It seems daunting, but actually it's easy. If you're at work, make sure you always have a glass of water in front of you. Sip at it during the day, and whenever it's empty, fill it up. (I plonk a two litre bottle in front of me). Same in the evening, just have a bottle of water next to you.

Although I don't need to drink as much, sometimes I can easily get through 4 litres in a day.

I like to drink sparkling, rather than still, as it feels less punitive. Sometimes people find it easier to drink hot water.

If you can't do it all to start with, just aim to build it up. You will find that to start with you're going to the loo all day - but your body does adjust to that.

I love our thread... You ladies really r so helpful, even when im not talking about food :) thank u

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 05/01/2013 17:23

stylelostinlabour - if it doesn't have any carbs, does that mean it's artificially sweetened? If so, it's something you really need to avoid. What brand is it?

Re belly pork, I prefer to cook it in a piece rather than chop it up. That means you can roast the whole thing long and slow, which will mean it's lovely and juicy and tender.

Doshusallie · 05/01/2013 17:24

Braised cabbage recipe

Doshusallie · 05/01/2013 17:26

Sorry to hear about chicken pox and noro. Imagine if you got both at the same time?

B - greek yog
L - Stilton and broccolli soup
Snacks - handful of Brazil's and pkt pork scratchings - and a slice of cheddar
T - will be meat balls and green beans

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 05/01/2013 17:30

Packed lunch/picnic suggestions:

Chicken drumsticks/chicken kebabs (there's a recipe for chicken kebabs/marinated chicken on the recipe thread)
Sausages (low carb ones, obviously! The Black Farmer ones are lovely)
Hard boiled eggs
Home-made Scotch eggs, if you can be bothered with the faff! Just make sure the sausage meat is low carb, and don't coat in breadcrumbs. Try ground almonds instead (not strictly Bootcamp but OK for Bootcamp Light)
Tuna mayonnaise, with lettuce leaves to wrap it into - don't make them up in the morning as they will go soggy, but put the leaves in a separate bag to keep crisp
Cold, roasted veg dressed with vinaigrette (obviously you will need a fork for this!)
Smoked salmon/ham wrapped around cream cheese
Sliced cucumber
Frittata (there's a recipe for an asparagus one on the recipe thread)
Parmesan crisps (again, on the recipe thread)
Olives
Meatballs, with some kind of sauce to dip into
Prawns and mayo

Sorry I meant to the cabbage pork is once massive joint slowly roasting away yummy.

It's waitrose low cal fiery ginger beer says no artificial flavourings - just left over from Christmas and really fancy a glass while other have wine :(

Also have some fentimans ginger beer as well

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 05/01/2013 17:46

Style - according to the Waitrose website, these are the ingredients:

Waitrose Fiery ginger beer low calorie 2litre
Contains:

Carbonated water, flavourings (including ginger root extract), citric acid, sweeteners aspartame and acesulfame K, preservative potassium sorbate, acidity regulator sodium citrates, fruit and vegetable extracts (apple and hibiscus), stabiliser glycerol esters of wood rosins

Yes, it's low carb - but full of artificial stuff. I'd drink it all today/tomorrow before Bootcamp starts if I were you!

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 05/01/2013 17:47

Oh, and it's worth pointing out - for everyone - that citric acid is also something that can impede weight loss. I have no idea why! But worth looking out for when you are reading labels.

Stylelostinlabour · 05/01/2013 17:49

Thank you so much - hopefully it won't effect my weight lost so far it's that or red wine...

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 05/01/2013 17:51

Well I know what I'll be drinking tonight ... Grin

Doshusallie · 05/01/2013 17:55

Lushes.

OTTMummA · 05/01/2013 17:56

Wow! Lots of ladies on here : D nice to have the support. I am making brocolli and blue cheese soup, but using leek instead of onion. I am going to freeze it into portions so I have something ready made next week. I also love the sound of the braised cabbage, will be trying that out on Sunday and use leftovers for Monday breakfast. Yummy.

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 05/01/2013 17:59

Yummy is, IMVHO, a key word to describe this WOE! I will never go back to dreary calorie-controlled, low fat meagre portions of food.

captainmummy · 05/01/2013 18:06

coldethyl and froufrou - my birthday is Tuesday too! how weird. (same as Elvis, David Bowie, StephenHawkin - I always say they got the brains, the looks, the singing talent...what's left for us?)

I'm going to a Thai restuarant, hope it won't be too bad. I'll avoid the rice, but prob will have rice crackers and chilli dip - love it.

LucyVFood · 05/01/2013 18:09

Sorry, I'm full of questions and self doubt today. Is there such a thing as too much fat? I know people don't like to weigh, but how much butter would you put on, for example, veg? How much cream? I put about a tablespoon of creme fraiche on cabbage last night; is that too much? Not enough?

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 05/01/2013 18:16

No problem, Lucy - that's what this thread is for! And no, no such thing as too much fat.

That said, there is a limit on cream as dairy can impede weight loss - I think Atkins recommends no more than 2-3 tablespoons per day.

Stylelostinlabour · 05/01/2013 18:17

OMG the Braised Cabbage is amazing - just started it now and already eaten some before its even finished...

Although I must have cut my cabbage wrong as its all broken up oh well still taste naughty - are you sure I can eat this

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 05/01/2013 18:17

Being realistic, you will find that there is a limit to how much fat you want to eat anyway - especially once the novelty of this WOE has worn off! Fat is very satiating, so you won't want very much.

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 05/01/2013 18:18

Yes, style, you can Grin

Brilliant diet, isn't it?!

BlackAffronted · 05/01/2013 18:22

Just had a very tasty dinner of cod & spinach cheese melt - was so tasty! It was a recipe on the good food website that didnt even need adapting to low carb Grin Its just fish, baby spinach, philly cheese, 2 slices of tomato & parmesan.

This ends 2 100% perfect low carb days, Im definitely in the zone.

Stylelostinlabour · 05/01/2013 18:23

I can't thank you enough for this diet it's a a amazing 5lb lost in 4 days and I feel amazing, if not a little spotty and bad nails but that's January for you.

BlackAffronted · 05/01/2013 18:23

I agree, the braised cabbage is amazing :)
