and so you should young lady, I am disappointed you didn't share in you.

Bessie123 · 26/03/2013 23:14

chippingin I am terrible at resisting chocolates in the evening

emuz you are definitely shrinking Grin

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 26/03/2013 23:14

EMUZ - you should do your 'now' photos in the same underwear as your 'before' photos - that would give an even better comparison!

EMUZ · 26/03/2013 23:19

Chipping - I had to bin the underwear Sad
The knicker elastic broke (classy) and my sports bra gave up the ghost (obv too much exercise) Grin

MrsHeggulePoirot · 27/03/2013 06:46

How you feeling today maggie? I only take 859g twice a day so in that does it could well be the metformin. Hope you enjoy at least one meal today.

sybilfaulty · 27/03/2013 06:48

Great photos EMUZ. I think I have the same bra in the "after" pics (and am sure have similar knickers to the before ones!

Another long day beckons then out for tapas tonight. Yum. I love the freedom to eat out without a. telling the world you are on a diet and b. worrying there will be nothing to eat. Will avoid the tortilla but enjoy everything else especially the sherry.

ScillyCow · 27/03/2013 07:03

Hiall!

So good to see the thread again in active convos.

I only lost 10lbs on bootcamp (well, I lost a stone in 7 weeks, then 4 lbs crept back on because I was cheating and eating too much chocolate).

ANyhoo back on the wagon good and proper and am shrinking fast again! I have lost 13lbs now - hoping for a stone off again by Saturday.

THen my next target is another stone by the end of May.

I have 5 stone to lose in total, so planning for that by next christmas!!

BlackAffronted · 27/03/2013 08:18

Lost the weight id gained after my carb-fest at the weekend. Back down to 26lbs lost :) Im hoping to break throughthe 2 stone lost barrier in the next week or 2.

Does anyone have a tasty pork tenderloin recipe?

BecauseImWorthIt · 27/03/2013 08:23

KKKKaty - you really need to complete the two weeks of Bootcamp for this to be come a more manageable, longer term WOE. This is because in the two weeks where you really cut down on carbohydrates you are switching your body from being carb-burning to being fat-burning. Once you have achieved this, you can be a little more relaxed in your eating, so things like chocolate/fruit/alcohol can all be re-introduced (although in moderate quantities!)

What happens when you re-introduce too many carbs too quickly is that you are replenishing your glycogen stores. This accounts for as much as 7lbs in weight. When you are a long term low carber you don't have the same glycogen stores (which is essentially your body's store of energy from sugar that it doesn't need immediately). If you don't have glycogen stored, and you aren't eating carbs (i.e. sugar) then your body is forced to use fat for fuel.

Yes, it isn't a terribly forgiving way of eating, unlike low calorie or low fat dieting, but it's a whole lot tastier and rewarding!

AuntieMaggie · 27/03/2013 09:57

Morning mrs

Sat here sipping a cup of tea. I was sick in the night so maybe I have a bug or something. Don't feel like food this morning at all. Going to drink plenty of water and go to the shops then see how I feel.

The metformin is working really well. I have no symptoms and no cysts on my ovaries. Its been increased with a view to me ttc later in the year. Apart from being overweight and the current nausea issue I feel better than I have in years. Amazing what sorting your hormones out can do Wink

Hope you're having a good day :)

heirtotheironthrone · 27/03/2013 11:29

Morning all, it's littlermissstan in my new guise (Game of Thrones starts again this weekend, eeeeeek!)

Still pushing on, have STS for three weeks so hoping the Whoosh Fairy may be in attendance shortly...

halfthesize · 27/03/2013 15:54

Hi All

Fab pics EMUZ and sillycow 10lbs is great, well done Grin

Black I slow roasted some pork tenderloin the other night with chilli garlic and mushrooms, then removed pork and added double cream to the juices to make a lovely sauce. Served with broccoli which also had chilli flakes and butter on it. Have to say the whole family loved it and super easy to do.

I have been top the gym again today and managed 20 mins on running machine at 8mph ran 2.8 miles. Also did lots of resistance/weights am determined to have better thighs and arms this summer, if we ever get oneHmm

BlackAffronted · 27/03/2013 17:05

Hmmm that sounds nice Half, think I'll do that!

MsRinky · 27/03/2013 17:30

Hello all.

I've been doing this a year and a day now, and as of today I've lost about 50lbs. I wanted to have lost 56 to make it a nice round four stone, but life got in the way and I have "found" a few pounds again.

