My water diet

I need to loose weight. but how?

I'm far too busy to concentrate on what I eat, how much and when.

It stresses met out when I have to prepare special foods & drinks for myself in advance because we are going to a friends' or have guests or travelling or whatever.

We have 6 kids and I'm just so busy. 4 at school, 2 at home, there's always something more important than weighing and calculating my little portions of pasta.
I always get interrupted and distracted.

Plus baby is only 13 months and is a mummy's girl, so I rarely get anything done - like tidying or being organized.
I'm not even going to talk about lack of sleep.

the house is a mess and I DH is about to have an operation, then there are holidays and birthdays and so on. It's just too much.

Weight Watchers always worked for me, so my plan is to go back in September, but as for now I can not fully commit to it.
I can't do it half-arsed.

that's all very well, but what about for the next 3 months?
my birthday is at the end of August and we are going on holiday and I really want to loose about 2 stones (which I did with WW 2 years ago, so I know I can) and wear my prettier clothes and feel just healthier.

So I came up with an idea.

WATER DIET!

I've heard countless of times and from various sources that half the time (or so) we eat because we are thirsty, not hungry. that not enough water is one of the reasons we over-eat.

so I thought that I will drink 2 litres of water everyday and will not worry about what I eat and when and how much. And see if that makes a difference.

See if it helps me reduce cravings, if it fills me up to reduce food intake.
or flush out toxins. or help me feel less tired.
And most importantly if it helps me to get slimmer.
I've got nothing to loose - just the extra weight!Grin

Join me if you like.

I managed 1.75 litres yesterday. How is everyone doing today?

MrsHoarder · 09/07/2013 14:24

Hello!

I've had 2 litres already today because its hot and I have easy access to a tap. To be fair it will be difficult to drink any more once I've cycled to get DS until his bedtime as he steals any drinking container I have within reach.

Now onto a cup of Darjeeling before I wash away entirely.

ZingWidge · 09/07/2013 19:00

slow, only a litre so far Blush

but haven't been hungry either...

well done you all, and I'm so glad you are here, much better to have "competition"!Smile

Tinwe · 11/07/2013 07:53

Hi all! Been sticking with drinking lots and reckon I've averaged at least 2 litres of water a day if not more plus extra drinks like brews. Really stepped up my eating well and exercise plan too so if I don't see weight loss soon I'm going for lipo (joke)! Grin

How's everyone else doing?

ZingWidge · 11/07/2013 08:13

tinwe you are doing so well! I'm proud of you!

me - not so good.
going to a funeral today (DH's aunt) and the whole thing has been messing with my head.
I can't concentrate on stuff.
Although I feeI very sorry for her family, I'm not grieving as such as I wasn't very close with her IYSWIM.
but a funeral makes you reflect, so that's been hard.
(nice selfish take, isn't it?Blush)

I did about 1.5l yesterday.
today will be tricky, but I'll do what I can.

Tinwe · 11/07/2013 13:10

Thanks Zing. Nothing wrong with a bit of introspection. Sorry it's proving a tough time for you though. Take care of yourself and your loved ones

Tinwe · 11/07/2013 20:36

How did it go Zing?

ZingWidge · 11/07/2013 22:00

thanks for asking.

the service was lovely.
funerals are weird. I kind of expected her to turn up, like she was just late.

I did drink some water today, but I find that it's too tricky when out and about, always keeping tabs on the nearest loo!

I'm pretty sure I put a bit back on, but tomorrow is a brand new day, I'll weigh-in, assess damage and then start afresh.

how was your day?

Tinwe · 12/07/2013 07:50

Glad the funeral went smoothly and that you're ok. They are strange events. Everyone getting together and remembering how they care for everyone else there, vowing to meet up again soon, not just at a funeral and then next time you meet it's a funeral or wedding again! Kind of nice (catching up) as well as sad...

Well done for still drinking a bit, if you'd avoided it much I bet you'd have felt rough as your body would be used to it by now. Back on with the plan now... I know I always like to have what my DH calls a "project", be it losing weight, organising a holiday, arranging workmen for the house etc. Think he's pleased that it's just healthy living right now!

