Anyone got more than 10 stones to loose?

Pipper · 29/02/2004 00:44

I have read through the threads and it seems that most have only a few stones to loose. I know every weight loss is good in it's own right but I have more than 10 stones to loose and I seem like the only one.

I don't know if I have 10 stone to loose, probably as i am too frightened to step on the scales (eek). I was never this big, its just from having my two children, that i seemed to have put all this weight on and I can't shift it, I diet for two or three weeks, and think that i am not loosing anything and sort of get fed up, I think i am one of those people that need constant support and encouragment. I get bored very quickly. But I know i should stick at it, otherwise nothing will happen and how am i suppose to loose this weight if i don't do anything about it. But reading this has made me think, perhaps you know its obviously not just me. And perhaps i should come on here for support that i need. I used to be a size 12 for gods sake, but not no more. I sometimes look at myself and think, ' how did you let yourself get like this'. But at the time i didn't realise, i was too wrapped up in my family, i sort of always came last.

sorry for ranting on.

champs · 15/04/2004 18:39

hi soulfly.... you are deffinetly not the only one.
i feel thet you have to be fairly strong willed to stick to diets and I am lacking in that area at the moment. i am way behind the scedule i set myself and each day i feel a failure.

i am deffinetly gonna give the extra effort this week, are you on a certain diet plan? or are you doing it on your own?

collision · 15/04/2004 19:22

IMO dont panic as we all have off days!

Sit down and make some plans for what you will eat for the week. You have to decide what your 'trigger' is and how you want to use your points. When my DH and I were doing WW he would rather use some of his points on oil for his salad whereas I would rather have plain salad and an extra packet of crisps.

Always have breakfast and take fruit out with you in case you feel the need to eat.

WW bread is great for lunch and some of the soups are quite good too.

If you plan in advance then you are less likely to binge and lose heart on WW. Try and think of it as a healthy eating plan rather than a diet. It is excellent as nothing is forbidden as long as you dont lose it and start stuffing yourself!

What would you say is your weakness? I have my WW books here if you need any info.

Soulfly · 15/04/2004 20:56

I have tried a few from ww, to slimming world, to not eating anything. Last one i tried was the atkins diet, which did work, but i found it really strict, too strict and I am so sick of meat, that i could go veggie quite easily, so I am gonna try a less strict version of the atkins and see what happens. Good luck everyone!s

champs · 15/04/2004 21:09

hi collison.
can you let me know how much points are in flour?
I love dumplings but dont know how many points that would be.

how many points are in oil? My mum fries them.
I like to put boiled dumplins in low point soup.

I find myself craving cake too.

Soulfly · 17/04/2004 16:09

I don't know about the dumplings i am afraid.

I was wondering about pipper, and how you have got on. And what diet you doing?

champs · 18/04/2004 01:44

hi soulfly... as you will see down the thread pipper is me blush

I changed my name cos I was soooooooo embarased but messed up and gave the game away.

I am at the moment trying WW. SW made me feel very ill and as am b/f cant afford to feel ill, was told by hosp to take things very easy and to rest etc etc.

glitterfairy · 18/04/2004 08:17

OK am biting the bullet and joining in. Have no idea how much I have to lose but it is loads! I have tried and tried ww and others and have for now given up on the diet and joined a gym as I feel that exercise will help me feel better. I have lost three clothes sizes and feel happier doing it this way as I know knowing how much I have to lose will set me off into a flat spin of bingeing!HAve a fab book called the obvious diet which has really helped. diet

Can you eat the candles?

sarochka · 18/04/2004 14:12

Hi I would also like to join in this too. I understand Soulfly what you are saying. I used to be a size 12 3 years ago and then got pregnant, gave up smoking ( good thing) but ate as much as I could. I am now huge. I try for a few weeks and then feel a failure and give up again and it is making me more annoyed with myself. I can just about manage so many aspects of my life but weight is another story. I am doing SW at the moment but going to Rosemary Conley exercise classes which I enjoy. Although RC diet does not work for me. I lost 3 pounds this week which is more than I have managed to lose in 3 months. So I guess that's an incentive to keep going but I love chocolate .....hey ho

glitterfairy · 18/04/2004 15:38

Chocolate is also my downfall although alcohol really is the worst! I am specially addicted before and during period, and when I've had a hard day so that leaves...............

champs · 18/04/2004 16:04

glitterfairy---- well done!! 3 dress sizes is great and alsogood on you for joining the gym. I lack the confidence to go to one. I do a lot of walking though and i have seen the difference. I am also gonna start dancing to music at home.

hi beety!! how r ya? I think the candles also help to stop you craving sweet stuff like chocolate.

sarochka--- well done on your loss!! It can be frustrating at times can't it?! keep up the good work.

glitterfairy · 18/04/2004 19:21

HI champs. You sound as though you are battling through too. The gym is fab because am often fitter than slimjims with size 10s on and it is ladies only no one minds what anyone does or looks like. Realised though that I was puffing very hard but had headphones on and didnt notice. Even though I had been to gym made fairy cakes with kids this afternoon, in a fit of motherhood before back to work this week, and ate a load of smartie toppings and minstrels to decorate them with. Oh dear!!!!!!!!!!

champs · 18/04/2004 23:17

glitterfairy---- last minute baking must be in the air, i made banana muffins other day and ate 2 on the same day a 1 the next....

glitterfairy · 19/04/2004 08:04

No its the dreaded holiday hurrah back to work today no more trying to be good muvver and baking with the little darlings. can go back to liquid lunchs (obviously I mean carrot juice!)

glitterfairy · 19/04/2004 10:29

By the way banana muffins sound scrummy perhaps you could pop the recipe on for when we all need a treat? My kids obviously would like them and if I get up to 20 minutes on the terrible cross trainer I could have one or two!

champs · 19/04/2004 19:37

lol!! I must admit I didn't make them from a proper muffin recipie but just add ingredients to a sponge reciepie i always use so they wont be exactly like muffins, but they taste wonderful so ....

175g sr flour
175g marg/butter softened
175g sugar ( brown will give a better taste but
white is fine!!)
3 eggs (beaten)
3 extremely ripened bananas mashed( best if you leave them to go very brown)
2-3 tbs golden syrup
1-2 tsp baking powder
1-2 tsp vanilla or banana escense.

heat oven to gas mark 5

put all ingredients into large mixing bowl. lightly fold mixture till all ingredients come together. Dont beat mixture and dont over mix. texture should be thick/rough.
put muffin cases into muffin tin and put mixture ito cases leaving a little space.

cook for 25 mins or until golden brown.

nb. if you want to be good use low fat marge/butter, and granulated sweetner instead.
wont taste as nice tho

glitterfairy · 19/04/2004 19:52

Thanks champs can smell them now but am good and waiting for supper of salad when dh gets home! Did have a glass of wine at lunch bad but realxing after hols and celebrating being back at work. 10 stone to lose is getting nearer not further away!

champs · 19/04/2004 19:56

your welcome glitterfairy. i have a month till ds2 christening and 2 months till go back to work. hopefully that will motivate me.

glitterfairy · 19/04/2004 20:15

Champs it is really really hard when they are little and so difficult to resist when bf. Although my ds 8 told me yesterday that he didnt want me to lose too much weight as I would no longer be cuddly. Bless! Shame I feel more than cuddly and I am sure he wont notice too much as have so much to lose that the odd stone here and there will make no difference to him but all the difference to me!

champs · 20/04/2004 00:59

bless him!!!
i find i get really hungry just before i need to feed ds2, i think it's the rush of milk and I crave something....NOW.... and it's never a craving for salad!!
