30 Day Shred - DVD just arrived ... anyone else about to start?!

Lovethesea · 22/06/2013 10:58

So, after all I've read, the DVD and the weights have arrived....

Later today I plan to begin.

In 30 days I will be toned, have lost this extra stone, feel awake instead of in need of a nap all the time ... etc etc etc.

Right now just getting through the first one would be a victory! Anyone else desperate and mad enough to be starting this....

Blimey it's hot to be doing all this.
Managed L1D3, phew! Seemed a teensy bit easier, or am just being hopeful.
Good idea about using your own music, might try that tomorrow now I know what's going on. The commentary is starting to grate a bit.
Glad your knee is a bit better, and full power to you for managing your cycle commute Goodto. Jumping is over rated anyway - I find that first cardio circuit a bit of a killer and prefer the cross punches.

NachoAddict · 18/07/2013 17:38

Someone mentioned that you can turn Jillians voice off if it helps. Am off to the gym tonight so may skip shredding but mat do both if I am up to it.

HairyPotter · 18/07/2013 22:21

L1D5 done. Was just as bad as last night. It's really too warm to be prancing about I think. I'll make an extra effort to get tomorrows done first thing.

Oola it's that cardio bit that's kills me too. I managed yesterday and today without stopping but my god, it's torture!

HairyPotter · 19/07/2013 10:17

L1D6 done. I'm managing to concentrate a bit more on my posture now that I'm not gasping for breath as hard as I was in the first few days. Still tough going though.

Do you all move onto the next level after day 10 or when you feel ready. I'm thinking about staying on L1 until I can complete it comfortably. probably never Grin

smelmafingers · 19/07/2013 15:52

L1D5 done. I'm still not any better at the push-ups. Think i'll to stay on level 1 for the 10 days to see if i can improve.

smelmafingers · 19/07/2013 20:51

Anyone shredding whilst 5:2ing?

Just having a wee think about trying out 5:2 fasting again. Did it for a month or so in spring time then fell off the wagon.

Hoping to book a holiday in September. Bikini time soon and i can't even suck my gut in Blush

GrimmaTheNome · 19/07/2013 21:24

I am (I'm following a different shred thread but noticed your post.) I find it fine to do the shred on a fast day.

Tinwe · 19/07/2013 21:32

Hairy - I wanted to move on so I could complete the thirty day target. If I didn't have that target I might have dropped out sooner with an "oh well, I'll just skip a day... Or two..." And then a week or two has gone past. Plus I was curious about levels 2 and 3 and got a bit bored with level 1. Also if I'd waited til I was perfect on level 1 I might never have moved on as some exercises are always going to be beyond my gippy knees! Grin

Tinwe · 19/07/2013 21:36

Day 23 today and D3 of L3. Not finding it too bad but doing the easy moves. I like that it uses some moves from level 1, slightly adapted and that the distinction between cardio and strength is less obvious Smile

HairyPotter · 19/07/2013 21:49

Smelma I'm doing 5.2 as well as this and C25K. Drastic measures are called for! Blush

Tinwe I remember the planks from L2 Shock I think that's another reason for staying on L1 forever!

smelmafingers · 19/07/2013 22:09

Thanks grimma and hairypotter. Have tried both 5:2 and c25k in the past.

Stopped 5:2ing after i went away for a week - forgot to re-start Blush

C25k, well think lasted a week. Sprained my ankle and pulled a muscle. It was in the dead of winter and decided it was not for me! Liked the fact that i was out in the dark and no-one could see my purple face .

Wouldn't mind looking out the davina dvds, i much prefer exercising in private. Not sure if i can find the time. Once the kids are in bed i kind of just need to flop.

NachoAddict · 19/07/2013 22:35

Can someone give me an idiot guide to 5.2 please, I was thinking about giving it a go.

Just completed l2 d5, halfway there! I put in an hour at the gym too so feeling wiped out now.

GrimmaTheNome · 19/07/2013 22:44

Nacho: its simply this - on two days of the week (a lot of people find Mon and Thur work well but its up to you) you eat no more than 500 calories (600 for blokes). The other days you eat normally - not pigging but nothing banned, nothing to count. The point is that (a) its sustainable because most of the time you're not 'dieting' and (b) its supposed to be quite good for you. Its not quick but the scales seem to be travelling gradually downwards.

NachoAddict · 20/07/2013 08:37

Wow that's hardly any calories!!!! What would you eat on one of those days?

Level 2 day 6 boxed off.

Tinwe · 20/07/2013 08:38

I heard somewhere that it takes 3500 calories to lose a pound. On 500 calories for 2 days of the week you'd be "saving" 3000 so less than a pound a week on 5:2 alone. I suppose that's why the weight loss is so slow?

NachoAddict · 20/07/2013 08:54

I didn't know that about 3500, calories. That is a lot of exercise and dieting!

oolaroola · 20/07/2013 09:08

So I may be out of action for a while as my husband has been admitted to hospital with a nasty case of appendicitis and had an appendectomy last night. Bum. Poor thing.
Am going to try and resume as soon as a bit of normality returns!

HairyPotter · 20/07/2013 11:10

Oola oh no Sad that's must have been pretty scary. I hope he is on the mend soon.

L1D7 done and dusted here! I think I probably will move on after 10 days if only to get rid of the fecking jump ropes. Angry

Good luck to everyone shredding in this heat today.

smelmafingers · 20/07/2013 17:11

Sounds nasty oolraloo poor guy

Just completed L1D6. Think it is getting easier, only very slightly! Think i might start 5:2 on monday

Tinwe · 20/07/2013 18:24

Um Hairy... Um... Don't know how to tell you this... There's DOUBLE jump ropes in level 2 Confused

Tinwe · 20/07/2013 18:24

Good luck for you and your DH Oola

Tinwe · 20/07/2013 18:26

Good luck with level 2 Selma, and 5:2ing! Smile

Tinwe · 20/07/2013 18:27

Sorry Selma - flipped the six and thought you were on day 9?! Confused

NomDeOrdinateur · 20/07/2013 19:15

Hi, I'm new to the thread but would love to join in! Reading everybody's posts has inspired me to order 30 Day Shred - I don't need to lose weight but I'd like to be more toned, and less unfit... Blush I just have one question: will 30 Day Shred do much for my thighs and wobbly arse, or will I need to progress onto Killer Buns And Thighs to see significant improvement in that region?

CreepyCrawly · 20/07/2013 21:27

Hi nom! I'm on day 3 of level 3 and I think my legs (and arms) have gotten most toned. My bum has lifted and seems firmer too.

I hope your ankle is ok goodto, and I hope your DH is better soon oola

I think you've overtaken me now tinwe. I had a rest day yesterday because of my arm which made a huge difference.
