Come and weigh in:

docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmNIskihgXotdFVPcF9zWUhIal9BbTl5SnlTM3BlWVE#gid=0

Glad to see the losses so far!

I'm taking my weight as of last Friday, as I know that my weekend will have affected things. Yesterday wasn't too bad a day, although we went out for a Thai meal and even though I made the best choices I could, some of the food was definitely too sweet.

Now that I've got this weekend out of the way, it's back to it.

There's also a very interesting article for you to read, about leptin, the hormone that controls hunger:

I wonder if it's to do with the brand of chocolate and the cocoa level, Willow?

Viper - I have built up to that level - I didn't start there! When I first went to the gym, even at a low incline, within a minute or so my heart rate was up at 140. Now I have to work very hard to get it over 120. Good to see the progress.

Evening all. I am in bed after another knackering day two at Butlins, it is fantastic here though, we are in the new hotel which is fab and there is soooooo much to do, and the weather is being very kind so far.

Lunch was 2 baby bels, 2 sausages and a boiled egg, with some alpro yoghurt, have to say I don't like it as much as total or the lidl one, odd taste.

Tea was a mountain of cabbage and broccolli, 2 gammon steaks and a couple of mouthfuls of chicken curry. Luckily all eaten before ds2 had a bottom explosion in the canteen loos (men's) [hblush]

I have also had 2 glasses of red wine hairofthedog

Glad you have heard from ds viper.

Congrats on promotion captain!

I am looking forward to some proper exercise next week, I do enjoy it and miss it when I can't do it.

Piffle · 30/10/2012 19:51

The Butter Chicken curry from the IDP cookbook was amazing, felt alien to be throwing in butter and double cream though, and then I stirred in coconut oil at the end...
another lump,of butter on the spinach and cabbage too...
Feel stuffed :-)

jan2013 · 30/10/2012 20:15

remember when thinking about exercise to do bone bearing exercise... it helps prevent bone loss. anything with impact basically! very important as we are getting older... and especially for those of us who have been on low fat diets previously which restricted diary products, or those who did too much exercise.

BigBroomstickBIWI · 30/10/2012 20:16

It's hard embracing the fat to start with, isn't it?! But it's what makes you feel full/satisfied, and it's what makes this WOE more of a pleasure than a diet. Why would you want to count calories now?!

OP posts:
Willowisp · 30/10/2012 20:44

I like to count calories Grin but I'm a child of 'eat fat, get fat'

Ref Choc puddings, I used 150 g green & blacks 72% cooking dark Choc & 25 g of Dr Oetkers dark choc, but looking at MFP, I, bizarrely, put Morrisons dark choc. Will amend immediately & rifle through choc store for lowest carb choc...What did you use & do you think it would work with cocoa ? (obsessed).

Made the IPD celeriac gratin...not keen...dh was excited cos it thought it was potato...will stick with swede in future..

BigBroomstickBIWI · 30/10/2012 20:47

I used 175g Green & Black's 85% Cocoa Dark Chocolate

OP posts:
Willowisp · 30/10/2012 20:52

Ok, making it with 85% choc next time....brings it to 6.3g carbs....I could manage 2nds at that rate Wink

BigBroomstickBIWI · 30/10/2012 20:56

Don't forget the carbs for the milk - that takes it up to 8.05g carbs per serving. I have e-mailed the makers of the raspberry liqueur that I used to see how many carbs that will have added.

Evening all, and very well done on all those nominated, you all deserve it!!

B alpro yoghurt with a dozen blueberries
L 2 small bits of chicken,1 hardboiled egg, 1 slice ham, cucumber and pâté
D 3 sausages and roasted veg ( which was red onion, courgette, 2 parsnips, half a leek and half a green pepper, divided between me and DH) its handy for using up various leftover veg bits.

Snack was ..... A piece of bake well cake, like a bake well tart but bigger and fluffier. [hblush] I took DS to activity straight from school/work so no snack to hand for me, saw it, loved it. With peppermint tea served in a proper cup and saucer with a nice napkin. Ah feck it, will go read biwi how to avoid temptation article now. Horse, door, bolted, anyone? Feck. Was doing so well.

Brasssection · 30/10/2012 21:44

Thanks WILL. I am frustrated too. I'll look into IF. In the meantime, will keep going with my hybrid. I figure shred, low carb and no booze can't be bad. I'm making sure now that now that I've introduced a bit of porridge, that I'm not doing very high fat as well. So no more mayo or too much butter, but olive oil and a bit or cheese and milk.

