Hello quiche avoiders Wink

Lovely shiny new thread- we are a talkative bunch!

First Thread

Second Thread

To be a quiche avoider you must
-have a considerable amount of weight to lose
-be serious about wanting to lose it
-give other members a virtual kick up the arse when needed
-weigh in with us on a Wednesday (or if you weigh in on another day, post your results on a wednesday)

So roll up, jump in and lets lose lbs! and if you are having a moment of weakness just remember... what would clarinet do Wink

Whoever came up with Cadbury chocolate with Oreos is a horrible horrible person!!!

Damn you!! I have eaten an entire bar! Mind you, my bad mood won't have helped. Ds2 is like a bloody limpet today, he's normally so chilled. And my new job, which I start on 2nd dec, have informed me that I have an induction training WEEK. 9.30-4.30 every day.
So now I have to magic up childcare for the entire week ConfusedAngry
Wine will definitely happen tonight.

Anyway, as you were ladies Blush

Debs75 · 22/11/2013 21:45

All 3 of my DD's are poorly DD3 has a chest infection which I think she has passed to DD2. There is also a sickness bug going around DD2's school so fingers crossed she hasn't got that. DD1 has something wrong with her legs. She has been in agony and can barely walk. Dr is sending her off for x rays and blood tests and they suspect arthritis! She is only 17. The have all been clingy and whinging at me today, the chocolate is calling me but I have covered my ears.

Guineapig99 · 23/11/2013 11:48

Not sure if I've lost anything his week as I am on Hols and haven't had the chance to weigh in. Going to try not to get carried away with alcohol the next couple of weeks, tho it'll be hard cos everyone else around me is a little cos its a holiday. The main thing that i need to remember I have plenty of free time for the next 10 days, and family to help with the kids so am going to take advantage and walk loads. Found myself a nice cross country walk of about 3 miles that I'm doing every day, aiming for about 4 5 mins to do it in. I wish I could run it but realistically I have put on so much weight that if I tried to heft my 15 odd st around running right now I would probably injure myself...

LottieDidIt · 23/11/2013 14:33

I'm on another trying to keep on track day today like I have been for the last week so far so good...hopefully it will stay that way!

moonshine that's great to hear you got a second interview - well done!Fingers crossed for good news Smile Good luck for your new regime on Monday.

IsThat yay that your DH is home Smile

phantom mmmm Dairy Milk with Oreo lovely - now that is a hard one to resist! I hope you manage to get your childcare sorted out for your induction.

Hope you enjoy your holiday Guineapig I'm sure even if it involves a little overindulgence on alcohol at least it might balance out with your exercise.

Debs I hope your DD's are feeling better and the tests come back well for DD1.

I've got 3 different Christmas meals/outings within a week at the start of December so I'm already thinking about the calorie content that will be involved! I know that I could just stick to healthy options but I feel really hard done to having the 'healthy option' on a celebratory occasion, especially if I'm paying a lot of money for it! I guess I will just have to have willpower for the rest of time Wink

SeptemberFlowers · 23/11/2013 16:31

Hello, Can I join ? I have rather a lot of weight to loose Blush and haven't even gotton on the scales yet. Too ashamed Sad

I caught site of myself on the DC's xbox game that takes stills as they dance and I was horrified at what I saw. Bit skint at the moment so going to try calorie counting through my fitness pal - is it easy to use ?

Hope you're all having a good weekend ! x

IsThatTrue · 23/11/2013 16:53

Welcome september lots of people on here use MFP and get on with it really well. I hope it works for you. If you don't want to weigh just yet you could try measuring instead.

Well I'm sat in pizza Gogo waiting for pizza for me DH and the kids. I'm too tired to even think about cooking. Ds2 was sick all over me and himself at 3am and then refused to go back to sleep. DH is jetlagged and about as much use as a chocolate teapot atm. I am going to eat slowly and stop when I'm full, and have lots of spinach on top. So hopefully I don't do too much damage.

I hope others are having a better weekend than me.

Reastie · 24/11/2013 18:32

hi all,

busy week end, involving too much chocolate Blush , but I'm hormonal so it's purely medicinal and very much needed. Bad news - I seem to have injured my knee doing my exercise dvd :( I'm really hoping it sorts itself out soon as without exercise my wl is scarpered. I know that sounds melodramatic but exercise helps my mood, my confidence, control my appetite (don't know how it does but it does) and is helping me get fit and tone up. I could do without an injury!

moonshine good to see you back and please don't stay away because you aren't as on track as you'd like, if anything that should make you come here more so we can help you out.

debs sounds like a very miserable and ill time. My cousins has had arthritis since childhood. Keep us updated and hope she's OK.

lottie IMO (this may be awful advice) you only have christmas parties once a year, I'd say just choose the best options you can calorie wise and control portion size where possible but don't stress about it too much as then you lose the enjoyment of the food. Just dance it all off after the meal Wink

Hi september I'm desperate to try that xbox dance things, it looks like such fun (but maybe I will avoid it is it takes photos!). I love MFP. I don't go on there a huge amount anymore but do pop on to calorie check every now and again and see how everyone else is doing. I'm reastie1 btw if you want to find me.

isthattrue urgh re: your DS last night. I'm an emetophobe and really struggle this time of year (although partially in recovery as I'm trying to sort myself out).

