I had my hypno gastric band 'fitted' by Paul McKenna last night...

...so far so good! Admittedly its not even 11am yet, but I havent eaten my snacks which are sitting on my desk and not even tempting me! Normally I don't allow myself anything till 10am, then I pounce!

I am doing this in conjunction with weightwatchers, which Paul McKenna would not approve of, since he despises 'diet clubs' (boy does this come through loud and clear in his book).

However since I don't know the man personally, and I feel I need the WW sessions for support, I am carrying on with pro- pointing and hoping that my gastric band will provide the backup I need to not binge and eat more than my body needs.

I've been (back) on weightwatchers for several months now and failed miserably because I am both a compulsive eater and a (hopefully) reformed bulimic.

I'd like to think this will help me - and I'm willing to try it because I am now as heavy as I was just after I gave birth to DS2 3 years ago (my heaviest, unless you count when I was 40 weeks pg!)

If anyone is interested I will report back :)

Lou - how weird about the chocolates! Just like me and the cake!

Good luck, bulshit, I hope it works for you. Year before last I lost 4 stones low-carbing but just put it all back on. I didn't find it sustainable as I was denying myself and as soon as I started eating them again it was a slippery slope. I'm hoping this will change my eating habits for life, as I can have whatever I want.

bulshit · 04/02/2013 08:41

Good morning every one I installed my hypnotic gastric band this morning and I hope that it works. I am not sure if I installed it properly, however I am feeling positive.

I started the preparation 2 weeks ago but did not religiously followed the four rules. I did sometimes and I lost a few ounces. I did however walked the 20mins per day, I only missed one day out of 14. I had quite a bit of alcohol through because it was my birthday, however that's over and I am only looking forward.

I am hoping for the best. Will keep you all updated regularly on how I am doing, even though I am going to weigh once per month. But in regards to how much I have cut down, clothes getting looser, getting full quicker Tec. Good luck everyone.xxx

bulshit · 04/02/2013 09:03

HI AnnieEytMeyer I wish you luck as well. I just want to eat without having to weigh my food or worry about . As I read no one need to know you are following in program because you are normal.

I love clothes and really really enjoy shopping, which means that I have loads of new and wonderful outfit to wear when I get slim.

A few weeks ago I was talking to my daughter and she made a valid point and good advice. She said not to worry about what you weigh but while the size clothes you want to fit, fit comfortable then you will feel better as well as mire confident.

I would like to be a comfortable size 10_12, and that would really suit me.

Talk soon xx

thats weird about the cake and chocolate but the same thing happened to me with some apple pie yesterday.
I cut a small piece for myself yesterday, I ate 2 mouthfuls and thought that it didn't really taste that nice so I left it!

I ate a homemade biscuit earlier on in the day which was really nice but I guess I must have been genuinely hungry then but not when I was eating pie after dinner.

I am starting to feel positive about this now and have listened to the cd 3 times before I felt it working. I think I'll listen to it once a week for a while.
What does everyone else do?

DelGirl · 04/02/2013 10:39

I bought the book, read it, listened to the cd many times, watched the havening technique and it isn't working whhhaaaaahhhhh. I was so enthusiastic as I had hypnotherapy to give up smoking and i'm still not 12 years on which I know is down to just that as something seems to kick in when I feel the very occasional temptation!

I haven't managed to stay awake through the cd though although I do usually wake up at the end but I think that is to do with the increasing volume as opposed to anything else.

Shall I start from the beginning again, will I have desensitised Sad I am the worlds worst emotional eater, stress just has me reaching for proverbial biscuit tin. Am so heavy and I really don't want to be. Help!!!!!

TheMaskedHorror · 04/02/2013 10:44

Delgirl I thought it wasn't working for me either but I do consciously try to follow the rules and even if I feel like I'm not because I'm picking at something, I still follow the chew 20 times rule.

Now after doing that and listening to cd 3 times, I feel like its working.

