100lb challenge

Whale2Waif · 17/04/2013 09:28

Oh yes, that's right. I need to lose 100lbs.

I'm doing this mainly to give myself a big kick and if it's on here I will update and hopefully keep my motivation.

So does anyone else need to lose a scary amount of weight and would like to join me? I've sorted my gym membership and downloaded mfp (but not sure if I'll be sticking with it).

I can't believe it has come to this Blush Angry.

Qazxc sorry about the new scales, sounds like you should stick with the old ones. Good luck with tomorrow's weigh in.

Mature, sorry can't recommend any food. I'm not counting calories yet but just eating half my usual portion size.

chirpchirp · 20/05/2013 20:43

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this but I freaking hate kettle bell! Hopefully it will all be worthwhile when I jump on the scale tomorrow.

chirpchirp · 21/05/2013 08:55

Arrgh! Horrible lying scales say I've gained a pound and am back at 16st. Trying to tell myself all the things I said to qazxc about gaining muscle and water retention but I'm really annoyed as I thought I had broken through this milestone. My clothes are definitely looser - even the new work trousers that are a size smaller than a month ago are needing a belt but seriously....argggghhh!

ZolaBuddleia · 21/05/2013 09:59

AAARGGHGHH! Lying swines.

Although, as Peter Kaye says, "A POUND?!! A POUND?!! I shit a pound!".

Keep going, you've already lost more than me!

chirpchirp · 21/05/2013 11:23

Ha! Thanks Zola. I'm over it now but after beasting it at kettle bell last night I wanted results! lol. Head down, refocused. Tonight I shall be a yoga goddess.

ZolaBuddleia · 21/05/2013 11:48

I too will be yoga-ing this evening. If I can be arsed to hoover the carpet first.

Twirlbitesruinedmylife · 21/05/2013 12:22

Chirp, sorry about today's result; hope the yoga goes well.

I stupidly went on the scales this morning (despite it not being my weigh-in day) and found I'd put on a pound too.

qazxc · 21/05/2013 12:42

Methinks that the scales are all plotting against us.
Weighing in this evening, so fx. Then have a works meal so will have a week to claw it back.
Went to aqua last night and after was planning to do a few lengths, only managed half one when one of my legs started cramping, bloody hell that was painful! Still feels a bit sore today, hopefully will be back on form tomorrow.

chirpchirp · 21/05/2013 13:09

There is clearly some conspiracy going on here. Three of us gain a pound.

Enjoying a rather scrummy salad for my lunch and was wondering what do you put in a salad? For me it's nothing without tomatoes and black olives but have been looking for some new ideas as I always seem to make the same one.

qazxc · 21/05/2013 18:31

so third set of chemist scales and my weight and height have changed again.
I think I'll have to try and stick to just one, to monitor progress.
On this scales i am minus three pounds first set and four pounds from set 2. so hopefully that means my weight has gone down, but i'm really not sure.
Anyway will be putting diet aside for a night and back on straight and narrow tomorrow.

wrinklyraisin · 23/05/2013 15:34

Can I join too? I have 3 weddings to go to later this year (and maybe my own too ;D) so I need to lose 50lbs to start with...

Have started (re-started) the 5:2 plan, I work out 3-4 times a week at a gym plus I want to dust off the elliptical trainer in the basement.

It's hard losing weight as I have mild insulin resistance plus I don't sleep well, so my metabolism is shot.

Would love any advice and tips :)

Twirlbitesruinedmylife · 23/05/2013 20:43

Welcome wrinkly!

chirpchirp · 23/05/2013 20:51

Hi wrinkly, welcome aboard.

qazxc · 23/05/2013 21:52

Welcome Wrinkly!
Have just taken the plunge and done a kettlebell class. It nearly killed me (melodramatic me?), and I was going a lot slower than the others but i got through it!

chirpchirp · 23/05/2013 22:06

Well done qazxc! It's horrible isn't it! I would love to say that it gets easier but it doesn't! On Monday I accidentally picked up a 6kg weight instead of the usual 4kg. Did 20mins of the class before we got to the single arm exercises and I realised! God I hate kettle bell!

qazxc · 24/05/2013 10:10

it was the running, skipping , jumping jacks between sets that did me in. I felt like telling him "I'm nearly seventeen stone mate, shall we duct tape a couple of coal bags to you and see how good you can jump/skip/run/do burpees?"

chirpchirp · 24/05/2013 10:37

You get to put your kettle bell down while doing jumping jacks??? My instructor is a proper bastard! ha ha.

