All welcome :) losing weight and being healthy through the power of motivation (particularly on Mondays)

Morning everyone. Dcs 2 + 3 back in school today, ds1 back in college, now if only I could get dh out of the house I may find some peace!

Happy today as ds2 got into 1st choice primary school.

I've maintained this week which is no surprise. I blame wine and cheesy chips!

I don't suffer excess skin because my weight is very evenly spread so it's never obvious in one place iyswim.

IMST I hate exercise! I hated the gym, I won't run, swim, cycle etc. I do enjoy walking but seeing as I do that everyday it doesn't seem like exercise. I'm fairly active anyway so I don't think I'm too unfit and I can walk a marathon but I hate, hate exercise for its own sake. I get nothing from it I'm afraid. Even when I've made myself do it, I don't really get the buzz that other people do. Every now and again when I feel I should do more I convince myself I feel good afterwards but it's a lie and so not sustainable.

Just thought I'd put forward the other side of things.

KatoPotato · 15/04/2013 11:31

Oh gosh, it's DS's first day at nursery today and he's distraught! We're due at 1300 and I'm trying to stay super positive but he's breaking his heart! Please tell me this gets easier!!

TheOneWithTheHair · 15/04/2013 11:39

It does. Honestly.

I've had this for the first time with ds2 and he's a lot better than he was in September. Seek assurances from nursery that they will ring you if he's truly inconsolable.

Good luck Kato.

reastie · 15/04/2013 18:35

Hair I have to say I was like you re: exercise before I joined the gym about 5 years ago. I never thought I'd be a gym person, I joined only to use the pool! Great news re: school place btw

Kato poor you. I haven't gone through that yet but dread it. Hopefully things will get better. I'm sure more people with more experience will be more helpful.

Not a great day today Confused . Tbh I'm feeling a bit annoyed. I'm pretty much pre preg weight but half of my pre preg clothes don't fit. My bust and tummy is much more bulgier than it used to be . Glad I'm not the only one with wibbly tummy though. I also have crinkly underarms, inner thighs and boobs (lovely!) but it's the tummy that's the worst.

TheOneWithTheHair · 15/04/2013 18:42

reastie I've tried the gym. Twice, for a year at a time. It just depressed me. I need to be outside I think.

However in a bid to support dh who has started counting calories and trying to exercise I said I'd go for a run with him on Thursday morning. Shock I'm going to die aren't I? I haven't run more than 10metres since school.

InMySpareTime · 16/04/2013 06:38

I'm not a gym person, I have too many things to get done, to waste my energy doing exercise that doesn't have a spin-off purpose.
That said, I get a lot of exercise gardening, cycling/walking to places, shifting theatre set, dancing etc.
I haven't weighed yet, busy today too, I'll do it tomorrow.

InMySpareTime · 16/04/2013 16:47

Another pound down today, 9st 4lb. BMI is a whisker above healthy range. Next week I will be at my target weight.

TheOneWithTheHair · 16/04/2013 17:26

Well done IMST. What is your target?

Diet went out the window today on the George Forman grill demo. I know it's supposed to be reduced fat but I think I was so full eating little bits of stuff that I must have eaten loads. It was really hard to keep track.

I'm still dreading my run on Thursday. I wish I'd never said it now but I really want to support dh.

InMySpareTime · 16/04/2013 17:44

Target is 9st 2 or 3lb, BMI 24.9 (calculators disagree on exactly which weight gives that BMI).
After that I'll be toning up what I've got.
You'll be fine on the run. Even if you only go a short way and walk some it's something.

dawntigga · 16/04/2013 18:25

The skipping rope came today, I'm going to need a stronger bra!

JawsMomentTiggaxx

reastie · 16/04/2013 18:38

IMST well done! Target weight, what an achievement. 9lbs 4 is teeny tiny.

Hair re: run, can you, I don't know, jog on the spot at home or something in the next couple of days to build up ? It's great you're going to do it for DH and you'll be fine, just make sure you have a good sports bra

dawn so come on, how did the rope go?

Got 2 compliments on WL today [proud] and wore a complete pre preg ensemble to work. Finally feeling not so much of a fattie (although I'm nearly 2 stone until I'm health BMI). Did an hours cardio workout too and really sweated. 4 lbs to my good pre preg weight (currently at my not that good pre preg weight!) then think I might try see if I can get in to the 11 stones and/or a healthy BMI. One step at a time though.