Having said that, I'm officially following the Paul McKenna theory of weight loss but have decided I need a bigger loss to spur me on so am doing a few days of v strict low calorie dieting. Was pleased with myself until I went to a friends house who'd bought me a cake especially for my birthday last week. I couldn't not eat it for fear of causing offence so was really disappointed that I didn't even manage to stick a few days being strict. Hmm Didn't even enjoy it as I felt so disappointed, silly I know, it's not as if being overweight is due to a tiny piece of lemon drizzle cake! Grin

ZingWidge · 12/07/2013 21:11

oh my I was so busy all day I forgot to weigh-inBlush

ZingWidge · 13/07/2013 21:12

ok, weighed this morning.

I put on a bit.
grrr.

anyway, I had 1.5 l so far today and will finish 2l before bed.

just had Chinese takeaway and feel particularly lardy.
mmmm, chicken noodles were worth it thoughWink

Tinwe · 14/07/2013 08:20

Never mind Zing. It's the general trend that counts. I didn't get as much water as I have been doing either yesterday as we were out walking and it wasn't easy to access drinks or a loo. Will step up today though Smile

ZingWidge · 14/07/2013 10:23

you know yesterday was so hot I didn't have lots of loo trips, I just absorbed the water like a plant.Grin

Tinwe · 15/07/2013 22:21

I confess - bad day for me today. Not had a water bottle and I think that normally helps me remember. Anyone else want to share their good/bad day?

Tinwe · 15/07/2013 22:31

ZingWidge · 16/07/2013 08:58

oh, all I seem to be having is bad days.

not just water related.
bloody kids argue so much I want to go and live in a cave.
I don't know how to get them to be nice to each other...

plus I have ov pains which is exhausting and makes me grumpier than usual.

right, nurofen first, then it's drowning my sorrows in H2O

MrsHoarder · 16/07/2013 09:08

Having a bad week too: AF plus hitting a brick wall on my summer project means I've been overdoing the chocolate. Got my half-litre glass of water on the desk this morning though, and full for good resolve for the day*

  • Starting by coming onto MN instead of hitting the lit review...
ZingWidge · 16/07/2013 09:10

MrsHoarder Grin

hit those reviews!

AmandaPandtheTantrumofDoom · 16/07/2013 14:45

Right. I am trying this. 5kg has crept on over the last 6 months. I had a go at 5:2 but I didn't even make it through my first 2 Blush. Being around two pre-schoolers all day makes it too hard.

Will keep you posted!

Sorelip · 16/07/2013 16:27

i've managed 1.5 litres a day, but am trying to up this to 2. will post later when on laptop.

Tinwe · 16/07/2013 21:59

Another bad day. V busy with lots of visitors and appointments. Got about a litre plus lots of other non-water drinks. Might try and neck a bit now...

MrsHoarder · 16/07/2013 22:28

Well I did well until mid-afternoon. When I decided I would have a small bowl of ben and jerrys instead of my water because I needed some energy. The B&J was finished...

Having some water now to cool down before bed.

ZingWidge · 17/07/2013 00:03

im struggling too.

did manage jusr over 1 litre.
plus loads of apple juice Blush Blush Blush Blush

MrsHoarder which B&J did you have?
I used to love the Fudge Brownie, but now they have Brownie Blondie which is much more delicious!

ZingWidge · 17/07/2013 00:05

tinwe

what do you do? I'm intrigued by lotsvif visitors!

Tinwe · 17/07/2013 08:10

Zing - want working yesterday, just at home with the girls/babies (still can't decide what to call them at age 1 and 2)! We had a couple of planned visitors and then some extra unplanned ones plus a drs apt for DD2 mid afternoon which confirmed (no shock) she has asthma :( She's only 1 so i hate the idea of regular medicine for her but she's constantly chesty wheezing so I suppose it's good she'll have the right treatment now.