The scales were kind to me today! Another 2lb off and back under the 16st goal - now 15st 12lb. Really hoping I can keep that number going down. Aiming for another 2lb by next Friday. Slow and steady and all that. I was 15st 8lb when I fell pregnant with DS so getting under that will be another milestone.

What's everyone up to this weekend?

lardybum · 24/05/2013 11:00

Welcome wrinkly!

Well done on the loss chirp, fingers crossed you have saw the back of 16st for good now!

My weigh in today, and a 3lb loss for me making me 13st 8lbs / 190lbs which I was pleasantly surprised at as I have come on and am bloated like god knows what! Been doubled up and all woe is me for the past few days wimp with cramps

Got my little sister coming staying with us over the hols, so we have quite a few things planned ie bowling, cinemas, zoo. Hopefully get some nice weather for a nice picnic at the park too! What's everyone elses plans?

chirpchirp · 24/05/2013 11:25

Brilliant Lardy. You're tearing through it! Hope you feel better soon.

I'm off out tonight to the zoo :) There is an event on with lots of street performers, bars, silent disco, comedy, and food stalls. Should be fun! Tomorrow I have my gravity class and then a wedding reception in the evening but have offered to drive so again can avoid the booze and just hit the dancefloor to burn some calories!

ZolaBuddleia · 24/05/2013 11:33

Hello wrinkly!

chirp and lardy, you're doing fabulously well. There's no way I could do anything remotely resembling a jumping jack, my pelvic floor would be in mutiny!

I'm not weighing til Monday, am cutting down wheat and dairy, and doing well. Porridge for breakfast with soya milk and no sarnies. Have fallen off the sweety wagon a couple of times, but hoping the overall weight trend in downwards!

chirpchirp · 24/05/2013 13:16

Good luck Zola. I've been trying to cut out bread. Thought I would really miss it but didn't have any for a few weeks and didn't at all. I did however notice how horrible I felt after indulging in a couple of thick cut slices of a bagatte at picnic the other day so bloated and lathargic afterwards. I think at some point if I really want to achieve a healthy BMI I am going to have to join the low carb thread but I'm still on baby steps at the moment! Once my weight plateaus I will accept defeat and sign up!

wrinklyraisin · 24/05/2013 15:40

I'm 231lbs... Heaviest I've ever been and it's kind of shocking putting that down in black and white! Hoping to get below 200 by the end of the summer, figured 10lbs a month for the next 3 months is a reasonable goal?

My "sin" is coffee. With cream and sugar. I am addicted. I've tried giving up or even cutting down, I was a miserable cow lol. What can I replace it with? I know the caffeine is bad.

I'm trying to limit fruits and sugars and processed food as I also have candida issues... Gosh I'm a mess lol. I need to go live on a vegan yoga commune for a year lol. It's hard doing all the "right" things in the Real World. Plus it's expensive!!!!

qazxc · 24/05/2013 19:29

wrinkly look at that weight and tell yourself "i will never be this heavy again!". Sooner than you think it will be a distant memory, although i won't lie loosing weight isn't easy.
10lb a month sounds doable to me.
Try and cut things out gradually and try to get active/more active. Since I've started exercising i feel much better, the scales haven't been moving much but i have more energy and don't get out of breath as easily.
I'm off to aqua aerobics tonight, i love the water as i feel "weightless" and it's the easiest class to follow.

qazxc · 24/05/2013 19:32

chirp yes he is a bastard!
Well done for seeing the back of 16st, hopefully that will be me by the end of the summer.

Twirlbitesruinedmylife · 25/05/2013 19:50

Well done chip and lardy.

Wrinkly, I have a similar problem with coke. I've been cutting down by drinking a glass of water before each coke and drinking coke from a very small cup. I've cut my consumption in half and avoided getting the headaches I usually get when I try to quit.

Tomorrow's weigh in day. Had a really bad day on Thurs and ate loads of biscuits in a meeting so am expecting to be punished on the scales.
