I'd love to lose a stone...

Classic case: been dieting for 10 years on and off, have a hubby who is probably a little underweight, have a 8mth old who needs stuff to be mashed, and I'd love to lose a stone. Saw a picture of me at a wedding yesterday, after I'd lost my pregnancy weight (only put on 6lb), and I nearly cried, looked massive.

I'm 25, a size 12-14, 5 7, and 11 st 8lb so a little chubby. I work 3 days a week and work in retail gardening so run around a bit and do lots of lifting.

I'd like to know if there's anyone who's managed to lose that last bit and if there's any tips?

Thank you

Great to hear it belleshell! How's everyone finding dieting at the weekend? Feeling but more hungry as am at home and food is well within reach...

Finding it ok but succumbed to 1/2 a toasted tea cake at soft play (although I've calorie counted it). Dh is trying to lose weight too so that helps and banning alcohol for the first month has made it much easier. I've actually really enjoyed the change of menu/food this week as we tend to eat the same each week...

How did you get on last night with your dh?

daisydee43 · 05/01/2013 13:43

Well he eventually gave in, will never let him stop smoking again lol. I actually finished the day with around 200 cals left.

May I join please? Am 5ft 5 and a 1/2 the 1/2 is iimportant and weigh a whopping 12.6lb the worse thing is I think I've lost all sense of my body shape since I had my 2 DD's. it was while looking at some pictures relatives had taken over Christmas that I realised I look big!! How could I not have noticed before? Does anyone else feel like this? So am on day3 of Ww am doing it online and I am hungry/ bored but trying hard not to give in. Couple of questions...what weight do you think I need to reach to look noticeable different as I don't trust my own judgment anymore? I am a size 12/14. Thanks and good luck everyone!!!!

daisydee43 · 05/01/2013 14:49

Hi doneinagain!! I think the best way to find out what weight to reach is to look at your bmi which you can easily work out by googling it. It checks your height against your weight and gives a pretty good answer. Personally I just try and remember to when I was slimmer and what shape I looked. Currently am 11.7 but have been as low as 8.10 before and I feel around 10-10.7 is manageable for me and I will be around a size 10-12.

I am also a size 12-14 currently and I also feel I have no shape. As for being hungry/boredom - treat yourself by going shopping for ww products, I went the other day and got some great meals, snacks and desserts, they're mostly on offer and easy to add on your food diary. I haven't been hungry so far, am eating lots green salad, drinking water and soups which all keep me full,
Looking forward to hearing your progress Smile

Hi all,
Just realised I forgot to put my first weigh in up yesterday... Am 14 st and 6ft. At my most skinny since puberty was 11st 12 (the day before poas with DS!). Would love to get down to 12 st 7 before my 30th in may.

Defo know what you mean about suddenly realising you're "big". I look ok(ish) from the front but have realised how far I am front to back! Not good!!

belleshell · 05/01/2013 16:47

Hi donein...... today at class they worked out my 10% weightloss goal which is 10.11, my actual goal willbe 10.7 so thats what im aiming for and im a simliar height weight to you. all those doing WW Poundland often sell WW stuff, but becareful cos sometimes its more expensive than supermarkets, morrisons and i think M+S also propoint their diet range but not all the stuff and tesco used to, so its actually better to get them products cos its cheaper...

im going to make soup i think for during working week...to keep points lower. then i can eat similar meals to rest of family just substitute some stuff for more veg..

good luck everyone with this week. and im loving this thrread

princessfifi9 · 05/01/2013 16:58

Hi doneinagain.

I am the same height as you and was 11 stone when I weighed myself after Christmas feasting. I have struggled with my weight all my life and have ranged from 8 stone 5lbs to 13 stone. I am going to try and lose a stone as I will look and feel better than I do now.

Perhaps try the same, lose 1 stone then see how you feel.

I am also hungry today but it is my own fault as I have not planned my food properly today as driving DD round to do her hobbies. I usually make a load of WW soup to snack on as it is 0 or low points and low cal plus filling.

As one of my former WW leaders used to say ...nothing tastes as good as slim feels... she obviously hadn't tried Lindor chocolates Grin

Doneinagain · 05/01/2013 18:25

Thanks for all the responses! To avoid eating out of boredom I left the DD's with DH and took the dog out for a vigorous walk around the park! iPod in headphones on....don't remember the last time I tried to do that!

