Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

Teething baby got me up at 4.30am. It's going to be a hard day...

MiaWallace · 16/09/2013 06:34

Yes IsThat Wednesday is weigh day.

You are amongst a lot of people who weigh daily including myself. Weighing daily keeps me on track.

That being said..... I have had an horrendous weekend food wise. Consumed 2 bottles of wine over the weekend AND had a Macdonald's breakfast plus I've eaten lots of bread. Oh well I'm going to try and pull it back now ready for Wednesday's weigh in.

BirdingWidow hope you manage to grab a nap at some point today. 4.30 is an horrendous time to be awake without having carbs and caffeine to get you through.

IsThatTrue · 16/09/2013 06:47

Oh birding 4.30 is just too early. Ds2 has been up since 5.30, not teething just awake and 'talking' screeching so I'm trying to keep him quiet so he doesn't wake the big dcs yet.

BirdingWidow · 16/09/2013 07:04

He rarely sleeps after 5am anyway unless it is DP's turn to get up first but I could hear him whimpering from 4am. Poor thing has had his fingers stuffed in his mouth ever since. The first pointy bit of his first molar came through yesterday so think he is at peak misery. Calpol to the rescue!

I am off for a crumpet, low-fat spread and scrape of hone made jam for breakfast.

Lorelai · 16/09/2013 07:41

I have to admit to weighing most days to, but my tactic is to weigh at home in kilos, whereas my weekly weigh in at SW is in stones. That means I can keep an eye on my weight, and make sure it is going down, without linking it to my actual weekly losses. Plus kilos don't mean much to me, so it isn't as depressing :)

Sirzy · 16/09/2013 08:00

I weigh daily I like to see the patterns and it does help me understand my body more I think. This week is looking positive so far :)

LayMizzRarb · 16/09/2013 09:03

I weigh daily too, though I wish I hadn't today. 2lbs up.
Totally can't understand why, been good as gold. Even got the beginning of a period; for the first time in 8 months. Dammit . Thought I had slipped past the menopause horrid-symptom-free.

MissElodie · 16/09/2013 09:05

Big yawns here too, I feel like I have had no sleep at all thanks to my poor teething baby- think I got about 4 hours actually. I feel like I need stodge and sugar to help me through the day but will try to resist!

IsThatTrue · 16/09/2013 09:34

laymizz the last few weeks I kept putting on/losing the same 3lb, suddenly this week they've disappeared and 1 more! Shock don't be disheartened. I think daily weighing is ok if you can kind of detach it. I don't really count a loss until the start of a new week.

I'm fasting today. Was starving this morning but now feel ok. :)

LegoAcupuncture · 16/09/2013 09:39

Oh poo, 1lb on :(

But that is more than likely water retention due to the massive Chinese I ate last night, my own fault. I've been good otherwise so that will more than likely it.

Should be a better week as DH here more this week.

Lorelai · 16/09/2013 10:57

LayMizz, if you are starting a period could that not be the cause of the weight gain? It would make sense, especially if you can't think of another reason.

TiredNursey · 16/09/2013 11:57

Lego, all that salt and MSG is bound to make you retain fluid. And LayMizz I can retain up to a half stone of fluid pre period. So don't worry too much. It will balance out.

BirdingWidow · 16/09/2013 12:26

MissElodie, we are in the same teething boat! I won't eat naughty snacks a whole tube of paprika Pringles and DP's Mars Bar if you don't. Help me step away!

Baby is on one of his nursery days but I can't nap as I have a roofer here fixing stuff. I am tiptoeing round and closing the stairgates behind me. Can't get used to the house without him. I am supposed to be starting the Great Job Hunt pn my baby-free days, must get off t'interweb...

LayMizzRarb · 16/09/2013 12:49

I'm not disheartened (yet)! If I hadn't started this, I would probably be a couple of stones heavier than I am now! I only have a period once in a blue moon now (47 yo). Can't wait for them to stop as they are getting heavier with each one!
I know this is a long journey, and miracles aren't going to occur overnight Smile
Have a happy healthy day everyone, and I hope those with teething tots can catch 40 winks at some point.

LegoAcupuncture · 16/09/2013 13:35

The weekend as very hard going. Hopefully this one will be better. DS2's carer cancelled on Saturday so no respite for me.

I don't think this cold weather is helping either.

Does anyone have a good recipe for low calorie soup? Preferably nil pro points.

TiredNursey · 16/09/2013 14:43

Theres a Brocoli and Mushroom soup on the recipe pages here that I made yesterday. I actually don't like brocolli much, but this is gorgeous.
Saute 1 chopped onion, chopped garlic, (or a squirt of puree) then throw brocolli in, (I used a whole head, and broke off florets) punnet of mushrooms, stock to cover, cook until soft, add basil (I used dried as I didnt have any fresh) blitz, add cream (I used total 0% greek) and eat. It looks less appetising than it tastes, but I had it for lunch yesterday and today. Yum.

moonshine · 16/09/2013 17:14

IsThatTrue - I weigh and think exactly like you so that must make me neurotic as well Smile. But actually I get where you're at and it is interesting to see the day's/week's pattern and be somewhat detached from it.

I'm was back to square one this morning, sigh, and seem to be starting my 3rd period in 6/7 weeks, double sigh. I'm sure all the weight gain/frequent totm are linked to my bloody hormones with which I am now officially at war!

IsThatTrue · 16/09/2013 18:01

moonshine 3rd period in 7 weeks Shock that's horrendous. Is it to do with contraception? I'm very very lucky, still bf ds2 (9mo) and haven't had a period yet so it's been 18 months this is definitely not one of the main reasons I'm carrying on bfing

Well so far so good with my fast day. I've kicked my fingers a couple of times while preparing the dcs dinners/feeding ds2 his dinner. The appeal of finishing off dd's salmon was huge but it's cold, I know I won't enjoy it, and at 8pm when I've done 24hr fast I'm going to have my own salmon which will be nice and hot. I might try and make that cauliflower rice thing with it.

moonshine · 16/09/2013 18:11

IsThatTrue - I think it's because I'm peri-menipausal or someone up there really really hates me

IsThatTrue · 16/09/2013 18:35

Oo just prepared my dinner, grilled salmon with red pesto cherry tomatoes and a smidge of grated cheese. Steamed leaks and grilled asparagus. Coming in at under 500 calories!

Reastie · 16/09/2013 19:25

Lego I love butter nut squash and sweet pot soup or watercress soup. Pea soup is the easiest soup in the world with frozen peas. Am on my new kindle so too slow to type recipe would you like me to do it later?

Weigh in today and 1lb down which takes me to 90lbs, bureau. Ten more and then I think that,'ll be my ultimate goal

Reastie · 16/09/2013 19:26

Bureau???? Must practice touchscreen! No idea what I meant there

MiaWallace · 16/09/2013 22:01

100 days to Christmas. How much we all planning to lose by then?

I'm aiming to lose a stone and half between now and then. That will hopefully take me to a 16/18.

Sirzy · 16/09/2013 22:06

I would be happy to lose another stone. That would take me to 12 stone 7 which would be amazing!

HenriettaPye · 16/09/2013 22:15

Hi all.

I'm sick Sad Have an awful flu, been bed bound today.

If I lose a stone by Christmas I will be happy Smile
