100lb challenge

Whale2Waif · 17/04/2013 09:28

Oh yes, that's right. I need to lose 100lbs.

I'm doing this mainly to give myself a big kick and if it's on here I will update and hopefully keep my motivation.

So does anyone else need to lose a scary amount of weight and would like to join me? I've sorted my gym membership and downloaded mfp (but not sure if I'll be sticking with it).

I can't believe it has come to this Blush Angry.

I'd say maintaining after an allsorts binge is pretty good going zola :D

I didn't think I would have the confidence to weigh myself in public at first but I go first thing in the morning and there really aren't that many people about. Also no-one else can see the screen as it is at eye level. Also I think the kind of idiots that would judge you for trying to lose weight are the same idiots who judge you for being fat. They're not worth my time so fuck them!

ZolaBuddleia · 13/05/2013 13:14

Fighting talk! I suppose you also can't doubt the accuracy of the scales. I do have a mental image of taking all my clothes off like for my weigh ins at home though.

Can't remember now, how much do you need to lose and how far have you got?

chirpchirp · 13/05/2013 13:35

:D I do take my shoes and belt off, don't put on any jewellery and try to make sure I wear the same trousers and a light shirt at every weigh in Grin

I started at 235lbs (just under 17 stone) and at last weigh in was 224 so lost about almost a stone. I'm 5ft 6 so around ideally I would like to be around the 150lb mark but at the moment that just sounds so far away (and also a weight that I probably haven't been since primary school!) First real target is to get under 200lb and then have some sort of (non food related) treat. What are your goals Zola?

ZolaBuddleia · 13/05/2013 15:11

I'm currently 14 stone 11, down from 15 stone. Target is 10 stone, so in two weeks I've lost 3lb out of 60. DP has lost 10lb in the same time. AngryEnvy

Bless you, taking your belt off. Grin

Don't even get me started over the jealous I have of DH's metabolism. It's like he's still six! He can (and often does) sit down on a Friday night and demolish and entire multipack of crisps and has never in the decade we've been together so much as put on a pound! He doesn't even exercise either. I on the other hand look at a bag of Walkers Senations and boom! My ass expands.

Kettle hell tonight - wish me luck!

qazxc · 13/05/2013 17:45

snap with the amazing eating DP, scoffs takeaways and not an ounce goes on.
I don't think i'd be brave enough to go and weigh myself in public, and would be worried i'd disolve in tears if i actually saw the number. I know it's probably not good to stick my head in the sand but at the moment i'm just not strong enough mentally. I've had issues with food in the past and am also afraid of getting obsessed with the weight and starving myself.
So this time i am concentrating on exercise and eating healthy. I'm only starting but have been on a 5k walk every day and really feel it in my legs which spurs me on. It's also great to have me time and i feel more relaxed afterwards.

lardybum · 13/05/2013 17:57

Welcome to the new arrivals!

And good luck chirp, you have my sympathy Grin

Didn't have a weigh in last week. Scales broke, and not replaced yet. Went to another BBQ yesterday though but I wasn't too naughty so hopefully not done any damage hopes

chirpchirp · 13/05/2013 21:39

That's great with the walking qazxc. Don't feel pressured to get on the scales just do what's right for you.

Wish we had the weather to break out the bbq's sadly in Scotland we had a nice little sleet/hail storm today!

Weigh in tomorrow, will report in due course!

Twirlbitesruinedmylife · 13/05/2013 23:14

Hope I'm not too late to join.
Need to lose six stone; am still trying to figure out what programme to follow but obviously will not be eating chocolate.
Really impressed by all your efforts.

chirpchirp · 14/05/2013 11:15

Hi Twirl - great name btw! Never too late to join us, welcome aboard.

Weigh in and I'm heading in the right direction. My bad week really took it's toll on my and I'm still trying to undo the damage I did. It's definitely motiviated me to be more disciplined and fall off the wagon at any given opportunity.

A couple of people at work commented that I look like I've lost a bit of weight so that motivating too. Spot of yoga tonight and a salad for dinner. I will be under 16st by next week - I will, I will, I will!

lardybum · 14/05/2013 19:22

Welcome twirl!

How did it go chirp? Keeping everything crossed for next week!

My aim is to be under 14stone by Friday dreams but not too sure :/

Just got back from wk4r1 and I have only one word to say... killer!

qazxc · 14/05/2013 19:28

Welcome Twirl.

Have faced my fear and hoped on the dreaded scales. THEY BLOODY TALK AT MY CHEMIST! Thankfully not many people in shop, to see my mortification which rapidly turn to abject horror when the scales revealed i am 16.12. My heaviest ever. No wonder i'm not getting pg. Have been on extra long walk tonight (7k).

am off to google cure for blisters. Hope you've all had a good day!

chirpchirp · 14/05/2013 22:17

I'm at 16st 1lb lardy, I had a week were I stupidly let things slide and gained 2lb! I'm putting 1lb down to water retention!! (The other lb was full fat coke and sausages!) If I can lose 2lb by next Tuesday I will be happy. Wed/thurs are always my temptation filled days as I'm off work hanging out with DS and there is no one around to keep an eye on me! Swimming and soft play in the morning will at least get me out of the house and away from the biscuits! Also had a graze box delivered today so have delicious healthy snack to occupy me!

