New week, new thread - let's fill it with positive attitude and lots of support.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 15/06/2006 13:35

Good to have you back suejonez - those other posts didn't sound like you at all (the evil twin talking?). You always seem to have such an articulate way of expressing things - I love the way you 'talk'. Hope the MN meetup goes well - I'm not sure I'll ever pluck up courage to go to one.

JackieNo · 15/06/2006 13:37

Yes - I thought I remembered that champagne is pretty low calorie (insofar as any alcohol is). Hurray!

DH is off alcohol atm, so not sure whether I'll just have a glass or two or down awhole bottleGrin. Actually - my tolerance for alcohol is so pathetic since having kids there's no way I could have a whole bottle. Probably just as well.

hub2dee · 15/06/2006 13:44

(My WW weigh in is Thursday)

Lost 2 1/2 lbs. Total: 1 stone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grin

(Oh and just had a massage Grin)

JackieNo · 15/06/2006 13:47

Woohoo - congrats hub2dee! That's fantasticGrin. Am very Envy of your massage. Love stuff like that, but don't get to do it often enough.

suejonez · 15/06/2006 13:47

Oh H2D - you must be realy chuffed! Well done.

Maybe FioFio will let you share her crown or do we have a special thingie for a stone WWB (keeper of the thingies)?

suejonez · 15/06/2006 13:49

Oh Jackie Blush I will meet up with you anyday if you're going to be SOOO NICE to me...

hub2dee · 15/06/2006 13:49

Don't worry, they hurt like buggery. (Unfortunate turn of phrase innit)... the woman (who is most gentle on my occipital nerve), is trying to fix my back. She's working on knots. Many of them. In strange places. Grin

Hurts... but afterwards feel fab.

WigWamBam · 15/06/2006 13:53

Oh, well done, Hub Grin

Have a special \link{http://www.diamond-experts.com/images/giant6caratdiamond.jpg\stone} award ...

(must come up with some more thingies ...)

OP posts:
JackieNo · 15/06/2006 13:57

Hub2dee - diamond geezerGrin

WigWamBam · 15/06/2006 14:03

I thought about using \link{http://www.storytellingmonk.org/ref/holy_sights/architecture/avebury%20stone.jpg\this stone} but suspect most people wouldn't be too impressed Wink

OP posts:
suejonez · 15/06/2006 14:13

Not one bit - want something sparkly...

WigWamBam · 15/06/2006 14:15

Thought not Grin

Better stick with the original one then, hey!

OP posts:
dublindee · 15/06/2006 14:16

Looks like a sad lumpy little animal!

JackieNo Nope not yet - too sacred would look like a hippo in a tutu at this point.

I want something really classic, elegant, simple and flowy, effortlessly stylish.

In other words I need to be Twiggy to pull it off.

Heyho - only 50million poubnds to go to get to that stage! :o :o

coppertop · 15/06/2006 14:20

You lot have been busy with yer posting! Congratulations to Fio and Hub for their awards. :)

suejonez · 15/06/2006 14:45

We have started the week with a little flurry this time, haven't we?

Fauve · 15/06/2006 15:10

Oh blah, my blood pressure is too high again Sad Just come back from blimmin doctor's. So have to renew the vigour of my efforts to exercise and lose weight. Hence have booked a massage at the gym tomorrow Smile(thanks, Hub, for making me think of that!) and will try to be vigorous on the machines in the couple of hours before that.

schneebly · 15/06/2006 16:01

Just popped in to say hello to all you lovely future skinnies! Smile Well done to FioFio for stealing the crown - blimmin' well deserved too ! 5lbs? That is brilliant! I have a goal this week - must do better because I want to lose 2.5lbs to get my stone award! I have just eaten a pile of flapjacks though oops Blush I do have a healthy dinner in the fridge though - last nights leftovers. Best wishes to everyone for a good week. Smile

hub2dee · 15/06/2006 17:31

That diamond has inclusions... but I'm not sure I'd turn my nose up at a six carat stone !

