Whale2Waif · 17/04/2013 09:28

Oh yes, that's right. I need to lose 100lbs.

I'm doing this mainly to give myself a big kick and if it's on here I will update and hopefully keep my motivation.

So does anyone else need to lose a scary amount of weight and would like to join me? I've sorted my gym membership and downloaded mfp (but not sure if I'll be sticking with it).

I can't believe it has come to this Blush Angry.

If you pm me, I'll happily send you some thinsp, it really transformed my life. I have to lose three stone post baby....I was told I was infertile at 17 stone...I've had two babies since, both unexpected :))) good luck

Twirlbitesruinedmylife · 16/05/2013 21:31

Hi Peanut
So impressed you can lose weight with a 10 week old. Food was the only thing which kept me going through the sleepless nights. But then food has always been my answer to when things get tough. Unlike Ruby heartache sends my weight rising not falling.
Guess we're all different but great to hear how well things have gone for you Ruby.

lardybum · 17/05/2013 07:18

Weigh in this morning, and I am now 13st and 11lbs Grin making me 193lbs now, yay!

Welcome aboard peanut, and loads of luck!

Well done qaz on resisting temptation. It will be worth it next week I am sure Grin

chirpchirp · 17/05/2013 08:59

15st 13lb! 15st 13lb! Under 16 stone target and 4 days ahead of schedule!

Well done lardy! You're well on your way!

Welcome peanut and congratulations on your DD.

Weekend plans? I have a night out tonigh but have offered to drive giving me an excuse to avoid the evil calorific booze!
Gravity class Saturday morning followed by lunch with the inlaws and finishing off the weekend with The Great Gatsby. What will you be up to? To those who do have a drink at the weekend what do you have and how many. I'm totally off it at the moment because I'm shit at moderation!

qazxc · 17/05/2013 09:05

Well done lardy and chirp!

ZolaBuddleia · 17/05/2013 09:58

Well done ladies! I've totally stalled after 2 weeks, lost nothing last week. Saw a video of myself and I'm really appalled ar what I've become. TTC against the clock (am 42) and I hate that I can my find the discipline to stop fucking eating.

lardybum · 17/05/2013 10:00

Thanks Grin and well done to you too chirp!

Well, I am very naughty when it comes to the wine. I usually have about 2 3 bottles over the weekends but it doesn't seem to be hindering the weight loss. I am off out with my closest friend tonight for a meal and a few as we haven't done it in over a year, but I am going to behave on the food front and make up for it on the booze side of it Wink

qazxc · 17/05/2013 14:24

zola it is very disappointing when the results refuse to come, but keep on the right track and those scales will start moving again. Don't worry about the video in a few months you'll have a new body to show (hopefully with a bump attached)

ZolaBuddleia · 17/05/2013 15:27

My DP has incredible willpower, he's lost 10lb in 2 weeks! I'm thinking about food all the time and really struggling. It's ridiculous, isn't it? Thanks for the encouragement, I need to eat nothing but fruit for a week so I feel like I'm getting somewhere!

chirpchirp · 17/05/2013 16:43

Ah, Zola, I know just how you feel. Are you drinking enough water? I have been drinking 2-3 ltrs a day over the last couple of weeks and definitely don't feel as hungry anymore. My other trick is chewing gum. Want some chocolate?? Get a bit of chewing gum in your mouth.

At the moment an average day for me looks like this

Breakfast - Oats so Simple porridge with skimmed milk
Snack - fruit (don't always have this only on the days I'm hungry)
Lunch - Salad, tomatoes, black olives, and either turkey, chicken or tuna
snack - fruit (again only if I'm feeling it!)
Dinner - Fish or chicken with loads of veg and maybe a few of DH's potato wedges.

No booze, no carbonated drinks. I try and make sure I have loads of healthy snacky stuff around the house incase I do get the urge - my Graze box comes in super handy for this.

lardybum · 17/05/2013 17:59

Sorry zola, I missed your post. So sorry to hear you have had no loss :(

Easier said than done, but try not to take it to heart. Quite a lot of people stall, and it can be down to a number of things. Water retention? Muscle build? Time of the month? And those are only a few possible reasons that I know of.

qazxc · 17/05/2013 18:23

zola don't compare yourself to DP, he is a different person with a different body. What might work for him might not work for you. Please don't starve yourself, it's really not healthy and when you succumb to hunger you will only feel worse about yourself. It's normal for food to be on your mind, you are making big changes. Try to plan your meals and snacks, ban any junk from the house, drink lots of water or herbal tea, hopefully this might help.
(((((((hugs)))))))

Twirlbitesruinedmylife · 17/05/2013 21:37

Well done chirp and lardy

Good luck zola. I tried for nine years for DD and was told to lose weight. Was advised to lose three stone but got pregnant after one.

