Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness is here

Hope everyone is doing well.

I haven't weighed this morning - was a little bit distracted by a phone call from my lovely SIL in Australia, to announce the safe arrival of Gabriel Paul and Nell Florence Jean! Gabriel weighed 5lbs 2oz and Nell 4lbs 10oz, so good weights to say they are 3 weeks early.

So I'm a great aunty Grin

Thanks for the kind thoughts, guys. Today went well for the family, I think.

But I didn't so much fall off the wagon, as fling myself from it like a somersaulting kamikaze lemming, at the wake this afternoon.
I had about 3 triangle sandwiches, a couple of small sausage rolls, 2 scones with jam and a ginger biscuit Blush. And that great Scottish delicacy, a white pudding (battered oatmeal and god knows what else) from the chipper at the tea later on. At least I was driving so no booze why does this happen? If you had asked me before, I would have said that I wasn't really an emotional eater, that I just liked my scones etc. but this week has shown me that I definitely link some foods to emotional comfort. And it makes me worried that Ds will be the same, as DH and him share the same sweet tooth, and chocolate is used in DH family to cure all ills.
My lower intestine area is grumbling and I'm not bloody surprised. I suspect I will feel pretty yuck soon.

Sorry if ive brought the thread down, really dont want to discourage anyone, in fact this has shown me that i do feel a lot better on this WOE after all.

Back on it like a car bonnet tomorrow!!

jan2013 · 21/11/2012 19:38

thank you so much for the hugs and support, and sympathies to everyone else who struggles with your weight food and mood.... its a battle no-one asked for! but yes everyone is right, and ill try my best just to keep what you's are saying in my head...i especially like 'weight does not have to be one of my stresses' that will help me and i hope it helps others too if they are having a bad day.
mrs my clothes are getting a bit tighter...
however i will keep on the plan, keep focusing on health, and try not to worry about the numbers :) thanks again

halfthesize · 21/11/2012 20:22

JessicaWakefield your dinner looks lovely.Grin

toomuch glad today went ok, I think its totally acceptable to fall off the wagon some times.

jan2013 big hugs coming your way x

Just had massive row with my DD1Angry so am now sat here with a big glass of red, not ideal but it seems to help!
Dinner was LC shepherds pie, it was yummySmile

EwanHoozami · 21/11/2012 20:52

jan I have a not-very-technical-at-all theory that this WOE gets us to the weight and shape that our bodies want us to be. It could be that your body is doing something for you that you weren't expecting, but that might not be so much of a bad thing. Be gentle with yourself and I hope your DD is better soon.

Viperidae · 21/11/2012 21:30

Agree whole-heartedly with BIWIs words earlier and am glad the rest of you all seem to be coping.

Jan2013 Please don't let weight get you down, I am more than twice the woman you are (in weight terms) and have a DD who has her own issues with food and weight so know how awful it can make us feel. Try to focus on health and enjoying your lovely baby.

I had something of a hiccup today as I went to a set meal lunch but couldn't find what the menu was before going and my friend couldn't remember. Consequently I ate the bread roll with my soup, thinking there would be more worth cheating with but the rosti was too cheesey and the creme brulee too solid so, if I had been organised, I could have been good with minimal effort!

Some of you spoke of goals earlier mine is simply to keep going and to keep losing slowly but steadily. From my heaviest, I am 1st 10lb down so I would like to get more than 2st off by Christmas which sounds easy but there is all that fun and socialising to fit in too.

WineGless · 21/11/2012 21:32

Jan- I can't add much to what others have said before. Only you can change your perception of your weight and body. You are eating a very healthy and satisfying range of food and will be showing your daughter good eating habits. Keep posting though, we're listening!

Jess - how was tea? Looks yummy

Toomuch- glad today went as well as can be expected although not sure how you stomach white pudding Wink I totally identify with the emotional eating regarding DC. My parents use food as a reward/crutch/emotional blackmail and am trying very hard to to use these methods with my DC Fortunatley we only see them a few times a year so can distance myself from it.

