I'd love to lose a stone...

Classic case: been dieting for 10 years on and off, have a hubby who is probably a little underweight, have a 8mth old who needs stuff to be mashed, and I'd love to lose a stone. Saw a picture of me at a wedding yesterday, after I'd lost my pregnancy weight (only put on 6lb), and I nearly cried, looked massive.

I'm 25, a size 12-14, 5 7, and 11 st 8lb so a little chubby. I work 3 days a week and work in retail gardening so run around a bit and do lots of lifting.

I'd like to know if there's anyone who's managed to lose that last bit and if there's any tips?

Thank you

I'm managing to do well too. Porridge for breakfast, ww meal for lunch and homemade low fat cottage pre for dinner. Got a low call homemade soup in the slow cooker cooking for tomorrow. Treated myself to a biscuit at toddler group and still have spare cals. :-)

(a to for those who love mash like me. Cook a cauliflower at the same time and drain and mash. Then add it to your potatoes when mashing. Reduces cals, makes it less stodgy and a great way of getting more veg onto you and dcs)

Hey good to see everyone is full of high spirits (if not literally!!!) felt like I had a good day too. But most importantly I don't feel so hungry all the time so Im hoping my stomach is shrinkingGrin weigh in tomoro gulp!!

Wommer · 07/01/2013 21:11

Does anyone else get excited to weigh themselves the morning after a really "well-behaved" day?
.... Or is that just meBlush

GossipWitch · 07/01/2013 21:15

Can I join you, I started slimming world before Christmas, I weighed 12st 4lb and have lost 6lb to date, I now weigh 11 1/2 stone and need to lose 1 more stone to get to my target weight, I'm 5'6" and have large boobs so that's why I haven't opted for less than that, slimming world is working for me but would love some more online support :)

DancingInTheMoonlight · 07/01/2013 21:22

Hi gossip! Well done on your weight loss so far :-). I'm really impressed at how everyone is doing! I got another motivation today when my dsis called to say she wad visiting for my birthday and has booked us in for a photoshoot with my ds! My dsis is a pretty size 10.... Put all thoughts of wine out of my mind!

HomeintheSun · 07/01/2013 21:26

I have had a good day, I have made chocolate chip cookies for the kids and only had 1 myself, after my dinner I cleaned my teeth and am only drinking water now, I find that the evening snacking is one of my biggest downfalls.

Wommer · 07/01/2013 21:26

When's the shoot dancing? That would be an amazing motivator for me!

Are you doing a dry January too?

DancingInTheMoonlight · 07/01/2013 21:40

Will be end of Feb/beginning if march when she is over. Its a groupon voucher... It is a massive motivation (although turning 30 was one already) esp now there will be photographic evidence of my physical state at 30 ;-)

daisydee43 · 08/01/2013 09:11

Wommer- yes love weighing in after a good day it's better than choc! So far don't feel deprived, it's great to have so much support!

So.. What's everyone going to reward themselves with after losing the weight? I got £100 in various clothes shop vouchers for Xmas so gonna go on massive shopping spree - cant wait!

daisydee43 · 08/01/2013 09:12

Gossip - I did slimming world a few years back but unfortunately my body doesn't like carbs that much. What plan are you on?

Ok so just did a weigh in and In week one I have lost 3 1/2 lbs!! That feels good obviously can't really feel the difference so am trying to stay up about it and manage my expectations....am really trying to build up my confidence to get out now and go to that abs building Pilates class... Am worried it will be too hard and I will humiliate myselfHmm

Wommer · 08/01/2013 11:44

Done in that's brilliant! 1/4 of a stone!!

Don't worry about the class- everyone will be so worried about themselves they won't have time to watch you Smile

belle RED shoes!!! Excellent loving the sound of those!!!! And wommer 1/4 of a stone thank you that is a great way of thinking about it!

Pilates was tough but a nice group...only 3 of us in the class so nowhere to hide!!! Am out for dinner tonight but its a grilled meat place with lots of salad so not too stressed

kittykat10 · 08/01/2013 16:35

to be honest i dont know where to start with diets ? so any help be good

Wommer · 08/01/2013 18:08

Hi kitty
I've tried various things - for me personally low/no carbing works best and is QUICK, but can't do that this time as still BFing Ds (and its bloody expensive!)
I'm doing a combo of cutting out crap and all alcohol filling up on fruit/veggies and portion control.

DancingInTheMoonlight · 08/01/2013 18:21

So i want Chinese.... I must resist....but i really want it :-(

daisydee43 · 08/01/2013 18:33

Dancing - I had Chinese on sun, had beef in black bean and noodles and wasn't actually that bad when add up the cals. But don't want to be devils advocate lol

daisydee I'm on the easy plan, it fits in to things I generally eat but more careful about fat content and bread and pastries and gravy !!! but I have decided to syn gravy.

freerangeeggs · 08/01/2013 20:02

Congrats Gossipwitch!

kitty, I lost 5st on Weightwatchers and loved it. This time I'm just being careful - three sensible meals a day, no snacks.

Today I had:

banana smoothie for breakfast
smoked salmon bagel and a banana for lunch
veg curry with rice for dinner
banana smoothie afterwards

I eat a lot of bananas...
