Hi All

Wanted to see if anyone is doing one of these or thinking about it. (If there's already an active thread, I missed it).

I have done LL before, lost three stone in 10 weeks and maintained wonderfully until DC's. Eldest is now four and a half and I think I have probably tried everything going, you name it, I've tried it (Paul McKenna, Paleo, 5:2, Dukan, Weight Watchers, etc).

I know that this works for me, although I understand other peoples objections.
I get paid on Friday and will be contacting a CDC to start on Monday. By the time DS1 is five in June, I intend to be pre DC weight again! Grin

Anyone up for it? Or can give me some support or advice? TIA.

Sammac that is a great loss! Over a stone - a whole stone! - in just over two weeks!

And 3 pound is pretty damn good for an individual loss. That is nearly 1.5kg - a magnum of champagne near as dammit - that you won't be carrying around anymore.

Respeck

sammac · 21/04/2013 20:30

Thanks so much. Encouragement always welcome!! Good luck to you and everyone else this week- stay strong Smile

milkybarsrus · 21/04/2013 21:39

Sammac thats a great loss 3lb! I am very jealous as I haven't lost that in the last week to 10 days. keep going, if you pick up a bag of potatoes that weigh that amount it will really motivate you to stick with it, well done!

thepatioislumpy · 22/04/2013 07:33

8lb in total. I'm really pleased as the w/e hasn't been quite as I had planned! So, Monday again, my motivation is at a record high for this point in a diet and I'm really positive. I told my mum on Sat and she was totally supportive which was a shock. I was expecting to be challenged as she doesn't really approve of this sort of diet (which is easy to say when you're a lifelong size 10!) but she was totally behind me.

I had a really (emotionally) tough pm yesterday so I decided to give myself a little of my normal comfort and chose a slice of ham and a small piece of cheese. Not VLCD I know, but 100% protein and 0% carbs so I felt if I was going to stray (and I really needed a little pick me up!) then they were the best choices. I stoically resisted the dcs chocolate which they were eating sat next to me, and the popcorn, and the pringles - so I think that even with that small stray I am proud of myself.

I did have a good sniff of the chocolate though! Blush

Good luck to all - may the scales be ever in your favour!

SconeInSixtySeconds · 22/04/2013 08:04

Feeling a bit deflated this am. Had a cheeky pre-weigh in and I have only lost 5lb. Deflated because I have stuck rigidly to this and my starting weight was particularly heffalumpish and I was hoping for more for such deprivation when I know that I can lo carb and get a similar weight loss the first week.

:(:(

thepatioislumpy · 22/04/2013 08:40

Stick with it scone. It'll come off next week x

StairsInTheNight · 22/04/2013 09:06

lost 9lbs this week! Just weighed and well pleased, especially considering i went mad on sat at chessington and had chicken and chips :-) back on it on Sunday tho. Well done to all who lost this week!

bbpants · 22/04/2013 09:11

Don't get deflated Scone - it'll almost certainly show up on next week's weigh in, and you'll see similar losses on other weeks as well.

Patio - that is great - well done! I'm so pleased you've had such a good week diet-wise, despite a tough weekend.

Sammac - you're doing great too - 15lb in 2.5 weeks is fantastic.

When things calm down, I seem to average about 3lb a week or so on this diet. Although that may seem low to some, I know that an 'ordinary' diet tends to see me losing approximately 1.5lb a week at best, so I'll take the deprivation for the faster lost. I also compared my own weight loss diet chart (I love an excel chart!) for this time on a vlcd with an old one I found when I was doing well on Slimming World. Month in, month out, I am losing weight twice as quick.

Scarey7 · 22/04/2013 19:58

Oh I have buggered up royally. So deflated. First week on Cambridge. On day 5 on my scales 5lb off the my son's birthday weekend and yes I drank and are what I liked. Weigh in today only nearly 2lb off. Felt like crying but knew I was going to have this weekend off but come on!!! So annoying so a failure yet again.

So guess what today I buggered it all up too when I got home. Just polished off 5 gins, 2 lagers, crackers with cheese, peanut butter, marmite, Choc yogurt, prawns, broccoli, Magnum, donor kebab and chips. Shall I just give up altogether Confused

StairsInTheNight · 22/04/2013 20:33

Oh scarey thats MY usual way! Just take it as a break from the diet, choose a good day and start again. I have to have a break in a week or so and im sure ill do just the same. Just pick it up again when your ready x

sammac · 22/04/2013 21:14

Scarey, one bad day isn't the end. It's just a bad day and we've all had one (or 2 or 3....) We're all in this together. Think of what you achieved in only 5 days and you can do it again. Chose a day when you will be ready, one that you can plan for and start again.

Remember you will see results quickly. Have a hug xx

RedRidingChops · 22/04/2013 22:56

Hi, I can join you all? I lost 4.5 stone on Slim and Save last year but gained a lot back- my own fault, no one to blame, no pregnancy or anything. Just food issues. I need need need to stop eating crap and just be normal. I've got a month's supply arriving tomorrow, to go with the packs I have left.

Haven't weighed in a long time, but my clothes are telling me I'm biiiiiig. I have three goals- to not shame my sister, as I'm her bridesmaid in October. And I'll be seeing some people I went away with, recently, at New Years. I was pretty much ignored, I felt literally like the elephant in the room! But my biggest goal is health, my joints are going. I'm 30 and won't see 50, way I'm going. Diabetes, being too fat to walk, it scares me.