My porridge this morning tasted like the most delicious thing ever!

SMTT01 · 04/02/2013 11:18

Hi ladies can I join you, I read the book on Friday and have been following his 4 golden rules since then I had the band installed yesterday, can't believe it only ate 1/3 of my dinner and this is unheard of. I have lost 2lb over the weekend, again this is unheard of as I always eat way too much on the weekends and always gain from my weigh in day of Friday. My biggest problem is crisps and choc, and since doing this I have had no cravings for either, yes it is early days, but its 11.20am and I haven't even felt hungry enough to have breakfast. Paul McKenna is truly a miracle worker.

DelGirl · 04/02/2013 11:36

well perhaps I will keep trying but am out for lunch today, my birthday tomorrow plus party on Sat so will read the book again later and give it another go.

Loumumoffour · 04/02/2013 14:20

I had a craving for chocolate just now and this time they didn't taste bitter, I presume it's because I genuinely needed that sugar!!??
I'm not hungry at breakfast.
Having another veg stir fry this evening!!!! I have a craving for them at the moment, and sugar snap peas and rocket leaves!!!!! I'm now drinking bottles of sparkling water instead of coke and its yummy, there's a sort of sweetness from the bubbles. It's great!!!

TheMaskedHorror · 04/02/2013 14:26

I just had my lunch now. Normally I'd be clock watching and eating lunch by 12.30.

Lunch was some leftover veg from yesterdays dinner with a mexican bean burger (Tesco)

I've cooked a cauliflower curry and a chicken curry (both tomato based) so I'm looking forward to some of that with a naan bread later for dinner.

Might have a cup of tea and a h/m biscuit (can't believe I can stop at 1!!) later this afternoon if I feel hungry (I'm bfing so likely)

AnneEyhtMeyer · 04/02/2013 16:41

Was out all day today, so stopped for lunch and ordered a panini and thought this might cause me to eat too much, but I found myself only eating half, and even then leaving a lot of the bread in the half I ate.

I can't believe I'm just not hungry all the time.

Once again I have leftovers for dinner tonight, as I still have half of last night's dinner in the fridge!

chinhealer · 04/02/2013 16:51

@AnneEyhtMeyer - i agree - leftovers are becoming very common indeed these days ! I am trying to resist the convenience of microwaving them, though ! I don't like the idea of eating healthier and less, only to counter all the good by irradiating my food !

Jelly15 · 04/02/2013 20:00

I read the book yesterday, watched the DVD today and listened to track one this evening. Today I have been following the Four Golden Rules, so do I have to wait until I have shrunk my liver, in a week or two, by cutting out fats and sugars? I am sure it is my addiction to both is the reason I am at least five stone overweight.

Many of you seen to have listen to track two within a few days of reading the book or have missunderstood the book?

bulshit · 04/02/2013 20:41

HI Jelly15, yes you are right about eating no fatty or sugary foods between 1-2weeks, plus walking 20mins per day. I did do the two weeks but never managed no sugary or fatty for the full 2 weeks. I did however managed the 20min walk for 13days.

Did not want to start after a week because my birthday was coming up, however the band is now in place and it's been a very good day. I even managed to exercise in the evening. I am trying to master this new routine.

Good luck Jelly15

bulshit · 04/02/2013 20:48

HI Delgirl, just keep going and be positive. Try installing the band again and see what happens then. This system is such a great opportunity to change you life.

Think how happy you will be in a few months when you have lost some weight. I know that when your emotions are high you cannot control what you put into your mouth. Use this opportunity wisely and you will win. Xxxxxx

orangeandlemons · 04/02/2013 20:52

I had a hypno gastric band done through Groupon. It cost £100 (should be £480) and was a total waste of time.