Dinner was salmon and cabbage: yum!

halfthesize · 30/10/2012 21:51

Eve all

Congratulations on the promotion caramelWine
viper Glad your DS is safeSmile

cathyandclaire · 30/10/2012 22:37

Hi folks...dropped coffee on my MacBook ( sob) fortunately lacto free milk so less damage!!! Will be back online and weighing in tomorrow morning but not expecting great things as have been indulging in too much of the vin rouge and green and blacks lately.

caramelwaffle · 30/10/2012 22:59

"...lacto free milk so less damage." Sorry. That made me laugh.
Bad news about the MacBook however.

Brasssection · 31/10/2012 08:43

Cath exactly the same things happened to my friend but the machine was fine after a few days of drying out.

BigBroomstickBIWI · 31/10/2012 08:45

When gaily committing myself to reaching 9.7 this week, I totally forgot that

  • I'm out to lunch today (and wine will be involved)
  • I'm out on a Tweet-up tomorrow night (and wine will be involved)
  • I'm out to a fireworks party on Saturday (and ....)

The good news is that any damage from Saturday has been eliminated, and the scales are once again showing 9 stone 8 1/2.

Sorry to hear about your MacBook, cathy - but glad you have mitigated the damage by not using that awful, normal milk Grin

Jacaqueen · 31/10/2012 09:45

Well so much for me saying I was going to post more this week.

I feel really good today. I have had 2 perfect low carb days and The scales of doom have dropped by a couple of pounds. I will admit that over the past few weeks I have not been Bootcamp perfect, what with half term etc, but I thought I was doing enough and I should have lost a little. So when the scales went up I was a bit pissed off to say the least. But I kept the faith and have been rewarding with a nice whoosh.

I keep saying I am going to limit dairy but never do it. This week I am cutting out cheese and cream but still having yoghurt and lacto free milk. We will see if that makes a difference.

I was getting a bit panicky about Christmas looming, and not having lost enough weight. There is still almost 8 weeks to go and I already weigh around 3 stone less than I did last Christmas. I have decided that I am going to just keep on going and I should be near target by the time the clocks change back again in the spring. So I now feel more relaxed.

Jins · 31/10/2012 10:23

Still struggling just to maintain at the moment. Goodness knows how I'd be feeling if I was eating carby junk though so I'm keeping that in mind.

Not long before I see the consultant and hopefully they'll have a solution for me

kandinskysgirl · 31/10/2012 11:01

Hello I am lurking and have had a few weeks off work which has resulted in a carb overload. At first it was great but now I am feeling really flabby and want to get back to feeling fab.

So no wine, no carbs for me...which I think is the definition of bootcamp so I am back!

So first thing first...I have celeriac...what do I do with it and how???

Doshusallie · 31/10/2012 11:55

Kandinsky - can mash it just like mashed potato, with buter and cream. Peel it, cut it into chunks, boil, drain, mash. Or celeriac chips. Or gratin.

Breakfast was kipper, 3 egg, 3 bacon.

We would be having a perfect time if I wasn't havi g to tell the boys off so much. Seem to be shouting at them for the same things over and over which is most tiresome. Oh well that's boys for you.

Piffle · 31/10/2012 11:58

Adhering bloody strictly to Ph 1 of the IDP has meant a 3lb loss (or 1.4 kgs if you prefer) in the last week (our weigh in day is a Wednesday here DH is doing it as well as he is quite overweight)
Back in my skinny jeans - I can do them up without pain! And sit down!
Today anyhow
Brekkie bacon and eggs and mushrooms - I never tire of this but am going to source nitrate free bacon...

L - a protein shake or cheese omelette and salad

D- lamb and spinach curry on steamed shredded cabbage
Meant to be going to a Halloween party with the kids tonight, will stuff myself before and after I think and try and avoid alcohol.

kandinskysgirl · 31/10/2012 12:23

Doshusallie- Fab thank you! I have low-carb sausages so will do sausage and celeriac mash with broccoli for dinner. Means OH can have the same too so saves time.

I have stocked up on meat/fish/eggs/cream and removed all alcohol from the house (mainly by drinking it yesterday Grin). I have also just acquired a huge slow cooker so I really have no excuses.

I would like to lose a stone by Christmas...I think that is quite a high target so wont be disappointed if its less than that, as long as some is gone!

Hope BIWI doesn't mind me gate crashing the thread halfway through bootcamp!

I have been lurking and mainly following the plan since week 1 but thought i should de lurk to share! I have used them before and they are great, really good quality and its quite a bargin!

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 31/10/2012 12:36

Piffle if you find any nitrate free bacon can you let us know where, I haven't been able to find any locally.
Am a bit glum as 2.5lbs on yesterday and still there todaySad. I've been really good and just don't understand how my weight can vary so much. Hoping if I stick with it the extra couple of pounds and maybe a bit more might come off this week. Was really hoping to see a number starting with 9 next Monday.

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 31/10/2012 12:39

Couldn't be the couple of spoonfuls of coconut oil I've recently started taking could it? It's meant to be carb free and really good for you though haven't notice any real benefit yet.
