Hola.
Thought we needed a new thread Grin
Last day at work for me Grin Grin Grin

Well done Bssh on only gaining 1lb holiday weight, am hoping to emulate this!

RandallFloyd · 05/11/2013 09:42

I'm still here Smile

The Mother Fucking Piles and I had a fabulous time on Friday. Good ale, good pies and good friends. 'Twas bloody marvelous!

I've been experimenting with not logging so much so I've been hovering around on MFP but not properly. I can't lie, I'm a bit scared! I've logged every single thing I've eaten since the 7th of January so flying solo is seriously daunting.

I can't log forever though, at some point I have to start trusting myself. I know I won't change my mind and not care if I get fat again so I need to just get on with the rest of my life.

The idea is that I just start behaving like a normal person. Weigh myself once a week/fortnight and rein it in if I've put anything on. I know how to do that now, I know how to keep it all in balance. I just have to keep reminding myself of that I suppose.

I have to keep reminding myself I'm not on a diet anymore, it's over, I did it. I think it's going to take a long while to sink in!

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 05/11/2013 10:19

I'm still here. But my computer is not. RIP operating system.

Well done Bssh

I haven't logged on MFP since Friday because I couldn't find the tapas I ate on there so I fell off the wagon Grin

I am still gaining and loosing the same 2lbs. Which is good maintaining I think.

Fasted yesterday. May again tomorrow.

I'm at a tradeshow in Birmingham today and tomorrow. I will need coffee and cake to survive

BatmanLovesIckyBarry · 05/11/2013 14:56

Hello Chiefs :)

May I join your ranks? I started MFP again yesterday, and I WILL stick to my guns this time. I would like to lose about 4 stone, as much of it as possible by June 2014, when I will be taking my class on PGL and don't fancy my lardy bum sticking out of the harness Grin

At the moment multispeed Ryvita with Philly Light garlic and herbs is my saviour!

I'm BatmanLovesRobin over on MFP, if anyone wants to friend?

Applesnotcakes · 05/11/2013 18:16

Welcome Batman - multispeed ryvita sounds just the ticket if you can catch them

am feeling a bit fed up with whole dieting thing. gone back up weight wise and am struggling to get fast days to 500 or even 600 cals. i suspect i snack too much and like carbs too much, but dont really know how to stop.

i get the overall idea of weekly calorie deficit and try to have a couple of 'fast days' which end up around 750/850, a couple of restricted days at 1300/1400 and a couple of blow out days - maybe 2000 ish (was 3000 ish this weekend due to drip feeling of champagne and deliciousness at big family celebration) but its not really working. I'm thinking that there's not enough contrast between my fast days and restricted days and i need to crack the 500 calorie thing

Is there a v low calorie option for snacking on fast days or is it just a matter of finding some proper will power somewhere?

I really want to get properly under 14 stone by Christmas when i have to face judgemental mother and thin sister in law and it really shouldnt be that hard but im struggling. And biscuits are to blame i think so i need an office friendly, socially acceptable low calorie snack. Any ideas Chiefs??

And well done to all you maintainers - Randall I'll miss your MFP blowouts but I probably do need to be looking for guidance elsewhere if i'm to get to your position - you have to do the time to earn the crime - or some such.

BatmanLovesIckyBarry · 05/11/2013 18:27

Doh! Mind you - what a marvellous invention that would be - food that makes you burn the calories off before you can eat it Grin

apples, something I enjoy as a reasonably lowish cal but enormous treat is strawberries / raspberries, pot of Muller Light and a crumbled meringue nest, like a fat free Eton Mess. Maybe you could dig into that in your office?

anotetofollowso · 05/11/2013 19:39

This Chief has also fallen off the wagon a bit. After a stern talking-to from Randall I've been religious about logging every thing that goes into my mouth, until this week. Back to MFP tomorrow, I swear.

Welcome from me too Batman.

Apples the thought of a judgemental mother (never mind the skinny sister in law) is enough to send me screaming for the biscuit tin. Forgive the psychobabble, but I think that until you can truly feel immune, or at least immune enough, to your mother's judgement you will keep on eating. I know I do. And thank goodness, because at the end of the day do we really want to diet our way into anyone's good books? So fuck em all (meant in the nicest possible way, of course), and try to reach the point where you are dieting for yourself. Hope this doesn't sound pious or preachy - I battle so hard with this one myself.

Randall I can imagine that it's hard to shift your mindset to being a thin person. I' sure you will conquer that one too as you conquered the lardy challenge.

BsshBossh · 05/11/2013 19:40

Welcome Batman!

Apples perhaps the Randalling on weekends (even if offset by undereating during the week - including fasts) is not suited to you at the moment; perhaps the couple of days overeating is triggering weekday overeating too? Could you go back to MFP basics and forget about 5:2 for now?

I find 5:2 and Randalling does take alot of willpower. I have it in spades so am able to have indulgent weekends offset by low calorie weekdays, but I did old-fashioned MFP for a year before I discovered 5:2 (I still Randalled, even before I discovered the Chiefs, but not as much as I'm able to now).

BsshBossh · 05/11/2013 19:43

Great maintaining Tea.

Randall you'll be fine. Think about how much you've learned about gaining and losing since you've been on this journey. I think your instincts about weekly calorie averages and normal portion sizes are finely honed by now. You go Chief!

Applesnotcakes · 06/11/2013 09:36

thanks so much Anote and Bssh, Mumsnet really is an amazing thing to get such support

your combined suggestions make sense - get the head straight and find a way that works for me. I lost my first 2 stone watching the calories and I think i'll go back to that as Bssh suggests - forgetting 5:2. I think its kind of giving me mental license to go overboard.

