Anyone recently had a baby and want a support thread for losing weight?

Wondering if any new mums want to support each other in losing weight. I know there are a lot of new year weight loss threads at the moment but hoping to find others with similar goals - I'm 4 months post partum and breastfeeding so not keen on extreme dieting and too sleep deprived for extreme exercise!

I've got at least a stone to lose but ideally want to lose another half as well.

Anyone in the same boat?

Hi everyone, patilla 3 stone is amazing and really encouraging for me as i am doing ww also. I need clear boundaries and i like the points system for that.
Can someone please persuade me to get my lazy backside to the gym tonight? I need to go but i know by the time i have got the babies in bed i will try and talk myself out of it. Been doing well on my diet though, weigh day is sat

MsFiremanSam · 07/01/2014 16:42

Patilla MuTu is a 12 week programme for mums to restore core and pelvic floor function - would post link but on my phone, sorry. If you google it you'll find the website. I'm not doing the whole programme, just the core exercises - There's a book called 'Get your body back' by Wendy Powell who invented the programme which has a lot of the exercises in. She says never to do sit ups once you've had a baby as it can make weakened muscles worse.

Tortoise, tell yourself you're just going to go for 20 minutes for some 'you' time - then when you get there see if you feel like doing longer. You never regret going and you'll feel great when you get back!

Good morning all.

I managed to resist the fried stuff like spring rolls during yesterday's work lunch, which was good. Then DH had opened a bottle of wine last night while I BF DD so I did have a couple of small glasses, but I'm generally sticking to things. The weekend is my danger zone for alcohol and takeaways though so that'll he the tough part.

Dh and I discussed whether we want another LO last night, we agreed we want one more and will probably start to TTC in the summer...eeek! So that's more incentive to loose some bloody weight.

I weighed in this morning; 6lbs off but alot of that will be Christmas bloat and fluid, not that I'm complaining, am glad it's a good start and hope for at least a pound a week from here (would love two pounds, but will see how it goes).

DD woke up for a feed at 4am, and I had trouble dropping back off afterwards so I'm zzzzzzz today. Tried to snooze on the way to work but some idiot in the quiet coach was using it as her own disco - I now can't stop singing Titanium - thanks for that Confused. Will have to try very hard not to turn to cake to stop me feeling so tired.

Hope you all have a good day. Am in awe of those of you managing to exercise as well as everything else!

HoratiaDrelincourt · 08/01/2014 10:53

How exciting angeltattoo! In my experience the baby weight not lost stays on... I was a stone heavier conceiving DC2 than DC1, and a stone again heavier conceiving DC3.

In fairness I was still bf into the next pgy each time, and mc shortly before the healthy pgy, so was carrying extra weight anyway, but still... I feel huge now Sad

MsFiremanSam · 08/01/2014 18:29

Well done angel! That's an amazing loss.

I find the exercise bit the easiest / hardest thing is avoiding snacks and evening wine/Choc in front of tv. Exercise and bf together make me feel ravenous.

Done ok today - did a fitness DVD and eaten mainly healthily. Avoiding scales until I feel thinner!

Can I join too - 6 month post partum, literally just stopped breast feeding and 2 stone to lose! Still can't get into normal clothes!

HappyGoLuckyGirl · 08/01/2014 19:08

Ooh, congratulations angeltattoo! Maybe if you get to your target before you conceive you won't have to work very hard at losing the baby weight next time!

HappyGoLuckyGirl · 08/01/2014 19:10

MsFiremanSam - congrats on managing an excercise dvd. I did 1 day of 30 Day Shred and felt like I was going to die afterwards.

Shows how unhealthy I am Blush

Been out with DS today and I think I've managed about 45 mins of power walking with the pram so not too bad.

Followed SW plan really well so far so hoping that I've lost at least a couple of pounds when I step on the scales tomorrow!

HappyGoLuckyGirl · 08/01/2014 19:11

GeorgieWilson - welcome to the fatbutnotforlong club. Grin

tortoisesarefab · 08/01/2014 20:53

Hi all, msfiremansam thanks for the pep talk, i got myself to the gym to sign up and did about half an hour in the gym. Was proud of myself as i was very self conscious going but i made myself do it. Plan to go again tomorrow evening. Well done on your fitness dvd.
I have managed to avoid snacking in the evening by keeping myself busy. The house is a lot tidier than usual!

lisbapalea · 08/01/2014 21:00

I'd love to join you all! DD2 is just three weeks but as we're no longer breast feeding I have no real excuse not to try and get myself sorted.