ZolaBuddleia · 17/05/2013 22:17

Bless you ladies for being kind. Felt angry with myself and a bit ashamed at how I've let things slide. Had a good day though, not eaten a single Bad Thing, so at least I won't wake up tomorrow feeling guilty.

Does the drinking lots of water actually aid weight loss, or is it just that you don't feel so hungry?

qazxc · 18/05/2013 08:06

well drinking will keep your system "flushed" and keeping hydrated can only be a good thing. But the main advantage is that it does ease the hunger.

ZolaBuddleia · 18/05/2013 08:51

Thanks. I was 14st 4lb when I got pregnant, and am currently 14st 11lb. I know it's not as simple as lose half a stone, particularly as I'm an old gimmer, but it's got to help with my health all round, hasn't it?

Going for day 2 of positivity and guilt free healthy food options!

Thanks again ladies.

Twirlbitesruinedmylife · 19/05/2013 09:54

Weighing in after first week, couldn't use same scales but, assuming scales are consistent have lost 9 pounds.

Even if scales are wrong have also lost 4 cm off waist!

Never lost anything like this before and I've basically been on and off a diet my whole adult life.

I have been spending hours at gyms (because heart rate monitor says I can't do more than fast walking.) So last night watched Silver Surfer and most of the follow up to Wall Street and burnt off 1450 cals.

qazxc · 19/05/2013 10:10

Well done twirl! That's a great result. My weigh in (at the dreaded talking scales in local chemist) is Tuesday, so fx. I also have a works dinner that night, but at least it gives me a week to work it off.

ZolaBuddleia · 19/05/2013 12:08

Blimey Twirl, that's fab!

Couldn't face talking scales, my local Boots is v small and the assistants know me, so if the scales bellowed out "one at a time please" when I got on there I'd be mortified.

Starting tomorrow I'm going to change my breakfast regime, DP reckons he's losing so much because he's stopped eating wheat/rice based cereals with milk and is doing porridge with soya.

chirpchirp · 19/05/2013 13:06

Well done twirl! That's fantastic.

Have to agree with your DH Zola. Cereal is shit and full of sugar. I used to have a bowl of Special K every morning stupidly thinking it was relatively healthy. It's not and I would always be hungry again by 10/11am. Now I either have porridge or scrambled eggs for breakfast and I rarely get hungry before lunch time.

ZolaBuddleia · 19/05/2013 13:11

Yes. Remaining positive and trying to focus on the changes I've made to my diet so far. After a lifetime of over eating and mindless bingeing making radical changes has failed every time, this time I'm making gradual adjustments in the hope they stick.

Have already reduced chocolate, biscuits and cake to almost zero so am going to build on that by tackling the breakfast issue.

I like this thread, lots of nice ladies. Smile

lardybum · 19/05/2013 13:40

That is absolutely fantastic twirl, well done!

Yes, I agree. This thread is full of really lovely and supportive ladies and we will all get each other through it and achieving our goals Smile.

It is the best way to do it I find zola, small changes at a time. If I do it all at once I tend to cave in.

qazxc · 19/05/2013 13:40

In my quest of more discreet scales. I tried the ones at my other chemist (and temptation was getting the best of me) in the hope they might be more discreet. No such luck, as it started bellowing for me to stand upright and refusing to just weigh me but also loudlky take my blood pressure for what seemed like an eternity.
I have put on a pound Sad
I have grown 6cm (approx 2inches), was wearing flat shoes so not a heel issue. Confused
so on the plus side my BMI has gone down. Wink

I am quite disappointed my weight has either gone up or not changed. but picking myself up and moving onwards and upwards.

MatureUniStudent · 19/05/2013 18:37

5 more pounds lost but it has been a heavy two weeks and I am hovering at the next stone bracket. So any ideas for 400 calorie meals??

chirpchirp · 19/05/2013 22:48

Don't sweat it qazxc. A one pound difference could be down to lots of things - by the sound of it the most likely being un-calibrated scales! You could have built muscle or be retaining water. Stay positive!

Mature - pretty much any grilled or steam fish with a pile of veg will be around 400-500. My dinners this week are, salmon with stuffed red peppers, chicken and chorizo salad, scicilian cod loin, omelettes, baked potatoes, and fishcakes with stir fried veg. Meal planning is the way forward! The amount of time I've just grabbed an m&s pizza on my way home or ordered a take away are shocking!
