Welcome to thread 11 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition.

Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we might have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!

So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several.

Oooo I have just been decorating a Thorntons Chocolate birthday cake by covering it in smarties....of course some made their way into my mouth [embarrassed] just because they were naughty enough to move into the wrong place on the cake!!!! It looks amazing though. I feel a bit sick now ha ha. Only had some smarties and a bread roll with homemade coleslaw and a bit of cheese on though so not too bad and not hungry and its......nearly eight oclock. Been a bit busy to day so having eating much.

Rulesgirl · 08/05/2013 19:53

so annoying when it doesn't convert links automatically!!!!Angry

Rulesgirl · 08/05/2013 19:55

Hada what were you taking the codeine for? And what do you mean by your joints being loose? Only asking because Im a runner but had to stop.

QueenOfHalloween · 08/05/2013 20:12

PP I've have found that i feel a little hungrier more often... Or at least i think i am? And just to make sure i'm not mistaking hunger for thirst i've upped my water intake and as i've mentioned before i'm eating smaller amounts as i can always eat more if i'm hungry.

Very i think you've hit the nail on the head with what you've said. The fact that nothing is restricted is so far making the biggest difference to me. I've had to be very strict with myself to make sure i'm not strict with myself. The other day i was thinking i fancied a McDonalds and straight away a voice in my head said "You shouldn't have that" and then another voice said "yes you can. Just not the way you used to!"

Still have that slight fear that i'm not eating enough.... Knowing how i've been in the past i know i won't stick to something if i don't lose. Although i'm hoping this won't happen in this case.

So on a slightly funnier note. Last night was the first night i "went to bed with Paul". I got myself ready, got comfortable and put my ears phones on. OH wasn't there so was able to take up most of the room in the bed. Anyway i did fall asleep whilst he was playing but the one thing i had forgotten was that the track player on my phone is set for continuous play and the next track after Paul is Marilyn Manson's I Don't Like the Drugs. I had expect to wake when Paul said to. Instead i woke up in shock as the tone went from soft and gentle to.... well to Marilyn Manson! Didn't really have a detrimental affect on my sleep as once i'd recovered from the momentary shock i simply turned everything off, turned over and went to sleep. Hopefully my subconscious mind listened to Paul even if the rest of me drifted off.

HadALittleFaithBaby · 08/05/2013 21:01

Grin Paul to Marilyn Mason! I have Paul on his own playlist so it doesn't try to play me anything wise afterwards.

Rules last year I had what they initially thought was a UTI. After a week of antibiotics I was in agony and ended up being admitted to hospital and was there 9 days while surgeons faffed. Anyway long story short I was meant to have an operation in September to investigate up my urinaty tract - doc thought a kidney stone might be stuck. Wouldn't do it while I was pregnant so I had acupuncture and the pain improved. Now as I say I don't seem to need the pain killers. Just got a niggle now but it feels like my hip not where the pain was.

Running wise you're not meant to run straight after giving birth - the hormones make your joints loose so you can push the baby out and they take a while to settle afterwards. I'm just trying to walk plenty at the moment.

QueenOfHalloween · 08/05/2013 21:48

Hada I'm following your example and Paul is now living on his own Playlist.

I miss running and race walking. Roll on getting better.

Rulesgirl · 09/05/2013 01:56

Hada interesting. I didn't run when I was younger. Started running about 9 years ago but got shin splints so now use a really brill treadmill or power walk. Do weights and yoga. Used to do Karate but did my knee in. God.....and they say exercise is good for you ha ha!. They do say though that if your a runner before your pregnant that you can continue running throughout your pregnancy and after. Bet your looking forward to getting back into it. It really motivates you to get in shape doesn't it.

HadALittleFaithBaby · 09/05/2013 06:54

I hadn't run much before. I did a 10k 5 years ago but didn't really do enough training. Last new year I started Pauling and decided to run again planning to do a local 10k in March. I got on really well running /Pauling until I fell ill. I was actually in hospital when I should have been doing the 10k! The pain became chronic and I couldn't run so I was walking lots when I got pregnant instead. Now the pain has improved I'm looking forward to running again.

ppeatfruit · 09/05/2013 07:15

Morning all Grin May i make a tentative suggestion for you if you're inexplicably ill, in pain, etc. Try giving up all pork products and see how you feel after a few weeks Grin. DH was literally disabled after a pork dinner last year and I looked it up in the blood type encyclopedia and it's the only meat that should be avoided be all of us.

