Done mine, great idea for a thread this, something quick and easy to fit in! I think you're right about mixing the crunches up and in keeps it interesting!

Done my 50 squats, and 50 crunches (did the 10 of everything version if that makes sense) wondering how on earth I'll ever be able to do the full 250 squats - but will do anything for buns of steel!

Purples - reverse crunches are these bad boys

Yep, I'm in just what I need at the moment as making a concerted effort to loose (a lot) of weight now holiday in September has been booked.

Anyone brave enough to take measurements to see what effect all this effort has? Should I be measuring thigh, hips and the widest part (of my very wide) bum?

Good idea - will try and find a tape measure.....!

Thanks for the link catanddog, now I now my abdo muscles know what a reverse crunch is!

Well that's the first set of squats and crunches done, roll on tomorrow. Only tomorrow, I planning a trip to the loo before I begin, as after 25 squats I desperately needed the loo!

Not sure I'm brave enough for the tape measure business, but let me know which bit to measure and maybe, just maybe I'll get the tape measure out.

How long did it take everyone? Did mine after a power walk ( I usually run) so I was warmed up.

Less than ten mins tho 250 might take longer!!

Do ya have to warm up first? thats probly a silly question but did anyone?

I didn't [embarrassed] but I have been doing housework so I'm counting that as enough warm up!

50 squats and 50 crunches done. Ouch!

inquisitivemummy ask that question again tomorrow... If your aching, you will know!!

Likewise, not sure I did the squats properly.

The video I saw said you go low down so your thighs are as parallel to the floor as possible, I went as low as I could but I don't think I went down quite far enough, I'm hoping that will get easier as I get fitter.

But I do need a bit of advice..... the video said to hold the squat for 10 seconds pulling in your thighs and bum; but another video didn't mention holding position. Don't think I could do 10 seconds for each, especially when we get to 250 squats!!! What do people recommend??

Done mine. I was able to do them continually for the 50, is that how you're suppose to do it or break it down into sets of say 25 when you get into the big numbers?!

Report
catanddog · 19/03/2013 22:36

Think you are meant to do them continuously even in the bigger numbers (eeeekkkk)

I'm in, I'm 6 weeks out from open abdo surgery so finally allowed to do gentle exercise (this includes housework according to my surgeon, thanks for that) squats should be ok shouldn't they as they aren't stomach focused?

I can feel the muscles aching a little, so hopefully did something right yesterday!
So today it's 55 squats, and 55 crunches (11 normal, 11 oblique crunches to each side, 11 double crunches, and 11 reverse crunches).
It's all fun, fun, fun...

Hi PeachyPossum, Smile It's great you're feeling up to joining in, nothing like some like minded people for a bit of motivation. But you definitely need to be very careful if you've recently had abdo surgery. This builds up to 250 squats in a very short period of time. So if you do decide that squats are OK and want to join in, maybe you need to build up the number of squats at a much gentler pace??
