2014 - it's my year .....whose with me??

TisTheSeasonToBeUnreasonable · 27/12/2013 11:26

Right there is no denying it - I am very overweight/obese by BMI charts. I have seen my weight gradually creep up over the past few years and I've now reached the tipping point where I stood on the scales and actually cried Sad

So from now, no more excuses, no hiding behind "it's Xmas/birthday",no lying about my weight to hide the shame. No "I've just has a baby" excuse now the youngest is 8months.

Here goes:

I am 5ft 5in and today weigh 15st 4lb. I somehow wear size 16 (promise not crammed in!) with alright legs, huge butt (always has been!), fat tummy and large boobs.

I would like to lose at least 4st and feel more energetic for my kids :)

Whose with me??!!!

Me! I'm in!

I need to lose 4/5 stones.

Horrid, isn't it?

Laststop · 27/12/2013 11:31

Me my ds will be 2 in March and still haven't lost the baby weight Confused

chocolatespiders · 27/12/2013 11:34

I am with you- I have lost 35 pounds but still have a long way to go.. I weighed 15stone before Christmas but not sue now.

TisTheSeasonToBeUnreasonable · 27/12/2013 11:34

Hi babyjesus it's certainly a horrible feeling - ESP as I've made excuses for so long but I'm trying to focus on the benefits of being even 7lb lighter! Iost 2st in summer 2011 then fell pregnant and gained 2stone, had the baby and lost 1.5st - then fell pregnant straight after and had another baby within 10months which was EMCS - and since then have been comfort eating my way to where I am now :/

What are your plans/motivation to lose the weight?

TisTheSeasonToBeUnreasonable · 27/12/2013 11:35

laststop my eldest is 9 and I still haven't lost the any weight from his pregnancy! Then I had two DC in 10 months and have gained loads since then!

HelgatheHairy · 27/12/2013 11:36

I'm in. DD is 4.5 months and I've lost the baby weight but am still 2 stone overweight. I'm one of the lucky ones, in that breastfeeding has really helped me lose weight so I want to take advantage of that for as long as I have left.

TisTheSeasonToBeUnreasonable · 27/12/2013 11:36

chocolatespiders way to go on 35lb weight kids - that's incredible!!!

Would you mind sharing how you have done this? X

OP posts:
DoItTooBabyJesus · 27/12/2013 11:40

I'm not sure how I'm going to do it. Either low carb or 5:2. Or just at less, move more!

I want to be healthy and fit, so some exercise needs to be added in too. I swim one a week and hike once a week, but it's obviously not enough.

How about you? How will you do it?

TisTheSeasonToBeUnreasonable · 27/12/2013 11:40

That should of said 35lbs weight loss not kids! And a stray kiss crept in - oh the shame

OP posts:
DoItTooBabyJesus · 27/12/2013 11:40

*eat not at

TisTheSeasonToBeUnreasonable · 27/12/2013 11:44

I am trying to make several small changes to hopefully help overall :

Drink 2ltr water every day - I shall fill my bottle in am and force it down by bedtime. Currently average 1/2-1ltr a day :/

I am solely in charge of the tesco shop so I know there are no bad foods coming - if it's not in the house I can't eat it

I am going to start couch to 5k again - I tried it before and found it manageable ....just!

Thanks tis the season... I go to weight watchers. It has been slow mainly I think because I stick to points in the week and at the weekends relax a little bit to much but I love food and can't help myself. I do realise that I want to weigh less so need to be stricter at the weekends to get where I want to be.

RedLondonBus · 27/12/2013 16:26

this time last year I had 6 stone to lose......I lost 5!! took up running and bootcamp and got fit! then along came a new job in November. at that point I had 2 stone to go til target. doable. but no. ive put on a stone!!

so...2 stone to go and back on the fitness bandwagon I think

TisTheSeasonToBeUnreasonable · 27/12/2013 19:25

Redlondonbus that is still an amazing amount of weight to lose you must be so proud! Glad you're here with us - perhaps you can give us your tips?

