Welcome to thread 11 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition.

Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we might have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!

So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several.

QueenOfHalloween · 13/05/2013 17:20

PP Ohh yes please. I'm hoping to up my 5 a day by having juices/smoothies so any recipes you could send me will be greatly appreaciated :) Thank you.

Tallulah glad your still finding it ok. And well done on the wheat, i'm not sure i would manage!

Not felt hungry at all today so only just going to sit down and have a meal. It's times like this that i worry i'm not eating enough.

veryberrybug · 13/05/2013 18:43

blimey what a weird weather day! every time i went to leave the house i'd look out at glorious sun & then got soaked so my trews had a tidemark three times & hailed on twice!! Confused

queen i ditto pp on whizzing rather than juicing, i think it's better to have all that lovely fibre! i know a really nice veg smoothie recipe if you're interested. might be a good idea to have a wee something during the day to get your metabolism going? dunno how that fits with Pauling though, never had that problem! Blush but no food? - aaiiee!!

i'm enjoying the timing of 6/7pm zumba classes cos i just have a teeny tea with kids @5 so i don't get the boak when i'm jumpin & then no really hungry after, maybe some fruit or a yoghurt. does anyone else find exercise makes them no very hungry? cos at the weekend when i'm not doing exercise class i find i'm more hungry?? Hmm

QueenOfHalloween · 13/05/2013 22:05

Very I'd welcome any recipes you have as well. I'm eager to aid my veg and fruit intake in anyway i can. At least i won't have to concentrate on chewing this as much! I really admired what they did in the film and how they changed their lives but i'm not sure i could do it. I just want to add more veg into my diet as i know i don't eat enough. God i'd be climbing the walls if i couldn't eat actual food. This is why i'm loving Pauling Smile

I don't know where you live Very but here the sun has been shinning but the wind is soooo bad i nearly got knocked down the steps in our garden when the little gate which separates the area where the dogs play from the rest of the garden. Plus i had to take one of my dogs for his booster and i only have a little car and it was really being shaken about in the wind!

ppeatfruit · 14/05/2013 09:03

Morning all Grin Yes veryberry I also find that exercise stops me feeling hungry which is interesting isn't it? Okay recipe for fruit smoothie Queen

Winter one (I use what fruit is available usually what's in season so apples and pears maybe the odd strawberry or blueberry)

1 large or 2 small apples chopped and washed but not peeled unless its brown anywhere

half an organic lemon washed squeezed for juice and chopped (I use ALL the lemon because there is most vit C in the pith)
2 -3 tabsp. ground almonds
2 tabsp. ground linseeds (for health because there's high omega 3 in linseeds and it's a good way of eating them without tasting them)!!
3 -4 chopped dried org. apricots OR
3 -4 chopped dates OR
a handful of sultanas\raisins
pear\apple or grape juice
hot but not boiled water

Directions Put all chopped fruit in a deep container or the goblet that comes with the handheld liquidiser add all juices and water and liquidise (it depends on how thick and sweet you like your smoothie as to whether you need to add extra juice or warm water). I always have mine with a large glass of water because you need extra fluid with the linseeds.

For the summer I use all the gorgeous summer fruits and do the same without the dried fruit of course) as above cold of course with ice if the weather is really warm.

ppeatfruit · 14/05/2013 09:20

BTW I can't finish one of these even if I wasn't on the P.M. Grin I just cover it and put in the fridge they're very filling. The lemon keeps it from going off too fast. So i sometimes have the rest in the late afternoon or breakfast the next day Grin

QueenOfHalloween · 14/05/2013 23:00

PP thanks very much for the recipe. I shall try it out.

Eaten way too much today. Wonder if its because i didn't listen to my CD last night? Wasn't well and had a really bad night. Will have to make sure i listen to him properly tonight.

ppeatfruit · 15/05/2013 09:09

That's the great thing about Pauling it's so easy to pick up again Grin! hope you're feeling better today Queen

Rulesgirl · 15/05/2013 15:58

Hi Ladies....hope your all ok and that when you forget to do the PM that you just restart as soon as you can.
pp with your blood diet ( ha ha that sounds funny....vampires) is it basically low carb low sugar, low gi or something along those lines? I as k because from all my research this would seem the best way to eat for optimal health and to keep disease free. Whats your opinion.

ppeatfruit · 15/05/2013 16:06

Well it's quite complex because it based on the scientific study of all our blood types E.G. O types ( DH) are good with animal based proteins and A types should have not much at all (interestingly my body has always known this). Dr. Peter D'adamo is the author if yo fancy taking a look. It's on FB too.

Solo · 15/05/2013 16:26

Hello all!!

Would you like me to launch the new thread? I know I'm not here much these days, but I'm still one of the gang! Wink.

I have to lose some weight. I've got two weeks in sunny Yorkshire this summer (about 9 or 10 weeks time)!! and would like to be a lot bit slimmer. I am going to try to listen to the gastric band disc whilst I'm ironing tonight.

Rulesgirl · 15/05/2013 16:33

I must have a proper look. Even though I do PM as im approaching the menopause I want to go through it naturally and feel that what I eat is my medicine. I know that the bad effects of menopause are a predominately western issue so am going to have a clean up of my food choices (and start eating weirdly ha ha) and eat more cleanly IYKWIM. It is no longer believed that soy is the reason that eastern women avoid menopause and this has now been proved to be bad for us in too high quantity so take that away and eastern ladies eat a clean diet based on fish and vegetables.

