Hello all.

I have lost 3.5lb! I have had a reasonable week, not 100% brilliant, but sometimes it is hard to know what to expect. It all evens out in the end though and I did STS last week. I am really pleased with that. Just 11.5lbs to go to my mini-goal of 'overweight by Christmas'.

Mia, I think you are being hard on yourself. You may not be perfect but you are obviously doing much better than you think. I see on MFP that you are actually doing fine (sticking to MFP, for a start!) and come under your calorie goal pretty often. I think now, when we are not having a good day we are all much more aware of it. It is good to be mindful but we have to be careful not to get depressed or derailed by it.

Tired, you've done really well this week and overall - not far off the 2 stone mark now. The meds don't sound much fun but better to be on them if you are high risk. And losing weight can only help the situation.

Isaac, I know where you have been propping up my favourite Christmas thread. Sorry about your cold, I have one too now courtesy of DS. But got my Letterbox delivery yesterday which cheered me right up!

Well done Phantom too, 2 lbs is really good, that is the average I have been aiming for.

Henrietta, Shock at the iguana situation! That is tricky, DS wouldn't sleep without Doggy. I hope the tears stopped eventually...

Have a good day everyone. I like Wednesdays now as the thread is usually quite active and even if I haven't had a good week, others have and I find that quite motivating.

IsThatTrue · 02/10/2013 07:13

Well I'm 3lb down this week!

Starting weight 14stone 1
Current weight 11stone 2.

Nearly 3 whole stone gone! My first target was 10 stone 7 but that is the very high end of normal so I could really do with getting to 10 stone, but I've never been that weight as an adult so we'll see.

Well done to today's losers! I hope everyone gets what they hope for.

MiaWallace · 02/10/2013 07:24

Thanks for the support ladies.

It has given me the boost to try for a good day which will hopefully lead into a good week

Sirzy · 02/10/2013 07:28

3lb off today. :)

Starting weight 15 stone 13
Today 13 stone 1

Got to get into the 12s next week!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/10/2013 07:57

1.5lb off today! I'm really pleased with that because it is the pound I put on last week gone plus a bit more :)

Start weight 13st 5lbs (down from 15st 9)
Weight this week 13st 1lbs

Sirzy I hope to join you in the 12s!! Grin

Well done on all the great losses everyone!

IsaacCox · 02/10/2013 08:10

Grin Birding I think I'm a little bit addicted to bargain hunting I should start charging commision Grin

Thanks, I hope you feel better soon, I know it sucks! :( Glad you got your Letterbox delivery too, must be a relief!

Good luck all weighers today and well done to all that lost :)

HerdyHerdwick · 02/10/2013 09:05

I have STS which means that in the last two weeks all I've achieved is gaining 1lb !
Going to see GP tomorrow about a weight related problem, will have a chat with her about my weight/eating issues.

Well done to everyone who has lost!

LittleRobots · 02/10/2013 09:13

First week and I've lost 1 pound. However I've also just finished the time of the month . . . So may just have lost the bloating :-( I've not managed to stick to my plan very well, but I'm binging overall less and making slightly better choices. I struggle thinking 'I'll just have x y z' which in itself isn't much but I need to break the habit of eating.

Still onwards and upwards for the second week. Thanks for having me john you!

LittleRobots · 02/10/2013 09:18

16 6 from 16 7 last week. Its a shocking number. I find I have to really talk myself into believing small steps will make a difference.

Sirzy · 02/10/2013 09:20

they will little. It has taken me since may to lose just under 3 stone but the difference is really starting to show now. Slow and steady changes to lifestyle rather than crash dieting certainly working for me.

IsThatTrue · 02/10/2013 09:46

little slow and steady is the best way to lose weight and keep it off. Mines come off quicker than I expected but I think that's because I'm exercising and breastfeeding. Keep going you're doing fab!

MissElodie · 02/10/2013 09:56

Morning all,

Well done on all the losses and STS too Smile

mia I'm glad you've been given that boost now to think today is a new day so forget about last week and don't be hard on yourself Smile

littlerobots well done on your 1lb loss - I know it may not seem like much in the grand scheme of things but the small steps really will get you there. I started similar to you at 16st 9 and I've found it helpful to think in terms of half stone targets. Whatever you lose (and I'm sure it will be more some weeks) is a loss and not a gain, that's how I think about it as I know if I hadn't started on this 'diet' I would just continue to go up and up the scales!

I have lost 3lb this week Grin I'm really pleased as I totally went off track yesterday and stuffed my face with chocolate so I'm glad its not done any damage. Now I'm back focussed again after that little blip!

Oh and I've hit the one stone mark yippee Grin
Start weight:16st 9 Current weight: 15st 7

good luck to everyone still to weigh in today.

ImThinkingBoutMyDoorbell · 02/10/2013 10:37

Morning all. Mind if I join in? I just saw this thread in active convos today and I'm trying to get back on top of my weight loss.