IsThatTrue · 24/11/2013 18:41

Thanks reastie thankfully ds2 wasn't sick again last night (I think it was the cough that did it Friday) but he did basically refuse to sleep. Although that did mean me feeding him almost every hour in a vain attempt to get him to shit the fuck up go to sleep. So at least I'm using calories while I'm being deprived of sleep!

Today has involved a few too many biscuits but I have avoided the leftover pizza and I didn't even have breakfast so I'm sure calorie wise I'll be ok ( the nutritional value of those calories is pretty questionable though tbh).

I am planning a 4/5 mile run tonight as long as DS2 is asleep at 7.50 when I need to leave.

I hope the weekend hasn't been to harsh on anybody :)

BirdingWidow · 25/11/2013 09:27

Not good here... Had a bad weekend and then kicked off my Monday with three custard creams for breakfast. I may be doing v badly but I am still here. I think I will be like to start January at the same weight I am now but that would be a pretty good outcome. With new year comes new motivation, just wish I wasn't wasting weight loss time at the mo but it is entirely my fault.

I hope at least I am inspiring other nibblers to stick around.

Am on phone and can't easily scroll back to see others' trials and tribulations but sorry to hear about your injury Reastie, fingers crossed you recover soon. Hope everyone else is doing okay.

I am on MFP as birding widow, feel free to add me. I have been a bit quiet on there for the last couple of weeks but will be back soon, honest guv.

HenriettaPie · 25/11/2013 10:42

Hello everyone, I'm back!! Thankfully feeling much better Smile

I got out of hospital last Tuesday evening only to be admitted again the following day, but I'm out now, feeling fine and back on the wagon. I see we have a lot of new people- hello and welcome!

I've loads to catch up on, hope everyone's doing well Wink

BirdingWidow · 25/11/2013 11:02

Hooray, Henrietta is back! That sounds awful, hope you are properly on the mend...

Debs75 · 25/11/2013 12:47

So I coped with my first night out of the season. 2 pints of cider, a mixed grill (I ate about 2/3 of each meat and a few chips) and a toffee cake pudding. It was a great night and I could see how I couldn't eat as much as I would of done last year. Hopefully the next few nights out will be as good or better.

DD2 has tonsilitus not a chest infection. She had a high temp yesterday when we went to OOH dr. She then spent most of yesterday sleeping. Both young ones are off school today which is loads of funHmm AT least Dp could help whilst I went to college. Was a wasted journey as my tutor was ill but I did earn 7 points walking there and back and did some Christmas shopping.

Glad you are out of hospital Henrietta

moonshine · 25/11/2013 17:26

Ah Reastie, you are lovely...and so right. No point in hiding from it, cos it aint going away of its own accord!

Welcome back Henrietta - glad you are feeling better.

For the record, I didn't get the job. Pah, didn't really want it anyway .

Still, if I can't control my career at the moment, I shall get fitter and slimmer instead. Have done okish on 5:2 today, although I've already eaten my 500 calories Hmm. But it's better than I did yesterday or the day before etc etc.

Good luck all for the week.

IsThatTrue · 27/11/2013 07:17

Weigh in day today.

Starting weight 14 stone 1
Weight last week 10 stone 7
Weight today 10 stone 4

So 3lbs down Shock

I'm not sure where to stop atm. I have not been below 10. 7 since I was a teenager. I honestly didn't think I'd get any further than that. I also haven't been dieting for the last few weeks, it must be a combination of running 5x a week and ds2 being poorly so breastfeeding like a newborn. Hopefully ds2 is better so the feeding will go back to normal but in going to try and keep the running 5x up as it really helps me clear my head. I'm going to try and maintain a healthy diet, so no dieting as such, and see where it takes me. I am far from skinny as am only 5foot4.

I hope other weighers do well today!

