Can I join you guys?
I am a life time member of WW ... but as some of you know 6 weeks ago I had a monster sized baby and now am carrying around an extra 2 1/2 stone
Sad thing is is that I have alrady lost 2 stone since dd was born ....
I spoke to my doctor about when I could diet and she said that I could start now if I wanted. If I was having trouble producing milk she would say not to but as I am producing enough to keep quintuplets going she is not worried about my going on a diet ...
So ....
I am going to start my own breastfeeding program (would go to the classes but don't have the time) .... I think I further down that I can have 28 points ... that is LOADS!
Starting weight ... today 11 stone 12 ... goal weight - 9 stone 7 ...
Keep everything crossed for me folks

Ghosty · 16/03/2004 19:27

Oh .... I know some of you might think that 6 weeks is a bit early but I really really hate this extra weight ... it fell off with DS but doesn't want to go anywhere this time. I will take it slowly and if I feel tired or ill or if my milk production is compromised I promise to stop ...

SecondhandRose · 16/03/2004 19:33

HI Ghosty, WELCOME!

Well, I am now on week 5 and have nearly shed a stone. My treats are Fab lollies (1 point) tons of sugar free jelly (no points), meringues 1-1.5 points depending on size. Also I have Snack a Jacks, taste like cardboard but they keep me going during the day.

I admit to eating a lot of ready meals too but the points are pre-calculated and I find it easier. Tesco healthy eating meals and some of the sandwiches have WW points stamped on them.

I also buy the M&S count on us range.

I also watch motivational programmes often on Health and Living (Discovery) channel 196.

I have lost 5" from my tummy. I can't believe my waist was 37" - so gross.

jasper · 16/03/2004 22:37

go for it Ghosty.
I did the same as you -fat with fully bf baby (2m old) with 2 and a half stones to lose. Stuck to 28 points a day and shifted the weight.
Good luck.

Demented · 16/03/2004 22:41

Good for you Ghosty, both times it has taken me a year and half to find the motivation to lose weight I am in awe of you!

BTW I am starving tonight and have used all my points, grrrrr, and no I don't fancy salad!

wog · 16/03/2004 22:50

Hi everybody just wanted to let you know that I went to my clas on Sunday my to get to my 10% goal I have to lose 16lbs - no doing to badly today although felt sick all day with hunger - I am on 20pnts

Ghosty · 17/03/2004 00:40

Not got off to a great start ... had some friends round today who haven't yet seen the baby and they brought round some yummy home made muffins .... Ooooops
I only had one and I wrote it down as 3 points. I always found it best to write down 'naughties' in my book rather than ignore them otherwise I lost track and would not stay on the straight and narrow ...
Can we do recipes here ... I have a really good, low point pasta recipe if anyone is interested ?....

jasper · 17/03/2004 01:29

yes I am Ghosty. Fire away.

Ghosty · 17/03/2004 03:40

Ok ....
Basically ...
loads of veggies (onions, carrots, cougettes, mushrooms ... anything else you fancy that is point free) stir fried in a weeny bit of oil (or the spray oil is good) ... throw in some herbs like basil or oregano and some garlic.
Chuck in a tin of tuna ...
and a tin of tomatoes.
Meanwhile cook 250g of pasta ... bows, shells, any kind really ... the multi coloured type looks good.
Mix it all together in an oven proof dish
Top with WW cheese ... 30g ...
Bake for 20 minutes in the oven until the cheese has browned.
Easily serves 4 people especially if you serve with a nice green salad.
Yummy ... and easy peasy.

Pasta = 10 points
Tuna = 2 points
Cheese = 1 1/2 points

Total = 13 1/2 points .... divide that by 4 and each serve is ... um ... 3.375 points ... let's make that 4 ...

It is filling too!!!

Coddy · 17/03/2004 08:16

wots the sat fat per 100g demented?

jasper · 17/03/2004 15:55

very tasty.
WHat about chucking on a little more cheese so it takes it up to full 4 points a serving? Am I obsessed?
Yes

Ps Ghosty are you in a different time zone/insomniac/night feeding?

marthamoo · 17/03/2004 16:17

I am on Day 3 and I am starving

miranda2 · 17/03/2004 16:26

I'm getting by on bacon stir fry - one meal a day is this! 2 slices of bacon (3 points), loads of point-free veggies (onion, pepper, mushroom, courgette, broccoli etc), stir fried in no point spray oil. Only 3 points and really filling.

Also meringue nests are only 1/2 point according to the book I've got, so they're a good treat.

I find it ends up getting a bit Atkins - its easier if each meal is either carbohydrate or protein plus veggies, rather than both.

marthamoo · 17/03/2004 16:28

Going to go and make my WW spag. bol. now - piddly portions of pasta

Allegra · 17/03/2004 17:09

Marthamoo, I'm on day 3 too. I have joined online as couldn't get to classes.Feel I've done nothing for the last couple of days but think about food and try to work out points.

CountessDracula · 17/03/2004 17:35

That's what I don't like about WW. Plus feel starving all the time.

Demented · 17/03/2004 18:31

Coddy, it only just gives fat, doesn't state saturated fat. I am happy enough to go with RexandBen's 2 points though. Sounds about right?

mammya · 17/03/2004 20:14

Could someone with a point calculator please tell me how many points there are in an Okanagan Fruit Snack? It's 48Cal and 0.2g fat (trace sat fat) for each bar.
Thanks!

collision · 17/03/2004 20:25

Try this at the weekend for a WW cooked breakfast

Per person

2 Quorn Sausages 2pts
2 Turkey rashers 1pt
1 egg fried in spray oil 1and a half points
Loads of mushrooms fried in spray oil free
2 grilled tomatoes free
2 slices WW bread 1pt

An English breakfast for 5 and a half points

Coddy · 17/03/2004 20:29

half I am guessing

mammya · 17/03/2004 20:31

Was that for me Coddy? That seems about right doesn't it?

SecondhandRose · 18/03/2004 19:46

Am on week 5 and have now lost 13lb and heading for the stone on Sunday. Keep it up girls, I feel so much better and am now a size 14 instead of a 16.

The weight came off my face first and then from my tummy, I am still waiting for my thighs to decrease but my butt is definitely smaller (thought you'd really like to know that).

Gonna have a Fab lolly b4 bed, 1 point.

marthamoo · 18/03/2004 19:59

Thanks for that 2ndhandRose - I needed a bit of a boost. Well done for losing 13lb

Allegra, how are you doing today? Today has been better for me, not quite so hungry! And last night when I started getting nibblish in the evening I had an ice lolly - only 1 point and it lasted for ages and satisfied my need to put something in my mouth (ooer missus!)

That cooked breakfast sounds appealing, collision, maybe on Sunday...maybe dh could cook it for me while I have my Mother's Day lie in!

CountessDracula · 18/03/2004 20:00

how many points in a bag of iced gems?
And how many in soup that is 45 cals and 6g fat?
And finally (my bugbear) a Cafe Nero Blueberry Bran low fat muffin.

Thanks!

Allegra · 18/03/2004 20:49

I have had more snacks today so spread my points better and wasn't hungry. I found barbecue snack a jacks are quite filling and you can almost persuade yourself you have had a bag of crisps. I also tried Safeways eat smart toffee cake slices at 1.5 slices each- delicious though its hard to stop at one.
