All welcome :) losing weight and being healthy through the power of motivation (particularly on Mondays)

Hello, how are you this Friday?

Think I overdid it yesterday as woke up this morning all hot and cold and sicky and shaky. Have had to ring work to say can't go in today . I'm putting it down to all the weights work and swimming I did yesterday - think it was too much for me to handle Confused . Does anyone else get anything like that when they overdo it?

InMySpareTime · 10/05/2013 07:32

I've had that, I find it's a bit better if I drink water and have a small snack just after exercising.
You could be dehydrated, try drinking water slowly and see if you feel better.

Reastie · 10/05/2013 07:47

It could be IMST . I think I've mentioned before that I drink ALOT every day (6 - 7 litres Shock ) but my body is used to this much and I may not have had enough for me yesterday, even though it's enough for normal people IYKWIM. School emails are all down so have had to leave loads of telephone messages about being off this morning and hoping they get through. Gah I feel pathetic - imagine, a morning off for exercising too vigorously!! On the plus side Hmm I think I may have lost 2 lbs this week

InMySpareTime · 10/05/2013 16:22

Feeling better yet Reastie?

Reastie · 10/05/2013 16:34

Much better than first thing thanks IMST but still weirdly wobbly

InMySpareTime · 10/05/2013 16:44

Take it easy for a day or two, eat properly and regularly, and remember to listen to your body. It will tell you when it's reached its limit!

Reastie · 10/05/2013 16:46

Thanks. I was planning to do a 80 min circuits class tomorrow, might have to hold out on that. Just waiting for DH to come home but no sympathies with him as he's the type to just carry on even if his leg is falling off and always makes me feel like I'm being pathetic.

Anyone got any nice week end plans? Weather here due to be a bit wet so not sure whether we'll do much.

InMySpareTime · 10/05/2013 19:04

We have absolutely nothing on the calendar, which makes a refreshing change! I'll most likely do a bit of sewing, sort out the household budget and bake some sourdough.
If the weather clears up at all we might go for a walk or cycle as a family.

StealthOfficialCrispTester · 10/05/2013 19:13

Hi everyone, reastie, hope you carry on improving!

Reastie · 12/05/2013 08:16

Hi stealth how are things going?

IMST love your 1950's housewife at heart comment. I think I'm the same Grin

Well, I had a proper meal out for the first time since we got married over 3 years ago (not counting baked potatoes at shopping centres!). We went to pizza express as they do gluten free pizzas Grin . I asked for mine with no added oil on the and holding back on the mozzarella, and, when eating it I took off half the cheese that was there on it to limit calorie/fat damage . Was very tempted to have a gluten free chocolate brownie for pud but resisted. So, not feeling saintly for the calorific meal out but feeling I made the best decisions I could.

Off to a castle gardens today for DD to run around and feed the ducks, hope the weather will hold out.

Oh ladies I forgot to tell you my embarrassing revelation!

Remember we discussed running and I said it was not for me? Well I've just found out you're not supposed to run as though your life depended on it... I was going from brisk walk to full pelt and wondering why I wasn't enjoying myself!!

Yay FilibearGrin! You're doing really well, the start of sustained weight loss is the hardest bit, as old habits die hard and everyday life tries to spoil your good intentions. Once your new habits are formed it's easier to stick to them, as your body gets used to smaller (actual portion sizeBlush) portions. Given you're doing so well, there's a good chance you'll stay the course and reach your goalSmile.

Reastie · 15/05/2013 06:30

Excellent Filibear Grin that's amazing

IMST meant to say, 8 stones? Shock that's so teeny tiny

Kato I chuckled at your running comment. Maybe you might enjoy it more now? I'm tempted to try a run jog this week (if the weather perks up). Haven't done one in a few years but think I could start building my strength up.

I'm wondering about stopping my gym membership in a couple of months. Past couple of months I've barely been as I've been doing mainly workout DVDs which are having really noticeable change. If I could keep that up (and try out new and different ones to keep things fresh) and start jogging I'd still get my exercises in every week alot cheaper (DD and I membership at the gym is £75 a month). But I do like it there and take DD to swimming lessons there so will need to find somewhere else to do this after the end of the term and in the summer when it's hot I'm going to want an air conditioned place aren't I.... Thing is, I used to do alot of great classes at the gym but I just can't do that anymore with DD/work etc etc, but I could when DD is at school in a couple of years, maybe I should rejoin then.....But I'm scared if I stop membership I'll put on loads of weight as that's always happened before..... Ho hum, I'm not sure what to do. that was really dull wasn't it
