Hi All

Wanted to see if anyone is doing one of these or thinking about it. (If there's already an active thread, I missed it).

I have done LL before, lost three stone in 10 weeks and maintained wonderfully until DC's. Eldest is now four and a half and I think I have probably tried everything going, you name it, I've tried it (Paul McKenna, Paleo, 5:2, Dukan, Weight Watchers, etc).

I know that this works for me, although I understand other peoples objections.
I get paid on Friday and will be contacting a CDC to start on Monday. By the time DS1 is five in June, I intend to be pre DC weight again! Grin

Anyone up for it? Or can give me some support or advice? TIA.

Morning all. My packs came yesterday so I'm starting today. Just weighed for the first time in ages and ages- 15st exact, phew not as bad as I feared. I'm 5'2 so yes it is huge as a huge thing BUT my biggest weight ever was 21st so at least I'm doing something before I get there. My lowest ever, ever weight was 11st 4lb which I was for exactly one day before I panicked and started binge eating back up to where I am now.

sammac · 24/04/2013 07:36

Scone, that's fantastic - what a great start= it will really keep you going, Your clothes will be feeling a bit slacker too.

Stairs, you don't need to go to a doc now as long as you have no medical conditions, so i was fine. LL do a magazine, which I find inspiring and read again and again. Pix of people before and obviously looking fab now. Their stories really are inspiring. I'm not a fan of chatty it-happened-to-me magazines, but I like the LL ones.

Scarey - yahoo- you did it- that's your strong willpower at work - now just take each day at a time. I marked my calendar up to 100 days and ticked each day off at first, but don't need to do it daily now as it's now my daily routine.

yawningbear · 24/04/2013 09:09

Morning all and thanks bbpants and milky for the info, it really isn't too clear on the website.

Having got some motivation from all of you I went ahead and ordered a 7day taster pack last night and had been thinking I would get straight on it once it arrives but now I'm not sure as it DP's 40th birthday coming up soon and we are having a big surprise meal out and then away for the weekend with friends and there is no way I will be able to stick to it.

I had been thinking it would be Ok to have a break and then go back on it but if I manage to get through the first week which sounds like the worst then it would be rubbish to have to start all again, so might have to plan to start after the birthday weekend. Keep thinking I could use this time to get into healthier eating habits -oh if only it was that easy eh?! Oh, I don't know, I'm itching to get started now!!

Well done on the 7ib loss Scone, how brilliant is that!! and keep going Scarey, really good that you are back on track.

Hope the first day is Ok Red, sounds like your goals are really good ones, I was thinking last night how it would feel to be light enough to be able to run, ok jog, gently somewhere without feeling my knee joints are going to give way and being a bridesmaid has got to be a huge incentive. Good luck!

Godlessdomestic · 24/04/2013 09:27

I've just ordered the s&s Taster pack and a weeks supply to use after that.. Am starting on Tuesday as I am out on Monday evening (will cut down on Monday in preparation). Am going to have a salad at work during the day so it's not too obvious. V excited, have about 5 stone to lose but am focusing on a stone at a time.

milkybarsrus · 24/04/2013 11:02

Scarey - well done for getting going again, it would have been so easy to feel that you've been beaten yet again, and then before you know it your not on any diet at all! Just keep focused now and think positive thoughts about yourself and how you just overcame the binge!
Yawningbear - when you say dh 40th birthday is soon - how soon? Just asking because when I try and put off dieting there is ALWAYS something coming up? And the weekend away - when? It may be possible to low carb and low cal that weekend and birthday? I'm only saying as if its in a months time for example, you could be a stone lighter Grin. If its this weekend then yes wait. Just trying to encourage thats all, I'm not trying to presume that everyones like me for letting events stop me getting started.

yawningbear · 24/04/2013 11:18

That is it exactly Milky, there is always going to be something, am feeling I need to go into hibernation for a while. The surprise meal is in two weeks on Friday and then we are away for the Saturday night. So if it hurries up and arrives I could get two weeks in, not quite a stone's worth but it would make a difference if I can do it. Am wishing I'd done express delivery now Grin.

oggsfrog · 25/04/2013 12:56

Room for another small large one?

Where to begin?

Serial yo-yo dieter who needs her hand holding and her ass kicking.

Have spent the last few months low-carbing and intermittent fasting which work really well for me but I have trouble sticking to them.

I've lost 3st in the past on the Cambridge Diet but put it all (and more) back on.

I've ordered a weeks supply of S&S and am hoping it will be delivered today.

Weighed myself on Monday and since then (until I can get started on S&S) I've been having 2 whey protein shakes during the day, chicken breast, courgette, onion and red pepper for evening meal and then an Options hot choc before bed.

