I am dieting and that is going well , I am doing a lot more exercise which I am weirdly enjoying .
I need to lose two more stone. One stone down so far .

But I have got into a stupid habit of having a drink most nights , either a glass of wine , bottle of beer or a vodka and diet coke . I don't drink to get drunk , it is just a habit while cooking dinner . If I don't have one at the time I am cooking then I won't bother with it .

Does anyone else want to join me in keeping booze free Mon _thurs ?

It just seems daft to be undoing all my good work when I am trying so hard with everything else .

Well today I bought some j2o that I might crack open later.
Might even drink it from a wine glass.....

Chubfuddler · 20/05/2013 17:46

I just had some elderflower presse from a wine glass with dinner.

Rocking....

travellingwilbury · 20/05/2013 17:55

The fizzy flavoured waters from Tesco are pretty good , bit sweet so.can't drink too much but lots of flavours to choose from .

Enjoy all ;)

How's everyone doing?

I'm fine now I've eaten. Don't feel like a glass of wine quite so much after a large amount of food!

Will make myself a herbal tea shortly.

everynameistaken · 20/05/2013 19:43

Really fancied a glass when I got home from work whilst making tea but didn't have one.

Trying to drink more water if I can. I love the flavoured drinks, elderflower etc but as I'm doing sw there will be syns in them and don't want to use any syns unless I have to.

How's everyone else doing?

PyroclasticFlo · 20/05/2013 19:51

Hi everyone, may I join you?
I'm nodding as I read all your posts, very similar here - like to be able to indulge a bit at the weekends, and usually have Monday and Tuesday nights without any booze to give my liver a rest but by Wednesday I'm practically counting down the hours until I can open a bottle of wine or make myself a G&T, which is pretty dreadful really. I drink WAY over the recommended weekly allowance.

Actually what's really sad is that it's the weight loss thing rather than anythng else that's made me want to cut down more in the week too. I started WW three weeks ago and have lost 4lbs but am sure it'd be a damn sight easier to stay within my points allowance if I wasn't drinking at least half a bottle of wine and the rest 5 nights a week.

Am finding your stories very inspiring!

everynameistaken · 20/05/2013 19:57

Sorry on phone so can't namecheck but someone said that there's 900 calories in a bottle of wine!!! 900!!!!

Wonder what % alcohol that is. I always check the percentage and wont even consider it unless its 13 or more Blush

fackinell · 20/05/2013 20:22

Hi all, booze free here too!! Healthy tea, bath and maybe a movie later.

Yep that was me, every. 900 cals so I heard.

Friend told me about a diet I'm going to try called the 8hr diet. You choose what 8hrs you will eat in and then eat nothing after for 16hrs.
So say you choose to eat between 10am and 6pm, you then fast until 10am again the following day. Apparently you can lose 5lbs a wk. you can drink tea, coffee, water and non sugary drinks in between. Eat what you like (in moderation) in the 8hrs.

Anyone fancy joining me? I'm starting it tomorrow as no wine tonight will be enough for one day. Tricky, as I'm off tomorrow!!

Chubfuddler · 20/05/2013 20:41

I don't know about the 8 hour thing but I find not eating after about 6pm makes a big difference to me. Anything I eat in the evening just turns to lard.

Hmmm, out of elderflower. I think I will have a nice cup of tea. And probably go to bed at 9pm.

fackinell · 20/05/2013 23:12

Thinking of an early night too. Bit bored even though I have loads I should be doing.

Yay. Monday night completed.

Doughnuts are a bit of a downfall of mine, Mermaid. I buy them for the DC then end up throwing the empty box away before they're home from school.

Night all.

fackinell · 21/05/2013 00:02

Grin Mermaid!!! You are norty. Well done everyone. Hope those who've gone AWOL have been good too.

SilveryMoon · 21/05/2013 07:27

chub I think the 8 hour thing has similar results to the 5:2.
I fast for over 16 hours a day. Not intentionally that's just how it works out. I've lost loads of weight since I started that

Hazelbrowneyes · 21/05/2013 07:51

Monday night: done. DH did it too.

