Have just discovered on the 5:2 thread that India has a different BMI chart to take into account the fact that Indians have higher body fat percentages (and associated risk factors that come with that) compared to westerners at the same BMI. So India sets the normal weight category as 18.5 - 22.9 BMI. I am originally from India so I am very glad I decided to revise my weight loss goal. As it currently stands I am normal weight by western standards but still overweight by Indian standards. So onwards and downwards for me!

RandallPinkFloyd · 05/07/2013 09:07

Have a fab time Lizzy!

That's interesting Bssh, those figures are quite a lot lower aren't they. By their standards I've only just hit healthy. Blimey, that makes you think eh?

Off today to the mega-wedding, it's in the arse end of nowhere so no idea if there'll be any Internet. As always I shall log as accurately as possible but I can guarantee it won't be pretty. Think we'll bypass weigh-in Wednesday next week!

See you all on the other side Grin

BsshBossh · 05/07/2013 09:21

Eat for all of us Randall Grin. Enjoy!

RandallPinkFloyd · 05/07/2013 09:48

If you insist Grin

Lizzylou · 05/07/2013 09:57

Randall your skinny ass off Grin Grin Grin
Bssh, blimey. Good job I am not of Indian descent! Shock

Shop done, bit of pilates then intensive grooming and hitting the road lunchtime.
Have never been on a spa break, bit excited Grin

Have fab times lizzy and randall

Vair vair jealous Envy

My weekend is just me and dd as dh and ds have golf competitions. We do have a barbecue tomorrow so I need to get preparing as my only helper is dd.

On top of that I have hurt my foot. Not sure what has happened but I had to do an amazing jump to avoid 5kg of frozen bacon dropping on my feet (bloody work, dangerous place to be). It feels like I have a constant cramp along the bottom of my foot and up along the calf. Like a true idiot hero I carried on working though.

Needless to say no Jillian today. Lost half a pound, great work as this week has not been my best. Will be trying to limit the damage for tomorrow, though we are cracking open the Pimms so may fall by the wayside (in more ways than one).

Have a great Friday!

randall you sure you don't want to take me as your plus one? I promise to not behave one little bitGrin

RandallPinkFloyd · 05/07/2013 10:31

If you can be in Penrhyndeudraeth for 4:30 today you're in!

SylviaDaisyPouncer · 05/07/2013 10:41

Would look like a right plonker trying to ask for directions wouldn't I?

Thinking if I leave a fully stocked fridge and £20 on the side the kids will be fine to fend for themselves won't they?

DoubleMum · 05/07/2013 10:55

I am not going to attempt to pronounce that Randall. Hope you have a rocking time at the wedding.
Bssh that's really interesting. I wonder if it applies to any other nationalities?
I am really struggling with the whole idea of healthy eating for some reason at the moment, but checking in with everyone in the hope my mojo will reappear. This weekend is the school fete and I have 50 scones to make tomorrow for cream teas (luckily I don't like cream teas although I don't say no to a hot buttered scone), then on Sunday presuming that Mr Murray is playing we've been invited to a friend's for a BBQ.

DoubleMum yes, other Asian countries have their own BMI bands as they too take into account genetic/ethnic differences of body fat composition, environmental and health risk factors but they tend to vary between 22-25 normal BMI range - so still generally lower than western measures. All very interesting yet makes sense when I think about it as genetic, environmental and cultural factors vary so much.

RandallPinkFloyd · 05/07/2013 14:49

Pen-rhin-dye-dr-eye-th, is as close as I can explain it written down.

They'll be grand SDP, come on down.

Hot buttered scones you say Double, if they're cheesey ones send a couple here please!

buzzybuzzybeeshoes · 05/07/2013 16:52

Randall and Lizzy enjoy! Can't decide which of you is making me most jealous Envy I think maybe the spa break as I do love a hotel breakfast over a lamby pizza Wink

I have been LOLing over "clean and jerk" [immature emoticon]

Bssh you must surely not have much more to lose even with the different BMI? It's surprising the NHS doesn't include different race options in their online calculators. Really interesting - do you get any extra pounds because of the serious weightlifting? (Briefly wonders whether there is an option for those of fat stocky Highland descent which would allow me to continue weighing over 14 stone but be fine )

I am mainly trying to get a decent fast day under my belt today. Wednesday went very, very wrong after I realised I had somehow missed the application deadline for after school club - don't know WTF happened as normally I send back all letters immediately even if it's just the school disco - and we basically rely on this for childcare Sad Don't think I went too far over as had barely eaten that day, but couldn't bear to log it all! Today I've had 3 squares of choc Blush and a small veggie sushi thing.

Chiefs - my nice boss brought me a Mars Bar ice cream at my desk today and I turned it down Grin

Hope everyone's gearing up nicely for the hot weather!