Halfthesize- what's up with DD? .am very jealous of red wine- could really go a glass tonight

Doshusallie · 21/11/2012 22:18

Jess that tea looks yum.

Just been to see breaking dawn part 2. A. M. A. Zing. The ultimate love story, it was ace. Grin

Had some celery and cream cheese, and some cream cheese wrapped in ham before I went out - just scoffed 2 cold low carb sausages, and 2 teaspoons of peanut butter. No sweets or popcorn in cinema (halo).

Off to that ther London town again tomorrow (sigh) but at least at a reasonable hour this time.

Doshusallie · 21/11/2012 22:19

Wine - I bow down before you with your alcohol abstention. I did 2 weeks once...... Except when pregnant .....

WineGless · 21/11/2012 22:23

If you knew me in RL you would be in shock, which most of my friends are! It is a rare thing that's for sure ;) I couldn't bear the smell of alcohol when I was pregnant, fortunately.
Was slightly concerned last night when giving DD Calpol- she turned round and said "mummy that's disgusting it tastes just like alcohol"
Many questions ran through my mind it has to be said
When questioned she confirmed she hadn't been necking the gin it had smelt my wine! Blush

JessicaWakefield · 21/11/2012 22:41

Ladies, I'm sorry to report that the chicken, tomato, Parmesan thingy that I posted earlier was only ok, fine but uninteresting. If you got it on an aeroplane you'd be pleased. From Waitrose and a bit excited about it not so much.

Toomuch well done on today, it can't have been easy.

Wine in awe of you. Am not a big drinker as no tolerance now after two pregnancies in very quick succession but do need a few sips of red once the DCs are finally down for the night so hats off to you!

Half hope things get patched up with DD soon Thanks

Viperidae · 21/11/2012 23:53

I wish I liked red wine, it always looks and sounds so sophisticated but I really don't like it. I wish I was less fussy!

BIWI · 22/11/2012 08:23

Morning all!

Hope it's not too rainy wherever you are.

Interesting link here about superfoods - especially green tea

Thanks for all the supportive comments Biwi,Caramel, Toomuch, winegless.....it really helps and yes from a health perspective I do feel better, sleep better, no tummy rumblings and cravings So I WILL just keep going...up the exercise...cut back(or out) the dairy/ 70% choc....and I will keep reading and posting here. Slow and steady will win the race and at my height....a few pounds makes a visible difference......

butterfliesinmytummy · 22/11/2012 13:37

OMG, had a terrible day today food wise .... Lunch was reasonable, asparagus soup with brie ... but felt very cold and crampy (TOTM) this afternoon and somehow managed to make a dent in leftover halloween chocolate ... I'm going to have to get back on track tomorrow.

I'm surprised actually because I've been so comfortable on this WOE...

Off to browse your amazing before and after photos for inspiration Grin

NotAgainAndAgain · 22/11/2012 14:08

Hi
I subscribe with both hands under yesterday's BIWI's - very wise. jen, best wishes your way.

I got an unusual item in my shopping trolley today - a rack of pork ribs (not the ones which are in sauce and half prepared, 'cose too much carbs here), but the one is supposed to do from scratch.
But googling the recipe brings to the same sort of "add honey" or "add BBQ sauce" (high as well).
Any simple recipe for a good LC cause? I went though recipe tread - did not see. Thank you

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/11/2012 15:07

The only recipes I have found require a 'low carb BBQ sauce' mostly ready made. The ones that you make yourself are full of diet cola basically and sweeteners so not sure they are particularly good for you either!

What about something more tomato based, or similar to this but adapted without the sugar maybe?

Piffle · 22/11/2012 16:57

Starting this WOE was more about quitting booze than anything, I've been pretty much the epitome of a middle class lush/daily drinker for a decade. Hence the 2 stone added.

