Hello quiche avoiders Wink

Lovely shiny new thread- we are a talkative bunch!

First Thread

Second Thread

To be a quiche avoider you must
-have a considerable amount of weight to lose
-be serious about wanting to lose it
-give other members a virtual kick up the arse when needed
-weigh in with us on a Wednesday (or if you weigh in on another day, post your results on a wednesday)

So roll up, jump in and lets lose lbs! and if you are having a moment of weakness just remember... what would clarinet do Wink

I haven't been on this thread for ages, oops!

But actually all is plodding on quite well chaotic few weeks but still managing to keep on top of things. Weight loss has slowed right down but can really see my shape changing.

And this week I managed to just about fit into size 12 jeans!

Reastie · 04/12/2013 06:48

STS here. WL is very slow now.....but I will get there.

Sirzy well done on the size 12. Sounds like we are both at the same point - very slow loss and just about fitting in a size 12 :)

debs it's really tough keeping up motivation when you feel like you have alot to lose. I know I just felt fed up with the whole thing and how long it would take. All I can say is I feel amazing now I've lost alot of weight. Give yourself little targets to get to with little (non food) rewards once you get there, long journeys were made by lots of little steps (or whatever the saying is). And have a treat every now and again or life would just be beyond dull Grin

Henrietta hope the appointment goes well, it's been a long time coming for sure.

phantom how's the job going?

Sirzy · 04/12/2013 07:48

I have not been size 12 since I was about 12 so very happy with that.

Lost 1lb this week which takes me to 12 stone 9. I want to lose another 2lb before Christmas then by this time next year I want to be under 10 stone.

clarinetV2 · 04/12/2013 10:29

Henrietta that's great news about your appointment. I do hope it goes well and you don't end up on another huge waiting list.

Debs, I know the feeling of needing a rest. I had one last Christmas/New Year. I can't remember how much you weigh at the moment, but it sounds as if a few more months would take you to a healthy weight/size if you're already managing an 18. I think I was around an 18 this time last year, and I hit my final target and fitted into size 10/12 this October, with the last few months of weight loss over the spring/summer being very slow and a couple of breaks along the way.

I've lost two pounds this week. I've been low-carbing for the last few days (I can only keep it up a few days at a time!) to try to build up some 'calorie credit' for the next few weeks. From this weekend onwards I'm going to find it very difficult to be careful, and to be honest, I want to enjoy myself 'normally' around food, so I'm resigned to putting on weight. I think my target will be not to put on more than half a stone in the next month! Or maybe that should be ten pounds? I'll see how this next week goes and take it from there. I like targets I can reach fairly easily, as nothing demotivates me more than missing a target.

B52s · 04/12/2013 11:07

Lost half a pound!!! Does that count as a loss?

LottieAndTheDinosaur · 04/12/2013 11:46

hello all - small but obvious namechanger here Smile

ahem I have PUT ON 3lbs Angry Angry Angry Sad which explains why I have been AWOL all week as I have been too busy stuffing my face with everything and anything for some reason. I even carried on last night when I had eaten so much I felt sick and my stomach hurt Blush I'm really cross with myself as I have just been out of control and not making any effort whatsoever Sad

well done to those who are staying motivated as its so hard - how are you managing?

hope it goes well today henrietta

god i feel so urgh and cross with myself - worst is I still want to eat crap - putting on 3lb in a week should give me a push to try and find the bloody wagon again...wherever its got to by now!

sorry for the moan Sad will try and find some positvity and return!

IsThatTrue · 04/12/2013 13:37

I shall catch up later but 1lb up for me this week. Ds2 is ill and we've lived on conscience ce food as he won't be put down. I've also taken possession of our new house but it was full so I've spent this week eating it out. It's almost done now but I haven't been able to run at all. So I'm taking the fact it's only 1lb as a win!

Starting weight 14stone 1
Weight last week 10stone 4
Weight this week 10stone 5

IsThatTrue · 04/12/2013 13:45

Convenience food and emptying it out Hmm

B52s · 04/12/2013 14:35

Oh Lottie, that was my rock bottom when I ate so much much it hurt, then ate more anyway. It's what energised me to start that very day. I hope you can find that wagon again and do something small this afternoon/evening to help step back on it.

Reastie · 04/12/2013 14:40

Gosh yes Lottie , I remember on many occassions eating until I was full and then just eating anyway until I felt like my tummy would burst. And then feeling the awful guilt afterwards Sad . You WILL get there. This sounds really cheesy but looking at weight loss pictures online of real people who managed it has really helped me keep on focus, that and doing a bit of exercise. A bit of a blip will just make you appreciate the losses even more.

B52 of course it counts as a loss!

Isthattrue how is the ill DC?

phantomhairpuller · 04/12/2013 17:56

Aha Lottie I beat you... 5lbs on this week!! Blush

Hen, can I have a prize for fatty of the week please?! Confused

God knows what happened, I missed a fast day but that cannot have done THAT much damage!

Well done everyone else, whatever your loss/gain. You've clearly had a better week than me Angry

MarysDressSways · 04/12/2013 18:03

I'm down 2lb this week. I'm pretty pleased with that as I've had a few big dinners!

moonshine · 04/12/2013 18:29

Phantom - could some of that be water retention/totm?

Although it took about 3 weeks, I managed to put on nearly 8lbs and the dress I wore for a party in October is too tight to wear to my work Xmas do tomorrow Confused.

But for this week (taking my Monday weight for these Wednesday declarations) I am 1.5lbs down.

So don't despair Lottie, the wagon finds us all again at some stage, so hop back on board.

This time of year is so hard. I don't have a particularly good social life but still seem to have lots of overeating and overdrinking opportunities.

