I had my hypno gastric band 'fitted' by Paul McKenna last night...

...so far so good! Admittedly its not even 11am yet, but I havent eaten my snacks which are sitting on my desk and not even tempting me! Normally I don't allow myself anything till 10am, then I pounce!

I am doing this in conjunction with weightwatchers, which Paul McKenna would not approve of, since he despises 'diet clubs' (boy does this come through loud and clear in his book).

However since I don't know the man personally, and I feel I need the WW sessions for support, I am carrying on with pro- pointing and hoping that my gastric band will provide the backup I need to not binge and eat more than my body needs.

I've been (back) on weightwatchers for several months now and failed miserably because I am both a compulsive eater and a (hopefully) reformed bulimic.

I'd like to think this will help me - and I'm willing to try it because I am now as heavy as I was just after I gave birth to DS2 3 years ago (my heaviest, unless you count when I was 40 weeks pg!)

If anyone is interested I will report back :)

So proud of myself!! Went to the cinema with my children aged 4, 5, 7 and 8 and my husband. Everyone had popcorn except me!!! That is so unheard of!!! Even the smell of the popcorn kiosk turned my stomach.

Well, I've gone from not feeling remotely different and still eating big meals to binging on Creme Eggs since Wednesday when the DDs annoyed me.

What I need isn't a gastric band, it's a mental adjustment that stops me from responding to the slightest stress with a week-long binge.

@Loumumoffour - well done! I haven't come to that hurdle yet, but I know that as there is absolutely no way to eat at the cinema without distraction, the popcorn, nachos and ice cream sundaes of old will be nothing but an unwholesome memory!

NB What did you see? Monsters Inc by any chance? If so, it's a great fave of ours.

@AnnieLobeseder - sorry to hear of the bingeing. But don't think that means the Golden Rules don't work for you. How do you get on with the Havening technique? Or have you tried meditation to deal with stress?

Have you been able to follow the Four Golden Rules strictly for any length of time? If you haven't, then I'd urge you to try that without any exceptions. (And to enlist the help and support of your family and friends and work colleagues if possible.) If you are able to get several days under your belt of eating consciously exactly what you want, without TV or any other distractions (preferably in silence) only when you are hungry and stopping when you are full, I think you will be well on your way to forming a new habit - an incredibly positive one! After two weeks of not deviating at all from the Four Golden Rules, I cannot, now, imagine eating in any other way! And I'm really no stranger to binges at all!

Well done!!

I'm still doing well on the no snacking. I have no desire to snack but unfortunately my meals werent what I wanted to eat and werent good choices due to poor planning.
Dinner will be healthy and hopefully I can get round to preparing proper food tomorrow.

I'm having mozzarella and pesto tart tonight. Just tomato base on puff pastry. Will have a handful of rocket with it.

Well done Lou!

I'm on day 4 now but haven't weighted myself yet. Am trying to wait a week.

I am astonished at my lack of snacking and lack of thinking about food. I'm eating less than half of what I used to for meals and no snacking at all in between. It feels like a total mind-shift.

Emmie - I felt anxious beforehand too, and actually put it off a few times before doing it, but it has been great, and the best eating plan I have ever had. I love that I can eat whatever I want, but that I have no desire to binge. It is a revelation.

Something else odd happened today. Was offered a piece of birthday cake, took one bite and couldn't eat any more. It was vile, so unbearably sweet. DH had wolfed his portion down, so I gave mine to him.

When we got home I asked him about the cake, asking if he noticed how odd it tasted, and he looked at me like I was nuts and said it just tasted of cake. Grin I have my period at the minute and I would ordinarily be gulping down anything sweet I could get my hands on, but after we had this conversation I realised I hadn't had anything sweet since starting with the band.

I've just tried two small chocolates, they had an awful bitter taste. I have a bag full and I'm not even tempted to try another!!
I've just listened to the cd for the third time now, I really fell further into trance, felt like my legs were lifting up involuntarily!! It was so much deeper this time than previous times, maybe it's because I know what's expected this time and I can relax far more. Strange!!!!!

Omg . Does this work? I'm going to get it for my sister if it does . She was going to have hypnotherapy for weight loss.

Report
Loumumoffour · 03/02/2013 22:48

It's worked for many of us as you can see!!
For me this is so worth it, it's under£10 and has had a huge impact on my thought processes and my unconscious mind. I was very sceptical and have never used a hypnotherapy cd before in my life.
I am amazed 4 days on.

Great . I will get it for her. Would you say you have emotional issues with food ? I know she comfort eats and this needs addressing .

I have four young children aged 4, 5, 7 and 8 !!!!! I suppose I just do everything for the children and grab things for myself as I pass the kitchen cupboards running!! I don't tend to comfort eat, but its perfect for your sister. It alters your whole way of thinking. It's quite incredible. I'm completely mindful now when I eat. You must sit at a table, no tv or any distractions and chew each mouthful 20 times. It works.

I am going to fit Paul McKenna hypnotic gastric band tomorrow and I am really looking forward to doing it. I was 55years old on the 1st February and has been a member of weight watchers for years. I have lost weight on the program quite a few times, but put it back on. I am fed up of counting points and would just like to be free.

I need to loose about 3 stones. I do not wish to be a slave to the scales and have decided to only weigh once per month when I listen to the installation trance.

Wlll keep you all updated on my progress. progress. Good luck to you all.