DH and I have both been 2 months now without alcohol (I had 2 glasses of wine one night with a friend that said)

To have cracked that drinking is the biggest thing for me.
To have lost 5.5 kgs on this WOE and give up beer is very very satisfying indeed.
I will assess how I look and feel once another 5 kgs are off which will put me at 9st 5 (5ft 6 I am very slim framed under all the blubber) and prob work at maintaining that... I was 3 kgs less than that before I had kids and I have had my breast reduced in 2009 (2 kgs off) so we shall see...

Oh food today - I am SO hungry!

B- Bacon eggs
L- 3 sausages, broccoli, green beans
D- Chicken and Salad
snack blueberries and double cream

Exercise - 480 cals of walking

NewStartSameStory · 22/11/2012 17:02

What is the consensus on halzenut 'Milk' and almond 'milk'?

I have a migraine.

Piffle · 22/11/2012 17:04

many are sweetened but check the carb count if under 3g per 100g generally considered ok

NewStartSameStory · 22/11/2012 17:18

Thanks piffle.

PorkyScratching · 22/11/2012 17:18

Can I join in? I tried a previous Bootcamp before the summer, but only lasted 2 weeks before I slipped while on holiday, and never picked back up again Blush I was under a different name then, but shared a few recipes from my blog on the recipe thread.

I have been Bootcamping for 1.5 weeks now, and have just read all your previous threads! I am doing well, only 1 slip up in McDonalds when I ate the bun as well as burger.

I dont weigh myself, but I know roughly what my start weight was, and tbh I have soooo much to lose that it doesnt matter that I dont know to the exact pound. I know I have lost though, I feel different already and my fat tummy has changed shape.

To the person who wants a low carb pork rib recipe - try soy sauce, crushed garlic, grated ginger & chinese 5 spice. Cook them in a slow cooker for the most meltingly soft meat!

Diner tonight for us is roast guinae fowl, celeriac fondant & braised cabbage - to whoever shared this cabbage recipe THANK YOU!

PorkyScratching · 22/11/2012 17:20

Oh, that pork rib recipe I just posted, forgot to say to add some passatta too!

halfthesize · 22/11/2012 17:21

Eve All, sorry I did not respond last night needed time to calm down.

DD has always been highly strung(i am being polite) but she is now 20, got a new boyfriend, who whole life revolves around(I know normal) However last night spoke to me in the most awful manner, shouted at her younger brother(aged 3) and basically said she hated having to come home(which is rare these days!! So needless to say I gave her a few home truths, that have been coming for a while, I was more upset than angry, but it did end up being a 'red mist' moment. Sorry for going on... She has text today apologising, but I think at this point actions speak louder than words.

ps The wine helpedBlush sorry BIWI

I have been super good today and am hoping for a loss on MondaySmile

Its been raining here for 2 days and we are flooded all over the place and now the wind has arrived, the joys!
Hope you have all had good days and jan I hope you are feeling a little better today x

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/11/2012 17:24

Oh half, that sounds horrible. I am glad she has apologised to you, and I hope that things get better for you.

captainmummy · 22/11/2012 18:18

Half - 20yo's have the 'terrible twos' sometimes don't they! Hopefully she'll come out the other side soon!

Went to see Skyfall today, very fun. Bypassed the popcorn and choc and sweeties that cinemas seem to think we need to get through a 2 hour sit-down. The group of teenagers behind us indulged in the lot, rustly sweet papers, popping can tops, opening choc bars. In an empty cinema they all came and sat right behind us. (And spent a lot of time shusssshing each other and giggling Angry)

Breakfast - 3 egg omelette/cream/butter
lunch - lettuce with pate/blue cheese, bowl of thai coconut red curry soup
dinner - creamcheese pancakes with creamed leeks and cheese on top.

Very dairy- and cheese-heavy. Will prob have a coffee with cream later too Blush