I haven't weighed myself yet so will join the thread 'properly' when I have done, but will keep lurking and get inspiration from you all until I am in the right frame of mind to give it my full attention (currently using broken sleep to justify my crappy eating habits!).

My guess is that I will have 2st if not more, to lose. Eek!

MsFiremanSam · 08/01/2014 21:17

Hi georgiewilson Smile

Well done tortoise! It's really hard motivating yourself to exercise but always worth it for the smug feeling afterwards!

Hi Lisba - congratulations on your baby! Very early days so don't be too hard on yourself. I still need caffeine and sugar to get through the day!

How's everyone doing?

Weighed in this morning and 1lb down. That's a stone since October Grin Still a stone to go though.

Haven't really restricted calories too much but made healthier choices since new year. Feeing motivated by the loss so hopefully will be able to keep it up.

Hope everyone is ok!

A stone is amazing, well done.

I have been sticking to it pretty well. Went to the gym last night and burned 200 calories and then walked for an hour and a half today. Weigh day tomorrow for me!

Does anyone know of any good toning dvds? I am too self conscious to use the weights at the gym but toning does make me feel slimmer quite quickly

MsFiremanSam · 10/01/2014 19:51

Thanks tortoise Smile

I'm a fan of Jillian Michaels for all over toning. Did Davina Intense the other day though and really enjoyed it. One of the workouts used weights so felt like it was toning everything.

tortoisesarefab · 10/01/2014 21:38

Is she the shred woman? I nearly killed myself doing that. My knee still isnt right! Does she do a just toning dvd?

MsFiremanSam · 10/01/2014 21:44

Yeah, she's pretty hardcore! She does one called No More Trouble Zones, which is a 45 min ish workout but it's made up of 6 minute circuits so you can do as much or little as you like. It's all toning and weights as I remember.

tortoisesarefab · 11/01/2014 12:08

Wow, weighday for me today and 7lb lost! Cant quite believe it but i have stuck to ww religiously and exercised in addition to running round after 2 kids.

MsFiremanSam · 11/01/2014 20:46

Wow tortoise that is impressive, well done!

Oh, God, ds2 is 9 and I'm still carrying post pregnancy weight. Don't become like me, lose it now Grin

StrawberryTeddybear · 12/01/2014 23:18

Please may I join?

My baby is 8 months and although I've lost 2st since birth, I've got another 2stone to go! I joined WW to help and its been amazing, can't afford the meetings anymore so I need alternate support Smile

I was massive during pregnancy, I put on 2st by the time I was 20wks, it didn't stop me eating so I feel like I've been fat forever! We have our baby's Christening booked for the summer, it'll be a big party with lots of family we haven't seen in years so I must look fabulous, I WILL be in a size 10 dress!

MsFiremanSam · 13/01/2014 08:30

Welcome Strawberry Smile

It's good to have an event to aim for! We're planning a naming day for DD around Easter and I want to lose a stone by then.

Fell off the wagon a bit yesterday but back on it today! Now that the new year gloss has worn gig it's harder to stay motivated...but am very I inspired by Tortoise! Also tend to find when bf that I don't lose for a few weeks then suddenly drop 3-4 llbs over a couple of days. Will be weaning DD in a couple if weeks and starting to drop feeds so hopefully that will get some weight off. Shame I wasn't one of the lucky ones whose fat melted away when bf - I read on a different thread someone said they needed 1000 extra calories a day!!

Hi everyone and welcome strawberry i am doing ww on line and find it really good. I have had a couple of glasses of wine at the weekend and a bit of chocolate but am still within my points and went to the gym yesterday so hopefully i will still lose this week. I am trying not to use all my extra pro points and to not count exercise.

Going to be hard sticking to the diet today as my toddler has hardly slept last night and is a right old nark as a result today. I am definitely a stress/ emotional eater. Going to try my best though and i dont have many treats in but ds has loads of christmas choc so hopefully i can do it. Just keep thinking of my goal.

I didnt lose weight when bfing either but would probably have put more on if i wasnt.

You two have lovely events to aim for. Just keep thinking of the pictures! Thats what motivates me.