I've managed to drink almost all my 2ltr bottle today which I feel happy about (although not sure my bladder will thank me during the night)

Can I join please? I need to,lose 4-5 stone in 2014 as I can just see me getting worse and worse if I don't do something NOW. I'm not sure what healthy eating plan to follow? I'm going to do couch to 5k (just ordered clothes so I have to do it) and just...keep...going!

TisTheSeasonToBeUnreasonable · 27/12/2013 21:37

Hi nonky it's good to know there's more people out there with similar goals weight loss wise - motivates me! I'm also doing couch to 5k starting Monday as have ordered new trainers :)

OP posts:
Nonky · 27/12/2013 22:48

Ooh let me know how you get on, perhaps we can be 'virtual' running partners for motivation!

mrsballack · 27/12/2013 23:09

Hiya. Can I join you? I've got about 4/5 stones to lose. This time last year I hit a new high and joined SW. Lost two stones in three month before going away for a couple of weeks and I've not been back on it since. So here I am, 1 stone less than last year and I'll be re starting sw once my parents leave. I won't be able to get to group this time around as all being well I'll have two newly adopted toddlers at home in 3 weeks so I'll need to get my support elsewhere.

Spottybra · 28/12/2013 08:59

I'm in. I will loose my flappy tummy and get it toned for summer. I can no longer use the baby excuse, it really is lack of time and motivation.

Sylvana · 28/12/2013 09:45

OP, I'm the same height as you, haven't weighed myself yet but at a guess I'm a very similar weight to you too. I have decided 2014 is my year too :). I will be starting my diet on Monday morning, I will be doing Lipotrim (food replacement) for as long as I can, then going on to low carb / 5:2. Cannot wait to get started - I'm definately in.

TisTheSeasonToBeUnreasonable · 28/12/2013 10:02

mrsballack did I read that right you are gettibg two new toddlers? That's fab!!! Must say you're awfully brave working out too I'm shattered most of the time!

spottybra welcome! I too have a flappy (and flabby) tummy - I've been blaming the EMCS but saw a friend who is 3weeks post c section who is flat tummy already Envy

sylvana glad to have you here! I haven't heard of Lipotrim so shall be checking that out this morning online Smile

Today i ate breakfast for the first time in months - 2 plain Weetabix with skimmed milk - can't say I enjoyed it but hoping will starve off my mid morning "must have cookies" crash

Sylvana · 28/12/2013 10:31

Just weighed myself and I am 15st 3lbs and 8oz, so I am exactly the same weight as you OP (and height). I did Lipotrim about 8 years ago and I managed to lose 2 stone, I went from 16 stone to 14 stone. I kept the two stone off for years but I've put on over a stone in the past year and i feel dreadful. Lipotrim works but it is not easy. It is a very strict process, you cannot have anything else except the 3 liquid meals per day, you can have tea/coffee but without milk. You have to drink lots of water. It is good for getting rid of cravings, bringing your eating under control. I plan to do it for a few weeks as a kick start - the last time i did it i lost 10lbs in the first week!

chocolatespiders · 28/12/2013 12:18

Just bee to WW to found out I have gained 4lbs over Christmas Sad

About to make some celeriac ad apple soup to get me back o track Smile

Lj8893 · 28/12/2013 14:57

Meeeee!! I'm in!

I weigh somewhere between 15 and 16stone, I will have to weigh myself. And I'm a dress size 16-18. 5"5.

I've always been overweight, and thankfully didn't put too much weight on when pregnant and have managed to lose my baby weight since my dd was born end of October.
But I got engaged on Xmas day and there is no way I will be getting married the size I am now!!

So I want to lose about 5 stone, think I'm going to do it just by eating properly, on a low calorie diet, with a healthy measure of exercise thrown in.

Come on ladies, we can do this!!!

mrsballack · 28/12/2013 23:52

Yes you did read that right. My friend says I shouldn't worry about the diet as I'll have no time to eat. I'm lucky as my hubby had 4 weeks off and then will be working reduced shifts for three months, either first thing in the morning or last thing at night depending on how things are going. I'm aiming to just nip to the garage on the treadmill or bike for 30 mins while he's about. Hopefully it wnt be too long before I can sneak off for a couple of hours and go for a horse ride. I'm dreaming aren't I?