So far so good; I'm 9lbs down already!
I know from experience that this is just my body shedding the water it's been holding onto, but it's just the motivation I need to get stuck in.

yawningbear · 25/04/2013 13:14

Afternoon all, well my s & s taster pack just arrived, I nearly laughed when the delivery person gave it to me because it was so light.

I have chosen my menu for tomorrow and it is taking up a couple of inches in the cupboard, oh dear I think this is going to be tough. The bars feel nice and solid though, I think I will like them and the shakes but I am really not too sure about the rest.

I get paid tomorrow though so am going to put another weeks order in then. I am going to start tomorrow and will just squeeze two weeks before DP'sbirthday celebrations but if the two weeks have gone well I will try and stick to the plan as much as possible Hmm

I got a message telling me what day it was going to arrive and then this morning one giving me the time within an hour which was brilliant. Hopefully yours will turn up too oggsfrog, are you planning on starting tomorrow if it does? How was your first day Red? Hope everyone else is doing well.

thepatioislumpy · 25/04/2013 20:07

Evening all. Things are going ok here. I've taken my eye off the ball this week, but I am totally focused again now. i'm not weighing in until Monday but tonight I took my measurements. I've created a spreadsheet (cos I'm a bit sad llike that!) and put in all the measurements on the S&S programme book list. Since I started 11 days ago I've lost a total of 6.75" which is amazing. That includes 0.5" from my neck, 1" from my bust, 1" from my waist, 1" from my hips as well as various other little bits here and there. I'm so pleased and its given me the oomph I needed to refocus.

I've also bought two jumpsuits in a size 12 (I'm currently a 16) and tried them both on tonight. I managed one easily as it is a jersey fabric but it looked awful so I can't wait to see it get better and better looking on me. The other is a non-stretch fabric so I only managed to get it over my bum and one arm through an armhole. This is the one I want to wear on a special night out in 7wks time. So my focus better not waver that often!

Off out for a run again in a min. Hope everyone is doing ok tonight.

bbpants · 26/04/2013 09:18

Weigh in day for me today, and I'm 4lb down - I'll take that!

Love the inch loss, Patio! I tried on some jeans that a thin friend gave to me this morning. No idea what size they are as they are trendy ones with a waist size, and I have only ever bought jeans from M&S and Evans!! However, although I couldn't get them up over my stomach/hip area, they got up to that point and were quite loose on my thighs!

Welcome Yawningbear, Oggsfrog, and Godlessdomestic (and anybody else I've missed!)

yawningbear · 26/04/2013 10:24

The inch loss does Sound brilliant Patio, and great motivation with the jump suits. I am going to dig out some size 12 jeans that currently don't go past my knees and hang them up for inspiration. And well done bbpants, 4 ibs sounds brilliant too.

I do wonder how I'm going to get through the weekend. Day one today and whilst I got the kids brekkies I unconsciously had stuffed a handful of Cheerios in my gob, managed to get most of them back out but a think a couple got through. Have since had the sweet porridge, which I ate very, very slowly and with a very small spoon. It was odd, almost like a white sauce, couldn't decide if it was Ok or really rotten. I scrapped the bowl clean of every last morsel though so can't have been too bad. Am going to try and keep busy with the kids over the weekend and try to not think about it all too much.

milkybarsrus · 26/04/2013 12:29

Morning all! TOM for me now and for a couple of days found I've got a bit nibbly when making food for the family Blush, so firm smack on the hand and concentrate on what I am doing and what I want to achieve. I just got back from a shopping trip, and to be honest I kept looking at my current size (18) and thought NO, I am not buying stuff to fit now, because in a months time I want to be a 16. So I bought socks instead and a handbag Grin. Anyway, well done all you newbies for biteing the bullet and just going for it, think of the sachets and bars as your friends and not the enemy. Its not forever that you will do this diet, just a short time for big losses. Just a tip for when I started 4 weeks ago, I bought a very small shallow soup bowl with tiny cute handles, a couple of extra beakers with lids and a small whisk, bottles of fizzy water and 24 x coke zero. I just find that if I eat out of someething smaller and half decent looking and have my water and coke in a large wine glass, it makes me feel a tiny bit better about what I am eating and drinking.

milkybarsrus · 26/04/2013 12:31

ps. If you find you have to eat something, then make sure its pure protein like chicken etc.

thepatioislumpy · 26/04/2013 12:39

Coke zero and Dr Pepper zero are on offer in Tesco until 30/04/13. Just sayin.

BoiledEggonLegs · 26/04/2013 12:42

Is there room for a 5'2" barrel? Grin

I'm on Sim n Save, just started on Monday although no stranger to diets. Have been fat thin fat thin and back to fat again this past two years and this ti e I want to stay thin!

No one in rl apart from dh knows so it'd be nice to have other people to chat to.

oggsfrog · 26/04/2013 13:12

I'm still waiting for the S&S packs to arrive but as of today I've lost 11lbs since Monday (doing my own version).

