with my Ds. I can buy things for the week/packed lunches/my lunches/anytime etc and I look round and they've gone! last night, I discovered that a pack of Maryland chocolate cookies that I'd hidden in plain sight had gone. He denied, then admitted and said it was ages ago. I said no, because I check they're there daily. He then said he thought I'd been trying to catch him out ~ I wasn't. Last weekend, he came home and ate 4 tea cakes (4 days lunches for me), 2 pain au chocolate, a bowl of cereal, and something else I can't recall. This was in the space of about an hour. I go to get something and it's gone. I had some M&S piggy sweets for Dd, hidden in plain sight and there for ages. Gone! he denies. I know it's not Dd as she couldn't even see up there, let alone climb up and he tried to suggest she had. I'm so hacked off with it. Every day it's something else. Anyway, I've told him I'm not buying anything anymore, so all they'll get for lunch is a sandwich. Sad for Dd though.

Hi Solo I'm going to wade in here and suggest that you keep all your favourite foods in a box where only you can find them. I have a cupboard. Same for your daughter. Then I would suggest that you get your son to tell you what treats he would like on list and then buy them and put it in a box for him. He will then maybe eat them more slowly . I would think he feels bad about food at the moment as he feels guilty.
