Cinnamon, I know how you feel. I was out for a run yesterday in the snow again. Thought we had seen the last of THAT! Got back and was soaked through.

Meso I try to keep under my calories each day, no way I could do 5:2. If I want a splurge I try to exercise and eat healthy for the rest of the day. I find the support from the ladies here absolutely brilliant, it really spurs me on and I couldn't have got this far without them :)

DoubleMum · 24/03/2013 10:25

Meso I'm the same name on MFP, feel free to add me, it's such a massive help to have support.
Still blooming snowing here. Kids have played out in it this morning and fed up with it now. Going a bit stir crazy, but I cooked pancakes this morning without eating any. Saving myself for a roast lamb dinner!

meso · 24/03/2013 11:06

Thanks for your replies, I am missmou on there, I can't seem to add anyone without using Facebook or emails! Am doing it on my phone tho, do I need to goon the main site?

How did you decide on your daily calorie goal? I really think I could get into this but just need a kick up the arse!!

DoubleMum · 24/03/2013 12:07

I've added you meso. Am not sure how to add on your phone but I think it's on this thread somewhere.
I am eating 20% below my TDEE.

meso · 24/03/2013 20:39

Woo - I now have a friend on MFP!! Thanks DoubleMum!

If anyone else wants to add me I could do with the inspiration and commeraderie (sp)

User name on MFP is missmou, please feel free to add me!

Starting properly tomorrow.... actually really excited

cinnamongreyhound · 24/03/2013 21:06

Hi meso, you got to add by email address and then type in the username on my app. I was confused until someone told me! I just put in my height weight age activity level and amount I wanted to lose each week and mfp gave me a calorie limit. I stick to it most days but if you go over it you can just eat less another day so it evens out over the week. I tend not to eat my exercise calories. I lost 5 1/2st in 8 months and have been maintaining for 8 months. I couldn't do 5:2 but I know it works well for lots. I mainly cut down portions and cut down on junk, my downfall I think is that as I've increased calories to maintenance I have increased junk Confused

Thanks cinnamon - I have found a way on the actual website to 'find members' which means I can add without email or facebook. (can I add you?)
Really don't want to involve Facebook in this journey!

cinnamongreyhound · 24/03/2013 22:04

Yes of course!

meso · 24/03/2013 22:07

Well done on all the losses Wink!

Not done too bad over the weekend but now the real hard work starts, can't afford to have excuses cos otherwise I look like a complete tit an silly person who didn't train.... Can't have that!!!

Keep going everyone!!! Xxxx

DoubleMum · 25/03/2013 08:35

I'm in awe of you Twinkle!

Chopstheduck · 25/03/2013 11:15

fab, twinkle183, good luck! How are you doing your training?

I went out this morning, probably shouldn't have gone to the woods today though. It was really flooded in places, was fun at first, jumping streams but I got bogged down and tired very quickly!

FeijoaVodkaAndCheezels · 25/03/2013 13:44

Marathon? 5k is plenty for me. Good luck.

That said I haven't been for a run in a week now Sad. A combination of DH suddenly working late several nights and my toddler just being a toddler has stopped me from getting out. Thank goodness for being able to jump about in the living room or I'd be reverting to blobdom.

Seeing lots of great results on MF this week. Great work every one x

meso · 25/03/2013 22:32

So, have over done the calories today, blaming the cold for the hot chocolate!! Was also going to go to zumba but couldn't face venturing out again after a Baltic stomp earlier!!

An very inspired by some of the weight losses you've all achieved! Amazing!

Tomorrow is a new day, still cold tho!!

Lissyfrog · 26/03/2013 02:13

Keep going with all the losses you all rock!!! Grin

Welcome to the newbies!!! Smile

DoubleMum · 26/03/2013 11:48

Well done Twinkle

cinnamongreyhound · 27/03/2013 09:48

What kind of distance are you able to run now twinkle183? I am running 6 miles Saturdays and between 3 and 5 week days and am thinking of doing a half marathon in July. Everyone I speak to seems to think I'll do it easily but wondering what sort of distance increases your doing over the next few months to prepare?

OP posts:
twinkle183 · 27/03/2013 10:29

Am doing 10k at weekends with 5k doing the week and adding a mile at the beginning of April to the weekend run capping it at 20 miles (thats what the book says) but am doing insanity as well!!! If your doing those runs already cinnamon your be able to run half marathon easily!!! Are you doing anything other than running three times a week? I find running all the time harsh on the joints... So going spinning and swimming every now and then to give them a rest!!! X you should bite the bullet and do the marathon with me... Lol xxxWink

cinnamongreyhound · 27/03/2013 11:55

Are you adding a mile a week? I go to training with my club once or twice a week, which is usually intervals and then run another twice (total 15-18 miles a week at the moment). I only swim with my boys which doesn't usually involve a large amount of exercise! I love running and one of the main reasons I started was the freeness of it, at my local leisure centre classes are £5.50 a time and swimming is almost £5 for an adult too :( I can honestly say I will NEVER run a marathon, it's only for the crazies Wink

OP posts:
twinkle183 · 27/03/2013 14:28

Thanks cinnamon!! I know I am completely crazing... Yeah gonna try and add a mile a week but starting the middle of April!! Not gonna run more than 20 miles though on one run cos I don't want to burn my legs out... I do it on the treadmill at home but need to get out but it's hard with kiddies.... When your dh works away!!! Hmm

I am really enjoying all the exercise although I am exhausted afterwards can't wait til that passes, I find it helps to do it with someone or have music blaring in my ears... Lol the marathon is not until 29th Sept so plenty of time to train and build up to it.. But they do say that marathon is 50% mental battle and 50% fitness so just hoping I have the right stuff for the job!! Lol x Grin

Samnella · 28/03/2013 19:18

Hi,

I have rejoined MFP after failing at various weight loss schemes. I am trying to lose 2lbs a week but when I set my calories to 1200 it gives me a weight loss of 1.2lbs. I have put sedentary down as my activity level as I have an office job which requires little movement 4 days a week 8.30-4.30 but after that I am running about after the DCs getting them ready for bed and all that so I imagine my activity level is a bit higher. I really need to lose this weight as I have a fitting for a bridesmaid dress 10 weeks today. I really wan tot lose 2 stone in that time. Possible??

I have started badly as 350 cals over but still only 1550 cals so could be worse.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2013 19:57

What other exercise are you doing Samella? 2st in 10 weeks would be close to 3lb a week wouldn't it? I think setting your targets high can lead to disappointment and you fallin off the wagon. We will be here for support and encouragement, good luck with your journey. I'm sure you will be a beautiful bridesmaid how ever much you lose :)

Samnella · 28/03/2013 22:35

I am going to do a couple of exercise DVDs and incorporate more exercise. I am always so tired that's half of my problem. I must shift this weight though.