SDP sorry about the foot Sad Hope it's better soon. At least try to enjoy the break from evil Jillian Wink

BsshBossh · 05/07/2013 18:20

I've reported the post above buzzy's.

SylviaDaisyPouncer · 05/07/2013 20:26

Hmm I was a little Confused about that post bssh

Currently doing anything to avoid watching the Murray match. Keep flicking over just to have a peek though. Really would like to see him win. Ds friends say dh looks like Murray, though there's a resemblance I have to say dh is a much more greying, less ripped version Grin. He is Scottish and mumbles a lot however!

double I would spend a fortune at your fete, can't resist a cream tea. This is the first year in ages I've not made boxes of Scones for school (now ds is at secondary). Probably a good thing as my willpower is at an all time low.
You will get your mojo back, besides, we are Chiefs and we don't leave anyone behind!

buzzy you get a gold star for the mars bar ice cream, well done! Hope you got the after school club sorted. I used to be very organised until dd came along, then it all went to pot and to this day I have never quite got back to super organised. My best one was going to get my car tax and realising my MOT was a month out. I even had a June date on the calendar, heaven knows what I was thinking.

Though I haven't taken part in any shredding I have done some weights and crunches so feeling slightly surprised impressed with myself. Will try to do some more tomorrow, def no jumping jacks though!

LaundryLegoLunch · 05/07/2013 20:49

Hi chiefs!

Well. NYC was amazing but boy did I eat! From the moment we arrived at the airport on Mon evening to the second we touched down this morning I ate. It was nice to feel unconcerned about calorie values for a few days but I gained 5lbs (in 4 days!!?!) and so I've been good today as already my jeans have felt a bit uncomfortable.
I'm off to bed as I'm totally jet lagged but will catch up and reply properly tomorrow.

SylviaDaisyPouncer · 05/07/2013 21:46

5lb in 4 days?!

I'm sure that will be all the jetting about lego, air pressure in the cabin and the likes. Convinced of it...

Bet you had a totally fab time thoughGrin

BsshBossh · 05/07/2013 23:09

Welcome back Lego! Those 5 lbs will come off in no time as I don't any or at least much of it willbe actual fat.

BsshBossh · 05/07/2013 23:13

No weigh in for me today - too nervous because I only managed 1 proper and 1 half fast this week and still no exercise at all. Will brave the scales tomorrow morning though, I think. On a positive note, our kitchen is 90% done and is looking fab - very white, very minimalist, very bright. Can't wait to cook and eat in it.

BsshBossh · 06/07/2013 07:45

Weekly weigh-in. 2.2 lbs down :) Happy with this 'cause no exercise this week and "only" 1.5 fasts. The no snacking definitely contributed to the loss.

DoubleMum · 06/07/2013 09:30

Well done Bssh!
Glad you had a good time Lego
Am in the throes of scone baking and it's getting uncomfortably hot.
However am I still Murray mellow.
Celebration BBQ tomorrow may involve over-eating and drinking but Murray's worth it.

OP posts:
buzzybuzzybeeshoes · 06/07/2013 15:15

Double hope the bakeathon is going well and that you refind your mojo. Real sympathy, it is bloody hard isn't it. I think I've been losing and refinding mine for most of my adult life Wink

Lego so Envy of New York! It would have been rude not to sample the cuisine, you'll have that 5lb off in no time. As the others say, of course it won't all be fat. You'd have been bitter and resentful if you'd tried to MFP it, dude. Glad you had a good time and hope the jetlag isn't too grim today - at least it's a hot day so good for snoozing in!

SDP just waiting to hear about after school club, she's gone on the waiting list. Impressed by the weights! Taking a leaf out of Bsssh and Lizzy's books eh. Lizzy the Dynaband and DVD you recommended have arrived, so am going to take those out of the wrappers later when I can be arsed and hope that isn't 2 years hence, like wot happened with the Shred

Bsssh well done on the loss, you powerhouse, you!

Lazy day for me today - just doing a bit of shopping, tinkering about in the house etc. Unfortunately I had a meeting in Euston yesterday and visited the Indian sweet shop [why do I do it to myself emoticon] so have been eating those today. At least the fast day yesterday went OK.

This weather's lovely isn't it Grin

Lizzylou · 07/07/2013 12:27

Hola chiefs.
Excellent work as ever Bssh and an Envy of your new kitchen.
Lego as others have said, easy on, easy off.
Buzzy, do the DVD!

Had an amazing weekend, so much booze and food and laughs. Managed a 30min swim (head clearing on Saturday morning!) and danced a lot but will be juicing for rest of day today.
Gad so many compliments on my weightloss and fitness. I was always a sloth at Uni so bit of a shock. Blush

DoubleMum · 08/07/2013 12:27

SOOO pleased for Andy Murray. Managed to not consume too horrific a number of calories as well, which can only be good. Go Chiefs!