And I know I have to want to lose weight for me - but it is sort of focused on what others think. And at 50 working in a relatively young business I'm always the oldest in meetings etc - and dont want to carry on being the fattest as well.

Anyway, onwards and downwards. Thanks Chiefs!

RandallFloyd · 06/11/2013 11:11

Just do whatever works for you note, there's no right or wrong.

I may have Randalled my arse off on several occasions but the vast majority of the time I just did the standard 1200 a day. And even when I did Randall I didn't do proper 5:2, it was usually just one or two ridiculously hight calorie days but I just made sure I came in under 8200 for the week. Sometimes that meant a couple of 500 days but sometimes more (and sometimes less). It's just what worked for me, there was certainly no science behind it!

FWIW my mother still hasn't made one comment about my weight. Yes that's right, 5 1/2 stone down and not one mention of it. I'm not blowing my own trumpet here but it's pretty fucking impossible not to notice! Mums are weird.

Anyway, maintaining is still going ok, weighed this morning and I'm 0.8lb down on my previous lowest somehow but I'm not complaining.

Onwards and downwards chiefs Smile

BsshBossh · 06/11/2013 11:59

Randall is your mum overweight? My mum is and can't seem to stick to any diet. Guess what? She only ever comments on my weightloss in the negative: "Oh, you're looking too skinny." "Don't lose anymore." "Your breasts are disappearing." I just reply, "I'm fine, Mum," and ignore cause in every other respect she's a fab mum.

RandallFloyd · 06/11/2013 13:45

No, not at all. She's a 12/14 so totally average. She has mahoosive ishoos though.

She's completely self-centred and incredibly manipulative. She hates that I see through her so likes to paint me as 'unapproachable' and 'prickly' because I'm the only one not afraid to call her on it.

She'll have been talking about it to everyone but will be telling them that she can't possibly mention it to me because I'd 'bite her head off' or some such bollocks.

I think she's mainly gutted that she's lost a load of easy stealth put-downs!

'Tis all rather exhausting so I just let it go over my head, it's best for everyone Grin

Lizzylou · 06/11/2013 13:55

Hello lovely chiefs! I lost you for a while. No broadband at home so on phone. But BT man is sorting as we speak. Diet has been woeful but have been back in the gym. Have unfortunately sprained my back lugging boxes around so have to go steady.
Hope you are all well and Randall, you totes rock. Some women, even those we are related to, are just naturally jealous of other females.

OP posts:
Applesnotcakes · 06/11/2013 15:08

Wow Randall, that's amazing. 5 and a half stone and not a word from your Mum - that is weird.

But seriously, 5 and a half stone? However many times I hear that number it's hard to compute. Fantastic achievement.

RandallFloyd · 06/11/2013 15:38

I can't compute it either don't worry!

Obviously I can see that I've lost weight but I cannot for the life of me see where 77.6 lbs have gone. It's a 37% reduction in body weight for crying out loud, how is that even possible Confused

Applesnotcakes · 06/11/2013 17:23

you know we need to see pictures

RandallFloyd · 06/11/2013 17:32

I've found a 'before' but I fear the 'after' would be a terrible disappointment. I honestly don't look like I've lost more than a couple of stone. I think I must have had fat ears or something.

BatmanLovesIckyBarry · 06/11/2013 19:00

Blimey Randall - if I'd been able to lose that much weight my family wouldn't be able to stop commenting!

Evenings are hard - that is when I eat most. I'm trying to leave 250 or so calories for the evening, so if I snack it's not the end of the world, and if I don't, no problem there either Smile

BsshBossh · 06/11/2013 19:43

Randall your after photo on your MFP profile avatar is amazing - you look stunning! Can't wait to see a proper before and after combo. I've taken mine down for now because I am on a diet thread in the very busy AIBU but will pop one up when I'm at my ultimate goal...

... speaking of which, I'm seriously thinking about sticking to my current 22 BMI for now (133 lbs) rather than striving for 21 BMI (125 lbs). I'm wondering whether I'm now on the cusp of looking a bit gaunt around the face... I might try and do a few head shots soon to get your Chiefly opinions need to summon up the courage first.

Batman I am an evening eater so I've always saved the majority of my calories to later in the day (usually by skipping or minimising or pushing back breakfast). I make sure I have a substantial dinner and dessert. Really helps me stay on track.

RandallFloyd · 06/11/2013 20:04

Ok, deep breath.

BEFORE & AFTER

The after one isn't great but it's the best one I've got. I'm an expert at camera dodging!

BsshBossh · 06/11/2013 20:09

Randall va va voom! You look fabulous (and so so pretty) and your body looks completely different yet still curvy. And you have knees! Thanks to you - a complete inspiration!

RandallFloyd · 06/11/2013 20:34

You're far too kind Bssh!

And how rude of me - WELCOME Batman. I'm RandallFloyd on MFP too so feel free to add me (with the usual disclaimer that I am not a good example). Smile

Applesnotcakes · 06/11/2013 20:35

Jesus Christ Randall, that's some transformation. And you do look very lovely.

Bssh what a great position to be in! Judging if its time to stop, how fantastic is that. We await the photos for judging.

RandallFloyd · 06/11/2013 21:44

I wish I had scrawn problems. My BMI is 20.4 and I still have a flabby middle.

My legs, arms and face are normal size, but... I have no tits, no arse whatsoever and a flabby stomach.