Solo · 15/05/2013 16:48

I'm peri menopausal too Rules :(

Rulesgirl · 15/05/2013 17:01

Glad im not alone Solo. Im getting hot flushes. I had them a year ago and after a month they stopped but have returned hence wanting to eat differently. Of course I still do it the PM way. Why would I not, just that I want to sail through this as easily as poss. I will be really interested to see how you get on with the gastric band thing. Launch away!!

Solo · 15/05/2013 17:13

That's how it happened for me too. Flushes for a while now and again, then nothing, now, I'm flushing, sweats, up between 2 and 7 times a night to wee, night sweats/flushes...arghhhhhhh!!!

I have a book about eating for the menopause too...haven't looked at it yet Blush

Rulesgirl · 15/05/2013 17:18

Well get reading and we can share tips lol. Not sure if I have a lurgy bug as well but in between the hot flushes I got cold shivers too. Havnt had "sweats" though.

Solo · 15/05/2013 17:54

Yep, I get the flush, fling the bed clothes off, then go really cold. So does my friend.

QueenOfHalloween · 15/05/2013 19:44

Guys i'll swap you the hot flushes for being freezing cold! I'm actually layering up cos i'm soooo cold. Its been peeing it down all day mind but even with the heating on i'm cold Sad

Back on track today. Listened to my CD again last night and then cursed myself for being so daft the day before. I made my favorite spag bol for tea and was really enjoying it but 4 some reason i just couldn't bring myself to stop eating despite the fact i was full. Oh well. It's been a new day.

veryberrybug · 15/05/2013 20:20

hello all Smile

queen i know what you mean sometimes the deliciousness of some meal can make you want to ignore the full signal, the last couple of days i caught myself realising i was getting full & almost racing to finish what i had before i felt really full ?!? so now i say to myself "yes but it'll still be yummy later when i'm hungry again & i don't want to be fat forever" which helps me stop.

funnily enough i felt it starting to slip away like that & i realised i'd no listened to CD since last week, so plugged myself in on the sofa with a nice blanket (ditto bloomin cold here in edinburgh) & DP came in unexpectedly "HELLOOO!" & even after another 10 mins while i was still plugged in tried talking to me so afterwards i told him "i had to ignore you because you didn't say '3-2-1 you're back in the room'!" Grin

now i've had a mini magnum for me tea & half of DD2s chips & cheese, & can't help feeling a bit naughty doing this the night before my weigh & measure... the old diet mentality eh. before i would've waited 'til after & then binged probably not noticing them Blush

veryberrybug · 15/05/2013 20:47

queen nearly forgot: veg smoothie recipe

1/2 teaspoon bouillion (veg stock powder) dissolved in ~50ml warm water
~6" cucumber
a tomato
handful of spinach leaves
1/2 a capsicum pepper
small (new tatty sized) beetroot (optional)
1/2 an avocado (makes it really creamy mmm) (no skin)
a carrot
some broccolli
celery sticks?
anything else you fancy or happen to have!
1/2 an apple if you'd like to sweeten it up?
1 tbsp Udo's oil (omega 3,6,9)

all veg = raw. wash & roughly chop stuff into chunks. add them in the order given (because wet ones first make it easier to whizz) & whizz before next addition. more carrot/beetroot/pepper makes it sweeter.

enjoy Grin

veryberrybug · 15/05/2013 20:48

p.s i ate it with a spoon, thought of it as cold thick soup snack. but i guess you could water it down if you preferred.

QueenOfHalloween · 15/05/2013 22:36

Very Thank you for the recipe. I'm looking forward to trying it. Oh wow you live in Edinburgh. I love Edinburgh. Me and my partner were there in March. Hoping to go back again near Christmas time. So beautiful.

Well along with my 2 new yummy smoothy recipes my lovely partner surprised me today and a juicer arrived in the post! I guess he liked the idea too. Looking forward to trying it out but the thing looks massive! I love shiny new things to play with Grin

Rulesgirl · 16/05/2013 02:46

very that made me laugh...321 back in the room.!! Grin

ppeatfruit · 16/05/2013 09:33

Morning all!! Solo What are you like VGB indeed!!!!! Good luck if it works though !!

Ref. the menopause I sailed through it with the blood type, herbals and no horse pee pills!! rules SOME people are good with soya and others not like a lot of foods. (I only have non GM organic soya and its fine for me) the Japanese women have been healthy on it for thousands of years and are becoming unhealthy with the western diet (surprise Grin)

veryberry Thanks for the recipe is very like mine without the pepper (which I don't like) and I use my own stock and or just fresh lemon juice which is good to stop the browning. I also make a dip without extra liquid but with yoghurt and or soft goats cheese that's scrummy for the summer that isn't here yet either!

I'm going to be less on here 'cos we've got a guest coming and then to your side of the pond for DD2's wedding and a reception at the French Embassy ( Grin I know posh we don' t quite know why we've been invited probably half of London will be there but it means I have to worry about another outfit as well as MOB Shock)!!!! Then down to my mum's to bring her back here!!!

HadALittleFaithBaby · 16/05/2013 09:53

Morning all! hope you're all well. I might have a go with the smoothies. Can't bear to own a food processor after the last one caught fire but I might get a hand blender.

I've popped a couple of photos of Abigail on my profile.

ppeat enjoy your guest and the wedding! Hope it goes off ok :)
