The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here

Three weeks to go!

How are you all doing?

Anyone Ubercamping this week?

Good luck. Still time to shed almost half a stone if you really stick to your knitting! Grin

Evening everyone...reporting in

Breakfast was a piece of cheese and a slice of smoke salmon.
Lunch was Toby Carvery of Beef, cauliflower and a spoonful of cabbage. I had one small roast potato and a teaspoon size bit if stuffing and a tab,Espinoza of gravy. Drank sparkling water.

Also had a bag if pork scratchings plus loads and loads of water.

I feel really really well so far so can't be in ketosis unless the dicky tummy and dashes to the loo count Blush

WillieWaggledagger · 26/02/2013 20:16

aw noel was it completely un-rescue-able?

littlermissstan, sorry about today, but good that you've had a good discussion with your dp. it's happened, you can't change that, but you sound positive about moving on which is the right thing to do as you know. try to be kind to yourself.

if you feel you can, write down or otherwise remember what happened today, as much as you can remember, your feelings, whether there were any triggers, how you feel now, what you discussed with your dp etc.

chances are you may feel like eating like that again, whether because you feel happy/sad, have a fuck-it moment, whatever. when/if that happens, try to think through what happened last time, your actions, feelings etc. you don't want to feel again like you do now if you can avoid it, I'm sure? use today's experience to your advantage, if that makes sense

timidviper · 26/02/2013 20:18

I am on my second day of a stricter bootcamp and am realising why I've struggled to lose the pounds post-Xmas, I've been eating rather too well and too much! It's all very well not being hungry, not measuring portions, etc but I think you can have too much of a good thing, well I can anyway! I can recommend to anyone who is STS or losing too slowly to do a day or two of back to basics to check if you are slipping back into carb-creep or portion-creep.

I can't believe that anybody likes cabbage, let alone children, it is vile! ...and don't get me started on sprouts (horrid little packages of evil imo) Vegetables are not my favourite thing, I am still vegetabley challenged Sad

FurryDogMother · 26/02/2013 20:26

Well, I stopped smoking yesterday (and have gone on to e-cigs). Surprisingly, after 40 years of smoking 20-30 a day, I'm finding it easy, even though DH is still doing it in the house. Yay for e-cigs (and boo to the ongoing EU directive which is going to limit their strength to about 1/4 that of a normal cig - makes no sense if they're trying to encourage people to give up). I'm happy to report absolutely no increase in appetite, desire to nibble, cravings for sweet stuff or anything, really.

One of my excuses reasons for not trying to stop smoking before was that I didn't want to sabotage my weight loss efforts. After 48 hours of the e-cigs, I am confident that it's not going to happen. If anything, I've eaten less today than before.

Ah yes, just remembered why I'm posting (OK, may be having some no cig mind-fog!) - I just wanted to say that the techniques (mind games?) I've learned to keep me on the straight and narrow as far as low carbing goes, also seem to work for smoking. ie - I can't have that, it is not a treat, it is bad for me, and/or that is an unhealthy choice, when there are alternatives, and/or I may not notice a change today, or tomorrow, but 6 months down the line I'll be able to look back and see how far I've come - and so on - there are more!

Going a bit woo now, but I think patience is the key to everything. I'm not going to wake up tomorrow at my goal weight, neither will my chest be gunk-free after all these years of smoking. It's like gardening - seeds take time to grow, but if you don't plant them in the first place, or insist on digging them up once a day to see how they're growing, you'll never get them to produce anything. You just have to follow the instructions, and you'll get the results. Eat low carb, the weight will come off, whether or not you weigh yourself. Stop smoking, and your breathing, and general health, will get better. Plant a seed and it will grow. Woo!

Apologies, I think I'm getting high on oxygen!

littlermissstan · 26/02/2013 20:26

Thanks Willie, that makes a lot of sense. And yes, ground almond dumplings may be a bigger crime :)

halfthesize · 26/02/2013 20:29

Eve ladies

Lavender, sorry you have had a shit time Sad

stan tomorrow is another day, draw a line underneath it and start a fresh.

VIPER am I strange I love both cabbage and sproutsHmm my DH does not get it, as thinks they are yuk!!

halfthesize · 26/02/2013 20:31

Well done Furry

Iamaslummymummy · 26/02/2013 20:35

I have an uber boot camp question: if dh was to do it, would he stick by the portion size or up it as he is a man. What would he up, protein or veg?

BlackAffronted · 26/02/2013 20:46

ohhh, littlermissstan, I have always said your name as little miss tan inside my head Blush I pictured you all petite & suntanned! Grin

timidviper · 26/02/2013 20:48

half and any other cabbage lovers - I was told years ago that there is a gene which controls something to do with taste meaning some people cannot taste the nasty, vile, bitter chemical in cabbage, sprouts, broccoli, etc where the more evolved superior beings amongst us can!! Grin There is something about it here

Furry Keep up the good work, giving up cigs will be worth it and you'll avoid all those little wrinkles around your lips that your lipstick bleeds into!

Noel I tried to make IPD prawn bhajis using ground almonds and they were a similar disaster to your dumplings. Mine just dissolved into the oil I was deep frying them in and I ended up with a pan of very oily prawn porridge!

BlackAffronted · 26/02/2013 20:50

Furrydog, my DH has just given up fags, using an e-cig instead. He is doing so well! Magical things. Well done you!

I love my vegetables, though sprouts are a bit yukky. My fridge is stuffed with fennel, asparagus, different kinds of cabbages, neeps, celeriac etc I love meat too, its like this woe was invented for me!

