I'd love to lose a stone...

Classic case: been dieting for 10 years on and off, have a hubby who is probably a little underweight, have a 8mth old who needs stuff to be mashed, and I'd love to lose a stone. Saw a picture of me at a wedding yesterday, after I'd lost my pregnancy weight (only put on 6lb), and I nearly cried, looked massive.

I'm 25, a size 12-14, 5 7, and 11 st 8lb so a little chubby. I work 3 days a week and work in retail gardening so run around a bit and do lots of lifting.

I'd like to know if there's anyone who's managed to lose that last bit and if there's any tips?

Thank you

belle that sounds delicious!!!! Thank you will add butternut squash to my shopping list!

Are you going to the WW meetings or doing it online? What's the deal with the weekly points are we meant to have any left over or are we supposed to use them all?

Have just recruited a friend to come and try Zumba with meShock we start on the 23rd so will let you know how that goes!! On Tuesday....which is weigh in day I'm trying out a Pilates class that's meant to focus on abs....maybe wishful thinking but really hoping to tame this mummy belly.

belleshell · 06/01/2013 18:48

hi you are meant to use them all, if not you will be under eating and thats not good either....so enjoy your dailies, and if needed use some weeklies...and all those active points u will be 2 stone lighter not a stone.... my meeting is a sat so if i get any more tips i will pass it on.......oh forgot my friend said butternut squash chips are fab too.....bake in oven sprinkled with paprika...free and scrummy.

PseudoBadger · 06/01/2013 18:55

Donein - you must use all your dailies but don't have to use your weeklies if you don't want to. You'll still lose if you use weeklies, just not as much. I lost 2lb this week using all my weeklies, but some weeks I won't lose as much by doing that.

Doneinagain · 06/01/2013 19:43

Damn those cheeky weeklies and their come to the biscuit tin eyes!!!!

Ok have 21 weekly points left to last me until Tuesday night...will try and leave a few over, you know just to be politeWink

Doneinagain · 06/01/2013 19:53

daisy are you here?? Just reding back you mentioned all the great WW products I should try. Have seen the Ww desserts but not the ready meals or the soups. For fear of sounding really thick where would I usually find these in the supermarket?

Will have the two DD's with me so if I know where I'm supposed to be looking hopefully it won't take too long!

Doneinagain · 06/01/2013 19:55

And thankspseudo and belle feel like I'm armed with all the relevant information now Onwards!!!!!!

DancingInTheMoonlight · 06/01/2013 19:59

The best ww meals are in the chilled ready meals section. In our supermarket (asda) its on the same aisle as the fresh pasta :-)

DancingInTheMoonlight · 06/01/2013 20:18

Also a tip to help those (like me) with chocolate cravings. Try to by the selection box (snack size) version. A cadburys buttons mini pack is only 75cals and most are under 100cals. Its curbed my hormonal choc fest :-)

Doneinagain · 06/01/2013 20:29

Good idea dancing right now I'm allowing myself 3 segments of Terrys chocolate orange ( a Christmas leftover) which is about 4 points....it keeps me going

daisydee43 · 06/01/2013 20:41

Doneinagain - I went to morrisons for desserts and yogs in the chilled section where other yogs are. They also do frozen desserts near other frozen desserts. Also got cake slices where other cakes are. Iceland is also good for offers

Hi I have just joined the My fittness Pal. I am 5ft 3 and weigh 163lb I want to lose 30lbs at about 2lb per week. I have 2 children, we are going to start walking to school and nursery every day instead of taking the car (approx 4 miles per day,for me) so as long as I can stay off the chocolate, drink more water I'll be able to lose it.
I start tomorrow Smile

freerangeeggs · 06/01/2013 21:58

Can I join in?

I'm not very good at keeping up with threads like this but I have good intentions!! Grin

I was 11st 6 before I went on my holidays in July, and since then I've managed to get down to 10st 9.5. All I've done is cut out snacking and tried to eat more healthily/walk more. I also changed contraceptive pill, which I suspect has made a difference (although the downside is I'm basically now just a massive walking spot). I'd like to get down to about 9st 7.

I'm going to continue this way, because it's worked well so far and it's nice not to feel like I'm on a diet. Previously lost 5st with WW (Shock) so I know these things work, but I've pointed/counted cals since I was ten years old so this makes a pleasant change.