Feeling inspired to start when they do get here, although truth be told it won't be that different from what I've already been doing all week. I've already joined the forum over on S&S and signed up to the 'lose a stone in May' challenge thread in anticipation.

Well done on the inch loss Patio and the lbs loss BB. I will switch to weighing once a week when I actually start, and measure myself too, but for for now I like to weigh once a day.

Yawningbear, the first few days are always difficult when you start on something like this so try to keep positive and don't forget to drink plenty of water Smile

Godlessdomestic · 26/04/2013 13:57

Oh my, the mushroom pasta s&s is nice (shame it boiled over in the microwave..), love the choc truffa bar too. A friend of mine said that Aldi do nice flavoured fizzy water for 34p per bottle. I bought some without checking and now am gutted I can't have them as they have citric acid in them. Onwards and upwards though, am finding it pretty easy so far Smile

milkybarsrus · 26/04/2013 14:04

Hey boiledeggs, welcome! I am a 5ft 1" size 18 (was 20) barrel. At least you can say you have been thin in the last 2 years I was once upon a time about 20 years ago!! I don't tell anyone what diet I am doing as its none of there business, I don't ask about what they eat/don't eat. It's just that people are very vocal about VLCD, and I don't want to hear that I will put it all back on quickly etc etc, thats negative before I've even got there IMO. I just say I am cutting down and watching what I eat, most people just say 'oh'! In a very bored manner, which is fine by me Wink.

StairsInTheNight · 26/04/2013 18:00

Hello everyone, am impressed by all the motivational ideas! Sometimes i lay in bed visualising all the lovely clothes i can get out of my wardrobe and wear, for first time in 7 years! that really helps! Am also a 5ft barrel, but as of yesterday am down 12lbs, in 11 days!

sammac · 26/04/2013 18:54

Super results Stairs, very inspiring. Welcome to everyone joining in. I'm glad that we are all here for each other.

I survived my days away without too many questions asked. Kids didn't notice that I wasn't eating the same as them- I just said I was having soup. Last night was the hardest as they laid on cheese and wine for the staff- my favourites. was fine with resisting but they were just in front of me with everyone tucking in. At least I didn't have a sore head this morning!
Tomorrow is day 25 and weigh day. Fingers crossed.

ps dh and ds sitting tucking into fish suppers in other room..... and the smell is divine.
pps. I treated myself to 2 lovely linen dresses for the summer in size 14 which I spotted in a charity shop. Both really good makes- women serving told me "you've got an eye for quality" Haha I thought, maybe, but they don't fit YET...soon. Hung up and will tried on next month.

StairsInTheNight · 26/04/2013 19:50

I know it won't last at this rate sammac- but I have been big for so long, feel really happy to be getting a bit smaller. I expect I will settle down to 3/4lbs a week after this, if I can stick at it.

Fish supper! You have will of steel. Hope the dresses spur you on.Good luck for tomorrow- hoping you get a nice big loss.

Godless- my mushroom pasta boiled over too. And the porridge. Very sad when it's all you have to look forward to... am a bit bored of the meals now, tbh. I only really fancy the shakes/bars. Anyone else finding this?

oggsfrog · 26/04/2013 20:09

My packs have arrived! I'll start tomorrow.
I'm not expecting a huge result in the first week as I've already lost the first 11lbs this week. That's all the fluid retention gone, so I'm hoping for 3/4lbs my first week on S&S.

Looking forward to my hazelnut coffee in the morning.

thepatioislumpy · 27/04/2013 14:59

Yummy. Took the kids swimming then got them McDonald's on the way home. I even made one of them hold the chips to my nose to I could smell them but I didn't even have a nibble!

But I'm now sitting down to steamed broccoli and cauli with mushroom pasta. It tastes damn fine! Looking forward to Monday's weigh in. I can honestly say that in all the years I've been dieting, all the different diets I've been on, I have never once looked forward to weigh day!

RedRidingChops · 27/04/2013 15:24

Day 4, 2.06lb down. Not amazing (I know it's water weight!) but I'm down a notch on my belt so a bit of the bloat is gone. Just had a bag of rocket for lunch with a little chicken, and spray on salad dressing. Also got a bottle of Coke Zero! And some Ribena Plus blackcurrant which is citric-acid free.

For anyone who has trouble making kid's meals and not picking- I'm a nanny, I have to cook, I find the only way to get past the need to pick is to have my bar then. I slice it up very very thin and pop it on the surface as I cook. I can pick up little bits as I go, and having something sweet in my mouth helps not wanting the savoury things!

thepatioislumpy · 27/04/2013 15:40

My friend said that when she did LL she did that Red - she used to chop it up small and then freeze it. That way when she took it out of the freezer it took her ages to eat it! I keep meaning to try it but I only normally think about it when I want the bar. However, having thought of it now, I might give it a whirl!
