Can't link to this from old thread but thought I'd start a new one as the old one was getting full and kept crashing my kindle.

Evening Chiefs.
Dinky you are not alone, Tea and I are still doing Jillian with you. I've been doing it since 1st Jan and it has really worked for me. I'm amazed at how effective it's been. I did Ripped in 30 for the first time tonight. I thought it was half way between level 2 and 3 of shred for toughness, but more enjoyable. So, I'm going to have a break from shred and do ripped for a while. Of course, as someone on another thread mentioned, there is also extreme shred if you really want a challenge. Shock Grin

GeekLove · 04/02/2013 22:28

Hello!
Do I win a prize for the biggest overeating!?
It was an authentic mediaval banquet on Saturday to celebrate a 30th Anniversery though!
Strangely MFP doesn't have an entry for cockatrice. Or nettles in cream. Also forgot my keys so no Shred tonight. Will make up for it with L3 RI30 and L3 KB alternating from tomorrow.
Has anyone done L4 RI30 here yet? What am I letting myself in for?

RandallPinkFloyd · 04/02/2013 23:01

In all honesty I can't see how it can help you lose weight, it think it's only useful for toning really. It's the toning I want thought so I am a bit pissed off but in the end it was just making me feel really bad about myself (don't need any help there as it is!).

The fact that I still can't get through that first cardio bit was making me feel like a right fat old heifer. The final straw came on Friday, I was fighting tears all the way through, it just made me feel like shit.

I'm on a bit of a downer right now anyway, I don't want the diet to turn into something negative too.

I'm going to stick with the calorie counting side of it for now and maybe have another try when I'm not so fat.

BsshBossh · 04/02/2013 23:33

Aw Randall (((big hugs))). Go back to walking and the elliptical trainer or similar. Nothing's worth tears!

spamm · 05/02/2013 00:10

Randall - not worth the tears. You will find the right thing - I really enjoy the elliptical and I am going to mix it up with the Shred.

You will be getting better - you just do not know it yet. I remember how I felt the first time I went to the gym and worked with my trainer. I nearly died - and now I can do it. It's not easy, it hurts, but I am not wishing for death every minute, and I can walk the next day. Soon I will be even better.

Lizzylou · 05/02/2013 07:25

Randall, I am on total agreement, stop shredding if it makes you feel bad. You have done so so well, step away from Jillian for a while.
Geek ripped level 4 is my favourite, I find it easier than level 2. It is challenging but not too bad.
I am pondering this 5/2 shizzle. May have a go.

Tabbykat · 05/02/2013 07:36

Aww, chin up Randall - if Shred not working out, there's plenty of other stuff to try. You could do the zumba and then just some extra sit-up crunches etc to help with toning the middle if necessary. Or take up hula -hooping! I do 15 mins after shredding by just alternating each side with songs on MTV - think it might be helping tone me a bit and it really isn't difficult - expecially now I've managed to stop it riding up and bruising my nipples...

DoubleMum · 05/02/2013 07:51

Ouch Tabby!
Randall definitely break it off with Jillian. She's not worth the heartache. You'll find something else which is better for you.
Stayed the same this week which I'm fine with considering I had a weekend away. Had better lose this time next week though.

nilbyname · 05/02/2013 08:47

rabdall put Jillian in the bin, you and her are not a good match. So what!? There are a bazillion other DVDS to kill ourselves with. I know it is tres out of fashion, but friends of mine have had lots of fun and results with shhh...Davina McColls DVDS!

I have not shredded in 4 days, might go back to it tonight, but still full of the cold.

I am switching to 5-2 now. Today is my 1st fast day.

I have nuts, tomatoes, i have some rocket and salmon for later and lots of hot herbal teas..... Already feel starvations as have not had my porridge Sad

RandallPinkFloyd · 05/02/2013 09:06

Aw, thank you, feel bad for being such as wuss now Blush

I'm going to set the wii up tonight and have a go at some Zumba. I love dancing (when no ones watching obv!) so hopefully that will be more fun.

Nuts, tomatoes, rocket and salmon? I'm hungry just reading about that bounteous feast. 5:2 is definitely not for me!

WiseKneeHair · 05/02/2013 09:21

Randall I agree with what everyone else has said. I love shred, but loathe spinning with a vengeance, yet others on here love it. There is the right exercise out there for you, Zumba sounds great. If you love dancing that may well be the one for you. You know what? If you hate everything else, then going for a brisk walk is great. If you do that everyday, you'll see results.
Chin up, Chief, you can do it.
Double well done on your maintain.
I have lost 1.6lbs today, so very pleased.
I've even been googling couch to 5k and parkruns, but think that'll have to wait until the weather is better.