I will aim to lose a stone.... And then see how I feel. Going on the BMI thing the lowest weight I have ever been was 67kg before I got married and my BMI was still 26. The thing is I was really happy with my weight then and didn't think I needed to lose any more weight but my BMI said otherwise. Does anyone else think the BMI's healthy rate is a little extreme?

Making the Ww soup is a good idea....where can I get the recipe please?

Also as I'm doing Ww online I'm not going to any meetings. Because I walked for 30 minutes today I earned 2 extra pro points but when I entered in on my app it didn't give me any extra points to my daily allowance? Is that normal? Can't wait to keep this up just imagine how well we will all look!!!!

daisydee43 · 05/01/2013 19:29

Doneinagain - well done for getting out with the dog that's very inspiring! As for bmi, I tend to go for the middle of the 'normal' range as this best fits me. I am buying ww soups as not brave enough to make them, they start from 51 cals a can!! And they are really satisfying Smile

Doneinagain, they should be showing under Activity Points on the top right (iPhone app?), you only go into them once all your weeklies are gone :)

Doneinagain · 05/01/2013 19:48

Thanks pseudo was starting to get desperate....right well I have 31 weekly points to last me until end of Tuesday plus my daily points and five active points!!!! Come on!!!

How much is everyone looking to lose a week? Or is that not how you are calculating it?

PseudoBadger · 05/01/2013 20:02

That sounds positively gluttonous rations Doneinagain

PseudoBadger · 05/01/2013 20:02

I have -2 points left - new week tomorrow thank god!

Doneinagain · 05/01/2013 20:23

Ok just had dinner so only have 25 weekly points left.....it's my first week pseudo don't know how far these weekly points go!!!!

It's my niece's birthday party tomoro help me keep away from birthday cake and the obligatory jam sandwichGrin I'm not picky....

daisydee43 · 05/01/2013 20:35

Doneinagain - hoping to lose 2lb week, have lost 1lb so far and weigh in on tues so fingers crossed. Think you will be ok at the party if everything is in small portions, maybe bulk up on wotsits and jelly as they are low cal? Hold back on pastry things and a jam sandwich prob isn't that bad

OP posts:
PseudoBadger · 06/01/2013 08:16

Just weighed in - 2.5lbs lost, down to 10st 4. It's probably first week effect, but I'm happy!

Doneinagain · 06/01/2013 09:17

Wow pseudo amazing well done!!! I'd be well chuffed with that!!!!! Onwards and upwards!!!!

MABS · 06/01/2013 10:22

well done to you all :) i could lie, but dreadful fri sat and will be today coz am going out , fresh start tmrow...

DancingInTheMoonlight · 06/01/2013 11:10

Well done pseudo! My weigh in is tomorrow but i couldn't resist and got on the scales this morning and have a 2lb loss :-). Whilst i would have loved the while done to drop off in the first week im happy I'm doing it slowly and sustainably tho I'm still impatient. On the plus side I'm loving the change if foods and am feeling like i have more energy!

daisydee43 · 06/01/2013 13:48

Weighing in on tues so hopefully have reached the 2lb mark. Definitely feel more sexy and healthier that I'm not shovelling in a big bag of donuts everyday. Dh is trying to put on weight so he's eating anything that might tempt me so that helps. Have just made myself a lovely pepper stuffed with a little rice and low fat cheese, yum Smile

Doneinagain · 06/01/2013 13:52

Go on Daisy I know you can do it! Managed to avoid any major pitfalls at the birthday party... About 4 Dorito's a quarter of a cheese sandwich and another quarter of a jam sandwich that Dd shoved into my mouth!!! I had no choice honest guv!Grin came home very hungry so toasted a whole meal English muffin and poached one egg with spinach..... Who needs Bernaise sauce? It was delicious!

Will now try to avoid clock watching until dinner time..might try out the slow cooker I was given for Xmas! Any good recipes out there?

belleshell · 06/01/2013 15:54

have you tried raosted butternut squash soup....its delicious and free ww points. try googling it, if not it is roughly a normal sized butternut squash, 1 red pepper, 1 medium onion. chop into chunks and roast all veg for approx 30 mins 200.c then boil in veg stock cube and ?? 1.5 pts of water. add 1 tsp of curry powder once boiled for 20 mins then blend........ tis lovely honest and really filling..

im at day 2 and no points left today, but did take dog so a walk, and still have all weekly points should i sucumb to the evil rich tea biscuit..
