I am dieting and that is going well , I am doing a lot more exercise which I am weirdly enjoying .
I need to lose two more stone. One stone down so far .

But I have got into a stupid habit of having a drink most nights , either a glass of wine , bottle of beer or a vodka and diet coke . I don't drink to get drunk , it is just a habit while cooking dinner . If I don't have one at the time I am cooking then I won't bother with it .

Does anyone else want to join me in keeping booze free Mon _thurs ?

It just seems daft to be undoing all my good work when I am trying so hard with everything else .

I'm pretty pleased, last night was a real test for me, there was wine open in the fridge from Wednesday night, a friend was here earlyish for an hour and she had a glass but I didn't. Then I made myself dinner and still didn't have any, and it actually wasn't that difficult! I did have one glass with quick pre-cinema dinner with DH on Thursday but then stuck to hot chocolate instead of wine at the cinema Smile...again, didn't feel hard.

Hello all , I had a few glasses of done last night as I was out with friends . I enjoyed it and I might have a drink today but it feels like a more normal way of drinking . Not the habitual thing of every day just because but having a couple of social glasses of wine with friends who hadn't seen each other for a while .

I hope everyone else is doing ok .

Out to friends for dinner last night. Had more wine than I had planned to unfortunately-it was flowing a bit freely!. Not drinking today at all as I'm driving the DC's around later.

However, my aim is not to drink next mon-thurs as we aren't out at all.

I need to stay strong!

Can i join?
I have allowed my drinking to get a bit out of control and have nearly a bottle a night Blush
I am loosing weight, not sure how, but the booze is not helping.

It's so easy to get into the habit SilveryMoon. I'm really hoping that being on this thread will give me some willpower, and I'm sort of looking forward to the challenge.

Yes. I think I need to find something nice to drink that's non-alcoholic so I can still have a treat at the end of a horrid day or something.
Maybe something nice and fruity that I can drink from a wine glass. Am sure it's not the actual alcohol I rely on, just that I want to feel relaxed and like a grown-up (spend all day with children)

Oh me too. I rarely drink to the point of feeling in any way drunk but tbh that's not a good thing that I can polish off best part of a bottle and not even feel it. Plus I can't afford it - a decent bottle that I will actually enjoy is 8 quid minimum - I worked out that if I knocked my bought lunch, chocolate and wine habits in the head allowing for replacement home prepped food I would save about 12 GRAND in five years. And be slimmer and healthier.

I would be really interested to hear about the hyponotherapy and whether this has worked if anyone wants to share. A pm much appreciated if you don't want to go into detail on thread.

Hi all, I had planned to drink last night at a Eurovision family party. One member of my family suggested to another that I would be ' pie eyed' and I'd go mad with the booze because I hadn't drunk for so long!

I was furious, and thought 'sod you, I'm not going to drink'......and I didn't. Thank god I didn't, only had 5 hours sleep and woke up feeling rough enough, without the added hangover.

Didn't go out for an Indian on Friday night after all, so no wine.

silverymoon, I tend to drink a lot of shloer, or if I want something non fizzy, J20

Are we all ready for tomorrow? I'm polishing off the last of the red which will leave the house wine free. Smile

All ready here.

Haven't had anything to drink today as overdid it a little last night.

Have about two thirds bottle of white in fridge which if isn't drunk later on, I'll freeze in 'portions' to use in cooking.

Very happy to be cutting down Smile

I am having a couple of wee ones but I am ready for tomorrow , this had better make a difference to the scales .

I am happy to be doing this and I have probably drunk less over the weekend than I would have normally which is good .

Long may this last .

Sounds like everyone is doing really well .

Hello, please can I join you guys? Managed mon-fri this last week without any wine. Fri night DH had a bottle and I fancied a glass but I managed to wait until there was only one glass left. If I'd have had the first glass I would've polished off the bottle myself and would have sent DH out for a bottle for himself.

Cross with myself that I overdid it last night as I had just over a bottle to myself. Not drinking tonight though and hope to make it to next Sat without any.

I definiately feel better and can get up in the morning much easier.

Nervous. Not sure why. I didn't have a hige amount to drink last night (I don't think) but felt drunk and have spent today a bit hung-over.Haven't poured a drink yet, have got a pepsi on the go.
Might have a little one in a bit, just to finish the week.

I have a 3L box in the fridge that has probably got about half left. Not drinking it tonight so will have to be mega strong through the week!

I started off a while ago thinking I'd have every other night off, but then I'd have a bad day and it would go to pot.

everyname your drinking habit sounds like mine. I can go for several days without wine, but if I open a bottle I like to finish it.

However! The reason I joined this thread is that as i quite like to over indulge sometimes at the weekend, and if I'm doing that then I feel happier if I can have a clear run of a few days to give my body a rest. Which i haven't been successful in doing recently. So this thread will help with that I think.

Like travelling, I could do with not having the empty calories to lose a bit of weight. Think I will sleep better too, as well as having nicer skin, brighter eyes etc

I'm good if I get past Monday. Just a restless feeling like something is missing, usually. Plus I always go nuts (I'm TTC) for 2 wks just after AF but week 3 i slow down when I think if I am PG then implantation could be taking place. The wk before AF I try not to drink till its obvious and I'm cramping!!

Desparately trying to lose some weight too. I'm doing sw but have hit a brick wall recently so hoping knocking midweek drinking on the head might help.

Slightly worried about the weigh in this week as if I haven't lost any weight it might send me back down the slippery slope.

Btw had convinced myself that the whites of my eyes were turning yellow. Watching closely to see if I notice any change.

Report
SilveryMoon · 19/05/2013 20:14

Mine too everyname I noticed the whites of my eyes being a bit yellow. I asked dp to look and he said I was being silly, and that I don't drink nearly enough to have effects like that.
I do worry though because a few years ago, I had some blood tests and apparently my liver function wasn't great.
Suppose i should follow that up.......

Report
everynameistaken · 19/05/2013 20:19

Silvery, I think that's why gov suggested leaving 2 clear days alcohol free so your liver can recover. You're doing the best thing though now, so it should be getting better.

I had my liver func tested after a very boozy holiday last year and was amazed that it came back ok.

I have noticed that I'm going to the loo loads more, which shows how dehydrated I must have been. Plus it's really light and clear now, must be a good thing I'm guessing.

Report
everynameistaken · 19/05/2013 20:40

fairy hadn't connected the two things together until your post. I'm also going to the loo more, mind you I'm drinking loads more water now!

Chubfuddler · 19/05/2013 20:57

When TTC Dc1 I was honest with fertility doc about how much we both drank ( I drink much less now). Both our liver results were fine but doc said he found them surprising - he would have expected some damage.

That was 7 years ago....

Managed 4 nights clear last week. Going for five this week.

Hi everyone! A new week here and another with no alcohol. DH has also decided he doesn't want to drink during the week which I think will be really quite tough for him.

I coped fine in the pub Friday night...but had a white wine spritzer with a friend back at hers. Doh. Still, better than normal! It all went a bit wrong saturday...5 G&Ts, 2 glasses of red. Yesterday we were out for dinner and I had about half a bottle of white.

Good luck all Smile