He doesn't eat it now and is miles better; he has turkey or chicken 'ham'.

ThreeDaughtersLoveSandwiches · 09/05/2013 07:19

Hi all I have been on this thread before but feel off the wagon! I lost over a stone 2 years ago and managed to get to 10st 3lbs but put a whole load more on and by January this year I was 12st 2lbs Blush since then I have lost about a stone and started the c25k which I am really enjoying. Once I have found my motivation I will start listening to the cd again!

I have a question for ppeatfruit. I have a friend who has lupus and struggles to do any exercise other than walking. She really wants to get rid of her muffin top but it isn't shifting. In an earlier thread I remember you talking about exercises that didn't cause pain but really worked and said there is a book, was wandering if you could let me know what it is called? Thanks.

Sorry I haven't read the whole thread as I need to get ready for work now.

ppeatfruit · 09/05/2013 07:27

Hello nice to hear from you I must say I can't remember your name ThreeDaughters Grin yes it's acupressure The book is called THE COMPLETE SYSTEM OF SELF HEALING INTERNAL EXERCISES by Dr. Stephen Chang

You could also reccommend her to look at the Blood Type By Dr. Peter D'Adamo its on FB and lots of people have been cured of all sorts on it Grin

ThreeDaughtersLoveSandwiches · 09/05/2013 10:09

No I have changed my name since I was on this thread last so would probably have been MuffinsMummy or Thing3.

Thank you I will have a look at those suggestions for me as well. I have been getting stomach cramps and feeling tired when I eat white bread lately so it might help.

Right I am going to dust off my head phones tonight and listen to Paul! I supposed to be going to exSILs wedding later this year and exH will be there with his girlfriend plus his ex girlfriend is bridesmaid, I want to look my best!

ppeatfruit · 09/05/2013 12:08

We've got dd2 's wedding in June (first proper wedding among the Dcs) so I 've got to carry on Pauling to maintain my size 10!! You're very welcome BTWGrin

veryberrybug · 09/05/2013 17:02

queen LOL @ your playlist debacle! i remember something similar happening to me with a different relaxation years ago & being drummed back to reality i think by the kaiser chiefs!! quite a shock to the system.

three hello & what is c25k? is it a race?

rules i did karate too! & loved it for a good couple of years. but then i lost that wee agressive fire & didny like fighting, so stopped. if i could've just done katas & no combat i'd probably have lasted longer.

pp interesting about the pork, also seeing as two major religions ban it. i wonder if i'm missing something here? i don't quite get how it's different from other meat?

good luck all you runners - i tried & gave up, but having said that i'm heavier now so that made it so much more toil, & i did notice it got so much easier when i got down to ~10stone before. i'm going to zumba myself into shape this time & am hopeful i'll stick at it because i love it & always come out grinning like a pink idiot! i seem to fit the blood type O exercise pattern.

tallulahmay · 09/05/2013 21:23

Hi all I've been consumed by my life and not Pauling at all the last few days: I work vile shifts and can go for long periods hardly knowing what my name is. A big part of my food problem I'm sure. Anyway, the last two days I've been trying not to eat wheat. I think the thing I need to get sorted is planning some foods/meals instead of discovering I'm hungry and just eating toast or sandwiches instead of actual meals. I've been off today which makes life a million times easier. Back onto nights next week Sad

QueenOfHalloween · 09/05/2013 22:40

Very C25K is short for Coach to 5k and is a really good training programme that takes you from running 60secs/walking 60 secs to running for 30mins and being able to complete a 5k. I'd fully recommend it.

Tullul I honestly can't imagine how people who work shifts cope. I only did it during holidays from Uni and then it was a set shift so you could organise stuff around it if you wanted to but i never wanted to do anything before work because i knew work would ware me out. I'm sure once you have time to sort your menu you'll do fine :)

Starting to think this Pauling lark is witchcraft. I've not craved anything, i've turned down the offer of my OH fetching my favourite turnovers (they don't make them where i live) cos i didn't fancy them and today i went shopping and just bought what was on my list! Nothing else and no adding tonnes of chocolate cos i just didn't feel like any at the time. Honestly its like someone has put a spell on me Grin

Rulesgirl · 10/05/2013 00:22

Hi Ladies.....very I preferred the Katas too but didn't like doing them all by myself. They are like a dance arnt they.