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 05/02/2013 09:24

Good luck nilby Herbal tea will be your friend.

Randall I hadn't realised. Yes. Dump Jillian. No exercise is worth that at all. I hope you find something that makes you feel fab about doing it and gives you results. What type of thing did you like doing at school? Is it the diet that's getting you down or RL?

Geek Blush I have no idea what those letter numbers mean.

On a non-fast day. But not really hungry Sad

Hopefully a game of hockey this evening will sort that out. I'm quite excited as the half stone off and increased fitness levels should mean I'm not the old wheezy fecker on the back 25. I can be the old wheezy fecker who makes it to front 25 five minutes too late.

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 05/02/2013 09:25

Great stuff WKH - that's brill. Dead pleased for you

DoubleMum · 05/02/2013 09:34

Well done Wise, great loss.
I think I'd better go back to my prunes this week ...

dinkydoos · 05/02/2013 09:46

Well done wise and glad still have you and others shredding.
randall don't get upset, doing 9 straight days is an achievement in anyone's book! And for the record that first cardio section I find the worst out of any of her stuff, I actually think its more to do with the fact that you aren't really warmed up enough yet, as I find the later cardio bits easier than that. Anyway, loads of people I know have had great results from zumba so would def give that a go.
Have a good day all

RandallPinkFloyd · 05/02/2013 09:47

Just crappy RL stuff. I'm actually really pleased with myself about the diet. I'm quite enjoying the challenge of the calorie counting weirdly.

I used to dance when I was younger so hopefully my sense of rhythm hasn't been lost forever! I do a fair bit of walking too because I have a dog. I'll just have to hope that's enough for now.

Well done to the losers and heroic maintainers!

DoubleMum · 05/02/2013 10:00

Need to share - not only are my jeans looser, but I can do up my coat which ahem I had stopped being able to do up.

bleedingheart · 05/02/2013 10:22

I think noticing it in the fit of your clothes is one of the best motivators!
I like dancing, I stick one of the music channels on (that young people's music is a lot faster than the stuff on my iPod!) and DS2 and I go crazy for 30mins, I throw in a few moves from fitness DVDs and ALWAYS make sure the blind is closed!

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 05/02/2013 10:35

Randall I'm glad, that despite RL stuff, you're getting satisfaction from the diet. If you've got shite going on then being kind to yourself and booting Jillian as far as you can out of the window is the thing. Could you get yourself to a dance thingy?

Yey to looser clothes. I can ahem bend over in my tight jeans with out the zip undoing.

Lizzylou · 05/02/2013 10:36

Randall, Zumba is fab and makes me smile everytime I do it. Great for your waist and stomach.

I think in order for you to make exercise a regular thing and a habit, you need to enjoy it. It shouldn't be something that makes you cry and feel bad about yourself! I also cannot recommend Just Dance for the Wii highly enough if you like dance, it is fun and you do work up a sweat.

Tea, well done you, that is amazing. Honestly, the parkrun was brill, lots of people at all levels, was a great atmosphere. I really enjoyed it (and the courses all tend to be FLAT!).

yay for loser clothes Double.

BsshBossh · 05/02/2013 10:57

Well done to all the losers, maintainers and loose-clothesers Grin.

RandallPinkFloyd · 05/02/2013 11:11

Just remembered I've got Just Dance as well. Variety is definitely going to be the key for me I think.

I can't do classes or anything like that as I'm an LP unfortunately. I find it really hard to motivate myself to do stuff in the evenings. I know it makes me sound lazy but evenings are the only time I get a minute to myself so by the time I've put DS to bed, tidied round and had a bath I just want to have some quiet time and wind down.

I don't have any babysitters apart from stbXh and he only has DS when I'm in work so I literally don't get a second to myself.

Roar @ stout and sturdy little dancer Grin

And big cheers for lose clothing!

buzzybuzzybeeshoes · 05/02/2013 11:35

We need to start thinking more creatively about exercise. Maybe if MFP added the following:

  • Walk/run, 5 minutes late for school pace, light sweat, carrying packed lunch or 2lb assorted junk for modelling
  • Shouting at dawdling child, medium exasperation/moderate fury
  • Dancing, THE DANCE from In The Night Garden, with toddler and 1-2 stuffed animals

we might clock up a few more cals? Wink

BsshBossh · 05/02/2013 11:41

buzzy that made me LOL

DoubleMum · 05/02/2013 11:42

How about got up from computer chair every 10 minutes to make sure DS's new fish are alive? That's got to be worth 20 calories or so, surely?