No vigorous exercise though!! The one week I did loads of exercise I GAINED 2.5 lbs. I think that was water weight but I'm going to leave the exercise until I'm closer to my goal - it seems to complete things. Lots of walking though.

freerangeeggs · 06/01/2013 21:58

*complicate, not complete!!

happybubblebrain · 07/01/2013 00:23

Day 6 complete for me. I've been eating lots of homemade soup and vegi chilli. I'm finding it easy while I'm off work, but on Tuesday things will get harder as I'm back. I eat because I'm bored and at work there is no getting away from the boredom. Also, I can't eat a proper lunch or breakfast (as I never feel like eating at 6.30am) so I have to eat something at my desk, same again with my lunch. It's much tricker without a fridge, cooker, choice of healthy food etc. I'm going to give it a good go though.

I'm trying to stick to eating 1500 healthy calories for the whole year and I hope to lose about 2 stone in this time, although I don't weigh myself because I find it off-putting when I don't lose anything. I already do lots of exercise.

DancingInTheMoonlight · 07/01/2013 08:13

Hi all. Weighed in this morning at 162.4lb so 1.4lb off. (although i forgot to weigh in ore breakfast and coffee as usual). Happy with the loss but hoped for more as previously i have lost alot in the first week. That said, i have always had much more to lose than a stone and i know when i was losing the last stone before it took ages! Today is my day of but first say back at toddler groups with biscuit temptation- wish me luck!

MOSagain · 07/01/2013 09:04

Sad I seem to have put on 2lbs

MABS · 07/01/2013 10:08

it's probably muscle MOS. had a heavy w/e but gonne start again today and will weigh on Wed.

daisydee43 · 07/01/2013 11:15

Hi morning all, weighing in 2moz but couldn't resist it this morning and found I have lost 3lb in 6 days! Was really pleased as I have been giving it everything and although I'm still eating what I fancy, I'm making sure its only in small portions to stay under my cal limit, really pleased, don't think I could have done it without all your help/encouragement.

Great to hear everyone else's losses, mos don't get disheartened that you put on weight out bodies are funny things, I'm sure you'll be pleased this week - what diet are you doing?

Welcome to freerange!!

OP posts:
daisydee43 · 07/01/2013 11:19

Happy- I tend to take everything made up to work so I know how much I am allowed- like taking tins of soup at the mo which are really low cal, do you find your hungry all day?

OP posts:
happybubblebrain · 07/01/2013 12:01

Yes, work involves lots of planning. I find cold food less filling for some reason. I think I confuse boredom with hunger when I'm at work. Being surrounded by people scoffing huge sandwhiches, cakes etc doesn't help either. It's just much harder, and getting up really early doesn't help the day. I find myself eating a big breakfast which means there aren't enough calories for the rest of the day.

I'm going to take soup and crackers and lots of fruit. I jut have to think of something for breakfast which I can eat at my desk which is filling and low-cal. We're not allowed to eat cereal or hot food at our desks.

Well done to all of those who are sticking to their plans.

daisydee43 · 07/01/2013 14:55

I'm on my lunch now, bit of a late one. Am having a ww soup in mug (can you have that at desk and pretend its tea?) and packet of Special K crisps Smile

belleshell · 07/01/2013 15:18

Donein.morrisons have ww meals for half price in chiller section.happy, how about fruit and yoghurt....loads of fruit chopped with a nice yoghurt over top...i have 2 rich tea biscuits...i cant eat at 6.30 either... i do like the yoghurt and fruit mid morning..i also do fruit chuncks in a bag ie apple and grapes... and eat them out of bag, i trick myself into thinking its something like crisps (its NOTHING like crisps!!!!!!!) i have also discovered lychees, they take forever to peel and are messy but by time i get to what im menat to eat the bordem is relieved..

Wommer · 07/01/2013 16:04

Daisy that's brilliant! Well done!!
Had a sneaky jump on the scales this morning (weigh in isn't 'tip Friday for me) and had only lost 1/4 of a pound...
However (TMI alert!!!!) I also remembered that I hadn't been to the loo since last Thursday! Guess that would make quite a big difference wouldn't it?
Guess I'll find out tomorrow (as finally had a bm this morning... Oooooh thank god you're all strangers!) when I have another sneaky jump on the scales!

freerangeeggs · 07/01/2013 19:00

Thanks daisy dee :)

I had breakfast before work this morning for the first time in ages and it's made a big difference. I made a smoothie with a banana, dollop of low fat yoghurt, four prunes, bit of apple juice and a tsp of honey. It was lovely and really filled me up for the rest of the day.

Lunch was roast potatoes and ratatouille. Dinner was a Thai vegetable curry.

I feel very virtuous and smug :p
