Anyone recently had a baby and want a support thread for losing weight?

Wondering if any new mums want to support each other in losing weight. I know there are a lot of new year weight loss threads at the moment but hoping to find others with similar goals - I'm 4 months post partum and breastfeeding so not keen on extreme dieting and too sleep deprived for extreme exercise!

I've got at least a stone to lose but ideally want to lose another half as well.

Anyone in the same boat?

Morning all,

Welcome newbies Smile

Weighed in this morning and another pound off, so 3 since new year. Starting to see the actual shape of my body again...

Went out for dinner last night and ate loads...but doing a long walk this morning to pay for it.

How's everyone doing?

I'm doing terribly.

First AF after birth, about a year before I was expecting it - was 14m with DC1 and 16m with DC2, but ten weeks after DC3. Angry Sad

Anyway said baby has had chickenpox and I've had menstrual munchies and have been mainlining Mars bars to keep up with the poorly one's feeds. DH has hidden the scales because I was getting on them multiple times a day and making myself mad miserable.

Lots of walking though. Fresh air and Keep Walking!

hope everyone else is doing well

MsFiremanSam · 26/01/2014 22:00

Horstia, don't worry - wait it out and just get back on track when all is back to normal. It all sounds too stressful to be worrying about losing weight as well. BrewThanks

Tortoise, well done again!

Had the weekend 'off' too...had a few treats and a break from exercise. Back on it tomorrow. Got the new Davinia DVD and Jillian Michaels yoga to try this week as well. Hopefully booking our holiday too so that will be motivation to keep losing weight!

Well done tortoise and fireman! Don't stress horatio, wait until life is calm again and then concentrate on it.
Scales showed a 4 pound loss for me last week so a stone in total. Had a weekend away for a birthday and was rather naughty with food though so not expecting a loss this week. Back on it today.

tortoisesarefab · 28/01/2014 09:29

well done georgie its great to reach the stone mark.

i was feeling really down yesterday as i feel like i still have so much to lose. i walked for an hour with the children and then went to the gym in the evening. really didnt want to go but glad i did. i have to be extra good this week as am on hols next week

MsFiremanSam · 31/01/2014 12:35

Tortoise, know what you mean - sometimes it's very depressing! Think it doesn't help that I'm refusing to buy new clothes while I'm bigger (on statutory mat pay now anyway so need to save pennies) so I feel frumpy as well...plus very sleep-deprived and look it! Really want to be back to my pre-preg size Hmm

Afternoon :) . Hoping I can join in. I'm 2 weeks post partum after emcs but feeling well enough for gentle exercise.

I piled on 5 stone in pregnancy ( and 2 in the the 2 years leading up to it) and lost 2.5 from pregnancy so far ( was a big baby and had severe oedema!) I'm currently 15st exactly and would like to be down to 11st. Maybe a little less but will see how 11 looks on me.

My plan is starting gently. Lots of veg and keep junk to minimum ( pizza and dessert once a week) and get back out walking. Once I'm up to speed I've a few walking buddies but still healing from CS so don't want to join in the 4 mile power walks just yet. For now I'll walk in circles round the big green across the road so I'm close to home if/when I get sore. I also have a treadmill for wet days but I don't really like it as much as being outside.

DD (11) and I plan to start couch to 5k at the start of march and aim to jog/run the race for life together in June. Think I read others here are planning to do it too?

I'll also return to swimming ( leisurely pace!) once lochia stops.

And I have a few postnatal DVDs for after the 6 week checkup. Really enjoyed antenatal yoga, so looking forward to postnatal version.

Sorry for huge post!

Hi Bluecarrot Smile
Congratulations on your little one!
Sounds like you have a positive plan - you can do it!

Hi all,

I have been lurking but have finally plucked up the courage to weigh myself today and am now joining in earnest!

I had DD2 7 weeks ago and think I am now a stone heavier than I was pre-pregnancy, but I was already overweight then! I am actually 3 stone heavier than I was when I got married 5yrs ago, so I really do have a chunk to lose!

I am 14st 7lb today, my heaviest ever weight (am 5ft 8), and would like to shift a stone in 6 weeks if possible as we are off to Spain and I'd like to look a bit better in photos than I currently do! Do you think a stone in 6 weeks is do-able, given that I am starting off a high base?!

I have already agreed to give up chocolate in February as DH is giving up booze and I thought he needed some company! I really do need to cut right back on all sweets, biscuits and cakes though as they are my major downfall - my last pregnancy made my already sweet tooth even sweeter! Generally I do eat pretty good food - lots of fruit and veg, so I think if I keep that up (albeit with smaller portions), and ditch the junk, that should make an impact.

Exercise-wise I am going to really up the ante on my dog walks, and choose longer tougher ones, which I can do now with baby DD2 in the sling.

Well done to all those who are losing - you're an inspiration!

Felix90 · 04/02/2014 09:14

Hello! Can I join in too? My dd is 6 weeks old and I've just done my first week on 5:2 and lost 7lb Shock I've never been one to have huge losses in the first week so no idea how I've managed that but I'm so happy. I was around 13st 7 pre-pregnancy (was in the middle of dieting at the time) and started at 15st 7 last week. My ideal weight would be between 10-11st I think. I've never been smaller than 12st 7 in my adult life Blush

lisbapalea · 04/02/2014 10:04

felix sounds like we're in a similar position! Well done on losing 7lb in a week - that's amazing!

I was about 11.4 when I got married but that was based on loads of stress and not eating much, so I don't think it's a sustainable target. Once upon a time I was about 10.7 but again that was in my hedonistic youth and I don't think I could ever be that weight without being ill! My ideal target now would be 11.7 - 11.10. That seems like such a pipe dream based on what I am now though!!

Bluecarrot · 10/02/2014 16:41

How's everyone getting on?

I'm 3 lbs down since last week so v happy with that as I've eaten well ( as in it wasn't a struggle and I was never hungry)

Need to get into exercise though!

MsFiremanSam · 10/02/2014 20:29

Another pound last week. Two more pounds until I have a normal bmi again!

Fell off the wagon completely this weekend and ate loads of unhealthy stuff but been very good today. Went for an interview last week and had to squeeze myself into my old work clothes - really need to lose another 10llb before July or I'll have to buy a whole new wardrobe!

Hope everyone is doing well.

OP posts:
MsFiremanSam · 10/02/2014 20:30

Felix how are you finding 5:2? 7llb is impressive!

OP posts:
lisbapalea · 11/02/2014 09:18

Hi all! Well, my first weigh in and I think I have lost 4lb in a week if my scales are to be trusted!

Really pleased and think it just shows how much a difference not eating my usual crap has made! I doubt that level of loss will be sustainable, but it's keeping me motivated to carry on with ditching the rubbish.

I just checked my BMI and last week I was 30.3 (obese). My ultimate target weight, which means losing 3st from last week's weight, would give me a BMI of 24.5, which is actually at the upper end of normal, but having been that weight I know it is one I look healthy at and I realistically cannot imagine ever being less than that.

That's quite depressing though, having a target which is only 'just' healthy!?!

MsFiremanSam · 01/03/2014 18:45

Hi ladies,
Wondering how everyone's doing?
Weight loss has come to a standstill for me this month - zilch. So still got 12llb to lose. Mix feeding DD now but wondering if I won't lose until I stop bf completely.
Had an interview this week and was horrified when I had to shoehorn myself into a work dress...motivation to get back on the plan!
Hope everyone is doing well.