Next week I have a food tasting and have 14 dishes (which will be full-sized) and 7 wines to taste Shock.

Reastie · 04/12/2013 18:40

Phantom weigh yourself again in a couple of days and I bet the result will be more in line with what you were expecting.

moonshine hope you've got something else you can wear?

IsThatTrue · 04/12/2013 20:13

reastie he's doing much better today, I managed to get him in his own bed for the first time in 4 days tonight. He had an awful temperature and was being sick, couldn't even keep breastmilk down for a while. Fingers crossed we're over the worst. I must say its nice getting into my bed alone (well just with DH) even if I am doing it at 8pm as DS was up at 5! although I did hand him to DH at that point and mention the words smothering with a pillow if he wasn't removed from the room

I eat way too much when I'm tired!

Debs75 · 04/12/2013 21:24

Thanks Clarinet I have lost around 2.5 stone in two years with a mid break gain of 10 pounds. I am now 13 stone 11 which I haven't been for some time, which is good.

Size wise though I have only gone down 1 true size, although I can get some size 16's on at a push. The exercise has taken a back seat since October so after New Year me and dp are going to go to the gym once a week. I need some toning up and dp has lost 3 stone in the last 18 months or so and wants a final push for that last stone.

No weigh in for me as WW leader was away at the yearly conference so class was cancelled. Going back on Sunday and then I am aiming for maintaining but with a maximum weight gain of half a stone over Christmas. I think I just need to be a bit easier on myself whilst the holidays and birthdays are upon us, 2 parties and 3 meals out plus Christmas dinner in one monthSad

On a happy note I got my Christmas dress for our party Saturday night. It is an 18 but it is a dress. I only do maxi dresses but this is a very pretty sparkly knee length dress. It looks nice on and teemed with my 4 inch glitter heels and shimmery tights I will sparkle at the ballXmas Smile

moonshine · 05/12/2013 14:01

Thanks Reastie but, for the 3rd year in a row, one of my dcs is sick on my party day (and they are rarely sick!) so I can't go again Hmm.

Actually I am not particularly devastated as it stops me over eating and drinking and I don't want to socialise with most of my work colleagues.

Instead, whilst ds is on the sofa, I have done an hour's hard gardening and will try and do some cleaning

Debs75 outfit sounds gorgeous - I love sparkle and bling and would wear it all year round if I could get away with it! Have fun!

clarinetV2 · 05/12/2013 18:06

Your dress sounds lovely, Debs - hope you have a great time at the party. Can't believe you were out gardening today, moonshine. Very intrepid of you!

How did your appointment go, Henrietta? I've been thinking about it.

BirdingWidow · 05/12/2013 20:01

I am still here but a disgrace to the thread... 1.5 lb up and counting (toffifee are in tescos, disaster!). I feel bloated, feel as though I am just waiting for Christmas to be over!

Henrietta, how did it go?

moonshine · 06/12/2013 11:34

BirdingWidow of course you are not a disgrace to this thread - there are plenty of people doing very well, but there are many of us (speaking as someone who is heavier than when I originally joined!) who are not. Not yet, but that is the key as we will get there eventually if we persist!

So budge up on that bench, we'll grit our teeth and survive December and all its excesses, and then we're going to go for it big time - deal? I feel a chorus of 'We Shall Overcome' coming on.....

Sirzy · 06/12/2013 12:15

Remember though this is a long term thing so a bit of Christmas indulgence is fine as long as you remember the long term goal.

HenriettaPie · 06/12/2013 18:27

Ladies I'm going to have to bow out from this thread. (Not that I've been around much lately anyway!)

With my ongoing health problems I just feel I have enough to worry about without feeling guilty that I'm not sticking to diet and exercise too. Got the coil out (hurrah!) however have a repeat lumbar puncture next week.

I do hope you all continue the quiche avoiders and hopefully when I'm in better health I will rejoin! Thank you all for all the advice and support you have given. You've been my rock. Thanks

Reastie · 06/12/2013 18:40

Oh henrietta Sad are you sure? You could just stay on here to say hello to us and see how you go with no pressure or expectations. Best of luck with your health problems and thank goodness you got that coil out finally

Birding absolutely not a disgrace. If I'm honest I realised this morning I actually put on a lb this week not STS . Think about the big long term picture, it's just a blip.

We are doing secret santa at work and mine gave me a pack of chocolate coins today. Lovely as the thought was, I've been chomping through them and really didn't need the extra will power (or lack of)

debs dress sounds lovely, hope you have a great time.

Exhausted today from a busy week, so have been eating too much from tiredness. Tiredness really is a killer when it comes to me and dieting.

LottieAndTheDinosaur · 07/12/2013 12:02

Aww Henrietta that is a real shame Sad but totally understandable you need to concentrate on getting your health problems sorted. I hope you might pop back on and say hello sometimes - you are our group leader Wink.

THANK YOU Flowers Flowers so much for starting this thread though honestly - it was just what I needed at exactly the right time and if I hadn't of come across it and found you and the other likeminded people on here then I probably wouldn't have lasted as long as I have. Ok so I'm not doing great at the moment but I'm still keeping up with the thread and hopefully will be getting my bloody act together soon and I'll be telling you lot to nudge up on the bench and joining in with the 'we shall overcome'! Wink

I'm so glad you have finally got your coil out and I hope your health problems start to get sorted and you feel better soon Flowers

clarinetV2 · 08/12/2013 10:58

Henrietta, I'm glad to hear you've got rid of the coil, and I hope your lumbar puncture goes well next week. It's completely understandable that your health is the priority for now. I want to echo Lottie's Flowers Flowers and thank you for starting this thread which has been really important to me over the past few months. No pressure, but if you feel like popping in from time to time and letting us know how things are with you, it would be lovely to see you.