Today for breakfast I had a small piece of that birthday cake that I decorated (its a Thorntons chocolate one). OMG it is lovely. Have spent the day doing studying. Im doing a degree as a mature student so have to keep up with that and went to the gym.
Tullul my DH works shifts and has done for nearly 30 years. They have even thrown my sleep pattern out of whack over the years. Lack of sleep also makes concentrating on your eating difficult as you usually just want to grab easy food and things that give you the best energy hit.
Queen know what you mean about PM and magic. Knowing you can have everything and anything means that you find you almost don't bother with anything in the end IYKWIM.
Threedaughters you have so got to get looking as good as you can for that wedding especially given the ex husband will be there with his girlfriend. Stay here and we will all make sure you get to your goal.

ThreeDaughtersLoveSandwiches · 10/05/2013 07:37

Morning all Smile

Right cd listened to last night and week 5 of c25k finished. I ran / jogged 1.62 miles in 20 minutes yesterday, I struggled to run for a minute when I first started!

My friend keeps asking why I'm bothered about my exH thinks but I'm not doing it in a look what you are missing way but a this is going to be shite at least I want to feel confident way, if that makes sense.

Right off to work now, have a good day :)

ppeatfruit · 10/05/2013 08:51

Morning all Grin Blimey you're earlier than me Threedaughters sorry I didn't register all the ex's in your post about the wedding OMG! Ex's are difficult at weddings Our son in law to be has divorced parents and his DF lives with a GF who also has a GF!! (I don't know if they're ALL coming ! We've left the guest list to DD2 to organise its too compicated for us!!)

Ref. tiredness, apparently when we're tired our bodies don't produce a particular hormone that helps to stop overeating!

veryberryPork is a no no because it is highly acid forming (therefore causing gout and arthritis etc.) and is the most like human (cannibals call us 'long pig') Shock

Solo · 10/05/2013 10:02

Hello all :)

ppeatfruit · 10/05/2013 10:24

Hi Sols Grin have you got the day off? How are you?

QueenOfHalloween · 10/05/2013 20:22

Evening all Smile

Threedaughters so glad i never have to see any of my exs. But i know exactly what you mean and i'd be doing the same as you! Well done on the C25K front. I'm too ill to run at the mo but as soon as i'm well i'll be back to it.

PP So annoyed that Pork causes gout, arthritis, etc. I love pork. Is that info from the Eat right for your blood type book?

Spent the night with Paul again last night and i just wondered if this happens to anyone else? I settled down in bed, got myself comfortable and started the track. As soon as it started my leg started to itch... So i scratched that... Then i got a itch somewhere else... No sooner had i sorted one itch than i noticed more! It's the same every night! Something always distracts me! Very annoying. That happen to anyone else or is my body just weird?

Oh and i know PM says to leave getting weighed for at least 2 weeks but i just can't so getting weighed tomorrow. Wish we luck.

Rulesgirl · 10/05/2013 21:11

That's just your mind resisting Three just ignore it and go back to counting. Counting is to concentrate the mind. It's similar to meditating . It's the way your mind trys to stop you from being hypnotized. Wink

veryberrybug · 10/05/2013 22:00

good evening all! thank goodness it's friday i'm pooped.

queen i've had the same feeling about takeaway burgers or other previous longed-for forbidden fruits: now i can have them i find myself just saying "hmmm naah, don't fancy it" Shock yeah i've had phantom itches too, really annoying! but aaarrgh don't weigh yourself! because if you do & you haven't lost, it'll totally wobble your resolve. i've made a similar mistake when i thought ooh i just want a wee booster of seeing what i've lost" & it was my period & i weighed more with all the water retention etc & felt down & annoyed with myself after. just wait another week! & let the pauling habits settle in. i too love bacon Grin don't like to think of it poisoning me waaah but ta for info pp

tallulah aw shame shifts must be shit. my friend's DH had sleep apnoea & when getting it investigated docs said a lot of people with sleep deprivation (for whatever reason) are overweight because in exhaustion they seek out sugar for that boost, which makes them fat. if you get a chance to plan meals before you're on again it may help & nuts in your handbag - anyone else love marmite cashews?

rules cake for brekky sounds ace! i find i want that when i've had Wine the night before Wink yeah katas can be a beautiful combination of moves top marks to you doing a mature student degree, it takes a lot of commitment

three i know what you mean about it's a wedding it'll be shit! good luck & it'll be easier for sure if you feel like "well i'm wearing this dress & looking flipping fabulous!" Smile