The next month is horrendous - I have three parties and a wedding to go to, plus a weekend with my in-laws who bake and make their own pasta. Plus when I'm at home I'm working round the clock wrapping up my old horrible job before starting my lovely new three day a week job in May.

So I'm giving myself a bit of slack. I know I won't be able to stick with things well enough to lose anything over the next month. I still eat low carb most of the time - I'm not going back to stuffing in carbs for the hell of it - but I know I won't lose if I have birthday cake or wine even a couple of times a week, because it doesn't work like that for me - I have PCOS and could stand to lose another 50lbs, so it's not that I'm near my target, but I do have to be strict to lose.

So my personal target for the next month is to maintain, to do what I can when I can but to consolidate a bit and enjoy the family occasions I have coming up. So I probably won't be posting much.

But May 1st, Bootcamp or no Bootcamp I will be back and I ready to go at it hardcore. See you then lovely ladies x

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 27/03/2013 18:12

MrsRinky - I haven't seen you around in ages! Thanks for the update. Personally I'd say you've lost 4 stone Grin (I wouldn't let a couple of decent poos deny you that!!)

Have a lovely, but careful, April and look forward to seeing you in May :) [I think BIWI said she'd start the next one on the 29th of April]

teaandthorazine · 27/03/2013 18:25

Hello all

Interesting day today, carbwise. Had a 'tea and cake' thing at work today, at which it was made quite clear that it would be rude not to, iyswim! So, after two weeks of almost total sugar-free eating, I had a salted caramel brownie (Konditor & Cook's finest, how bad could it be??) Within 15 mins my stomach was twice its usual size and that heavy, bloated feeling was back with a vengeance. Whenever I doubt that sugar and flour has a negative effect on me, I'll remember that brownie.

It was, I'll admit, delicious, but the feeling afterwards? Just Say No, people, Just Say No.

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 27/03/2013 18:40

Tea - are you feeling a bit better now? Are you now feeling that no matter how 'rude it would be not to' you can refuse?? At least it was nice I suppose!

I'm just debating what to have for dinner - I'm getting a bit fed up of leeks, brocolli, courgettes, cauli, celeriac & mushrooms. This low carbing as a vegetarian can be a bit like hard work/boring. Though I'm sure that's me - I don't like cooking very much & I'm beyond exhausted tonight, so really, really can't be arsed. It's nice food - I'm just a bit fed up of the same things. I even thought I might treat myself to a meal out over easter as I can't have my favourite thing (Easter Egg with buttons) but I can't think of anywhere to go/anything nice to have that's low carb, vegetarian . Sigh.

NellVarnish · 27/03/2013 18:42

Grin At oxters and boak Mary - I love the Scottish language Grin

Going to catch up on the thread and see what you've all been eating ...

NellVarnish · 27/03/2013 18:52

EMUZ you are indeed shrinking!

Black! 26lbs?!? That is FABULASTIC! I think we both started at the same time and I've only lost 15 or 14 and put some on last week Hmm

NellVarnish · 27/03/2013 18:55

MsRinky four stone is amazing! Well done!

NellVarnish · 27/03/2013 18:57

Scilly you've done really well too - I just need to knuckle down and get on with it again and stop being such a greetin' faced auld whinger.

NellVarnish · 27/03/2013 19:02

BIWI although I'm back on the wagon, I'm definitely in on 29 April too - I need the constant threat of the Big Stick.

I'm wavering again though like I was at the beginning last time even though I know it works - I just want it to disappear overnight and I know that's not going to happen.

Not had much today to eat and feeling a bit meh - had buttered asparagus and Savoy cabbage leftovers for lunch and a bag of pork scratchings in the car on way home as a snack. Don't fancy anything for tea. I know that's not enough to eat.

Maybe I've got carb flu?

ScillyCow · 27/03/2013 19:11

Is another bootcamp starting at the end of APril?
I'm in!

teaandthorazine · 27/03/2013 19:27

Chipping, I do feel better now, thanks for asking Smile. I really will try not to let good manners get the better of me next time! Looking forward to my delicious dinner of caramelised onion burgers, with bacon, cheese and an avocado salad though now...

How about aubergine parmigiana if you're bored of green veg? I had a lovely aubergine and spinach gratin the other night at a veggie restaurant near me, 'twas lush.

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 27/03/2013 19:47

Tea that sounds like a lovely dinner :)

AP sounds good, as does the gratin! I wish we had a vege restaurant around here!!