So day 1 will be Weds, as I won't get the packs til after work tomorrow. Tomorrow is the grand throwing away of all the food! event. I live alone so I see it this way- any calorie that enters my flat, healthy, bad, whatever, will be consumed by me and me alone. The entire pack of butter? Eaten by me, over the course of however many days. So I need to get rid!

Phew. Have re-started a couple of times over the past year but it never lasts even a day. Need motivation! The £155 I spent on Sunday evening for the packs is the first bit. Don't want to waste that!

bbpants · 23/04/2013 07:26

Scarey - Sammac and Stairs are completely right - forget it now, pick a good day to restart when you are ready to focus on it, and try again.

Welcome RedRidingChops - come and join us!

StairsInTheNight · 23/04/2013 09:23

I worked out today that 3.5lbs a week is a stone a month off. Which is bloody good by anyones standards.

So don't feel discouraged if its not half a stone a week-that would be impossible!

3 months- 3 stone gone. By August we could all be 3st lighter, imagine!

milkybarsrus · 23/04/2013 09:46

Morning all, this is a message to all those who seem puzzled by no big weight loss....... the scales finally moved down for me today!!! woop woop, lost nothing last week, I kid you not, not a pound. But this week the scales dropped by 5lb which spread over 2 weeks may not seem loads, but it means that in just under 4 weeks I have lost a stone. And Scarey - remember what made you start on this type of diet in the first place, just forget the binge from the other day and start when you are ready, but don't lleave it too long. Good luck.

yawningbear · 23/04/2013 17:17

hello all, I have read all of this thread and it has given me the push I need, so thank you, sounds like you are all doing great and it's lovely that you are supporting each other so well. I think I'm going to try Slim and Save and just wondered if anyone who is doing this knows if I could do the basic plan, where you just use the packs plus some skimmed milk? I don't want to be tempted by the option of some food so I think packs only is the way to go but I don't think I could manage it without some tea/coffee with milk.

StairsInTheNight · 23/04/2013 18:06

i just use the packs (the simplicity plan) and add green veg. I dont know how milk affects ketosis though, have you had a look at the slim and save website? I cant believe skim milk would be that bad, tbh id probably just have it!

StairsInTheNight · 23/04/2013 18:20

So week 2 is feeling MUCH easier for me, what about you lot? Is this ketosis then?

I was absolutely obsessed over bread etc last week, this week I'm not really thinking about food. However... AF has just started so that might explain why I spent the week drooling at carbs. Grin

I order again tommorow- week 3 and I'm a bit sad that I'll have to have a break next weekend- it feels like its going really well and I'm woried I will find it hard to get back into it. Grr!

yawningbear · 23/04/2013 18:57

Thanks Stairs, I will have another look at the website, I think you can do skimmed milk on one of the plans that includes some food as well but I want to do 4 packs, and some milk which doesn't feature but I guess the main thing is staying in ketosis. I'm quite excited at the idea of all this but fearful that I won't manage more than a day.

sammac · 23/04/2013 19:09

Hi yawningbear and red ridingchops, it's good to know that you're not alone. I meet my fellow lighter lifers on a Saturday, but don't know them, and don't know anyone in RL who's doing this. It's great to pop here and see how everyone is doing and how they're feeling. We all have the same aim - to be healthier, fit our clothes better and get on with life.

Tomorrow is day 22 (yes I'm counting each day, I even have it on my calendar)I have to go away with work till Friday night and am hoping to get through it without too many questions asked by the others. Apparently no kettle in room, but there is a staff room with a kettle for my soups and porridge.

Well done milkybar, your perseverance paid off. So glad you kept going.

StairsInTheNight · 23/04/2013 19:30

Yawningbear- it really does gets better after the first 5 or so days. If you can get through the first week you are over the hard bit- I slipped up on day 6 but carried on on day 7. Its day 9 for me now- and its honestly so much easier.

Sammac, glad theres a kettle you can use- I felt an arse doing my shake at work in the open plan kitchen, but a man came up and started doing his just after me! I looked at lighter life last year but the hassle of the doctor sign off etc put e off a bit (pls I wasnt that keen on the consultant!) but it did sound great- the group thing I mean.

bbpants · 23/04/2013 19:32

Yawning bear - I checked the slim and save brochure - apparently milk is optional on the simplicity plan, so you're fine. It's essential for the lifestyle plan.

milkybarsrus · 23/04/2013 21:30

Hi yawningbear, I ordered a 28 day supply and went for the simplicity plan (4 packs per day), but if I feel like having a meal e.g tonight we had a simple barbi and I had chicken skewers and salad, washed down with coke zero rather than copious amounts of red wine and rolls etc with sausages and burgers. Most days I do 4 packs, but the odd day I will just have 3 and Real Food. I always check the ketostix as I am determined to stay in ketosis, it helps me keep an eye on what I am eating! I have soya milk in tea, as its unsweetened and very low carb. I don't measure it Hmm.

Scarey7 · 23/04/2013 23:22

Sammac, Stairs & Bbpants thanks so much for your support xx

I've successfully done a day today!! So pleased with myself. Smile

Back on track. Good luck to everyone else too. And even though my slip up lasted 3 binge filled days, I haven't given up on myself. We are worth it!!

SconeInSixtySeconds · 24/04/2013 07:05

Morning! Just had my first week weigh in and I have lost 7 pounds! Yay!

Loooong way to go but half a stone is a good start I think.