TheOneWithTheHair · 16/04/2013 18:50

Well done dawntigga at least you've started. I got a really good sports bra from Debenhams. It really holds you in place.

reastie yay for your pre pregnancy outfit. Great news. You've met your first target now I think.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone by the way. I'll report back unless I'm dead or it's raining. I'm not going in the rain!!!

StealthOfficialCrispTester · 17/04/2013 07:38

Hi everyone
Well done reastie, sounds like you're making brilliant progress!
How was the run hair?
Imst well done on the weight loss and being so close to your target! I'm still so far off.
Dawn, would you recommend the skipping? I'm so tempted by skipping and or hula hooping

TheOneWithTheHair · 17/04/2013 08:29

Run is tomorrow. Hoping for a quiet day here. My house looks like a bomb has hit it and I really need to clean and tidy. Radio on so I can dance around a bit. :)

How is everyone else getting on?

StealthOfficialCrispTester · 17/04/2013 10:12

Well I'm back on the diet wagon.

reastie · 17/04/2013 13:45

Hair shall be thinking of you tomorrow. Hope the house cleaning is going OK. Our house looks a tip at the min too, but then it always seems to about 2 minutes after I've finished cleaning somehow Hmm . I wish we had one of those organised houses which always look so nice and tidy

Today is a good day. I have just won from mn an estee lauder goodie bag after being in their product test . It's really made my day. I wonder what will be in it Grin

stealth well done back on it. I've got a skipping rope somewhere, maybe we should all do a skipping challenge - ten minutes a day or something (well, that's realistically all I can manage anyway, don't know about the rest of you!)

TheOneWithTheHair · 17/04/2013 14:43

God you lot are killing me! Skipping challenge now. I'm going to get fit inspite of myself aren't I? Grin

eighty I think this is exactly the time you need to be looking for those NSVs. You may not be losing because with all your training you are swapping fat with muscle. I bet you are losing inches though. Check your clothes.

InMySpareTime · 17/04/2013 16:29

Eightytwenty, I'd second Hair's opinion. You'll definitely be more toned and the scales aren't the only measure of success. That's why NSVs are so important.
There's no way I'd manage a 5k run thoughShock.
I had an unexpected bike run today, I got home from the library to find Theonewiththehair on my doorstep, telling me that DD's chess club wasn't on this week, so she was waiting in the school office. Straight back on the bike, I was at school in under 5 minutes. I am now resting with a cup of tea, while my family tucks into the crisps we're product testing.

TheOneWithTheHair · 17/04/2013 17:03

I've just thought how mean I sounded. I'd have brought her with me IMST but dd only told me when we saw your ds on your drive.

InMySpareTime · 17/04/2013 17:46

You didn't sound mean, anyway DD said she stayed in the classroom to set up the chess boards so didn't realise it was off for a while.
I'm counting it as good exercise any excuse for a treat Wink

TheOneWithTheHair · 17/04/2013 21:58

Ok I know this sounds suspicious but I honest to god have just fallen out of my back door putting out some recycling. I have bruised legs and a swollen ankle. I have also grazed my hands and knees so feel like ds2. And, and, and I have sodding blood all over the knees of one of the only two pairs of jeans that fit!!

I'm going to have to see how my ankle is to run in the morning.

StealthOfficialCrispTester · 17/04/2013 22:49

Yes, you're right, it sounds suspicious :o
Seriously, Sorry to hear that, hope your ankle is better soon

Tobermory · 17/04/2013 23:18

Hi ladies,

Am going to sneak back on here. Had a wobbly few weeks diet wise, house full of poorliness, me DH and DCs and stopped logging onto MFP made for a not great time.
This week was a gain Sad but next week won't be [grrr]

I think it as reinforced how much I i still need MFp and how much it helps to keep me focused. I zumbad on Monday, she worked us super hard. Am going to shred tomorrow. Going out with friends on Saturday so have to build in some capacity. Grin

My positives... Lads of NSv in the last few days. People describing me as 'svelte' and 'slim'. Me..... Slim? Lovely compliments though.