Well done qazxc! Don't think I'd be a fan of chatty scales either! That's pretty much what I started at and now despite my wobble almost lost a stone in a matter of weeks. Getting into the right head space is half the battle.

lardybum · 15/05/2013 09:59

qaz, well done for jumping on the scales. That will be your biggest motivator now! I was 16st around the end of Jan, and I was at 14st 2 lbs when I last weighed myself a couple of weeks ago and that is with me having a holiday off (and takeaways most nights) in Feb and 2 weeks off exercising when I injured myself, so probably could of lost even more! So you will get there, just give yourself little goals, like getting under 16st by the end of June (you will do it before, but you will get a sense of accomplishment which will spur you on!) and so on!

chirp, sounds very doable to me! Especially with those killer kettle classes Grin

I am going to get myself some some scales tomorrow, but I am NOT going to jump on them until Friday morning. Fridays are my weigh in days, and leaving it until then may mean I lose an extra lb or something Grin

Really nervous after 2 naughty BBQs. Tut tut...Going to go for yet another jog tonight to get burning it off. Wish me luck, I nearly died after last nights!

qazxc · 15/05/2013 13:10

Talk to me about kettle classes. how fit do you need to be? they do them in my local gym but am to much of a chicken to try.
It's great reading about your successes, makes me believe that the mess i have gotten myself into is sortable.
Will be treating myself to a sport bra tonight, and will treat myself to a new pair of trainers and/or tracksuit when i lose my first stone.

chirpchirp · 15/05/2013 13:27

I'm hopeful Lardy! I'm not strict enough to actually own a pair of scales - I know I would jump on them every day and be annoyed if I had gained/not lost in a matter of hours! Good luck for Friday and with the jog - are you following C25K?

Qazxc - I won't lie. Kettlebell is horrible. It's can be painful and exhausting but ultimately the fact is, it works. After each class I can see a little more tone in my arm and my bingo wings are slowly decreasing! I got a cheap heart rate monitor off ebay and according to that in a 45 minute class I burned over 900 calories (?!?) so although it's a bit like living hell I keep going back because it gets the results I want. Been four weeks in a row now and I'm starting to find it slightly easier. Most instructors are nice people. They will tell you to go at your own speed and to stop and catch your breath if you need to. Give it a try you might be a sadist enjoy it.

WarmAndFuzzy · 15/05/2013 20:50

Just came back and saw your reply jchocchip - yes I would be wouldn't I! Grin My weight was 248, not 148 (already lost a bit but assuming it's mostly water and glycogen the first few days). I meant aiming for 148!

So far so good!

Thanks chirpchirp :)

I've just bought Zumba for the Wii, I'll have a go tonight. DS1 (8) goes to Zumba at his school so I was going to persuade him to do it with me!

Twirlbitesruinedmylife · 15/05/2013 20:52

Thanks for the welcome!

Good luck with the next weigh in Chirp and Lardy; looking forward to breaking through a stone milestone.

Went to the gym today. Disappointed to see that my heart rate was at recommended max level even when I was only walking fast. Guess things can only get better. After an hour and a half I'd burnt off 750 calories so really pleased with myself.

chirpchirp · 15/05/2013 22:13

Well done twirl. Do you have a heart rate monitor or just going on the read from the treadmill?

Twirlbitesruinedmylife · 15/05/2013 22:28

Chirp: Just reading from treadmill, is that unwise?

chirpchirp · 16/05/2013 11:39

I don't think it's unwise, I just don't think it's all that accurate (or maybe it's just the equipment at my gym!)

qazxc · 16/05/2013 19:34

twirl you're moving, getting active, building muscle which in turn will burn more calories, so even if the reading on the treadmill is a bit hit and miss (because the machine does not know how much of you is muscle or not) it doesn't matter. The more you exercise, the easier it will get.

qazxc · 16/05/2013 19:43

so far so good fx. i have been eating healthy and exercising. I tried a half hour spinning class yesterday and whilst i wasn't going at the speed and difficulty level of the others, i managed to get through it.
I even stayed on course when colleagues tried to ply me with cream bun "you deserve a treat! you went to the gym, you can have it. You're soooo strict on your diet!". I pointed out that we're all going out for a meal next week so taht i would be having a "break" from my diet then.

peanutMD · 16/05/2013 19:54

can i join?

i have a 10 week old DD and finding it hard to shift anymore weight, I'm 29lbs lighter than i was when i fell pregnant so I'm chuffed about that but now my weight seems to have levelled.

Need to keep motivated with 75lbs left to go, i don't have time for exercise classes but I'm trying to walk everywhere and plan on maybe doing a dvd twice a week if my DD will allow lol.

I'm also trying to train myself with portions and healthy earring rather than following a diet so i have invested in a smaller plate and need to get some scales to start weighing outfoods too.

RubyOnRails · 16/05/2013 19:59

OP. now listen, you can totally do it. I lost a stone a month for seven months. I basically lost my appetite aka heartbreak diet. Now, I dont advocate such dramatic shift, but it's all the proof I needed that its all about MINDSET. The weight just flew off me, and once I'd lost a few stone I began to exercise vigorously, then I got really excited and started taking stuff like hoodia. (Which has its place I suppose but you don't need that stuff)