Reastie · 27/11/2013 07:46

isthattrue that's great. Hope your DS feels better soon. I relate to what you say, initially all I wanted was to get back to my pre preg size 16 and I didn't think I'd manage that tbh (it was 5 stone to lose). Now I'm a 12 - 14 and I've never been a 12 since I was a teenager! Feel like I'm cheating myself and it'll never last as I've never managed this before Confused

STS here, which was expected and is fine. I'm 4 lbs off of my target for new year.

phantomhairpuller · 27/11/2013 08:17

Well done IsThat Grin

I'm down 3lbs too and in to the thirteens on the scales GrinGrinGrin

Chuffed to bits Grin

Good luck to all weighing today!

clarinetV2 · 27/11/2013 08:24

I've gained a pound this week. Hopefully it's just normal variation.

IsThat, you're doing fantastically well. I don't think there's any set-in-stone answer to the question of where to stop. I started out thinking that if I could just get to the low 11s and stay there I'd be happy since that's where so many of my previous diets have plateaued. But when I got there I found I wanted to keep losing if I could - I wasn't (often!) feeling deprived of food, and I was enjoying feeling fitter and more active and wanted more of it. As I approached what became my eventual target (there were several intermediate ones) I realised I was as fit as I wanted to be in the sense of being able to really enjoy the physical activities I like, and I felt ready to eat a bit more, though not return to my old ways. I did consider keeping going just for the sake of being in the 8s, but my body was somehow telling me that my current weight is a comfortable one for me. You're probably very toned from all the running so although 10 stone 4 might sound a bit on the high side for your height, it's perfectly possible that with a lot of it being muscle you're a perfect weight for you. Why don't you try the healthy eating plus exercise for a few weeks as you've suggested and see where that takes you?

Sorry about the job, moonshine. It's their loss!

Great to see you back, Henrietta.

Debs75 · 27/11/2013 08:42

STS this week. Happy with that

lunar1 · 27/11/2013 09:38

Well done everyone, you are all keeping me motivated. Hopefully this time next year I will be posting the same about not knowing where to stop. It just seems so far away right now!

I have lost 2 lbs this week so a total of 6 since I started. So I am now 18st, just 8 stone to goShock. I guess I will be happy if I can be 17.5 by New year, I think half a stone per month is enough of a goal for me.

Anotherguineapigdown · 27/11/2013 09:43

Hello everyone, my weigh in from Saturday:

Start weight 17-10
Last week 14-11
This week 14-10

So only 1lb down this week, but another mini-milestone as I have now lost 3 stones!

I am amazed I lost anything last week to be honest, as I had a lot of wine during the week. Need to rein it in now as I want to get nearer 14 stone for Christmas.

Glad you are back, Henrietta, and sorry about the job Moonshine. I expect the perfect job is just around the corner for you.

B52s · 27/11/2013 09:48

Lost half a kilo (about 1 lb) since last week. There are some excellent losses on here! Well done everyone.

I am Shredding 4 times a week and going to the Gym twice a week. Since I started all this (8 weeks ago) my skin is healthier and my nails have stopped breaking. Have lost a total of 2.4 kg so far (about 5 lb).

HenriettaPie · 27/11/2013 11:06

Well done everyone, I've lost 2lb this week! Smile

MarysDressSways · 27/11/2013 12:12

I'll echo everyone else, well done all! I'm down 4lb this week. Minor miracle!

I can't SEE much of a difference in myself though. I can see my face is a bit less round, but apart from that.. not yet! Maybe it's because I see myself every day.

When I can go and get new clothes, that'll be celebration day! I'm saving that for when I've reached my goal of 11st though! That's a lonnnng way off.

IsThatTrue · 27/11/2013 14:20

reastie he's much better now thanks, he just had an awful cough and cold and was refusing food, so bfing every hour or so instead!

phantom well done on getting into the thirteens, each one of those little milestone did amazing :)

clarinet I think that's what I'll do, just eat healthily and keep up my exercise and see what happens.

lunar well done on your 2lb loss, just think in the next week you could be in the 17s! Try not to focus on the big picture too much, this is going to be a long hard journey, but you can do it! :)

another well done on 3 stone loss! That's amazing, you're doing so well. Keep up the good work and you'll be nearer 14 before you know it

B52 it's great you feel and look healthier, that should be our main aim here, health.

henrietta great to see you back and with a nice healthy loss too.

marys well done on your 4lb loss, you may be in for slimmer of the week Wink. How much have you lost in total since you started? I'm finding it really hard to see a difference in myself. I know deep down I must be smaller as I can for into size 10 clothes bit I still find myself questioning if the labels have been mixed up etc, as I still 'see' what I saw almost 4stone ago. Maybe take some pictures each month/take your measurements. As these may give you more insight than the mirror does.

moonshine · 27/11/2013 16:06

Well done to all you losers - v. good losses this week. And thank you for your commiserations re: job - yes indeed, it is their loss, harrumph!

Having been crap the past few weeks, I'm just signing in with a sts-ground-zero week as I started again on Monday (second fast of the week today!) and hope finally to start losing weight again - anything!