Today's weigh in was 70.4kgs, or 11st 1. I started in January at 84.4kgs, or 13 stone 4... I'm now close to my original goal which was 10st 7 but need a final push!

Mostly consistent, apart from a few holidays and illnesses and up-all-night-with-baby weeks. But I had a wedding as my target event 10 days ago, and a particular dress to fit into - and when I achieved that target I've been lacking in motivation to keep going ever since! So after a lot of eating crap this week I am getting back on the wagon!

clarinetV2 · 02/10/2013 14:14

Hi and welcome Doorbell and anyone else I haven't said hello to yet. LittleRobots I completely agree with what others are saying about slow and steady - I know it's difficult when others are posting 'exciting' losses of 3+ pounds in a week, but very few weeks have been like that for me. It took me over a year to reach goal weight, loads of weeks just losing a pound or staying the same. Got there in the end though!

I've stayed the same this week, which was the result I was aiming at, but I didn't stick to my new maintaining plan. I ate much more than I'd intended on Friday/Saturday, and then made up for it by going back to my original weight loss plan from Sunday. So overall it's balanced out but it's probably not a good idea to have a carb-fest for two days a week so I'll try to even things up a bit in the future.

I have a long weekend away coming up, and I'm sure I'll be reporting a gain next Wednesday. This is part of the plan too. I need to be able to enjoy myself around food in a 'normal' sweet-toothed way instead of in a binge-y way iyswim. So I'll be eating cake at afternoon tea-time, and sweet deserts - in the old days I wouldn't have eaten treats in full view of everyone as I would have felt watched and judged, but I would have sneaked off on my own from time to time and eaten huge amounts of chocolate. Not any more!! Instead I'm aiming to have a lovely relaxed time enjoying good meals and good company, secure in the knowledge that I'm not on the slippery slope to losing control, and whatever I gain can be lost again with a few weeks of careful eating. Fingers crossed...

Lorelai · 02/10/2013 16:17

Well done all on the losses so far, and welcome Doorbell. It's nice to have people around who are towards the other end of their weight loss journey, to inspire us who are still right at the beginning.

I'll be back later to report my result, hoping for a decent loss, fingers crossed!

Reastie · 02/10/2013 16:19

STS here, which is OK. I'm in full AF flow and feeling bloated so not surprised. Well done on losses and hello newbies. Sorry I'm so rubbish at keeping up Blush

LayMizzRarb · 02/10/2013 16:35

2.5 lb off today. Hope everyone gets the results they are hoping for!

moonshine · 02/10/2013 17:50

I'm also down 2.5lb .

I've had to work really hard for that, including missing meals combined with low-cal. I know, not ideal but it's the only way I seem to be able to lose any weight with my messed-up body.

Can't wait to be able to actually button up my mac which is straining at my huge stomach.

Well done to all - it's a long long journey for some of us but if a year ago I'd made a deal with the devil and taken even a 1lb loss for every month I'd been dieting, I'd be a twiglet now.

HenriettaPye · 02/10/2013 18:02

2lb for me too :)

OP posts:
moonshine · 02/10/2013 18:08

Sorry, meant just a lb for every month I've dieted as obviously it would have taken more than a year at that rate!

SummerHoliDidi · 02/10/2013 19:04

0.5lbs off for me this week. I know I cheated a bit so that's ok. I've gone back to basis now and am writing everything down. So next week should hopefully be a bigger loss.

I haven't read everyone's posts yet so well done to all the losers and comiserations to anyone who's put on.

Lorelai · 02/10/2013 19:42

4 lbs off :)

ImThinkingBoutMyDoorbell · 02/10/2013 20:05

Well done everyone who lost and stayed the same (that is an achievement in itself some weeks).

Thanks to the PP who suggested I was inspiring being further along the track - sadly I find it harder to stay motivated at this point than at the beginning! I can see the changes in my body, I have a waist again and can fit into most of my pre-baby clothes, so while not as slim as I'd like I'm happy, and therefore a bit complacent!

MyFitnessPal is my trusted friend, I like watching the graph go down even if it is just 100g a week, and it has been on many occasions... The NHS bmi calculator tells me I've gone from 30 - obese!! - to 25, healthy in the last 9 months. Must not lose sight of that! Grin

Debs75 · 02/10/2013 21:14

I am going to say STS as I missed weight watchers on Sunday and I don't weigh myself at home if I can resist as my scales are out.

I did succumb to a kfc today but I used my ww app and worked out the cheapest points wise meal which would leave me feeling satisfied. I had some chicken strips with dip which were gorgeous and didn't break the bank. For tea it was more soup with a plate of vegetables instead of bread. I don't feel hungry and have managed to stay under my 31 points for today.

Madamemyway · 02/10/2013 22:05

Hi I have had a bit if a blow as had a hip injury get lots worse and a steroid injection today so not been able to keep focused on the weight loss and have sts so still at 15 stone.
Have been eating better though since Monday and got lots more healthy food in so will not give up!
Well done on all those who lost, it is good to hear it is possible. :-)
