I am dieting and that is going well , I am doing a lot more exercise which I am weirdly enjoying .
I need to lose two more stone. One stone down so far .

But I have got into a stupid habit of having a drink most nights , either a glass of wine , bottle of beer or a vodka and diet coke . I don't drink to get drunk , it is just a habit while cooking dinner . If I don't have one at the time I am cooking then I won't bother with it .

Does anyone else want to join me in keeping booze free Mon _thurs ?

It just seems daft to be undoing all my good work when I am trying so hard with everything else .

Hi all, hope you all had a great bh. I managed to avoid the wine over the weekend. Feeling like rubbish on fri put me off and had a really hectic few days so was exhausted.

Enjoying a lovely glass of shiraz following not drinking sun-thur (drank wed as it was our wedding anniversary).

Enjoying the wine immensely. Wont be drinking tomorrow but might have a drop on sun. Hope everyone doing sun-thur is enjoying their tipple tonight. Andhazel hope you are ok.

Not feeling so great as the day has worn on. Slightly dodgy tummy too. Had a massive carb pig out, and now so stuffed I could sleep!!
Damn you wine

Managed not to drink last night. Won't be drinking tomorrow as doing a late night/early morning airport run to pick up FIL. So tonight I am going to really, really enjoy some alcohol. REALLY enjoy it.

I had been doing really well? Then 'treated' myself to some wine after weigh in. Good god, not only did I not enjoy it, but I felt like total shit yesterday and succumbed to a takeaway last night to ease the hangover.

Now I face a week of being really strict in order to hopefully lose 2lbs on Wednesday. Wish I'd used my points on food. I'm done with wine during the week, I will allow myself Friday night wine if I want it but I am really going to try bot to.

It's amazing, I must have felt like shit for years and not really realised it!

What a strange experience drinking was! Firstly it didn't taste too fantastic, but it was cheap wine. I only ended up having 2 very small glasses and didn't enjoy it at all.

Yes bowlers, it took less than a glass to feel a bit tiddly. It was a feeling I used to love, being relaxed etc, but I really hated not feeling 100% in control.

Not feeling the effects this morning but did get up twice for a drink in the night.

Tbh not sure if I'll drink again. Luckily it hasn't made we want to go back to drinking the amounts I used to, which is what worried me.

I've poured the rest of the bottle away. What shocks me is not that I chucked it down the sink, but there was some left in the bottle!!

Reading this back, I can't believe I wrote this post!! What a difference a few weeks makes.

Forgot to say, I saw lynda Bellingham on tv the other day. She quit drinking 8 years ago. Thought to myself- god she's put on weight/ looks a bit rough.

Well, she's back drinking! Limiting it to only with meals!?!?!?! IMO, that's quite a bit of drinking.

Although my halo is slightly tarnished, and off centre...giving it up mon- thurs is a million times better.

That's worth celebrating fairygen. After five weeks you'll be feeling light headed after a sip.

Evening all,
Just poured myself the first glass of wine for nearly 5 weeks! We are celebrating a new arrival in the family, so it's exceptional circumstances.
Hope I don't feel like shit tomorrow!!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Am not going to beat myself up, I still managed to lose 2.5lbs this week so am feeling quite proud of that. Must focus on the victories not the failures.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time Hazel, feel free to share / rant here if you wish Smile

I failed last night. Had 1 large glass of wine. Horrendous day. Can't talk about it but I'm an absolute mess at the moment. Have no idea how I only stuck to one glass to be honest.

Hi all, miraculously still off the wine! Really stressful, but happily emotional day yesterday. I would have drunk but didn't have any in the house and the supermarket was shut. A blessing in disguise, I think. May indulge in a couple tonight, not sure yet.

pyro, I wouldn't worry too much, at least you had mon and tues booze free.

That's what I mean about going over the top on the days I do drink pyroGrin. Don't beat yourself up about it, you have plenty of booze free days ahead. Keep the 48hr liver recovery in mind.

Maybe try a couple of days in the next week when you just have one Hmm? Smile

Morning all - am feeling decidedly grim having fallen off the wagon with a spectacular thump last night.

Managed Mon & Tues booze free then last night in a kind of dramatic 'fuck it' gesture I drank an entire bottle of wine. Feel like death this morning.

Can someone give me a leg-up back onto the wagon please? Sad

Can I join in? I managed this last week (Sunday to Thursday), but only managed Monday this week...

I was about to say the same Wilbury.

For me it about making it a decision to have a drink because I really want to, with a nice meal or on a night out for example. Rather than it being just routine/habit to pour a glass of an evening.

I had nothing Sunday, a bottle of beer with an Indian takeaway with DH on Monday (he has been away for weekend), nothing yesterday, a glass of red with steak and chips at a restaurant this evening. This is hugely different to how I would have been a month ago, having roughly 2 glasses of wine a night almost every night at home then more when out for an evening. Much more "conscious" drinking, with a day without being perfectly normal rather than an effort to have a day off!

I am on hols next week and will drink every day I am sure, but that's ok for me too, I think it's the daily drinking at home that is damaging, health and calorie wise.

I think that is perfectly acceptable :) happy anniversary !

That to me is normal drinking , my issue isn't really so much not drinking at all ever in the week that is just my focus to give me a kick now . I just want to drink when its an occasion and not just because it is 7 o clock and that's what happens every day at 7 .

I do feel better for sticking to it but I know that we are away next week and it is part of our holiday to have a drink in the evening and that's ok to me . But when we get back and its just a bog standard day then I won't drink .

Well done everyone , I think we are all doing fab !

Permission to cave in.

Done sun, mon and tues but tonight is our wedding anniversary and my brother had given us a lovely bottle of wine.

Will back on the wagon tomorrow though. Promise.

Gah.

Did Sunday and Monday perfectly alcohol free.

Neighbours came round last night armed with wine. I had a glass and a half. How annoying.

Onwards and upwards for booze-free night tonight and tomorrow.

Well done to those who haven't caved in.

Hi I'm backing I am doing really well, I managed Sun to wed last week (one vodka on thu) a couple on fri and quite a few on sat as we were out.

This week I've done sun, mon and tue so far just tonight to go, I get weighed tomorrow and then might have 1 when I get back depending on how my weigh in has gone. Gutting thing is I didn't even lose any weight and in fact put half a pound on, wasn't happy, I'd been really good and gone swimming as well.

This week I've been really busy working 14-15hr days but I'm having this evening off, dh is out think I might have a nice bath, paint my nails and have a bit of a pamper evening. Smile

Hope you are all doing well x

Hi all! Yes I did another night without booze and will stay off it again tonight, looking forward to a large glass of red wine on Thursday evening when DH is out boozing with his mates though Smile

coribells Gin and slimline tonic with loads of ice and a slice of lime. Yum.

Anyway. fack you'll be pleased to know I didn't drink last night! I honestly wanted to. I could almost feel the wine sliding down my throat, but DH wasn't drinking so I decided I wouldn't either. Glad I didn't to be honest.

How is everyone else doing?

I've been doing well. Haven't had a drink since Saturday.
I am low carbing , so an extra incentive to keep off the booze. I did discover that Gin has NO carbs though, so that s my tipple on the weekends at the moment. I think I can probably make it til Friday without indulging. Im skint anyway so no use waisting money on it.

No, Hazel!! See leaving work as your special treat. Imagine you're taking off your shitty day like a coat and hang it up at work. You'll feel 'lighter' as you leave. Grin