The problem is, I've had a shit morning already and if I had a bottle of gin in my desk drawer, I'd be downing it right now. Must get out of the mindset of turning to alcohol if I'm having a shit day.

fackinell · 21/05/2013 10:44

Good to know it works, Silvery. Starting it today!! Smile

fackinell · 21/05/2013 10:46

No, Hazel!! See leaving work as your special treat. Imagine you're taking off your shitty day like a coat and hang it up at work. You'll feel 'lighter' as you leave. Grin

coribells · 22/05/2013 07:44

I've been doing well. Haven't had a drink since Saturday.
I am low carbing , so an extra incentive to keep off the booze. I did discover that Gin has NO carbs though, so that s my tipple on the weekends at the moment. I think I can probably make it til Friday without indulging. Im skint anyway so no use waisting money on it.

Hazelbrowneyes · 22/05/2013 08:14

coribells Gin and slimline tonic with loads of ice and a slice of lime. Yum.

Anyway. fack you'll be pleased to know I didn't drink last night! I honestly wanted to. I could almost feel the wine sliding down my throat, but DH wasn't drinking so I decided I wouldn't either. Glad I didn't to be honest.

How is everyone else doing?

PyroclasticFlo · 22/05/2013 11:05

Hi all! Yes I did another night without booze and will stay off it again tonight, looking forward to a large glass of red wine on Thursday evening when DH is out boozing with his mates though Smile

Xroads · 22/05/2013 11:28

Hi I'm backing I am doing really well, I managed Sun to wed last week (one vodka on thu) a couple on fri and quite a few on sat as we were out.

This week I've done sun, mon and tue so far just tonight to go, I get weighed tomorrow and then might have 1 when I get back depending on how my weigh in has gone. Gutting thing is I didn't even lose any weight and in fact put half a pound on, wasn't happy, I'd been really good and gone swimming as well.

This week I've been really busy working 14-15hr days but I'm having this evening off, dh is out think I might have a nice bath, paint my nails and have a bit of a pamper evening. Smile

Hope you are all doing well x

Bowlersarm · 22/05/2013 13:52

Gah.

Did Sunday and Monday perfectly alcohol free.

Neighbours came round last night armed with wine. I had a glass and a half. How annoying.

Onwards and upwards for booze-free night tonight and tomorrow.

Well done to those who haven't caved in.

everynameistaken · 22/05/2013 17:43

Permission to cave in.

Done sun, mon and tues but tonight is our wedding anniversary and my brother had given us a lovely bottle of wine.

Will back on the wagon tomorrow though. Promise.

travellingwilbury · 22/05/2013 18:23

I think that is perfectly acceptable :) happy anniversary !

That to me is normal drinking , my issue isn't really so much not drinking at all ever in the week that is just my focus to give me a kick now . I just want to drink when its an occasion and not just because it is 7 o clock and that's what happens every day at 7 .

I do feel better for sticking to it but I know that we are away next week and it is part of our holiday to have a drink in the evening and that's ok to me . But when we get back and its just a bog standard day then I won't drink .

Well done everyone , I think we are all doing fab !

I was about to say the same Wilbury.

For me it about making it a decision to have a drink because I really want to, with a nice meal or on a night out for example. Rather than it being just routine/habit to pour a glass of an evening.

I had nothing Sunday, a bottle of beer with an Indian takeaway with DH on Monday (he has been away for weekend), nothing yesterday, a glass of red with steak and chips at a restaurant this evening. This is hugely different to how I would have been a month ago, having roughly 2 glasses of wine a night almost every night at home then more when out for an evening. Much more "conscious" drinking, with a day without being perfectly normal rather than an effort to have a day off!

I am on hols next week and will drink every day I am sure, but that's ok for me too, I think it's the daily drinking at home that is damaging, health and calorie wise.