I think I prefer Avebury. Twas in that village that dw and I first, ahem, became intimate. Grin

This is the first time I've ever combined healthy-eating / dieting with regular visits to the gym. The two together (perhaps enhanced because I am on WW rather than 'going it alone') seem to have a very powerful and swift impact. Long may it last !

WigWamBam · 15/06/2006 18:09

I prefer Avebury too (but I'm not saying whether it's for the same reason as you, Hub ... Wink) Sad, lumpy little animal indeed ... I'll have you know I have hugged that stone.

I checked out our local leisure centre for fitness classes but they don't do any I can get to. Looks like it's going to have to be the gym (preferably while the football's on and there's no-one there!). The only time I have ever lost weight steadily and well was when I was doing a regular exercise class, so I know I need to be doing both.

OP posts:
hub2dee · 15/06/2006 19:26

I hope you didn't stay in a little white B&B cottage v. close to the stones, wwb ! Smile That would be an odd connection Wink LOL.

BTW - this 'people buying treats' thing is interesting... when you are 100% 'in the zone' with lashings of commitment to a healthy eating plan, I find the snack temptation diminishes: I can take it or leave it... but most days, even when eating well, I find the treats / snacks v. tempting and tbh, it's probably not helpful for dh to buy them for you. I don't really like it when dw buys them (she seems to have more self control than me, LOL). Maybe you could persuade him to buy treats which are more healthy, or possibly even nicer ! I'm thinking EXPENSIVE cherries from M&S for example, or a really sweet mango, or a bag of carrot sticks (I can never be arsed to prep them) etc. etc. Or even gifts of other things, which don't cost IYSWIM - some baby sitting of an evening so you can disappear to the gym etc. ?

Anyway, we're all doing very well. I'm thinking of taking some 'before' shots now I am not quite so massively blobby. I couldn't bare all when at my heaviest, but am now feeling this might be possible. It will make a fun 'before and after' in a year's time !

I think the combo of: healthy eating / going to the gym / turning up for weigh-ins at WW and three of us doing the program (me, DW, FIL) might mean that, just possibly, this time we may have cracked the crappy eating habits and are on our way to healthier weights and more healthful eating behaviours. Here's hoping...

No way ! 5lbs is cool ! I like the stone !!!!!!!!

hockeymum · 16/06/2006 08:40

Hello everyone - wow you are all doing so well!! A great incentive for new me!

WWB - your "health" post was great. It is the kind of stuff that doctors say to you, but you hate hearing from them because they are skinny and saying it in a derogatory way so you get embarrassed and then feel crappy and then go and eat a 200g bar of dairy milk (just me? - hope not or Blush) But coming from someone with the same "problems" as you it makes sense and sounds caring not accusatory - thank you.

I took ds to his newborn swimming class last thursday, then I took dd swimming on saturday and Sunday and then went swimming myself on Monday and last night I did Aqua Aerobics ( a really good class with weights for resistance and stuff, am sore today), also am walking dd to nursery every day with the baby. So on the exercise front I am doing fabulously (particularly 7 weeks after a caesarian) BUT am being such a piggy with food. I just feel like eating everything in sight!!! MUST stock up on fruit and veggies and eat them first! I look forward to posting my first weight loss next wednesday.

rosebea · 16/06/2006 17:33

Hi all, just checking in and wanted to say well done to fio and hub and jackie oh and everyone! Can't believe we're all doing so well!
WWB have you ever though that your hubby might like that bit extra and wants to keep you all cuddly? My hubby moans like a woman about his wobbly bits (ex England volleyballer so he was all health conscious until he met me Blush) but as soon as I start moaning he says, "don't be silly your lovely!" then goes and makes me coffee and a biscuit mountain! Naughty man but he is lovely! Grin
I'm hoping for my stone next week if I can stay away from the kitkat chunkys that are in the fridge! Grin Good luck to everyone else too xxx

hub2dee · 16/06/2006 17:59

ooooh cold kit kat chunkies....

Nice.