Doshusallie · 26/02/2013 21:02

Hello there yes, superior evolved person here, hi, love sprouts and cabbage me (no really I do!)

Good day today. Had 1-2-1 with new global boss in uk this week, and then account presentations to him this afternoon which went really well. Relieved.com.

Greek yoghurt as per
Big cheese and tuna salad with three boiled eggs
3 egg courgette and mushroom omelette (but could only eat half of it as was huge) with big green salad and loads of mayo (prompting dh to ask me if I would like some salad with my mayo, HILAIR!!!!! Hmm Grin)
1 gin and slimline, 2 heaped teaspoons of sainsbos crunchy peanut butter

NoelHeadbands · 26/02/2013 21:32

Oily prawn porridge sounds just lovely Grin

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 26/02/2013 21:37

Evening all - sorry so many of you are having such a rough time and hope things look up for you soon and don't be too hard on yourself if you wobble with the WOE with all the pressure you're under - look after yourselves, do it as best you can, and just get back on the wagon when you're ready Thanks

Laughing my head off at the dumpling fiasco - sorry Noel Grin - was the beef at all rescuable if you rinse/strain through colander? Hope so!

I absolutely love sprouts (DH thinks Hmm ) and cabbage (but oddly, given the gene theory, he loves cabbage too)

Am absolutely shattered today after Day 2 of Ubercamp - anyone else find it's been denting their energy levels? Also feeling a bit shivery so maybe just fighting off lurgy.

Agree with you timid re the portion sizes - think mine are always too big - Ubercamp is a bit of a shocker - am losing at a rate I'm happy with so hadn't been worrying too much just yet, but now thinking it will make maintenance harder if I get used to pigging myself. Managed not to have any snacks today, but didn't measure the veg/burger so probably still ate too much.

Liking the seeds, woo - go cheerleader Furry! And well done on the smoking.

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 26/02/2013 21:38

PS sprouts/cabbage reminds me - whoever (Noel again?) posted the recipe for sprout crisps, thank you - I thought it sounded DELISH!

NoelHeadbands · 26/02/2013 21:43

Choos I wouldn't touch the stew with a barge pole, but DH ate the job lot. He didn't dare not do, I think Grin

I also love sprouts but I can't take credit for the sprout crisps sadly, that wasn't me. I'm definitely going to try them though

spilttheteaagain · 26/02/2013 21:52

I LOVE cabbage and sprouts. Just sayin'

Fab breakfast this morning (from River Cottage Everyday), of broccoli, chorizo and soft hard boiled eggs.
Steam broccoli over boiling eggs whilst chorizo is frying in generous amount of oilive oil. Once broccoli is cooked stir it in with the chorizo and oil. Shell the eggs and tip everything in a big bowl. You can dunk the chorizoy broccoli in the softish egg yolks. Tis fab.

And it gave me an idea for my salad and trout lunch. Fried up some little bits of chorizo in lots of oil til crispy and used it as a hot flavoured dressing for the avocado and spinach. Top marks.

Sorry about dumpling and prawn porridge fiascos! Grin

Beef, turnip and spinach curry was a resounding success.

I struck gold in sainsburys tonight, 3 heads of broccoli at 29p each, 3 boxes of eggs, 24p each, 3 poncy fresh kippers off the deli for 31-34p each. Am having buttery kippers eggs and broccoli for breakfast tomorrow and I cannot wait Grin. Also got reduced bream, chicken legs and lettuce so very successful trip in low carb terms!

BIWI · 26/02/2013 22:09

I'm not sure why men would really need to up their portion sizes of the veg - although no problem with them increasing their portion sizes of meat/fish.

However, that said, the carb counts for ubercamp are pretty low, so as long as the increase isn't massive, then they should still remain low.

OP posts:
BIWI · 26/02/2013 22:09

And if you've been low carbing for a while, successfully, no reason why ubercamp should make you feel bad.

OP posts:
timidviper · 26/02/2013 22:16

I haven't felt bad but have just been Shock when I compare the portion sizes to what I normally eat!

prettybird · 26/02/2013 23:04

JakeBullet - not everyone goes through carb flu so you could already be in ketosis. That is, if you in practice started on Sunday (iirc) even if you only officially started on Monday.

I never suffered - but the rate I am losing means I must be in ketosis.

JakeBullet · 27/02/2013 06:34

Thanks for that prettybird ...am pretty sure I must be in ketosis as I weighed myself on Saturday (starting weight ) and last night I had to see what was happening and .....I am down 3lbsGrin ........can hardly believe it. After a lifetime of emotional eating I honestly have no appetite between meals and am coping...it's amazing.

MaryBeardfanclub · 27/02/2013 07:19

hi all
made meatloaf yesterday that someone kindly linked to - wow gorgeous, thanks

I am making notes of all the yummy recipes and snack ideas this thread is such a brilliant resource for what to eat

can i return the favour with this fish pie it was absolutely divine

and it contains a good idea for cheese sauce, I was wondering how to do this sans flour - you fry spring onions in butter, pour in lots of cream and bring to the boil, take off the heat and stir in loads of cheese. That is it. No faffing with burnt flour and what's more tastes loads better. I'm thinking of other things I can pour it on!

timid do you have the Low Carb Gourmet book?? there's a recipe in there for scalloped cabbage that may convert you - basically it's sliced cabbage in a baking dish, pour lots of cream on and bake for 1 hour - beyond delicious

Valdeeves · 27/02/2013 07:38

A strange day for me, feeling a bit low - sure things will pick up after a while.

Eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast.
Eggs and Parma ham for lunch.

No tea - I went to bed instead as just had one of those days.