I haven't read the P M book yet, but I have scanned this thread, and what has struck me, is the amount of people with bingeing/overeating problems. I am one of these people, but what has worked for me is intermittent fasting. You lose all desire to overeat. After 25 years of screwed and distorted eating, and every slimming thing going (including hypnosis) this intermittent fasting is the first thing to restore my eating habits to somewhere near normal.

Just letting you know there are other options should gastric band fail Smile

Jelly15 · 04/02/2013 21:15

Thanks Bulshit, good luck to you too.

I am sure I can do the twenty mins walking but I think no sugar or fat will be too hard, so I will just reduce the sugar lots and go low fat. So excited to install the band think I can manage a week but waiting two will be so hard.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 04/02/2013 21:28

Jelly - I didn't. I read the book, thought about it for about a week and then did the two CD tracks one after the other on Thursday.

I have been amazed at the change and how well it has worked for me. I will be amazed if I haven't lost any weight when I weigh myself because I have drastically reduced my eating without any effort apart from following the Golden Rules. I really think the rules are the key. I feel full so quickly and have no desire to snack. When I start to feel hungry and think I may need to have a snack I look at the clock and realise it is lunchtime or dinner time!

Vampygirl · 04/02/2013 21:49

Hi everyone, I fitted the band last week and it really does seem to work. I've really been sticking to the four rules and its been pretty easy tbh. The only thing is he says you won't think about food, well I'm thinking about it all the time!!! I'm always asking myself if I'm actually hungry, what do I want to eat? What can I get that's really yummy lol anyone else find this??
I no I shouldn't have but I weighed myself this morning, 7 lbs lighter so VERY happy. If your thinking of giving it a go, do it, just stick to the four rules and you will defo see a change

Mckenngp1 · 05/02/2013 09:13

Hi have read the thread with interest, seem to be more positive reviews of this system than bad which is very encouraging.I read the book last week, followed the instructions and installed the band yesterday. I have done his other programme in the past and it didn't seem to have a strong enough effect on my bad eating habits or i just didn't follow the golden rules strictly enough! But after this band was fitted I actually had stomach ache and I feel a bit sickly. Struggling to eat anything tbh. I' m wondering if I am actually ill or if the hypnosis thing is too much? Anybody else felt physical symptoms after it?

SMTT01 · 05/02/2013 09:19

Woo hoo I've lost 5lb since Friday and it not even my proper weigh in day! I only want to lose a stone all in all x

TheMaskedHorror · 05/02/2013 09:47

Well done SMTT01!

After an early dinner yesterday, I felt a bist peckish and remembered the Godiva chocolates that dh bought me. I went to have a bit and I had 1 piece. I had no urge to have anymore and found putting it away again the most natural thing ever!
I would have scoffed the lot in one sitting before.

I just hope this continues!

I'm going to weigh myself on Saturday.

Jayneguest · 05/02/2013 10:54

I keep following peoples comments with interest. There seems to be a bit of a split but many people are successful. Keep going is all I want to say. I know I have been using a hypnotist to help me and I think it was a much better option than reading a book that isnt aimed at me but go for it ! try anything

Loumumoffour · 05/02/2013 14:11

I have lost a dress size!! I can now put my jeans on without undoing the button!! I had my first comment today 'Have you lost weight Louise??' It was such a wonderful feeling to know someone else has noticed the changes too.

bulshit · 05/02/2013 15:00

HI Vampygirl, I am so pleased that you have lost 7lbs already. I do understand what you mean about thinking about food. I myself think about food, but like you I try to think am I really hungry.

For me is early days, I am only on day 2 and it's just after lunch time. I am going to stick at it as I feel this is my last chance to make a life time change.

I have been combining the gastric band with exercise. I installed the band yesterday and did my 20min walk then in the even I practice Zumba, it took me over one hour and twenty min to practice the moves plus the basic workout. This morning I done twenty five mins strength training and hopefully will do Zumba basic again tonight. Some of the moves in the Zumba are quite difficult but I take this as a challenge.

Hopefully I will win. I wish you luck and keep going. xxxxx
