Sorry to be a bit late this morning - no doubt you're all chomping at the bit to declare all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Can I join in? I've been lurking for a couple of days and you've inspired me to take the plunge.

This is day 3 for me - bit of a hiccup at the start of the year but better late than never.

I felt very 'picky' the first day or so (when you're not really hungry but want to eat something) and today I have diarrhoea (sorry for TMI) but hopefully I'll settle down in a couple of days.

Charming way to introduce myself :o

Happy birthday to the birthday bootcampers :)

slatternlymother · 17/01/2013 19:57

Or is that a bit cheeky? I'd rather not have things in front of me I can't eat.

slatternlymother · 17/01/2013 19:59

Welcome kiriwawa Smile don't worry, I had a funny poo today as well

MrsHerculePoirot · 17/01/2013 20:18

Welcome kiriwawa people tend to report extreme toilet changes one way or the other and it does settle after a few days. I was also the looser end of the scale to say te least!

DH has just cooked amazing sprouts - I have never been the biggest fan but had a massive portion of these tonight! He cooked the sprouts al dente (steamed them). Chopped up bacon and fried it (lardons or pancetta would work well here) when it was nearly done added a teaspoon of easy garlic. Finished frying it, then cut sprouts in half added them to frying pan for a few minutes then added some double cream and kept cooking it for a few minutes and voila! Delish.

Lavenderhoney · 17/01/2013 20:29

Fell off the wagon with a few glasses of white wine spritzers. Feel really crap now after all the hard work. And very cross with myself. No excuse really. Just felt very low, worn out and wanted to relax. A nice bath would have been better. I sabotage mysef by not even thinking of an alternative when I am like that.

Oh well, back to it tomorrow. I am my own best friend and my own worst enemy.

Yama · 17/01/2013 20:32

Welcome Kiriwawa and thanks Slatternly.

Kiriwawa - I was the other way at first but touchwood since I've been putting olive oil on my salad at lunch I'm nice and regular. Wink

Thanks BIWI. I'll think about going although if I'm going to afford it I need to stay off the Style and Beauty threads because I'm spending too much money being on there!

BigStickBIWI · 17/01/2013 20:40

It's great terrible when you have to buy a new wardrobe, isn't it? Wink

Evening all. Briffa thing sounds really interesting. Just checking in:

B: 2 eggs, butter
L: Omelette with cheese, ham, a couple of plum tomatoes and a big old green salad
D: Pork belly with amazing cracking (yay) and veg dauphinoise (swede, leek and courgette). Twas yum.

So. I need to tell you about a planned cheat. It is my birthday tomorrow and I will have to drink wine. Sorry. But I will be good in every other way and I promise that that will be all. If the scales fail me on Monday I shall know why. The good news is that both DH and I are enjoying this WOE and have agreed that there's no need for us to slow down really for bootcamp light (although I'm dying for some fruit to be honest). So, I think we'll be keeping up for a while and therefore hopefully my wine fail won't matter in the long term.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 17/01/2013 21:01

Been for a run, twas fffrizzzzin, low carb still going well, permanently in ketosis, but weight loss stalled. I know this happens. But I feel so much better, although I know I need to drink more water.

BigStickBIWI · 17/01/2013 21:04

Top tip re crackling - sometimes, for no apparent reason, you end up with soggy skin rather than crackling. I've never had much joy taking the skin off the joint and roasting or grilling it separately. But I have discovered that you can get it to crackle in the microwave.

Take the skin off the joint and put onto a microwaveable plate, on top of some kitchen paper. Cover with more kitchen paper and heat on high in burst of 30 seconds. It will make a lot of noise, and it will puff up. Don't over do it. It will still seem soft, but if you take it out of the microwave and leave it for a minute or so, it will go hard and crispy.

Just jumping in to say happy birthday to the birthday ladies, welcome to the newcomers, and yes biwi you must give Dr John a massive hug smoochies if he's hot from us all and let him know the low carb revolution has started!

captainmummy · 17/01/2013 21:31

Breakfast(don't normally but was hungry thsi morning)2 egg ommelette
lunch - leftover red cabbage (added a bit of cream cheeese and reheated) with salad and cheese and mayo
dinner pork chop with mashed swede and creamed leeks.

Am trying to reduce the dairy but am apparently not succeeding! Just had coffee with cream too...

littlermissstan · 17/01/2013 21:38

Hello all, checking in :) Today: breakfast - 2 hard boiled eggs, lunch - salad with green olives, chopped crispy bacon and mayo, dinner - beef meatballs with spicy sauce and buttered courgette 'spaghetti'. 3 cups of tea and lots of water. Then fancied something puddingy so had a tiny bit of whipped cream with vanilla extract as recommended in IDP. I really feel into the swing of this now.

Went to supermarket tonight too so all stocked up with more LC goodies. There were hardly any cauliflowers or swedes left and no full fat Total so I suspect you all of shopping in my local Asda [glares suspiciously]

I'd love to go to that Briffa talk but a bit spendy for my current state - BIWI you must take detailed notes and pass them on to us all :) Also am on a hen do the night before so possibly not the best state to turn up in...

catinboots · 17/01/2013 21:49

Is red cabbage ok then?

Not too carby?

catinboots · 17/01/2013 21:51

When I do pork I dry the skin with a hair dryer before cooking to get it really crispy

BigStickBIWI · 17/01/2013 22:06

3.7g carbs per 100g for red cabbage, catinboots

helpingout · 17/01/2013 22:07

Evening everyone!

B - A tub of natural yoghurt.
L - Peppered mackerel with spinach and mayo
D - a ham joint boiled then roasted, served with creamed leek and green
cabbage. Rest of family had roasties and I had none!

Got some ham and creamed leeks for lunch tomorrow. Eating more fat this week and not feeling as hungry as last week.

Bessie123 · 17/01/2013 22:24

This should maybe be on the question thread bu I want to know if any of you has experienced the same thing, or if I am a bit strange...

So, I have been getting heavy, tender boobs, have been feeling tired, moody, spaced out and a bit tearful and have had a migraine today. Anyone else feeling like this? I wondered if it was something to do with oestrogen, I dunno. I miscarried at 12 weeks at Christmas so maybe my hormones need to settle down, I guess it could be that.

JustasmallGless · 17/01/2013 22:28

Bessie- sorry for your loss.
I found my periods were a lot heavier and I was more tearful in first two cycles but then I settled down.
I have the mirena coil so barely get a bleed again.

Are you due AF around now?

NoelHeadbands · 17/01/2013 22:31

Well the not wishing for snow went well Hmm

B - ham and cheese Thing
L - err nowt, cos breakfast was a bit let
T - gammon, fried egg and low carb bubble and squeak

Bessie I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage- it can take a while for your hormones to get back in kilter, so take it real easy x
